Once again the leaves are yellow (and getting darker). The skies are pale, and the sun is in the hiding. In this poetic season comes out the hundredth release from the fabulous Earth Mantra. An epic 4-cd collection of moods, dreams, emotions, and visions. I have had the pleasure of contributing a composition to this otherworldly miracle of music -- the piece is called Lovers in the Deep and can be found on CD#3.

The release is freely available for downloading via earthmantra.com:

Friends,

For those of you who are interested in what I do besides music, I welcome you to check out my new blog - Music Reviews by Alex Tiuniaev. I'm planning to start with reviewing some of my favorite albums and see how it goes. I don't really want to concentrate on any particualr genre, rather, I want to try a more poetic approach to writing reviews. So please, if you feel like reading, this is the address: http://alextiuniaev.blogspot.com/

More to come,
Alex

I can’t really tell you how much the music of Michael Jackson influenced me. As well as his personality. And all the magic he brought into the world. Today I caught myself thinking: whatever it is I listen to, whatever I love about music today, whatever new directions I’m trying, whether it’s rock, jazz, ambient or whatever, it all comes down to one person: Michael Jackson. If it wasn’t for Black or White and Billie Jean there would be no Queen, no Radiohead, no Sigur Ros, no Brian Eno, no Arvo Part, even no Bach for me. Michael was the one artist that opened the door into the magical world of music for me. I will forever be grateful for that.

Today when I heard of his passing I went straight home and after watching the news I put on We Are the World. And then I cried. I just couldn’t help myself. It seems that my childhood has passed with him, and somehow it feels like a part of my soul is gone, too. And still…a part of Michael Jackson will live in me forever. In all the music that I compose. In all the new music that I have the joy to discover. Music plays an unbelievably important part in my life. And that’s only because of Michael Jackson.

My deepest condolences to Michael’s family, friends, and all his fans around the world. For me personally it feels like I lost a lifelong friend. There will never be a Light as bright and a talent as big as his.

May you rest in peace, Michael, wherever you are now.

We will always remember You. And Your music will live on. Forever.

Do I have an artistic perception of my environment? I don't know. I hope so. Even if I don't I'll still pretend that I do. Knowing things not for what they are but for you want them to be. It's a gift.

What is Music for you? A part of your day? A part of your life? For me it's a sweet and dangerous drink. You have to be careful with it. If you are not, it may break you. Always leave yourself asking for more...

Today I listened to Eno's Another Green World. Again. A world full of wonder. A world full of dark trees. Little fishes. Big ships and golden hours. A world beyond the sound. Images beyond your hearing. What makes it so much more than it is? But then again, does it really matter?

3 new tracks for you... ;)

Hello Friends,

I hope you are all well… just wanted to make a small update here.

I have finally managed to record a new song which I composed a long time ago but somehow felt that the time had not yet come for it to be heard. It’s a simple folky tune called “Fading Away” that I’ve been working on lately. It’s about what it means for me to be alive, or at least, to feel like you’re alive when life itself doesn’t seem to think so. Anyway, I really hope that you will like it because it’s quite different from the usual ambient stuff that I do. And please, if you have time, leave your comments on the new song here, they are very much appreciated.

Also, I wanted to thank Amideson (www.myspace.com/amideson) for making this really amazing video for my piece “I Knew Her”. Please, watch it here:

And finally, for those of you who are still interested in my ambient music, I have some news: a new album of mine entitled “Somewhere in the Open Country” will be available as a digital download from this wonderful UK label Sounds Asleep: www.soundsasleep.co.uk. The preliminary release date is April, 2009.

Stay well!

So, what am I talking about?
This is a brand new AT page, with brand new material and brand new me, he-he :) Four new tracks are available now, the ones I've been working on for the past few weeks. Little sketches of sound with visual, almost tactile ideas behind them...

Hello Guys,

Me and Celeste have finally finished working on her debut record, an amazing collection of 10 soulful songs. Co-producing the record and working on string arrangements and electronic soundscapes (I also played the piano on several tracks!) and finally hearing the final results was an exhilarating experience for me, and one I will never forget. She was kind enough to include my own song, North, on the album. Please, check Celeste's page and listen to the songs: www.myspace.com/celesteterrell

"Celeste Terrell has music that will move you. It's warm, inviting and draws you in. Keep an eye on Terrell because she is a rising star!" that's what Madalyn Sklar from GoGirlsMusic.com said about the new record. And I agree completely!

A very special piece is now available here on my myspace page, a beautiful 3-min ambient track featuring string parts from Celeste's song Angels or Demons and swirling electronics. This piece can also be found on the album itself as a hidden track. Enjoy!

Take care,

Alex
