So I didn't get to put anything in for Christmas and new year coz frankly well, not much to tell. Best wishes for the new year to everyone though. January though, was a tough time aside from blustery heatwave temperatures that just really make ya feel like you have to sit in one position and not move in case the heat smothered you...I finally got the call up for my surgery. After initially getting sick in August last year, and then placed on the waiting list not long after that I got my date, the 29th January 2009. Well it certainly came up fast and I was almost completely prepared, though just how prepared you can be for a radical hysterectomy I'm not sure exactly. So I turn up at 7am and found out that I was first on the list, YAY no waiting around for hours getting stressed out. Blissfully I was totally unaware of what was happening all morning. The rest of the day, hmm let's just say that instead of my usual reaction to anesthetic of throwing up violently and getting really sick. I was a little on the ahhh loopy side. Blood pressure skyrocketing to dangerous highs and babbling about needing to go home to the point of trying to climb out of the bed. Then to top it off the bed I had assigned to me was not available and I ended up in the children and adolescent ward. Yep I am a big kid after all. The best of all was the self-administered morphine pump, numbness is bliss. After 4 days I was sent off home, to rest and recuperate. Hmm okay, still a heatwave going on in the real world but it is summer so ya supposed to deal. Home on Monday back at the hospital on the following Saturday with gastro, and spent the afternoon hooked up to an IV while outside scorched to nearly 50 deg C. This is when my little tale gets interesting, clad only in a summer nightie and robe I leave the hospital to find out that Bendigo is burning. More importantly for me anyway the fire was raging it's way to my little home. The closer we got the more surreal it became as we were able to get in, grab what I could and get my little dog Rusty. The house was filled with smoke and ash, I could hardly breath inside let alone outside, we went back to my friend's place and stayed the night there. Around lunch time on Sunday I came home, nervous and stressed but my little house a 130 year old miner's cottage on a very dry and arid looking large block was still standing. With all of the embers and ash and gale force winds my home was untouched. The fire came within a block or so, so close and yet far enough the biggest problem was ember showers no one can work out how it didn't catch alight, the front yard so dried and filled with branches and stuff. (well until tomorrow when it gets all cleaned up!). So then we got a break with the weather the winds changed direction, the flames indiscriminately destroyed properties, homes, businesses, animals and human life. Nothing was sacred in its path. The state still burns and we're still on fire watch because of the strong winds. We mourn the loss of life, of property and yet marvel at the generosity of strangers in the face of such a overwhelming disaster. Then to top off an extreme fortnight, yesterday I turned 46, still unwell from surgery, gastro and sinusitis attacks and yes I survived that too. So my new years resolution is simple I'm a survivor and that's what I intend on doing. Surviving. The reason for the radical hysterectomy, put bluntly is endeometriosis, I have suffered with it since my teens, I was unable to have children because of it, and now, now they doctor's can't guarantee that they have all of the endo-deposits out, as it was very advanced this time. And yes gross stuff to talk about but in the endgame who cares how gross I can talk freely about it now and maybe my experiences can help someone else if she is suffering like I have. So what does the new year bring for me? I am doing my Honours degree this year, I completed my double major in Philosophy and Religious studies, and Film, Lit and Art. I have decided to change perspective slightly on my thesis and am doing a philosophical look at horror movies, more specifically an existentialist's look at horror movies in particular vampire movies from the 1930's to today. A chance to meet the two gorgeous stars of Supernatural Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki, in Sydney in April and also to catch up with my dearest friends while I am up there. I had the awesome chance to meet Jared last year when he came out for Supa Nova and he is a really nice, and genuine person. So with the two of them here it is gonna be a double dose of ........
Aside from study and writing the thesis I intend on having my novel manuscript edited to an inch of its life and sent off in the hopes of publication.
Not too bad a year at all, and considering the huge start I have had to 2009 it is gonna be very interesting.
Be Sacred, Be Cool, Be Wild. Go Far ... Words do more than plant miracle seeds...

YAY finally got around to doing a little updating on the blog and profile. I have decided to start posting reviews on books, my favourite shows and movies. In particular movies, next year I start my honours year, my thesis is on Horror movies and why we feel the need to be scared. With an emphasis on Vampire Movies from the first until recent, why do they continue in popularity. So with each movie I watch I'm gonna review it here, I'ld be very interested in reading other people's views as part of my research. I will probably do a bit of a survey later on as well just to find out what people really think of Vampire movies and the whole horror movie genre. A small side note!! It's raining!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For those of you who don't know here in Australia, in particular where I live in Victoria we have been in severe drought so any rain is something to celebrate!!!! okkies time to go to bed and try to sleep. I'll be back sooner than well soon. Smile and the world will smile with you, frown and they will run!!

Sigh I feel awful coz I haven't updated for so long, but this year is basically passing in a blur of time without reality kicking in. SO for now with a slight case of insomnia I am quickly fixing that situation right now and intend on updating more regularly and will even update my profile and blog page hehehe

Hmm had an interesting day today, we had a bit of a family reunion or more of a get together, with aunts, uncles, cousins, baby 2nd cousins, and so on. I am the eldest girl and second eldest of 21 cousins, and quite a few turned up today with their little ones. Kinda made me feel old after celebrating my 45th birthday two weeks ago, and looking at the cousins I used to babysit and muck around with are all now married and have little ones. Wow, it was wonderful but at the sametime it was scary I guess. Time stands still for no man.
Take the time to say hi to those around you and even more time for those who are far away.

YAY we actually have rain, yes that stuff falling from the sky folks it is no alien invasion it is rain!! Sorry but for those who don't know where I live we are in the middle of a drought and a stinking hot summer to boot. Rain makes us all a little excited when it happens, especially when it is a good steady soaking rain like this. Anyhoo I hope that everyone has had a great Christmas and new year, I can't believe we are already half way through January and yes there are Easter eggs for sale in the shops!! SHEESH!! Sorry it has taken a while for me to post here but with visiting family from interstate, the holidays and the extreme heat well I must admit I have been a little tardy. Hanging my head in shame now! hehehe Those of us who love Supernatural get your act together and voice your opinions, we want a fourth series and we want to see the rest of season three. Our boys need us!!! I am almost ready to put my latest webpage up, yes I have a new one, it has taken forever to put up but I hope the end result will be worth it all. Hmm okkies so I think that's all of my rambling for now ... Want something to watch? Supernatural Want something to read? Christine Feehan's Carpathian series Want something to look at? Sit on the side of a lake, pond, river, creek, ocean ... I think you're getting the gist of it. Want something to love? Adopt a puppy or a kitten Want something to do? Visit someone less fortunate than yourself. Want something different to do? Start a new hobby. But most of all, live life to the full, love, live and laugh!!

Sigh sorry it has been so long since I have posted anything but Real Life has a way of getting in the way sometimes. Anyway I am back and breathing and trying to work on too many projects at the sametime hehehehe. Just a little rant to mark my return, I recently bought the DVD set of Supernatural 2 from Kmart here in Bendigo. Got it at a good price and was happy with most of it, until I went to activate the commentary by Jenson and Jared on In my Time of Dying, nope no commentary, nothing, nada, cannot get it to work, sigh the rest of the special features seem okay. I was just wondering if anyone else has the same problem and if they were able to get it working????????? I really wish that they were more user friendly with their extras when you pay so much for these sets. Not that I am complaining about Supernatural at all, nope not me I love my show and well except for Channel 10 not even saying if they are returning the show on Monday in line with America. Though they only good thing is the internet it is amazing what you find to download here! LOL Okkies had my rant and announced my return, sinus attack and all and I promise I won't take so long to update my blog. Remember be nice to the spooks coz one day you might be one!!!

Then I can get back to my own writing and hopefully get my novel published. So I guess enough procrastinating and had better get back to it... The essay won't write itself! LMAO Spread the love and watch the premiere of Supernatural on Thursday if you are in the US ... or if like me here in Australia and umm yeah the Internet is a wonderful creation!! Can't wait for Friday!! Remember life is too short to hold a grudge so go out and hug someone instead...

Did a happy dance today I got my new glasses today and I can see again. Wow don't realise just how bad your eyesight can get until you put new glasses on and everything is in focus again! LOL And the prescription sunglasses are the coolest!! Just gotta get used to wearing bifocals and walking up and downstairs with em! LOL Still I don't care I can read and see again that is going to make things a lot better believe me. Especially seeing I have so many assessments due over the next few weeks. Sigh I love uni I really do but I do wanna vent here a little bit when you have students who deliberately ask inane questions and 'hijack' tutorials mainly I reckon is coz they like to her their own voices... frustrating when you try to voice your own opinion and get spoken over. Aside from that though we are studying Emily Dickinson's poetry in American Literature, wow is it something. Love her work. Okkies I am outta here gotta go and finish cooking dinner, homemade beef macaroni and cheese just like my nana taught me... Can anyone say yum???? Live, laugh and dance, the world is your oyster do something good with it...

sitting here at the computer on a perfect prespring evening and feeling pretty good bout things, well aside dumb health issues i am feeling pretty good. Just have to get motivated into writing essays!! Eww the bane of my university experience, hehehe nah it's all good, it's just a different style of writing. Anyhoo, not doing much other wise just cruising and procrastinating big time. So aside from essays I am still working away with my personal writing and my novel that has the potential for publication as an ebook. Tonight is the blood moon, time to get rid of the nasty feelings and let some positive energy surge through, so if you get a chance go out and have a look, burn a list of negative thoughts and feels and embrace the year ahead. Clunking around in my fevered imagination is so much stuff it could give a person a headache, which means one of two things, either I do some work, either personal or study, or get off the damned puter and do something completely different. Hmm decisions! LOL Hoping tomorrow I get my new glasses and I can actually read stuff without squinting, ahh to be normal again! hehehehe so remember smile and the world smiles with you, frown and no one gives a damn.
