Well, you won't be hearing from me for a while.  I'm going to DC for the summer with my husband.  Wow, that's the first time I've written that.

So, yeah, my life is going.  Got back from Choir tour.  It was wonderful.  The food was great!  So much for not gaining any weight.  Oh well.

So, I'm getting married in 2 weeks.  Saturday, May 13.  The reception is from 7-9 pm at the Stake Center.  I'm so excited!!!  Then it's off to DC for the summer.  Gosh, turn, turn turn.

Oy. 

So, I am now officially engaged!  It's all very exciting.  Only mildly anticlimactic since we're in the middle of plans for the wedding.  That's what happens when you know since the... what? first couple of weeks of dating? that you're going to get married.   Oh well.  It's still wonderful.

SO, my ring is absolutely gogeous!  White gold, a (sparkly) round diamond with 3 channel-set sapphires on either side.  Amazing boy, he designed it himself.

I'm so excited.  This makes it just a little more real to me.  In just about 2 months, I'm gonna be married!  Me, the girl who was never going to leave home!  Me, the girl who scared away boys like I possesed some special anti-pheremone.  It's surreal.

So, in other words, I had a really nice night.

Everyone says I haven't seen any movies - let's see if it's true.

Hehehe, anyone else think I'm a little evil?

So, decorations for Valentine's Day are going up.  'Going up'?  What am I saying?  They've been up since only slightly after Christmas.  Gads!  What's next?  What stoopid lame-butt holiday are they going to come up with next to ensure that we never climb out of the debt-hole we dig ourselves at Christmas?  "Gifts equal love.  If you don't buy your boyfriend/girlfriend/parents/kids/friends/aqaintances/stepbrother's great aunt something huge and wildly expensive, you clearly don't love them and you should be shunned for your frugal and clearly selfish ways." 

Pardon me!  I'm unemployed, I'm a college student living with my parents and just trying to keep my head above water and gas in my car.  I don't have money to burn.  Hey, I love giving people stuff, Love it.  But I don't have the money to buy them ALL the big cool stuff. I don't even have the money to buy them all something from the dollar store.

Christmas at least has religious significance that one can fall back on in a pinch.  There is no religious significance in Valentine's Day.  I pesonally believe it was created solely to re-enforce the attitude that money is love and if you love someone you should buy them big, expensive stuff.  Am I being redundant?  But anyway, no religion.  Oh, sure, you've got the story about St. Valentine.  He was jailed for something or other and the jailer's blind daughter fell in love with him.  And supposedly before he was excuted he wrote her a note "from her Valentine".  But I think it was made up to sound good.  Or maybe there was a St. Valentine, but his story was blown wildly out of proportion.

Now, maybe my dislike stemmed from years of making little cards and little "mailboxes" and making sure you didn't leave anyone out (even though Tommy in the back picked his nose and smelled like pee).  But there's a whole different dynamic when you know that most of these kids are only giving you a card because their parents and the teacher are making them give cards to everyone.

Then growing up with the "lovers holiday" and never having someone.  Not even a someone who "totally has a crush on you".  But now I, in fact, do have a someone.  But I don't want him to give me anything.  Because now I'm all jaded and disaffected with the holiday and I see through the glitz and gaudy red-and-pink-and-white paper hearts.  I dunno, maybe I'm just some crazy broad who needs to be put out of everyone else's misery... Nah, it's too much fun ranting and annoying people.  Can't wait to rant about something else.  Maybe people who put their dogs in ridiculous costumes.  And, sadly, my sister's one of them.  Gah!  Won't anyone think of the puppies?!
