hello everyone! just a quick catch up on how things have been lately (can i sum it up in one word??? crazybusyhectic :))
well...quickly put: last week, we adopted 2 new babies...Killian and Monty...from New Beginnings Cat Shelter. they are wonderful people, and you can tell by how sweet these kittens are...i posted a few pics on here last week, if you haven't seen them yet... the babies have been adapting nicely, and the dog has been getting used to them too...he likes them...really wants to play with them...and yes, he gets a little jealous, but he's getting better...
tommy is now full blown into hockey...playing for the kankakee coyotes...he's a goalie. making lots of progress...had his first "practice game" saturday...it was against homewood floosmor and he got his first shut out...so proud of him!
amber is busy at school. cheering for the bourbonnais bears is over now...she did a good job for her first time in cheer...she enjoyed it and made some more friends...she's been having a great year so far, and is getting ready for her 8th grade washington dc trip next spring...she's excited about it...i remember how much fun i had, so i am excited for her...
rob has been tailgating with his new buddy, iron mike...a '77 winnebago he bought off ebay and painted orange and blue. he got it all fixed up and it looks great. they had been having a good time tailgating at the bears games with mike, until this weekend they had some drama...short story--brakes went out on the way to the game, his cousin started a "camper fire" and so now mike is sitting in a shop being repaired...ask rob how much fun this weekend was at the game...lol! i'm just glad no one was hurt, and everyone made it home safely, except for walter payton, who was tragically burned in the camper fire...wish i could have been a fly on the wall to have seen all that drama! LOL!!!
then today, i when i came home from tommy's hockey practice, the kids were working on their homework, when amber says "something just went u pthe stairs...think it was a cat...not sure which one..." then i hear..."no, its not a cat...i think it's a mouse...it was grey..." then i hear " it looked lige magilla (my grey chinchilla)..." so i get up and go upstairs, and sure enough, the chinchilla cage is wide open...and there isn't anyone inside...ok...so now i am freaking out trying to find both chinchillas, while i have 2 cats and a dog running around he house...OMG!!! well, i hadn't seen any blood or bodies, and with amber seeing magilla, i at least knew she was alive...so i go looking...and found her under the stereo next to the cage...yeah...chinchillas are NOT easy to catch...especially when they are scared! i finally got a hold of her and got her back into the cage. then i had to find nacho...i found him in the corner by the piano...he was ok too...a little miffed that i had to catch him by his tail, but it was all i could grab! so he got put back into the cage...how lucky was that...two chichillas running amok in the house with 2 cats, and a 100 lb dog, who loves to chase bunnies...and we had no injuries or fatalities...i think amber didn't shut the cage as well as she thought she did after she gave them a treat before we went to practice...what is with my kids and leaving doors open!!!! LOL!!!
yeah...i think we have had enough excitement around here for a while...you know what sounds REALLY nice??? a day with no drama...LOL!!! yeah-like that will ever happen! oh well...at least no one got hurt, and we are all in one piece!
oh well...time to go...until next time, take care, God bless, and do your research before you vote on the 4th!

OK...2 short funny stories... Sunday, we're at the Colts game...Rob is warding his Lance Briggs jersey, and we are standing outside the pro shop...this guy walks up to Rob, and asks him for his autograph...we were like "????" and the guy says something about Rob looking like Troy Aikman...and then he walks away...funny thing is that this is not the first time he's been called Aikman...we were at Bears camp last year, and Chris Harris was signing autographs for the kids after practice and Rob was talking to him...Chris looked up, and goes "oh man, i thought you were Troy Aikman up there..." Rob is not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing...because some like Aikman, and he's heard some folks say that Aikman looks like a frog...i just think it's funny! hehe! other funny story... we are at Wally world today, grocery shopping, and here them page "Robert or Crystal..." and think that's weird...Robert and Crystal...and then the page continues......Clayton, please report to your vehicle"...then they repeated it...I drove to the store today...Usually he drives...So, I'm thinking "Shit...someone hit my car..." "nooooo....don't let it be that..." so Rob goes out, and i tell him to tell me if it's ok to come out...cuz i was really scared someone had hit my car...i kept thinking, maybe it's someone we know, saw the car and wanted to trick us, or someone vandalized it--because of how it looks, or maybe it was on fire...yes, i did wonder...Rob went out....i peeked out the window--didn't see smoke, so crossed the fire off the list...then i couldn't see what was going on...(anyone who knows me knows that i do not like to not know what is going on...sirens nearby, i have to go check it out...thanks papa! ) well, it has only been a couple minutes, but i can't take it, so i told the kids to stay there with the card in the produce section near the door...i had to go check really quick...so i start walking out and see two cars stopped right by my car (mind you--i am and antisocial parker, so i am parked in BFE--there usually isn't anyone parked that close by...) and one is parked behind me, so that i am boxed in..."SHIT" i think...and start walking out there...not in a good mood...ready to yell at someone...i get closer to the car, and see that it is a police car parked behind me..."this CANNOT be good" i think...i keep walking and get to the car...and don't say anything to anybody, but start looking the car over...nothing looks wrong/hurt/etc...Rob is saying there's nothing wrong...and then the cop says "the driver side door was wide open--looks like everything is ok", so i open the car, and nothing looks amis...i check the trunk, everything is there...all looks well...i can breathe now...i go to the other vehicle parked by me and ask if they were the ones who called the police, and they were, and i thanked them...thank God there are still honest folks around! Apparently, when Tommy got out of the car, he did not shut the door (usually, since the kids move so slow, Rob and i get out, put the seats forward and start walking, and the kids shut the doors, and i lock them once the kids catch up...i should have known when the car did not "chirp" when i pushed the lock button...oh well...tommy forgets to shut the door sometimes in the driveway, but he never has in a parking lot...until today. well, after talking to the cop about the car and subsequently the colts game (his son was there too, but he's a falcons fan ???), rob and i go back to the store to get the kids and finish our shopping...i told rob we had to act like something happened just to be mean...so Tommy would see why he needs to remember to shut the door (yeah, and i guess i need to double check too...). we get back into the store, and i went up to tommy and asked him if he shut the car door. he said he thought he did, so i said, well, you didn't, and now my car radio is gone...amber was like "what?? they took your radio??" i said yep, and then asked tommy if he was going to replace it...he says yes...i asked him how...you don't have a job, and now i don't have a radio...he started to look upset...i told him that there was a cop outside and that he said someone left the car door open and they took the radio out of the dash...amber looked like she was nervous too...i decided tommy looked like he was going to cry, so i decided to let him off the hook...he was sweating it...i know--i'm a mean mom--but it's fun sometimes! so i told him what really happened, and told him that he needs to remember to shut the door, because what i said had happened really could happen...that is why we have to shut doors. i asked him if he was going to remember to shut the door now, and he said yes. well, it gets better...we get home, and are getting the groceries out of the car...Rob and i are behind the car, and the kids are just getting out...like normal. and what does my son do? HE LEAVES THE FRIGGIN CAR DOOR OPEN AGAIN, IN THE DRIVEWAY!!! i just shook my head and looked at Rob. He didn't notice right away, but when he did, he shook hid head too...what a goober...Tommy realized what he did, and shut the door, but it did take a minute... how crazy! LOL!!! that's all for now!

Current mood: exhausted
OK, so it's been a while since I posted anything, sorry...been WAY busy!
Here's a brief (well, as brief as I can be!LOL!) recap of what has happened since my last post...
we went on vacation the week of out anniversary (16 years this year!:) ) to Lost Lake (St Germain WI) for the week--took the dog and the jetskis. lots of loons (think it was mating season or something...they were doing a lot of hollering and chasing eachother around the lake...it was funny to watch. on the second morning, we had a visitor-woke up to the dog chasing some small creature through the cabin...bigger than a mouse, smaller than a squirrel...Culo chased it onto Amber's bed (where she was sleeping still) and it jumped right on her! Turns out, it was a chipmunk...he ran behind the fridge and we didn't get him out until ~1 hour later--after we put the dog outside...he was cute! (there's a picture of him in the lost lake album on my myspace)
we have decided that we are a jinx to restaurants we like to go to for our anniversary...last year, we had the issue of both places we liked to go close down before we could go back for our anniversary (up in North Dakota), and now in St Germain, there was a place we ate at for our anniversary last time we were there (in 2006), called Coyote Joe's--they had awesome food...well, they too fell victim to us...they closed...the couple who ran it got divorced, and then the wife had it, but closed it...sad... then, there was this pizza place that we liked to go...Vinci's...they would put food out for deer and bears, and the place would be packed...well, some do gooder ruined that...they went to the DNR and filed a complaint...saying it wasn't good for the bear, because he should be foraging for his own berries and such...wel, now the bear is foraging in people's dumpsters...guess that's better for the bear, huh...how crazy...dang people have to ruin everything...now the restaurant has lost a large portion of it's business because they cannot feed the bear anymore...URGH!!!!
we did lots of fishing too, but Rob was the only one who had any real luck...he caught a beautiful small mouth bass...17.5 inches long...he's getting it mounted...then he also caught a 16 inch large mouth bass...it tasted pretty good...and also 2 northerns. one was almost 2 feet long...the other about 15 inches...both were let go, so they could grow some more...there are pictures of the fish (except the smaller northern) in my myspace folder too...
we did get the dog on the jetskis too...really had a good time--he just looked so happy all week...if we tried to take a ride on the skis without him, he would swim after the ski...it was funny... he loved the water...luckily, he has not tried jumping into my ponds since we got back!
for our anniversary, we went to the whitetail inn...they had really good food--the kids came with us. Tommy, being the adventurous food lover he is, ordered duck...yes, duck...and he liked it. among his various culinary adventures were moose jerky, eggs benedict, and fish guts...yeah, i know-that's gross, but i'm not going into any more detail with that one...you'll have to ask Rob about it...
Rob and Tommy played softball on tuesday and thursday up there...they had fun...Tommy had a couple of "homeruns" tuesday. I use the term loosely, because the ball was not hit very far, but he successfully managed to run around all the bases by either the base person missing a throw, or by running around the other players as they tried to tag him out...it was really funny! on thursday, they remembered his runs on tuesday, and the scorekeeper made a few comments about them...it was funny!
we had a wonderful time, and were all sad to leave...hoping to someday buy a place up there or something...we both really like it up there...
back home, football started for the bourbonnais bears...Tommy is center for the superlight red team, and Amber is cheering for the Varsity team...it's her first year, and she seems to be enjoying it so far...it looks like she is doing pretty good too...she doesn't want me to watch her practice, so i walk laps on the track while they are practicing...i figured it out, and i am walking about 3 miles a day on the days the kids have practice...works for me! :)
summer has gone by so fast...seems like just yesterday that the kids were just finishing their schoolyear, and it is almost time for them to go back...wow--school starts on 8/19--so soon! :(
well, here;s a book and movie review update:
Books I have read: ODD HOURS-Dean Koontz--very good...can't wait for the next one! Legacy of the Drow-next collection in the series of books about Drizzt Do'Urden by RA Salvatore--really good book--i like this series... Into the Wild-The true story of the kid who wandered off into the Alaskan wilderness and died...cant remember his name, but it was an interesting story... Kill Me-Steven White...interesting story about "assisted suicide"...it was a quick read-hard to put down...
Currently reading: Paths of Darkness (RA Salvatore)-the next series after Legacy about Drizzt and his friends...I really like these books...they are action packed and hard to put down...great characters...wish i had discovered them sooner...
Movies: Hellboy II--loved it...just as good as the first! X Files 2-i enjoyed it, but i never saw the first one, and never really watched the tv show...the movie was pretty good though--i did not feel too lost :) The Bucket List-really good movie--will make you cry! Hitman-lots of action--lots of shooting...fun to watch... Vantage Point-i really liked this one...about the different perspectives of people who witnessed an assasination 10000 BC--entertaining, but not as good as i thought it would be from the previews--neat effects though...
that's about all i can remember for now (like i said, it's been a while :))
well, guss that's enough for now...make sure to check out the pics from our vacation (lost lake folder)!
'til next time, y'all take care! :)

Current mood: tired
hi all! its been a while so figured its time to pay catch-up... been really busy lately...lots of things going on...
finished bowling this spring...our team, "off constantly" finished up in 14th place...out of 16 teams...guess there are only two teams in our league who did not beat "off constantly"...hehehe!
started bowling again on the summer White Sox league...last week bowled really well-254, 256, 221...too bad its 8 pin no tap (8 pins = strike for you non-bowlers)...too bad i can't bowl like that during the regular season...
we've also been busy with hockey--Rob plays 2 nights a week, Tommy plays 2 nights a week, and then all three of us go to a hockey clinic on saturdays...and sometimes open skating on sundays...yes, i like to play hockey...and i hope to play sometime for the rat hockey on monday nights...not sure if i'm ready yet, but soon...Rob and Tommy both play goalie...i just like to shoot at them--that's fun!
The kids are getting big-growing like weeds...Amber is becoming quite the bookworm and has been doing very well in school. Tommy has been busy with his sports and is also quite the reader. Tommy recenty decided he needed "change" in his diet, and swallowed a penny in music class at school the other day...it has been very interesting...can't think of anything i'd rather be doing in the morning that looking for spare change in the toilet...FUN!!!! Next time you see him, call him "Pennywise" or tell him "penny for your thoughts"...he told Rob he was hungry after he ate his dinner one day-Rob grabbed a spoon, and a bowl full of pennies and told him that was his dessert...the fun never ends! :)
I have been making myself drive smarter lately...so i can get as many miles as i can out of each time i put gas in the car...its amazing how much better mileage you can get by doing little things...like putting your car in neutral when you are sitting at a stop light, or just by driving the speed limit...i have been using my cruise control more often too-even in town--makes a BIG difference! even in my car, i can get 30 mpg driving IN TOWN! Not bad for a V8! (actually, it switches to running on 4 cylinders when you reach a consistent speed...kinda cool!) (Thanks for the tips, Rob!). I've noticed lots of people driving slower lately...its more relaxing too!
Been reading a lot lately-here's a quick list and brief thoughts: Cell-Stephen King--entertaining read-hard to put down-kinda scary idea...liked it. The Husband-Dean Koontz-loved it...lots of action and hard to stop reading... Ice Wind Dale Trilogy-RA Salvatore-really good book(s)-more adventures with Drizzt Do'Urden, Guenhwyvar, Cattie-Brie and Bruenor. think i'm hooked--ordered more of the books in the series...should be here soon! Prince Caspian-had to re-read before seeing the movie--very good--both the book and movie. check them out! (read the book first!)
Started reading Voyage of the Dawn Treader today...so far so good--don't think i've read it before...then-when i am done with that, time for Odd Hours (Koontz)--been waiting for the next Odd Thomas book to come out--its on it's way here now--i'll let you know what i think after i'm done! :)
got my second annual rejection letter from the Colts for my season tickets...moved up a whole 13 places this year...woohoo! at this rate, it will take 124 years for me to get my season tickets---hope my grandkids enjoy them! seriously, though...i really think it sucks the way they do their tickets...existing season ticket holders get to buy extra tickets before new people can get any...and then of the 10k tickets that they opened up with the new stadium, most of those went to corporations...so what happens is the current ticket holders and "corporations" are buying up all the tickets, and then selling them on ebay and to brokers...so if i want to get tickets, i will have to buy them on ebay--yeah---at $200+ for ONE TICKET--and that is for nosebleed seats! guess i won't be going to too many games this year...guess i just have to wait it out until they start to suck again, or i miraculously find some reasonably priced tickets to a game here and there...maybe i'll be selfish this year and hope for a 4-12 season??? that'll get rid of some of the fickle folks who are buying all these tickets up so I can't go...oh well...enough ranting for now...patience patience patience...Rob had to wait 11 years for his Bears tickets...I've ony been waiting a couple so far...:)
well, guess that's it for now...looking forward to summer, vacation, football season to start, and the elections to be over--getting sick of all the crap i'm hearing...oh well...guess all i can do is wait it out and cast my vote when the time comes...i just really hope that everyone does their homework before they vote, instead of just voting for someone because of their race or gender...as i have heard many people talking about...look at the issues-don't pick the book by it's cover, but the story inside...ok--i'm done with the political portion of this blog...
alrighty then--until next time, y'all take care and God bless! :)

Current mood: exhausted
Today, we had a fun day of more shopping...the kids are really enjoying seeing all the toys that i used to have in the antique stores...they think it’s funny--i think i have two of the only children who remotely like antique stores (amber likes the dolls, and tommy likes the sports cards and toys)...today they learned about records and record players...and tommy found some really neat star wars guys...he made it his personal misson to find "old star wars guys" today...and he succeeded. the first of them were all in one bag...for 150.00...yeah...not spending that much on star wars guys-especially ones that are for a seven year old to play with and someones dog chewed a couple of...we did find some single star wars guys...for much less money...and so i got them for him...amber found a very nice precious moments doll...and we found rob some neat chicago bears cards...from the 85 team...at dixie caverns, we found some fairy stone crosses (there’s a neat story that goes along with them--i got one for you mimi :))...and some other neat rocks...tonight, the company that rob is working at this week took us to dinner at a nice itallian restaurant...very yummy! the weather today was BEAUTIFUL!!! 74 degrees...sunny...absolutely wonderful! if the weather is that nice again tomorrow, me and the kids are going to go have a picnic lunch at the park, and maybe do some other outside things (maybe i will get to get a sunburn after all! LOL!!)...amber wants to go back to the one antique store to take a picture of the creepy doll we saw yesterday...the one with the yellow eyes...i’ll have to take one too and post it so you all can see just how creepy this doll is...there are some really neat old dolls down here...some are in really nice condition, but they are VERY expensive...don’t think i’ll be adopting any! LOL!! i did find a really pretty ring...it’s like a spoon ring...very heavy--very pretty...
today, rob got "attacked" by a duck...there is a pair of ducks that seem to be nesting near the building...apparently, the drake either did not like rob being near the window, or he was really hungry and wanted to come inside...he kept pecking the glass...and then when someone walked by on the sidewalk outside, he got scared and tried to run under a table near the window, and smacked into the window...rob was entertained for a while as he was waiting for the rest of his co-workers to get there this morning...i told him that the drake was probably just worried that rob might try to steal his girl! LOL!!! it was funny...rob sent me a picture of the duck--he was a very nice looking duck--a mallard...and he also took a picture of the girl...she is a brown duck, just like the one i had years ago--molly...
while we were driving around, i used the gps in rob’s truck to get us back to the GE facility to pick rob up after work and it gives you three options...the fastest route, the shortest route, or other...well, we had some extra time, so i chose "other". well, "other" took us through a very interesting part of town...mind you, there were serveral very large houses, and it appeared to be a very old neighborhood, however, it did not look to be the kind of place where you would want to stop and ask for directions...it was very interesting...we got some interesting looks! it was fun just wandering around in different places...that is always interesting...we shall see what adventures tomorrow will bring...the kids are looking forward to a picnic...should be fun as long as the weather holds...
ok...so thursday, the kids and i went to the park...it was partly cloudy, but still nice...in the mid 70’s...they had fun playing and meeting some local kids...tommy made a friend named luke...skywalker, perhaps??? they played monster truck show together for a little while...he had fun...amber explored around the park...she had fun too...they actually played together for a little while...and i got my sunburn! :) ok, not a bad one, but i can actually say that i did get SOME sun! nothing major...but i was happy (????). then, the kids decided to go back to the hotel to swim one last time before we checked out on friday...they really enjoyed the pool at the hotel...no green hair this time, though! :) then, that night, me and rob and the kiddos went to dinner with the other guys that rob was working with all week, who are also from dresney land (dresden station...where rob works...)--it was a place called montano’s...excellent food...mmmmmm...rob and i had the stuffed flounder, and it was delicious...tommy had the everlasting serving of spaghetti...i mean it...no matter how much he ate, the pile looked like it was growing! i looked, and didn’t see any eyes, or see it breathing, but you’d swear it was growing!!! amber had....get ready now...she had....chicken fingers...go figure...she’s not a very adventurous eater...mini corndogs, chicke strips/fingers...maybe someday she’ll start to try new things like her brother does...oh well, at least she is eating! :) after dinner, we went to an ice cream place called katies...hand dipped ice cream...lots of flavors...i had banana pudding ice cream, tommy had coconut, and rob had a coffee flavored and blueberry cheesecake, and amber had mint chocolate chip...it was all really good! we saw a couple of nascar cars in town during the week too...the m&m car went by us (in it’s trailer, of course--which has a really cool window so you can see the car inside!) while we were pulling into the parking lot at katies...i got a picture of it while it was at the stop light...apparently there is a nascar race in martinville (?) or something like that...that is not too far from salem...guess that would explain why it was so busy towards the end of the week...oh, ane tommy got to feed the eel in the auquarium in the hotel this morning...that was neat...he only eats once every 4 days, so we had some good timing there!
friday, rob did not have to work, so we got to spend the day together as a family, which was very nice...we drove about 1/2 hour north to see the natural bridge...there were a couple other things i wanted to see there as well, but they were closed! :( big bummer...but the bridge was AWESOME...if you get down that way, go check it out...its worth it...you take a self guided trail to the bridge, which is HUGE!!! then on to a few other points of interest--an indian village, waterfalls, and some beautiful scenery...it was very nice (see my pics in my va vacation 08 folder--i did not put them all in there, since i took over 400 pics that day--digital cameras are wonderful--i hate to think how much it would have cost to take those pictures and develop them with my old camera! LOL!). after we left the bridge, we drove past one of the things i wanted to see that was not open...you could see it from the road, kind of...FOAMHENGE!!! an exact replica of stonehenge...except this one was closed for repairs...bad timing...oh well, from what i could see, it looked neat...there’s a pic in the folder too...we wanted to ttake the dinosaur walk and see the haunted house...not ghosts...just weird things this guy made...but alas, those were closed as well...we did get to see a couple of snakes when we were at the bridge, so i guess that is as close to seeing dinosaurs as i was going to get...LOL!!
after that, we drove a portion of the blue ridge parkway...it is a winding road that goes up into the blue ridge mountains...it is a beautiful drive...make sure to chekc that our if you get down that way...just not in the winter! very sharp turns and tight roads...driving on the sides of the mountains...gorgeous overlooks...we saw some deer...actually really close up...the kids threw one some girl scout cookies they were eating...the deer liked them...but then, who doesn’t?!?! LOL! (note...we didnt feed it very many...didn’t want it to get sick!)
then, it was about 5 pm, and we needed to start heading home...back to illinois...we drove all night (well, rob did...i tried to stay awake with him, but the sleep fairy got me a couple times...) and got home at about 5 am...long drive! we had a wonderful time, and now were just waiting for the temps to go up here...it was sure nice walking around with no coats for a while...it was 75 when we left virginia...23 when we got home...big change! oh well...welcome to spring in illinois! at least the dog was happy to come home a day early from club vet (we couldn’t take him with us...:(...i missed him!) he just about knocked me over when i picked him up! he’s tired today too, from playing with the other dogs...oh well, its 5:30 now...guess i should get ready to go get something to eat...been a lazy kind of day!
till next time, take care! :)

Current mood: creative
well, right now we are on vacation in Salem Virginia...well, me and the kids are on vacation...Rob is here for work...so we are tagging along and relaxing while he goes to test some equipment at the GE facility here...we’ve been going to Roanoake to have dinner and stuff...they have a mall and lots of the the stuff we have at home, the scenery is nice...there are mountains all around...not gigantic mountains, but still nice to see. i am a little disappointed in the weather though..thought it would be a little warmer...guess i won’t be coming home with a tan...it’s only been in the low 50’s...glad we brought some warmer clothes! it is still nice to get some fresh air! Me and the kids went on a little adventure today...Rob had the truck today, so we hung around the hotel today, but still had an adventure... there is a creek at the bottom of the hillthe hotel is on...surrounded by trees...so we ventured down to check it out...it wasn’t easy getting down there...the hills are quite steep, and there were lots of thorny bushes ll over the place--tommy really did not like that part! he actually got a thorn in his head! not a major injury...was but a scratch...merely a flesh wound...the creek was really nice...i took lots of pics...i’ll try to post some shortly...it was a little disturbing to see the amount of litter that was strewn throughout the woods around the creek... we did find a partial skeleton of a baby deer...it had little nubs on the skull from where the antlers would have grown...it was interesting to see...felt bad for the poor little guy...climbing back out of the "ravine" was quite the challenge, though! we had crossed the creek, and the side we were on got to be rather steep...actually we were almost climbing straight up...it was fun--challenging but fun--then, after we came back to the hotel, me and the kids had lunch and got ready to go down to the pool...actually, i was going to exercise for a little bit first..they have a fitness room with an eliptical machine right next to the pool. That is where i spent the majority of my pool time...on the eliptical machine...it was a good workout...then into the hot tub to relax...it was nice...then i actuallabd y got into the pool for a bit...swam a few times across the pool...we had the whole place to ourselves, which made it much easier to enjoy...the kids had fun too...it was a quiet relaxing day...then, after rob came back to the hotel, we went to the mall--not much going on there...not many stores...but they had a bw3’s, so we went there for dinner, and played a little trivia...just a couple games...then back to the hotel to relax a little more. tomorrow, i plan to check out downtown salem...see if they have any cool antique stores, or interesting shops...i’ll be taking rob to work tomorrow, so we can venture out a little further...and today, get tommy a haircut...hes getting a little fluffy! lol!! well...i’m sure i’ll have more to post tomorrow! c ya later! :)
OK--I’ll just tack on to this for day 2...today, we went and got tommy a walmart haircut...now he’s a true redneck...lol! :) just kidding...it turned out nice...he just didn’t want to sit still! :) after that, we went shopping...antiques...thought there’d be some cool stuff around this part of the country...want to find some neat jewelry...instead, i found a neat toy--a mechanical walking bear...it is just like one that i found in the attic of the old house we had in north dakota, except the fur is in better shape, it has darker fur, and it has the original box (which is also in excellent shape)...came back and did a little resaerch, and found that the toy is from the 30’s--pretty neat... at the antique store, we found a really creepy doll...i mean REALLY CREEPY...it had glass eyes that had turned yellow with age, and you couldn’t see the pupils...they wre really yellow...the kids were all freaded out by it too...i told tommy if he didnt leave his sister alone, i’d buy it and put it in his bedroom....bwah hah hah hah hah.....i’m a mean mommy...he was like "no way!!!"/// then, after Rob got off work, we went to this really old cemetery...back to civil war time...they had a section of the cemetery that was for civil war soldiers...several uknowns...it was really interesting...lots of old graves, dating back to to the mid 1800’s...i took lots of pictures...will post them soon... it is really pretty here, with all old houses, the trees blooming and the hils and all, but i don’t think i would want to live here...it’s pricey...$5 for a gallon of milk...at walmart!!!gas prices have been pretty consistent through the states we travelled to get here...from 3.15-3.30 per gallon!!! well, we’re going shopping again...see what other kinds of things we can find...
til next time...

well, here it is, Saturday night, and it has already been a very busy--and very fun--weekend! and just think, one more day to go!
last night, we went and hung out with our neighbors at BW3's...we played trivia and had fun...watching arm wrestling, bull riding, and truck racing! LOL!! I really like to play the trivia games at BW3...i was actually surprized to see that a high score i had back in November was still the number one high score for that particular trivia game...that was neat...we'll have to see how long it stays there...:):) they have awesome chicken and chili nachos there too...i'll eat those for my meal...Mmmmmmm! and their apple pie dessert is wonderful too! :)
well, we were out a little late, especially since we had to get up early for Tbone's soccer game this morning...oh well...it was still fun...T's game was fun too...they lost 6-4, and Tbone struggled today, because he was up so late last night with his parents...but at least we were not the ones crying when it was time to go home! :) he was having fun playing a hangman type game at BW3's...he cried when Amber logged him off...hehehe! but, since he was up so late, he did have a tough game...he let a few goals in...oh well...next week is a later game, and he'll be going to bed earlier...:):)
then, after Tbone's game, we went and watched our neighbors' son, Lucas' game...it was a really good game...they won. they played the red team, and last time the 2 teams played, it got pretty ugly...coaches yelling, parents yelling...interesting! nothing happened this time, though...guess that's a good thing...kids don't need to see the grownups acting like that...
after Lucas' game, we came home and got ready for the rest of the day...Amber was going to Medieval Times with her friend and we were going to Monster Jam (monster trucks) at the Allstate Arena...and then to the car show in Chicago...motorhead saturday, i guess you could say...i like watching the monster trucks...they are awesome...especially Gravedigger...I really think it would be neat to DRIVE--not ride in--one of those trucks...just once! the show in Chicago was neat, but the one in Indy was better...there isn't much room in Allstate Arena...it was really tight...the turns and all, and not much room for stunts during the freestyle, but still entertaining...glad we went! Gravedigger, USAF Afterburner, Taz, Donkey Kong, Devastator, Blue Thunder, Iron Warrior, and Black Stallion were there...Tbone really likes Gravedigger too...it was a god time...
after the Monster Jam, we headed to the car show...that was fun...it was a lot different than last year though...not as many neat concept cars, and it had more of a car dealer feel...last year there were a lot more of the "cars you could never afford" and concepts...it was also kind of different, because lst year, i was LOOKING for a car...this year, it was more just looking to see what was new...which was still very fun...i was a little disappointed that the Chevy Volt concept was not there...i really wanted to see that one...that figures...just my luck. but i did get to see the Audi R8...i had read about them in a magazine at the hair place, and thought they were neat, and then I saw the one in the superbowl commercial...the one that spoofed the infamous "horse scene" from the Godfather...it is a neat car...the engine is in the back...you can see it through a hatch...maybe one day...they're only 140K! Maybe i'll buy one tomorrow! LOL!!! No, i shouldn't say that...i don't want my blue to get jealous! hehehe! (ok, yes, i am one of "those people" who name their cars...Blue is not the official name yet. i have to wait until we get to know eachother better and i think of a name that fits the car's personality...havent gotten to that point yet...takes a while...). I think that me and "blue" will be happy together for quite a while. :)
well, right now i am reading The Lovely Bones..by Alice Sebold...so far it is really good...some of if is a little disturbing, but so far it is worth reading...i'll have to let you know once i am done...yes...this book made my cry already, and i'm not even 1/2 way into it...oh, well..seems like everything i read lately makes me cry...
oh well, it's getting late, and i'm tired after such a long day, so guess it's time to sign off...maybe i should get some pictures posted to go with this blog and the last one...Hmmmm....yes i should...
till next time...take care and God Bless...

Current mood: exhausted
hello all! sorry it has been so long since my last blog...been REALLY BUSY...
here is a quick recap of the fun things since the new year...
new year's day-went to see the star wars exhibit at the museum of science and industry...really cool...check out the pics in my folder...got to "ride" in the "millenium falcon"...that was neat! :)
went to the last regular season game at the RCA Dome in Indianapolis...and the last playoff game in the dome as well. those ended on a bad note-lost both of them...oh well, better luck next year.
went back the to the RCA dome for Monster Truck Jam...pics to come soon...haven't had time...that was awesome...
Tommy started indoor soccer...he's playing much better this season...told him if he has a shut out in goal that he can get a star wars action figure, and if he scores a goal, he can get one for that. it has him motivated--you can see it...they have won one, lost one, and tied one...not too bad i guess...
i started a new position at work...love it...being a manager is NOT for me! i think i was about to lose my mind!
we had a snow day at work on friday (2/1), so i actually went out and played in the snow--can't remember last time i did that...shocked my mom! I actually made a sea serpent out of the snow...turned out neat, if i don't say so myself...took pics...i'll get them out there soon...my mom was wondering if i took any of me playing in the snow...sorry...no such luck...the kids didn't come out and join me...i think they thought i was being crazy...oh well...they should know by now. :)
then, there's the superbowl...lots of funy commercials...i think i liked the baby ones best...but the game was absolutely awesome...i really thought it would be higher scoring, but i cannot complain at all about the outcome...it was great to see Eli get MVP the year after Peyton did...i was just really happy that the patriots lost...now they can be remembered as the one team who went 18-1 and LOST the superbowl...and so much for scoring more than 17, tom brady! LOL!!
well, hopefuly i can get my monster truck pics up soon...i'll send out a buletin when i get them out there...
books i've read lately: Marley and Me--really good-hard to put down-made me cry...highly recommend! Quiet Strength-book by Tony Dungy. It was well worth reading...higly recommend-even if you're not a Colts fan...:)
well, here you have it...a quick recap...if i forgot something, i'll add it later...:) til then, take care!

Movie and Book Review Monday...
Hello all! We've been really busy lately, and have not been to a movie in a while...I mean I can't remember the last movie we went to before this weekend...it might have been 300...wow!!
Well this past weekend, we went to see Beowulf. The previews looked good, and I remember reading the poem in high school, plus the kids wanted to see it...it was pretty good! The whole movie is CG, and you can tell--especially in the beginning of the movie, but as it goes on, some of the images start looking more and more real. The animation was not quite as good as 300, but it was still good. There were a couple times when it actually did not look like CG. The story itself was good...there was a lot that I did not remember from reading the poem (but that was a LONG time ago...), but some things I actually did remember. There was quite a lot of humor in the movie, not sure if it was intentional or if what, but we did chuckle a few times...in one part of the movie, Boewulf is fighting Grendel--naked...which was kind of weird in itself, but what was funny was that there kept being various items strategically placed to block out certain things that could have created an R rating...after a couple times, it started to become humorous, almost like the Austin Powers movie...when he was nekkid and everywhere he walked, there was something to cover the privates...hehehe!!! the whole movie was pretty well done...I felt sorry for poor Grendel. I don't remember feeling sorry for him when I read it, though...maybe that will be my next reading assignment for myself--to re-read Beowulf...Hmmm...not sure if I feel that ambitious right now...but someday. I also know that there have been comments made that some of the Lord of the Rings was taken from Beowulf...so I kept watching to see if anything jumped out at me...there were a couple things, but I don't want to go too much into that for those who have not seen it but plan too...be interested to hear your thoughts on that...:) I think one of my biggest Beowulf memories from High School was that it sure was something fun to say when you were belching! LOL!!! I'd give the movie 3 1/2 stars out of 5...lots of adult themes...went over the kids' heads, but I think Grendel was a little scary for Tommy...he would jump whenever they showed him and it wasn't expected...but Tommy says it wasn't scary...LOL!!!!
The next movie we saw this weekend was Transformers...THAT WAS AWESOME!!!! the transformers were really neat, and there was lots of humour throughout the movie...Tommy got this one for his B-day. We watched it Saturday night, after we got home from dinner and watching Beowulf...busy movie day! The effects were awesome and the story was pretty good too...the interaction between Sam and Bumblebee was great...lots of laughs...especially at the car lot before they got together...and when Sam realized what Bumblebee really was...OK--where can I get a car like that!?!?!?! There were some really cool bots in the movie--I think one of my favorite parts of the movie was when all the autobots were together in Sam's yard, hiding from his parents...around the house...that whole part was great! lots of fun for the whole fam...if you haven't seen it, I recommend it, even if you didn't watch the Transformers when you were a kid...I hope there is a second movie...I really enjoyed the first one! 4 stars! :)
We also watched Shrek 3 this weekend...It was pretty good--funny, but i think i liked the first 2 better...I will say, they have done a good job with the Shrek movies of not letting the jokes from the movies get used so much that they get old...that was something that bothered me about the 2nd Pirates movie...they overdid the Rum jokes I think...Shrek is still pretty funny...The kids really enjoyed it...it was good, and i'd watch it again...i'd say 3 stars...
There's a couple movies I'm anxious to see..."No Country for Old Men", and "Inkheart". No Country looks really intense, and I just finished reading Inkheart, and it's sequel, Inkspell, and they are both good books...Inheart is supposed to be coming out Sept 08...so you still have time to read it before the mivie comes out :)
That brings me to the book review section of this blog...I just finished reading both of the "Inkworld" stories, written by Cornelia Funke. I have to thank Amber for introducing me to these books...she brought Inkheart home from the school library a couple of years ago, and started reading it. Then she bought the boof from a bookfair at school so she could take her time reading it...After she finished it, she let me read it. It is a long story (400+ pages), but well worth reading...but i don't know if i'd read it out loud (this will make more sense after you read the book...). It's about a girl whose father has a very interesting ability-one i think would be neat to have...he can read things out of books...literally...well, this causes an interesting string of events with characters from real life and the story intermingling. It was very well written and very fun to read...you get to feel like you know the characters. These are childrens' books, but they are also very enjoyable to adult readers. Amber was reading the second book, Inkspell, while i was reading the first...i told her to hurry, because i wanted to read the next book...I think it was just as good as the first book...actually made me cry in one part...that is how well you get to know the characters in the story...now i am anxiously waiting for the third book-Inkdeath- to come out...it is already out in Germany-in German...does me no good...I will have to wait with all the other German illiterate folks until April 08 for the English version to be released...what is that-5 months or so? have to start a countdown! Another good book by Cornelia Funke is Dragon Rider...that was another good book...about a boy and a dragon and their adventure to save the remaining dragons of the world. Cornelia Funke is a very good storyteller--she knows how to draw you in and keep you in. I strongly recommend these books...I have not read "the Thief Lord" yet, but would like to soon...maybe I'll get a hold of that one before Inkdeath comes out...I'll let you know how it is...:)
Well, I guess that is enough for one day...at least maybe now if you are looking for something to do, you will have an idea of a good movie to watch or a good book to read :)
Have a great Thanksgiving!
