HessenHuis gathers book shops, magazines and publishers of all kinds of contemporary arts in one space.

Art books and magazines are reinventing the boundaries of printing every day. They are one big experimental field of formats, sizes, ink and paper where new initiatives are being established and known publishing houses stand their grounds. Yet it's an endangered species, as goes for everything that defies the laws of commercialism. The world of art books and magazines is one for initiates, salespoints are hard to find.

So to help out interested visitors and have some fun ourselves, we're gathering a whole bunch of publishers, magazines and book shops for one day at the HessenHuis in Antwerp, Belgium. The very best of contemporary printing will be present and for this occassion the selection of books and magazines will be coordinated to connect to the concept of our running exhibition VIRUS (more info on
www.hessenhuis.org). Hessenhuis also tries to engage itself in connecting reflection with action: there will a.o. be artists and authors signing at their booths.

"Hit the Books" – the publication event where fine arts meet experimental fanzines and graphic design, typography, illustration, graphic novels, poetry and silkscreen printing are facing conceptual art, video and installation art, architecture, fashion and literature. All disciplines are welcome!
