So.....there's been a lotta shit going down on MySpace lately. Fake profiles, nude pics, free webcams, free gift certificates, mmmm...what else? Well, to be honest, I haven't experienced much of it, but from reading my bulletins, some others are getting hit a lot worse.
What it comes down to, is some script kiddies are creating fake profiles, and fake myspace-look-alike pages, which make you want to "re-login" to myspace...but in reality, you are really "Logging in" to their fake myspace page, and giving them your myspace e-mail address and password. What's even worse, 90% of MySpace users (lol.....I'm no good at statistics...but it's probably around there...) use the SAME exact password for their AIM, Yahoo!, Hotmail, Ebay, PayPal, etc. accounts.....so once these script kiddies got their myspace passwords and e-mail, they have a gold mine of data to access.
So yea, do yourself, and your friends a favor in the New Year, if you see any "strange" bulletins posted by your friends, most of them come in the form of "Nude pics", "free webcam", free money, and any other number of possibilities...basically, anything to make you want to CLICK that link, and login to a FAKE myspace look-a-like page where the hacker then has your myspace password.
Most of these script kiddies are doing this business for mainly bulletin spam, but really, if they wanted to, they could msg and/or comment your friends, delete your friends, hell, even delete your whole myspace account...
But yea, do yourself, and your friends a favor...keep on the lookout for bullshit bulletins......and well, it probably wouldn't hurt to change your myspace password...most service providers recommend changing passwords every 6 months anyways...
This is a fairly lengthy video, at 18 minutes. At first, the guy is kind of annoying/emo?, but he tells it like it is...this is all about common sense. As long as you only login to myspace from MYSPACE.COM then you have nothing to worry about...
Some stuff to check out:
Password Safe - Allows storing of passwords for you, as well as generating highly secure passwords...passwords sooo secure that you won't/shouldn't even know them by heart (Copy+Paste is key lol).
OpenDNS - DNS stands fro Domain Name Resolution, well, by setting up your computer (or network, if you use a router) to use their DNS server, they will filter out a lot of phishing/scam sites, so you can't get caught by them. They got a good uptime, and I've been using the service for about 3 months now.
