I’ve been very busy in the studio working on bone sculpture and working on my new sculpture the aluminum skull. I finally got a 3in by 3in hole drilled into my skull and now I have to clean the rest of the investment out of the skull and finish my sculpture. Should have it done by the end of next week. Depending if I decide to polish it or leave it its aluminum color. I also have been getting ready for another aluminum pour. This pour would be two more skulls and another bone sculpture. Another great thing happened this week in aluminum. I finally learned to weld aluminum. It’s weird but I can’t wait to weld on it some more. I’ve also been getting bronze cast and I’m one step closer to completing another big bronze Bone sculpture. I hope to have it done for the Malton show in November. Also in my studio I’ve been getting my sculpture ready for the Andrews Art Museum show coming up. I’ve got one really big sculpture that is a bit fragile so I’m a little nervous getting it down there. Lots of prep work going on in the studio because I’m getting ready for the bronze and aluminum pours. Tons of metal work also going on in the studio right now because of all the metal bone casting. I have also been pushing along on some bone plaster casting. Joni has been busting her ass casting bones like crazy and getting closer to having some more very fragile bone sculpture completed. As always thanks for your ongoing support of the art revolution and remember to check out my website. WWW.AARONKENT.ORG

This week things are busy as hell LOL!! I had to go up to Chicago to pick up some sculpture for this Andrews Art Museum show. While I was there I got a moment to go to the Chicago Art Institute and see some great art. I found my good friend Francis Bacon hanging out and that made me happy just to see that. Saw a bunch of other great artists as well but to much to list. I finally got to see the Bean in Chicago as well. It’s a lot better then I expected for public artwork. If you get a chance you should go and see it. Got back from Chicago and I got back into the studio right away. Got a ton of work to do and thankfully Joni my new studio assistant has really stepped up and really has been helping me out. So I’m getting a lot of work done and that’s awesome thanks to Joni. I still have a lot of metal work to do and I also have a ton of casting work to do. It’s sometimes a little overwhelming how much work has to get done in the studio. But I am happy being in my studio and creating my sculpture. Don’t thing I would be really happy doing anything else. On the last note I got another bronze at Malton Gallery so I’m really happy because it’s not in my studio and it’s out where people can see it. Since the last blog a lot has happened in and out of the studio. This week I got accepted into a show at the Andrews Art Museum! I am also working on a proposal for an art installation in 2010 at Andrews Art Museum as well. So I’m really excited about this. Back in the studio I have finished one of the Aluminum Casted Paintings and will be taking it over to Malton Gallery on Friday. I did get another aluminum pour done and now have a full solid aluminum skull to finish and get ready for my sculpture. I also have some smaller bones casted as well and will be using them for outside installations. I did finally get some outside installation work photographed thanks to Dave Jarred. Well trying to get back into the blogging again and working on my website. I’m a little rusty but getting back into it. This week I did an aluminum pour. Yes a little out of my element but something that I think I’m going to continue. This week I casted the first of its kind a casted stains painting. I basically made the painting in wax then casted it in aluminum and now going to use corrosive chemicals to paint on it some more. It’s a continuation of the stains series but a new start to some new media in the stains seriers. I’m still working in the metal shop finishing the aluminum right now and getting it ready for the chemical process. I also have some bronze bones I will be casting on Monday but for right now got a lot of metal work to do. Well I knows it been a while but to really honest I went back to school to finish up my BFA (bachelors in fine art) emphasis in sculpture. I’m now finishing up and now back to keep you posted about ongoing projects in my studio. Since my last blog I’ve completed a lot of sculpture and all of it has been posted on my website WWW.AARONKENT.ORG in the sculpture gallery. I’m still in my studio working my butt off on I think 3 or 4 Bronze projects and like 6 to 8 plaster projects. So I have a lot of catching up to do with you and all my supporters on all the work that’s been going on in the studio. I am applying to a couple of master programs but still have a ton of applications for shows and grants and paperwork to deal with as well. I hope to keep this back up and running again every week just to keep you posted and updated to what’s going on. Well it's been another two busy weeks for me in the studio. I'm really excited this week because I finally got my rubber mold material. So now I can get started in making new bone molds for new sculpture. So far this week I got one mold almost done. I also have two more molds I'm getting ready to start on. Then depending how much rubber I have left I'll see if I can't make a couple of smaller bone molds. This means I can get started on new bone sculpture and get more casting done in bronze and in plaster. Lately since the bones have been getting a little bit thinner, I've started using a plaster and concrete mix to keep the bones from cracking and falling apart. So far it seems to be working out pretty well. I still have a lot of casting to do. I am still casting the three bone sculptures out of plaster. I still have so much work to do with all of them. It's mostly getting the positive cast that takes a lot of the time. I'm also working on a couple of bronze sculptures. This being said I'm also going to start selling bone prints to start raising money for these bronze projects. So if you're a fan of my artwork this would be a good time to get a bone print. I'm going to make some small additions of bone sketches or pictures of sculpture with a silkscreen. My hope is to raise the money needed to cast the bronze sculptures. I'll keep you posted to when they come out and will probably put them up for sale on my website. Other then that I can't say too much else is going on. Just been really busy casting. As always thanks for your ongoing support of the art revolution and remember to check out my website. WWW.AARONKENT.ORG

I'm back again and let just start off with hoping you had a happy holiday!!! Yes there are more holidays to come and I hope my studio won't suffer. But that all that remains to be seen. Yes I've been busy and yes I missed last week on my blog post. My apologies for not writing last week for all those who look forward to these blogs. So I've been in my studio doing more plaster casting. LOL imagine that me casting bones in plaster. I don't like it as much as bronze but due to expense and cost plaster seems to be producing some great sculpture. So I'm really excited to be getting more work out and thanks to Zack I'm getting a lot of work done. I've been in and out of my studio a lot these past two weeks so it been hard to get a good 8 hour day in the studio. I have been starting some new bone plaster castings. I have three new plaster sculptures started and one somewhat done. The bigger sculpture needs a pedestal and to be designed with plants to finish it off and the others still have a lot of casting work before I can even start putting them together. I am also working on a huge bronze and a couple of smaller ones to. Money is always a factor here so we'll keep hoping people like you will buy my work so I can get money to fund my obsession of bronze sculpture. Even if you have no money a donation always helps to, every little bit helps plus I do have a ton of prints for sale to. As always thanks for your ongoing support of the art revolution and remember to check out my website. WWW.AARONKENT.ORG

Yes I've been extremely busy and so my blog has suffered as a result. But I'm back and have a lot of work or sculpture to share. Well it's only one sculpture but it's done and it's on the website WWW.AARONKENT.ORG . Were to begin? Well let's start I built another pedestal for my sculpture and to support an ash bed to go with the Bone sculpture. This sculpture is all plaster and ash. So for me it was a learning experience as well as creating new sculpture. The plaster properties are not as easy to build with as bronze. It a lot more fragile and I used an epoxy to hold them together and even then they are still very brittle. I still had a blast making this sculpture. I had a hell of a time moving the sculpture into the pedestal and it took a crew of 6 thanks to John, Emily, Zack, Jamie, Carol!!! After I got it in the pedestal I had to move it to it's destination for its showing. It broke again on the move to its destination, so I had to repair it. After repairing it I started to lay down the ash bed the bones rested .. hours of sifting ash and smoothing it over the surface it started looking really completed. The sculpture really turned out very nice and I was very pleased with myself. So I finally finished a great piece of sculpture. On top of this I also had a print sale with Tiger Lily Press. It was a good show and I had a lot of nice people come through and saw my work. I had a lot of nice work for cheep. So if you didn't show up you missed some good work by all. Other then that I still have a couple of plaster sculptures and a couple of bronze sculptures I'm working on in the studio. Oh last but not least I'm also working on a new website for the Bone series. Yes I'm working on a book or catalogue of all my Bone sculpture and I'm developing a new website for the Bone sculptures as well. I'll keep you informed to the progress of both. I hope to get both done sometime in 2008 – 2009. As always thanks for your ongoing support of the art revolution and remember to check out my website. WWW.AARONKENT.ORG

Sorry about last week but I got a little to busy to update my blog but that doesn't mean I haven't been working in my studio. I finished another sculpture and I'm really excited about how it turned out. I finished painting the pedestal and sealed it so when I planted the plants it wouldn't rot or get damaged from the dirt or water. I also finished doing the patina work on the bronze casting. Getting it ready for this sculpture. I thought the bronze element of this sculpture was a beautiful element in this sculpture. After I got this done I took it to a planter and went over the plants and which soil to use because of color. Everything was gone over and I picked it up later that week. I installed this piece in this atrium of this building of the Art Academy of Cincinnati. It really turned out very nice. Other then getting this sculpture completed I also have still been working on these plasters bone sculptures. Again I almost have another pedestal built for this plaster bone sculpture. It's 48in by 30in so it's a pretty decent size and I looking forward to putting this sculpture together. I'm also acquiring ash for the plaster bones. This will complete the base of the bones and give it an ash bed to lie in. I'm really excited to finally see this sculpture together. This week has been studio, studio, studio, for me. I basically have been working on three projects. Two sculptures are plaster and one sculpture is bronze. Let's start out in that I built a pedestal for the bronze sculpture. It should look really cool because I'm going to plant around the bronze sculpture in the pedestal. Yes I'm crazy but I recessed the base down a bit in the pedestal to put plants in it and then put the bronze sculpture on top of the plants. I'm really excited about this idea but I still have a lot of work to do to it. I still have to paint it and seal it from nature but it's getting there. So I've also been working on these two plaster sculptures. Both measure about 48 x 30 so there a little on the big size. One is almost all glued together and the other needs a lot of work. I still have to chase all the seams around the plaster bones and start gluing it together. It looks together in the picture but that's just because I was figuring out the shape. Now I have to disassemble and recreate it again. I'm really like working in the plaster and probably will keep on doing plaster casting to keep more sculpture being produced out of my studio. As always thanks for your ongoing support of the art revolution and remember to check out my website. WWW.AARONKENT.ORG
