So the breaking news is that the couple in New Jersey who named their 3 kids with Nazi themes (including one named Adolf Hitler Campbell) have had their children taken away from them by "the authorities".

The state Division of Youth and Family Services did not tell the police why the children were being taken.  Am I the only one who thinks it odd that the police are obeying instructions of this nature without knowing why they are performing such acts as breaking up a home?

No, I'm not defending the poor judgement of the parents nor their apparent belief system.  However, if religious nuts can openly call homosexuals abominations and if the Phelps family (calling themselves a church) can picket military funerals based on their anti-gay agenda, then the Campbells have every right to name their children whatever they want.

Besides, legally changing one's name is easy.  And, as evidenced by the religious right, parents have the right to indoctrinate their children into whatever wacky belief system they want.

I'm sure it's in the Constitution somewhere.

Palin just won't go away.  Luckily for the majority of Americans, this is probably for the best.  Why?  Because the longer she stays in the spotlight, displaying all the incompetence, ignorance, and childishness which embodies the conservative movement, the more America will turn to the Middle and the Left for leadership.

She's now making claims (to a conservative talkshow host and film maker, no less) that the media's reporting on her family is "very scary" and a "class issue".

In response to her horrid performance during the Katie Couric interview in which she made ludicrous and often incoherent responses to valid questions, Palin says, "Katie, you're not the center of everyone's universe."  What does Katie have to do with the fact that Palin claims her international experience comes from her ability to see the Russian coast from Alaska??  Or that she thinks Putin's flight route to NY involves flying over Alaska (which it doesn't) and that even IF it did, that this somehow qualifies her as a potential federal level representative??  Of course, Katie Couric's ego (or absence thereof) has absolutely nothing to do with Palin's mediocrity.  Palin is simply expressing more of her childish whining months after the Couric interview and far from the woman herself.  Typical cowardly conservative action, though, to attack Couric for her own shortcomings months after the event and without Couric being present.

Palin also whines, "When did we start accepting as hard news sources bloggers, anonymous bloggers especially? It's a sad state of affairs in the world of the media today, mainstream media especially, that they're going to rely on bloggers, anonymous bloggers, for their hard news information."  I hope she is including those anonymous conservative bloggers who spent the entire campaign fabricating all sorts of lies about Obama and the fact that Fox News repeated these lies AS news.

Apparently there is some sort of flap over whether Palin is the biological mother of her infant son.  I say who cares?  But apparently this is something certain people care about.  It was suggested by a well known blogger (not an anonymous blogger) that Palin provide proof that she is the baby's mother.  I think this is ludicrous, but since conservatives are STILL calling for Obama to personally pass around his birth certificate to every American in the country so that we can all personally decide whether he was born in the states or not, I see no reason why Palin shouldn't provide proof of parenthood to those who want to verify it.

Tina Fey's impersonation of Palin also came up in this mock interview with a conservative hack who plans to release a DVD "documentary" about the Media electing Obama.  If you'll remember, Palin made no disparaging comments about the Fey impersonation and even appeared on Saturday Night Live.  Now, however, she's singing a different tune.  When shown a clip of Fey as Palin in which Fey says, "I believe marriage is meant to be a sacred institution between two unwilling teenagers."  Palin's reaction is "Cool, fine, come attack me, but when you make a suggestion like that that attacks a kid, that kills me."  Fey wasn't attacking a "kid", she was mocking Palin's (and conservatism's) skewed views on marriage.

Palin goes on to cry about Caroline Kennedy's "special treatment" by the media, claiming that she hopes to PROVE that Palin is the victim of a "class issue".  Well, it IS true that Palin has no class as evidenced by her actions, but I digress.  Palin also contends that IF she had been Obama's running mate, then the Media would've represented her and her family differently.  In this, she is echoing Bill O etal in their comparison with Obama (when they claimed that IF Obama had an unwed teen daughter, she'd be off limits to the media).

This brings us to Palin's current and ongoing rant that she is a victim of a double standard and that the media's acceptance of "gossip and lies" about her may be rooted in sexism.

In short, Palin still doesn't see that she is unqualified for even the elected position she currently holds AND blames anyone and anything for her own inadequacies.

Her conservative interviewer sums up that he thinks the mocking of Palin is a "travesty".  This conclusion is apparently based on a gut feeling since the entirety of Palin's presence and actions reveal mockery of her to be the most fitting tribute a thinking society COULD possibly give her.

The final paragraph of the article I read is the most telling argument that Palin need not hold an elected office anywhere on the planet.  When shown a photo of Keith Olbermann, Palin "literally let out a shriek and, pointing to his photograph, declared, 'THAT guy is EVIL!' "

THAT says it all.

Mississippi has the highest teen pregnancy rate in America--a whopping 60% higher than the national average.

Mississippi is followed next by Texas, Arkansas, and New Mexico.

The "media" are quick to point out that these states have high numbers of blacks and hispanics, claiming that these two segments of society tend to have high teen pregnancy rates anyway.

Of course, experts in the field of study are blaming the increased funding on abstinence-only "education" which has taken precedence during the Bush years.  Conservative groups are blaming the modern sex education practice which includes contraception instruction.

Let's see, teen pregnancies were on the decline after the introduction of contraceptive information.  Then Bush and the mentally disabled conservative movement forced federal funding of abstinence-only programs.  Now as teen pregnancy begins to skyrocket, the conservatives are blaming the "liberal" sex education programs we were using when teen pregnancy began declining.  They want us to ignore the correlation between the change to abstinence-only sex ed and sudden increase in teen pregnancies.

Once again conservatives are telling the world that 2+2=5 and we're supposed to believe it because they say so.

Meanwhile, teen pregnancies in New England continue to remain under half the national average.  Hmm, New England, home of liberals.  New England where much of America's progressive ideas originate.  New England, known for its affinity for tradition tempered with common sense and respect for new discoveries.

Rather than follow New England's lead, conservatives keep telling us that 2+2=5 and telling teens NOT to have sex is the effective way to stop the spread of STDs and to prevent unwanted pregnancies.

A 74 year old German billionaire committed suicide recently because his "empire" was facing financial trouble.

Sorry, but he gets no sympathy from me.  There are people living on the streets--and they go on living.  There are crack-addicted children of crack-addicted prostitutes, but they go on living.  There are good people everywhere around the world who are having hard luck, but they go on living.

The idea that a 74 year old man who was nowhere near to becoming a starving, drug-addicted, alcoholic homeless beggar (or even a middle class peon) could be so disconnected from reality as to take his own life simply over "financial troubles" is extremely vulgar, if not down right inhuman.

Good riddance to one of the world's many money-hungry fools.

I reserve my human compassion for those in need, not for those who endure the misery of wealth.

I overheard two coworkers talking the other day.  They were chatting about things they do outside of work.  When one shared a story about drinking alcohol, the other mentioned that she "didn't drink".  When he asked her why, she said, "because I'm a Christian."

The thing is, that isn't an accurate answer.  Plenty of Christians drink alcohol.  In fact, it isn't a sin to drink alcohol.  The Christian Bible doesn't forbid alcohol consumption, but simply warns against drunkeness.  Then, of course, there is the question of what is "drunkeness"?

Noah was drunk and his "nakedness" was uncovered and (gasp) seen by a male relative of his.  For this guilty shame, the relative was outcast (or possibly cursed or killed, I don't remember which).  The question I've always had about that story is what was the big deal?  Men have been bathing and showering together for centuries and nobody's been punished for it.  I really don't see the significance of the drunken Noah story, other than to warn people against being drunk--which apparently carries the consequences of being seen starkers by relatives.  Must be another made up story for instilling guilt in Christianity's followers.  Or maybe King James' "yes men", who so disfigured the scriptures during their butt-kissing days with King James, just left out the real details and made the story about incestuous voyeurism and drinking.

Of course, we have the story of Lot to deal with as well.  After God sent 2 angels into Sodom & Gomorrah to save Lot and his family (Lot being so godly that he actually offered his virgin daughters to the masses in order to protect the angels), Lot and his 2 daughters hid in the mountains, afraid to enter any city for fear of another Godly fit of anger.  Well, not to be thwarted, the girls decide they must have children even IF they'll never have husbands, so they get their DADDY drunk, rut with him, and bear him children.  (at this point we can pause to sing a few bars of "I'm My Own Grandpa" accompanied by banjos, naturally.)  What does this story tell us?  That angels' well-being is more important than family?  That the handful of sinners God saved from the destruction of S & G were somehow better than the thousands of sinners he murdered?  No.  The story tells us of the dangers of drunkeness.  Hmmm, weird, I know, but there were no consequences for the daughters' incestuous activities.  In fact, the Bible says their offspring actually founded a couple civilizations and names the areas/cities.  Hmm, so I guess there was NO problem with what they did afterall.  But darn it, alcohol is still bad, 'cause it kept Lot from enjoying screwing his daughters.

Then there is the water Christ turned into wine at a wedding.  Biblical scholars have tried to convince us that it was grape juice rather than real wine.  But, the story goes that the wedding planner hadn't provided enough wine so ever-virgin Mary asks Christ to make some more wine via the God-sanctioned hocus pocus known as a "miracle".  Christ does it, and the guests notice.  Why did they notice a difference in the wine?  Because, at these weddings, they always started with the good stuff and eventually served the not-so-good stuff (ya know, the cheap stuff).  Anyway, the somewhat inebriated guests, after drinking the cheap stuff and then getting a taste of Christ's magic wine, ask why the host kept the good stuff till last!!  Think for a minute here, what would happen if you gave a half drunk person a glass of really good grape juice?  They'd spit it out.  But give 'em some really good WINE, and they smack their lips and say, "why'd you give me the cheap stuff when you had the good stuff sitting in the kitchen the whole time?  It doesn't take a brain surgeon to realize that the wine Christ conjured was real, honest-to-goodness, alcohol laden WINE!  Even ignoring the fact that Christ and his eternally virginal mother were attending a wedding at which the guests were drunk, we STILL have the alleged savior of mankind providing alcoholic beverages to people.

And still we have this girl who thinks she doesn't drink alcohol because she's a Christian.  She's probably abstinent as well.  Oh praise God, she'll be completely inept and probably scared to death on her wedding night, not to mention completely guilt-ridden the next morning for finally having a Big O.  Maybe she should thank her god that her husband isn't her own daddy whom she had to get drunk in order to make a baby.

I realize we're all freaking out because the out-of-touch rich in America got too greedy, lost big in their not-so-savvy business deals, and took vulgar bonuses and salaries for themselves, and now demand a bailout by the government, but c'mon!  For the 8th time this month, our "news media outlets" have run the same story about us shoppers being unable to save Xmas because we're being "thrifty" with our pennies.

Sorry, but that is just a bunch of cow patties!  I work in a retail store and we had the best season this year--more than doubling last year's Black Friday weekend sales, and steadily selling items ever since.  Not only at my store but also the entire mall and other local stores have had great year-end sales figures.

The "media" is once again showing itself to be the voice of corporate Amerika, fueling the fires of our "dire" economic crisis--just in case anybody is doubting that America would survive the collapse of her banks (again) or the collapse of the ever needful auto industry!

Quite frankly, let'em go bankrupt.  Its past time we Americans stopped hanging onto big business' shirt tails hoping they will continue to keep us in the lifestyle to which we've become accustomed, and actually worked for a living at something more productive than building the latest model of auto somebody dreamed up.

At my store, they've already laid-off half a dozen workers and are cutting hours--but the amount of work remains the same.  Why?  Is the company losing money?  Yes!  Wanna know why?  Because the upper, upper management are still squandering cash like there is no tomorrow.  For instance, a big wig was supposed to visit the area and stop by the northwest's stores, but after it snowed, he canceled his trip--why?  Because he doesn't like the cold.  Wow!  I don't like the cold either, but I damn well go to work!  But even worse is the news that EVERYWHERE this guy goes, he uses a chartered private jet and rents the most expensive cars to be driven in.  And yet we have to lay off workers because the company can't afford the hours--yeah, right!  I think ALL American businesses should fail and let us who're on the bottom rebuild.

Have you seen the video yet?  Bush finally made a visit to Iraq.  They're calling it his final visit as president (like he's gonna do any ambassador work after leaving office, yeah right!).  What is this?  Like his second actual visit (barring photo ops with the troops at their Thanksgiving dinners even though he skipped the last two)??

Anyway, he made a surprise visit (because he hasn't done anything according to a schedule for 7 years because he and Cheney are scared to death of being assasinated) to Iraq for the signing of an agreement which he's suddenly prioritized in an attempt to get SOMEthing right during his presidency (and probably to stop Obama from being credited with it).  At the "press conference" which looked as though it was being held in an unfinished workroom, an Iraqi journalist suddenly stood up and threw his shoes at Bush (rather accurate aim, I might add).  Each shoe narrowly missed a quickly ducking Bush.  (one thing I gotta admit, Bush the Coward sure can duck behind a podium quickly)

While not a single ounce of pity from me goes out to Bush, the Iraqi journalist who had the passion to do what most Americans these days and for the past 7 years would've liked to do (only we Americans would've shoved our boots up Bush's backside with the world-shaking kick in the pants he deserves) has all my sympathy for whatever hellish punishment this poor man ends up getting for having the audacity to stand against the warmongering cowardice of George W Bush.

Apparently the journalist shouted, "this is a goodbye kiss, you dog," as he hurled the shoes.  I'm sure that dogs everywhere will not take umbrage since the words were spoken during a fit of passionate protest against the inhumanity of George W Bush, arguably one of the top 5 worst world leaders in the history of Mankind.

Dumbest headline on MSNBC in months:  Iraq war longer, costlier than expected.

In a speech given by dumbya on Friday, 12/5/08, Bush babbled on about how the "world" could not let Saddam's power continue unchecked.

Yeah, let that sink in for a moment.  What power?  Saddam was under, and adhering to, U.N. sanctions when dumbya decided to invade Iraq.  Saddam's "power" was already in check.  I don't suggest for one minute that Saddam was becoming a benevolent leader because I believe he would never have been one.  But, I do believe the Iraqi people were better off with a U.N.-shackled Saddam rather than the mock government and terrorist laden nation they have now.

Well, at least the pregnant woman didn't lose her baby.  That is about all the good news we're gonna get out of the Walmart stampede story.  She was 8 months pregnant, by the way.  So much for consideration for a heavily pregnant woman in America these days--just shove her outta the way, or better yet, knock her down.

The Walmart "employee" was actually a temporary employee from an agency who was there to "do maintenance".  No word yet why HE was the one opening the doors.  My guess is that the regular employees were afraid to do it.

Meanwhile, his death is not in vain.  Apparently some of the treasures in this particular Walmart were such necessary items as a 50-inch plasma TV ($798) and a Hulk DVD ($9).  Yeah, THAT was worth the loss of a human life.

Walmart's official statement is drivel.  They acknowledge that this was a sad incident and their prayers go out to those affected by the tragedy.

Hey, you rich Walmart bastards, time to fork over some cash to "those affected by the tragedy".  Considering ol' Sam's relatives have a permanent place in the annual "richest people alive" list, they can afford to pay millions to the dead man's family, as well as the college education of the pregnant woman's soon-to-be-born baby.
