Hello fans, been a while, so now to catch you up. We signed a deal last month with Global Eyes Entertainment, with veteran Preston Sullivan onboard already securing several European territories in the last couple months since the Midem festival in France. I just returned from the SXSW showcase in Austin, Texas including several meetings with industry friends, radio and booking. Hoping to secure the Texas market again for touring soon this year as the new single moves toward adds. We moved throughout Texas, traveling to the Padre islands on the beach for a few days rest and camping back to Austin then on to New Orleans's Bourbon Street for a travel through, last blow out and back home, meeting family I haven't seen in a while throughout our travels. A great trip I will always remember I'm sure and three of the most grueling weeks of my life on the move.
The week prior to SXSW we we're at CRS in Nashville meeting radio PDs doing a bit of PR for our new single that is hitting radio now, "Bright Lights." Here's a link for radio station PDs and numbers for you to call and request the new single (available to country radio stations on CDX VOL 469). Please stay within the area of where you live, and remember all you do helps us as a street team, calling radio for request of the single. We also are working with Jerry Duncan radio promotions in Nashville and with Jade Entertainment on PR and radio with Judy Ade a veteran of the industry along with her colleague Jay Karl working the secondary market radio panel. We hope to gain some ground in the next few weeks, only 2 weeks in, the single seems to be doing very well.
Now, on a bad note in the last few months is this, my little dog Cooter got picked up and carried away by a hawk -- killed and eaten by a hawk, what a way to go. I really miss him a lot and to top it off a few weeks after that my ex-wife Melissa was in a bad car accident, hit by a drunk driver in the side hurting her really bad ,she is tough though and I'm sure she will rebound in a few months. I seem to feel helpless, I wish I could be there for her to help her out but as CSN once wrote, "too much water moving underneath the bridge, let the water come a carry us away." God Bless, Neil Carswell

Well, its been three months since I wrote all you die hard fans but here we are again with Christmass coming on and a New Year. Thanks for all the support throughout the years with the records. This month I am giving you a link for radio with all the phone numbers and program directors in your state. Please don't call out of state, this will cause a shutdown on a single very fast, so keep it at the home plate. You can also view the CDX compilation number here, and the track number is 19 as of now. CDX is a format that goes to every radio station in North America (mainstream, secondary radio, local non-reporting stations, etc.). So, if you don't have one that's on the list call any country station in your town you know and they will have the single on CDX, I would bet.
The single, of course, is "Altar Call" on the new record, "Keep You Guessing," which is in production stage and will be in distributed to stores soon in the New Year of '09. Remember, the list is reporting stations and they matter the most, so help us out all you can in promotion, these are the ones to Billboard, so call and ask for the program director, be cordial and polite and know the powers to be. Nevertheless, all the more helps with your support; so please phone in.
Now, as for me as as artist and a carpenter, I 'm here with family in North Carolina living the holidays with family and friends as so they claim to be dwelling in the land of languor, surviving, loving, and living. For the month of September I was in, Sedona Arizona with my friend, Nanette Anderson, Chris Anderson's wife (Chris Anderson of the band "The Outlaws") while she underwent treatment for Lyme Disease. Nevertheless, being the trooper she is, we hiked, traveled to the west rim of the Grand Canyon, to the Navaho country of the Canyon De Chelly on a horseback journey accompanied by old friend and Copperhead bassist, Seve Keim, for a trip of a lifetime, ending with a trip throughout Memphis in October on my birthday, where it all begin in the land of blues. Now, here we are ... so call in to that radio and enjoy the slide show on my website (www.neilcarswell.com - look at the bottom of the PHOTOS page) and have a great Christmass and remember the savior of the world not Santa or whatever they come up with next. Peace and all good will to all good men. Neil Carswell

I wasn't gonna write a blog this month but here it is anyway, I feel I owe it to all you fans and for what it is worth, we will have a random drawing for a free album release to all you friends but it is only for the ones, yes you guys, who send your home address to us for a free record. It will be a random in drawing -- too many to give away to all but you don't have a chance if you don't send that address, so send it on, old school way this month and as soon as we print you may get a surprise in the mail, so please all fans start sending your address to us. The single and artwork are ready with a new edit for radio and being manufactured. We should hit the airwaves by middle or end of August. Please request "Altar Call" all you can to your stations and keep you ears open. This month's song is "Nothing Left to Lose," a free download for newsletter subscribers. I wonder who I wrote this one about? I've seen it coming, listen to the words. God Bless!!!!! Neil Carswell

Off to North Carolina again to, "tie up a few loose ends, I'm gonna work a week, make a hundred dollars and hit the road again, so I don't want you to think you're the first one to leave me out here on my own, no this ain't gonna be the first time this old cowboy spent the night alone." Marshall tucker that is, and it is just the way I feel. Things are tough all over now and the love of my life and I are in a heck of a mess and I'm searching for the answers. Nevertheless, the good news is after 16 years I went to the crossroads again, this time with no shots of Thorazine or One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest or Pink Floyd's, "there be no more ah!!!! but you may fell a little sick." So there it is, I'm ready to do what I am to do in life with this record and all to follow the Lord and his paths of direction. We will release, so I'm told, soon in the next month "Altar Call" as the first single, so it is our newsletter free download again for this month. Call all radio stations and request the song to help, and keep Melissa and I in you prayers -- this is our record and I will put it out undaunted as a tribute of how and where love finds a way to fulfill and to last through it all. I love you Melissa and always will, you changed my life. Thanks to all the fans for your support, Sincerely, Neil Carswell

I'm still in North Carolina and will be coming home to Tennessee at the end of this month to seal the deal with Asperion Records and get the new record out on the streets. I've been playing a few acoustic shows and have enjoyed performing live again. I miss my wife Melissa very much, we have never been apart this long before and we have been having relationship problems, which is one of the reasons I left Tennessee for awhile, besides to make some money out performing and with my company. It has been a hard time in my life here lately because Melissa has been my biggest fan and best friend for so many years, her birthday is May 18th, and I want be able to spend it with her for the first time I can ever remember. We have traveled so many miles together made so many records and she has been the biggest inspiration to me of probably anyone in my life. This life of music tears you apart somehow, the bars, the drinking, the life in the fast lane and all. I wish sometimes that I could have just lived a more simple life, but I chose not to. Music has been a calling in my life, without living my life the right way. Nevertheless, I have been so blessed but it hasn't been worth the loss I have seen through the years and I refuse to let the Devil take my Melissa away. This month is for her, Happy Birthday Baby, I'll be coming home soon. So this month I will be giving my newsletter subscribers the free download song called "Since I Met You" which is her song and will be on my new record along with a lot more she inspired me to write. I hate the blues and the blues man inside of me but it is what it is and all we can do is keep the faith and press on. Thanks to all you fans and your support, keep us in your prayers please. I'm in NC now with family - came to go fishing and haven't even hit the water yet, TCB all the time it seems. I'm starting a small acoustic show tour to set up the new "Keep you Guessing" record. I'll be doing live performances and radio, regionally, and to get the band ready. My keyboard player is in the Orient and we are all in different spots now including me and my mind; still working on artwork and trying to get in on the shelves. We did land an old Copperhead song I wrote a few years back called, "Get Out Of My Way," with NASCAR, an appropriate title I guess and always good to get mailbox money. Thanks for all the support and record sales, God bless all you fans, Neil Carswell

Back home safe from Switzerland on the 6th of Feb. I will be posting a few pics of the slopes and of Wes and I skiing, in my newsletter this month (if you haven't already done so, you can sign up for the newsletter on my website). We skied at three resorts, the Jungfrau region on two mountains the Jungfrabuhan, The Slitzerhorn and then by train 10 hours to St. Moretz, where we skied the two mountains Cravatch and Corvella. Had a horse meat steak platter and then went by train, The Glacier Express, on to Zermatt at the Matterhorn, skiing out three days on the Swiss side under the Matterhorn and into Cervania Italy. What great long distance runs they were - some of which were 50 miles from top of glaciers to the valley below. I 'm now finishing up the credits on the record, thank you credits, etc. working on artwork also, but the record is done, mastered and done!!! We will officially sign the deal at the end of the month and start warm up to radio while PR starts and records get replicated. This record is a 15 song record and has been a work of four years, with an array of great musicians and family. I will never write a record like this again or work on one this long, so you better get a copy ASAP. Too much work in task that has been, a record dear to everyone's heart involved in it. The title, instead of South Wind, will be "Keep You Guessing," the epic song of the record. I will feature a free download of the song in this month's newsletter. Hold tight, the CD will be on the shelves soon. I know we have an overwhelming response asking when, but for real here it comes end of next month. Thanks for all the support. Neil

Just wanted to catch all of you up on the project and where we are at. This month on the 15th and 16th we will record the last 2 songs to be added to the album at The Sound Emporium in Nashville TN We will have Stu Kimball on guitar and co producing along with Chris Anderson, Johnny Neel on keys, Wes Powers on drums, Randy Threet on bass, and Donnie Herron on steel, banjo, mandolin, etc. Donnie and Stu are currently with Bob Dylan on the road, and Chris and Randy were with the Outlaws until the untimely death of Hughie. Johnny has worked with an array of players from the Allman Bros. to the list that never ends. I have worked with all these guys for the last few years and have made some great records to date. Engineering will be done by Mike Poole, a Nashville guy and Ben Fowler on mixing, who I have worked on and off with the last few years. We will master on the 22nd with Richard Dodd, an Englishman with a major list of clients from Tom Petty to George Harrison, Ringo Starr, Joe Cocker, Roy Orbison, Dixie Chicks, just to name a few with 5 Grammys under his belt to say the least. We are all really excited to have him on board to put the final touches on the record. Wes and I will leave on the next day to Switzerland to ski for 14 days on the old reunion trip and what a better time to celebrate the finishing of a 4 year long project. After we get back we will finish up the last 2 songs on final mixes and touch up mastering and get ready to manufacture. We have also completed the contract negotiations with Asperion Records/CEO/George Collier, so he is just waiting on the finished project. I hope this fills you in a bit on music, instead of most months' tragic news I seem to post. Thanks for all the fan mail and album sales. God Bless, Neil Carswell
