Here is a perfect example of someone who just does not know where to start. He's got some great ideas, but also a ton of excuses. Take a look and let me know what you think.

affiliategirl: anyway - wanna see my new blogsite?

reluctantgenious: sure

affiliategirl: www.FreeAffiliateResources.com

affiliategirl: it's a mirror site for the myspace site - one that i can put keywords into & market better.

affiliategirl: my brain is fried from getting it done. bit of a learning curve.

reluctantgenious: so you get higher search engine placement?

reluctantgenious: or targeted trafffic?

affiliategirl: in theory. once the site is just right i'm going to pay for some keyword terms

reluctantgenious: whats the point of the keywords?

reluctantgenious: on google?

affiliategirl: search engine placement. w/out them people can't search for "free affiliate resources"

reluctantgenious: why not just build your own site

affiliategirl: google, yes.

reluctantgenious: or sites

reluctantgenious: if you're going to rely on keyword searches

affiliategirl: well, i have my own sites that i will be placing affiliate ads onto (see bottom right of website www.FreeAffiliateResources.com)

reluctantgenious: so you just want as many sites as possible to show up in one search?

affiliategirl: so the blogs are to show people what i'm doing, what is working, and what does not work.

affiliategirl: no - each one will get traffic from different search terms.

affiliategirl: diversify.

reluctantgenious: okay

reluctantgenious: did you build that template?

reluctantgenious: no

reluctantgenious: its blogger

reluctantgenious: didn't see that

affiliategirl: no - i got it from a "blogger template site" - and then applied my own css & background to it.

reluctantgenious: how many blogs can you have on blogger?

affiliategirl: as many as you want. i searched for (researched) for the URL most of yesterday - purchased it, and then applied it to a blogger site. free hosting & the ability to advertise.

affiliategirl: i actually had a huge list of "affiliate" advertising/type sites - picked the best one & went with it.

reluctantgenious: freeaffiliatesources.com?

reluctantgenious: so you'll use that on a number of sites?

reluctantgenious: or different URLs?

affiliategirl: no - just the one - but i'll put the "blog" portion on another page & make it a more diversified site.

reluctantgenious: won't that start getting expensive

affiliategirl: the real "money makers" are going to be www.tgshopping.com & www.corsetinformation.com & www.fetishcorset.com

reluctantgenious: buying all those domains

reluctantgenious: renewing them

affiliategirl: i'm just going to document how i am making money with those sites on the affiliate site. talk about what's working & what is not.

affiliategirl: i already own the domains - renewals are $5.99 per year - it's not bad.

affiliategirl: i'm putting advertising on all of the sites - which will draw traffic & i will make more $$ when people go there & especially when they buy things.

reluctantgenious: i mean if you were going to set up a lot of sites with different urls

reluctantgenious: and keyword terms

reluctantgenious: you could actually use the same url on different sites if it was a subdomain

affiliategirl: yes - you could. easily.

reluctantgenious: like blogger makes it

affiliategirl: i'm going to do that with www.tgshopping.com

reluctantgenious: www.blogger etc.

affiliategirl: yes - exactly.

reluctantgenious: each url would be different

reluctantgenious: with the parent domain

affiliategirl: yes.

reluctantgenious: some of the visitors would figure out it's the same person

reluctantgenious: but that probably doesn't matter

affiliategirl: doesn't matter if the information is all good.

reluctantgenious: gives you a good brandname

affiliategirl: yep yep!!!

reluctantgenious: seems like you need a product to make money on the net

reluctantgenious: it's tough to sell with just traffic and some banners

reluctantgenious: not easy to get traffic for one thing

reluctantgenious: need to sell what the site is is centered around

reluctantgenious: thats where i went wrong

affiliategirl: yes - an ebook or reselling a product is a great idea.

reluctantgenious: i would like to do a showbiz site

reluctantgenious: but what the hell would i market on it?

affiliategirl: dunno - make up a few ideas - type them up - & i'll tell you what to do with them if you want.

reluctantgenious: i could do movie retals like blockbuster.com

reluctantgenious: maybe

affiliategirl: you could do an affiliate site specifically on "the best movies to rent"

reluctantgenious: but that doesn't pay much

reluctantgenious: i could do a movie review site

reluctantgenious: even though there are a ton of them

reluctantgenious: but again

affiliategirl: it could. or you could do a site with subdomains. something like "www.bestchoicesonline.com" and then have "www.movierentals.bestchoicesonline.com" etc etc etc!

reluctantgenious: what to market?

reluctantgenious: how does it make money?

affiliategirl: www.bestoldmovies.bestchoicesonline.com

affiliategirl: you have to keep up the content - write reviews - and put relevant affiliate advertising on the sites.

reluctantgenious: what affiliate advertising?

reluctantgenious: movie rentals is all i can think of

affiliategirl: www.tgshopping.com

affiliategirl: all of the pages have affiliate ads on them. the whole site is built of affiliate ads from www.cj.com & www.linkshare.com

reluctantgenious: oh i know

reluctantgenious: i just can't think of too many that would appeal to the demo i'd be targeting

affiliategirl: then pick a smaller/narrower demographic

reluctantgenious: i could see traffic materializing

reluctantgenious: but not affiliate sales

affiliategirl: how about movies for men --- or movies for couples --- or movies for single men .... or???

reluctantgenious: i'd like to do something like smoking gun

reluctantgenious: i did this at christmas

reluctantgenious: www.armchairshoppers.com

affiliategirl: you built that site?

reluctantgenious: yes

affiliategirl: lol - then you already know what you are doing. why not make that site a regular shopping site and not geared toward xmas?

reluctantgenious: i could

reluctantgenious: no seed money for ads though

affiliategirl: change it for mothers day - then for fathers day - then for birthdays - etc

reluctantgenious: thats not too bad an idea

reluctantgenious: but i still have to buy ads

reluctantgenious: otherwise no traffic

affiliategirl: just submit to the search engines - all of them - and i have other free traffic ideas. i'll let you in on some of them

affiliategirl: buy ads for what?

reluctantgenious: the site

reluctantgenious: to get people there

reluctantgenious: i did google at christmas

affiliategirl: there are ways to get free traffic.

reluctantgenious: but my bid wasn't high enough

reluctantgenious: and i was too late

affiliategirl: you update the site for Mothers & Fathers Day & then i'll tell you how to get some free traffic.

reluctantgenious: okay

affiliategirl: i'm going to use your site as a "sample" on my blog -k? that might get you some traffic, too.

reluctantgenious: cool

reluctantgenious: thanks

affiliategirl: you can update it and try some things while i document them.

affiliategirl: that's a great website name, btw!

reluctantgenious: it took me awhile to think of something not taken

Tomorrow I'll tell you what I told him regarding free traffic! Stay tuned!

This is the program I am currently signed up for and reading, following and will be reviewing. So far they have some great information for "where to start" - and it's categorized according to where you currently are in your Affiliate Marketing efforts (ie. beginner, intermediate, advanced). Definately worth checking out, and only open for new enrollment for a few more days.

So, here we are - a couple of marketing girls who are willing and able to share out successes (and occasional blunders) in the Affiliate Marketing world. My partner-in-affiliation, Lara, can be found here - and between the two of us you should be able to find out just about anything and everything you wanted (ie. NEED) to know about getting your own affiliate marketing strategies up & running - Successfully.

We both own fully functioning affiliate advertising websites - as well as a couple of online-sales sites. While our efforts have proven to be fruitful thus far - soon you will get the chance to build some new sites along with us.

Jump on the Affiliate Girls' bandwagon - and let's all head for success!
