Heh heh... I love Google Alerts.  Look what just came online:

http://www.amazon.ca/Angelical-Language-Complete-History-Mythos/dp/0738714909

It says "No Image Available" - but I've seen the book cover(s).  They are scholarly, Biblical, tasteful and- frankly- slightly remind one of looking at the cover of "A True and Faithful Relation..."  I'm not allowed to show you the artwork yet - they may still make changes to it, and do not want a possibly outdated image to entrench itself into the Net.  :)  So until we get the final version, I just want to offer my supreme Kudos to the Llewellyn art department on this one.  This new hardcover artwork is a serious departure from what you might be expecting from Llewellyn.  :):)

Oh yeah, and here is the in-progress web site I'm setting up for the book.  Same format I used for "Secrets of the... Grimoires"  ;)

Greetings, faithful followers!

And considering how rarely I have posted to this blog recently, you are indeed faithful!  :)  Well, after hearing NOTHING from me for so long, I am pleased to share two bits of great news with you!

1)  The contract has been signed for my upcoming work on "The Angelical Language" and all publishing hurtles have been cleared!  The books (there are two volumes) are slated to appear in stores next Spring!  So keep your fingers crossed!  it's less than a year away!

2) I also have a brand new essay coming out in Avalonia's latest publication "Both Sides of Heaven".  It is called "The Enochians", and is an exploration of exactly who the Enochian Angels of Dr. John Dee really were, not to mention some discussion of what the term "Enochian" actually means.  ;)  See below for the press release:

BOTH Sides of HEAVEN !!

Avalonia Books is proud to announce that BOTH SIDES OF HEAVEN will be released as our “coming of age” title on the 25th of June.   This book is the 21st title to join our growing catalogue.

BOTH SIDES OF HEAVEN
Edited by Sorita d’Este

Look up towards the heavens and open your mind to the infinite, for it is there that you will see the colourful multifaceted world of winged messengers - Gods, Angels, Fallen Angels and Demons.

BOTH SIDES OF HEAVEN is a collection of 18 essays by some of the foremost modern esoteric writers, occult scholars and magicians. In their personal contributions they share their experiences, research and unique insights into the spiritual realms of the mysterious beings who have played such an important and inspirational role in human spiritual history.

From the nature of the daimons of the Graeco-Roman world, the Zoroastrian Ahuras and Daevas, the seductive Lilith and mighty Lucifer, through to the Fallen Angels of the Bible and the Book of Enoch, and their children the Nephilim, we find that these powerful beings are harbingers of change.

In this anthology their magical natures are explored through the works of Renaissance magicians such as Dr John Dee and Edward Kelley, Dr Thomas Rudd and more recently Madeline Montalban, as well as in that of the experiences of the contributors themselves. The ceremonies and conjurations of grimoires such as the Key of Solomon, Goetia and Grimorium Verum are considered, as well as adaptations thereof and simpler, personal encounters.

When you look at Both Sides of Heaven seeking wisdom and knowledge from the wings of ethereal messengers, you will see legions of angels and demons, archangels, fallen angels, old gods and even a few faeries and green butterflies. And maybe, they will be looking back at you too.

Wow!  It's only 9am, and I already have more birthday wishes here than I can ever hope to respond to!  lol  So let me go ahead and say 'Thanks!' right here to all of you wonderful well-wishing friends out there, for having me in your thoughts on this day.  :)

I don't know how happy I should be that I'm moving into my mid-thirties!  lol  But these days one can be happy to have simply made it another year.  Now I wonder what will happen THIS year??

For those of you keeping score, the Angelical Language project chugs onward.  I'm working on the final revisions now, and have until this November to submit the final result.  :)  From there it's on to production!

Thanks again to everyone!  I'll try to stop by a bit more often....  lol

Greetings, faithful bloggers!

I know it's been a long time - due to various circumstances, I took a vacation from writing for most of the past year.  Never fear! - work was still being done.  I had some essays in progress that had to be tweaked and published, permissions for the new book (The Angelical Language) were sent out, etc.  (I even had a public appearance that I failed to mention here!)  You just didn't see me here on the blogs, and I didn't start any brand new projects.  ;)

The good news is that I DO have some new stuff to share with you here in the new year.  :)  Remember those Dee essays I promised so long ago? - I've got two of them ready for you!  Plus I have another Solomonic essay that I don't believe I've posted here yet.  I've even got a new essay on the Qabalah!  So, without further delay!:

The two essays about Dee have been published by an incredible magazine called "Hermetic Virtues Magazine" (http://www.hermeticvirtues.org/)  This high-end publication sports contributions from folks like Chic Cicero, Nick Farrell and yours truly!  ;)  I highly recommend you go check out their site and subscribe to the magazine!  :):):)

Here are links to my two essays about John Dee's angelic magick (more to follow!):

-Pronouncing Dee's Angelical
(Based upon my study of Dee's records, I have created this essay explaining how to pronounce the Angelical words. I explain the methods Dee used to record his own phonetic notations, and then I provide an entirely new phonetic key intended for modern students. All of the rules for Angelical pronunciation are explained, and the essay ends with excerpts from An Angelical Psalter- showing the first two Angelical Callings/Keys written in English, Angelical and my new phonetic key.)

-The Angelical Alphabet
(Updated Version! Originally written for Tree of Lights Magazine, but the magazine never came to be. It was then published online in Paradigm Shift Magazine, but the online version suffered formatting errors. Now, the essay has been completely updated, corrected and vastly expanded. It explains the importance of the Angelical Language and how to use the Angelical Characters with Agrippa's occult philosophy.)

My Solomonic essay, in case you haven't seen it yet, was published by both Hermetic Virtues Magazine and an awesome Pagan publication called "PaganPages.org" (http://paganpages.org/).  Highly recommended!  You can read my essay here:

-Grimoire Shamanism
(A major premise of my Secrets of the Magickal Grimoires is that the Solomonic texts draw much from tribal shamanic practices and worldview. This essay focuses upon that premise, and provides a great introduction to the book. It also includes two anecdotes about modern Solomonic shamans at work.)

And, finally, my latest contribution to the Western Hermetic Qabalah was published by another incredible scholarly magazine called the "Journal of the Western Mystery Tradition" (www.jwmt.org)  Check them out!  You can read my essay here:

-The Decad of Creation: Sacred Geometry upon the Tree of Life
This essay is an example of Ma'aseh Berishith - a meditation upon the Work of Creation outlined in the Book of Genesis. Drawing from Pythagorean philosophy and the Sepher Yetzirah, I discuss the Sacred Geometry of the Tree of Life and its relationship to the ten instances of "God said..." in the first chapter of Genesis.

That should get our new year started off great!  :)  I'm still waiting on those permissions for the book, so I'll keep you updated!   :):)

And Happy New Year!!
