Being Aware....truly is important....not ignoring things.....really important.  Trust your instinct and be AWARE!  Okay.....not that I’m trying to be dramatic, but yes, I am trying to catch your attention.  Okay, so I want to share something personal to hopefully help remind all of you how important it is to take care of yourself.  Most of you that truly know me, know that I don’t bask in the sun frequently or expose my white skin for the hopes of getting a tan...it didn’t work in High School and I don’t think it will work now.  So....I really don’t even get as much sun exposure as most of you all. Thus, I felt I should remind all of you to check your skin for irregularities.  If you have moles, observe them to see if they have changed color, or the shape of them have changed, or that they irritate because they are rubbing against your clothes.

So, I had a pretty large, blemish----okay mole, one of those flat to the skin ones....that I just knew had changed color to a dark brown. I have had insurance for years now, and finally I inquired to my doctor about it, I just recently decided that I was getting to the age that perhaps I should have a doctor. She looked at it and confirmed that the color and irregular borders didn’t look, right.  So she cut it out.  She sent it with another one for testing, and the one on my shoulder had "cancer-like" cells, this means that it could have turned into cancer within time.  The lab suggested she go in for another cutting and I am happy to report she got it all!  We also tested two other areas, with irregular shapes and they too came back fine too!!   To be perfectly honest, I wasn’t too worried as my Mother has had similar instances and I knew it could be a reality for myself. So especially, if it runs in your family, be aware! This being said, yes the sun can have a factor, but also genetics as well.

Please, be aware of your body, and if your gut says something has changed, than by all means get it checked out.  I am thankful that I finally did.

Thanks for reading~ xoxoAmers

I feel very happy to report that the MDA drive was a success thus far!  I am fortunate to be surrounded by many very giving individuals who were willing and finacially able to help in sending 2 kids to camps!!  It took many donations, but with the help of some anonymous matcher, of which $477 dollars was matched, we made $1319.46 to send two kids to camp for a week!  We needed a total of $1300, as the cost is $650 per week.

A special thanks to T.J. who participated in collecting donations with me!

If you would still like to donate my website address is located on my main page and previous blogs. Simply copy and paste to make your secure donation. The page will be open till March 28th!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Hello to my MySpace friends and family!

Tomorrow  I turn in my funds for MDA--so it would be awesome if anyone can help contribute a little more mula for my turn in date!  If you are unable to help today---just know that the website will be set up till March 28th---so you can still help!

I really could use your help in making a goal of mine become a reality! You see it is my desire to help get at least one child to the Muscular Dystrophy Camp for a week!! You can imagine the excitement and joy a child would have relating to other children who have similar challenges! A week filled with fun activities and learning opportunities that will instill memories that will last a lifetime!!!!

With the help of all of you, just donating about $5, we could make this a realilty for one child!!! So please, if you can find it in your heart to forego one fancy coffee this week, or one pint of Ben and Jerry's ice cream, you would help make this a reality!!

The cost of one week of camp is $650.00! I have a few duplicates of personal and professional pages, however, an average of $5 would make that goal a reality! I have till February 28th to reach my goal, so as I stated, I need your help!

Any donation is helpful! Don't feel if you can only spare a few dollars that it won't help, because it will!

Feel great about helping a child and please make your donation through the secure MDA website below. For those of you who don't use credit or debit cards please print out the coupon connected to the link of the donation page. This coupon will give you the mailing details for your check, cash, or money order!

This year, I have the honor and pleasure of participating in MDA's Ashland Lock-up 08 to help "Jerry's Kids®". To reach my goal I need your help!

I'd like to include you or your company on my list of contributors who are helping me reach my goal. Your donation would help MDA continue the important fight against muscular dystrophy. Check out my web page by clicking on the link above. There you'll find all kinds of information about MDA, and be able to make your tax-deductible donation on-line using your credit card.

MDA serves people in our community with neuromuscular disease by providing clinics, support groups, assistance with the purchase and repair of wheelchairs, braces and communication devices, and summer camp for kids. MDA also funds research grants to help find treatments and cures for some 43 neuromuscular diseases that affect people of all ages, right here in our community.

I sincerely hope that you'll take the opportunity to support MDA. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call or e-mail me.

On behalf of the families MDA serves, thank you!

Warmest Regards,

Amy Warn
