Kari & Rachel Fest 3.0

It's that time of year again... KRF 3.0! It is the 3rd year celebrating Kari & Rachel Fest, it's also the big 3-0 for both of us. I know, I know, we don't look a day over 22...

At this point, some plans are tbd, but the schedule of events at this point is as follows:

So... I have finally decided it is time to leave the cute little studio. It has served me well, but I think I am ready for bigger and better things. Or at least a bigger and better apartment.

I officially move out October 20, but am slowly but surely moving things out. Luckily my new neighbors are teachers I work with and are taking things from me at school to move into the garage at the new place so I have less to do next week. They also have a truck, so will be helping me move the fun stuff, like my couch and desk. They rock. I think generally speaking it would have been easier to move when I wasn't planning daily lessons for my darling children, but such is life.

Franka will also enjoy the move, since she will get to live outside on a nice sunny deck with fresh air. Lucky girl.

I think it is probably now time for me to lesson plan, grade papers and/or pack some more. What I really want to do is get some cake. Hmmm... perhaps I will. Cake......mmmmmmmmm..................

The Turtle

breaks from the blue-black 
skin of the water, dragging her shell 
with its mossy scutes 
across the shallows and through the rushes 
and over the mudflats, to the uprise, 
to the yellow sand, 
to dig with her ungainly feet 
a nest, and hunker there spewing 
her white eggs down 
into the darkness, and you think 
of her patience, her fortitude, 
her determination to complete

luminous under the sand that has packed against her skin,

she is a part of the pond she lives in, 
the tall trees are her children, 
the birds that swim above her 
are tied to her by an unbreakable string.
