There is no denying it, we are down to the wire now. Tonight is the big moment when the lights dim, the audience quiets down, and the curtain raises on Syllabus of Errors. Except minus that curtain part actually because we are doing this in the round. But anyway, you get the idea.
Our journey thus far has been filled with hard work, determination, creativity, and yes, sometimes frustration when trying to perfect lines, blocking and even pronunciation of words such as "errors" (something kind of important you know, seeing as it's in the title of the play and all). In any case, one thing the rehearsal process has never been is dull. I was always amazed by my fellow actors' dedication and ability to create new and exciting characterizations on stage. Not to mention Brian's incredible direction, and style and manner of giving us insight into our characters and helping us to better create the world of the play from beginning to end.
Perhaps the greatest thing we will take from this process is not only how we've grown and learned as actors, but also the comradery and memories that we've made together as people. Brian once said that memory is like a big house, and that at the end of your life you can take a walk through the house and see in each room the people and stories and experiences that have truly touched you and left their mark. I know that for me, this rewarding and meaningful theatre experience with 11:11 will surely go into my house of memories.
So we're off, setting forth to opening night. Basking under those lights, reveling in the magic that is acting. I wish I could bottle the feeling--both exhilarating and frightening at the same time. But that is all part of its beauty. I know with this particular play, with its characters and story, the audience will be moved emotionally and mentally. Not only will you want to laugh at the witty language and snide character personalities, you will also feel the deep sadness that is the struggle of their present situation.
Please come see the show. And spread the word to your friends and family. You will be glad you did. We promise you this.
