Home again from sea, and hopefully forevermore away from the small isles run.  I'm back to the Hebrides next wednesday, which was always my favourite ship and the best bunch of guys I've ever worked with.  I only get a week off, but when you're going back to somewhere you like, it's not biggy.

I've got 8 weeks off! Well, 7 weeks left of 8 weeks off, but the question I have to ask myself is... what the feck am I gonna do with it all? Apart from a 3 day course in shields, a visit to Johns and a 2 days in fort william, I've got a big blank canvas. Oh apart from our californian holiday in 3 weeks :) Suggestions for constructive things to occupy my time gratefully accepted. I've already joined the gym, so becoming less of a fat bastard is one of my primary aims.  I can't become less of a fud though, it's in my nature.

Whilst visiting Stirling Castle on the way north with Michelle yesterday, I just had to take a photo of this bus.  Yes, I know it's childish, but it made me laugh.

Well, the two weeks have flown by as usual, but it's time for me to head back to the tempestuous seas around the small isles in the wee tub that seems destined to be my home for the forseeable.  Anyway, I'm hoping this fortnight will pass as quickly as the last two weeks have.  You know how to get hold of me if you want to say hi while I'm away.  Later y'all.

Just looking through some of these people on this site, a recurring theme seems to be present.  Everyone in Fife seems to have a dead friend.  Are they just unlucky? Do they all come a cropper in fully-laden corsas? It just seems inordinately high? Not judging, just noting.

Comments?

Firstly, It's at least 18 months away, but as you know I like to be prepared, and aim for long term goals.  Question is guys, what do I buy for my next car? I'm thinking around the 20k-ish mark for a budget (although depends on income and whether I've bought a new house.)  Obvious choice would be an IS250, but there are lots of impreza type things to sway me.... your thoughts, as ever, are appreciated. The car needn't be new, but no more than 2 years old. Yes John, I am considering a nice Audi Avant, and no Billy, I'm not considering a [insert name of stupid yank tank]

Here's a good idea that gave me a chuckle...

Step 1 - Locate 1 x sheet A4 paper.

Step 2 - Select a local shop.

Step 3 - Print out a sign on A4 Paper - Sign reads "No Coloureds"

Step 4 - Affix to Door/Window of Shop

Step 5 - Sit Back and chuckle

Oooh I could crush a grape.

I'm just home from sea again, and it turns out it was probably my last stint on the Hebrides.  I've been promoted to go as acting chief officer round the fleet, which is a good thing, but it left me feeling a bit sad to be leaving behind the ship that has essentially been my home, and the crew I've worked, lived, eaten, relaxed and drunk with for the past 3 years.  Anyway, I'll be back, and it's onward and upward I guess.
It's a bit of extra cash too, which always helps. A whole heap of extra hassle and stress, but I guess it's what I'm there to do!

Thanks for listening guys, you slay me.
