I recently bought a vintage Fender Bassman head with a matching cabinet and need to let go of my Ampeg SVT Classic head.  It has always been roadcased and taken very good care of.  I'm asking $1000 or best offer.  They cost $1699+tax brand new, so it's a great deal for a great sounding bass head!

Here's a description:

The Ampeg SVT-CL Classic Bass Head brings back in all its glory a classic big stage amp that was the choice of players in the '60s. There's no question that the SVT-CL delivers 300W (to either 2 or 4 ohms). Its tube array includes 2 - 12AX7s in the preamp, 2 - 12AU7s and a 12AX7 for drivers, and six - 6550s for power. Controls include 3 bands of tone, a 5-way mid selector, plus ultralow and high boosts. Other pro features on the Ampeg SVT-CL Bass Head include normal and padded inputs, tube protection circuitry, auto-fault mode, fan cooling, slave output jack, 4/2 ohm selector, user biasing controls, and 3-position AC polarity switch. 24"W x 11-1/2"H x 13"D. 80 lbs.

Ampeg SVT-CL Classic Bass Head Features:

  • 300W tube power
  • Three-band tone/five-way mid selector/low and high boosts
  • Normal and padded inputs
  • Tube protection circuitry
  • Fan cooled
  • Slave output

Unless someone is playing a practical joke on us, our trailer has been stolen. Inside the trailer was an original UK Vox AC30 6TB 2x12 combo, a roadcase for that combo, a ridiculously large drum roadcase, an iPod, clothing, merchandise, many many many CD's, etc. All of this is gone along with the trailer.

If you see a white dual axle 6x12 Pace American trailer without fenders and spray paint on one side that is somewhat removed ... pull the driver out of the vehicle, knock him out, lock him in one of the roadcases (preferably the smaller one), lock up the trailer, and leave him. Then call the police and let them know where they can find him.

If you are reading this and steal things to make a living, PLEASE get a job like the rest of us. I'm sure you are a big boy and can handle it.

Category: Parties and Nightlife
While browsing the web this evening, I stopped by youtube to see if any videos of our band had been posted. Historically, seeing live videos of any band I have been in discomforts me to the point of a light glistening on my skin (awkward sweat). However, I found these videos to be very enjoyable. In fact, I would say we kind of kicked ass. I figured I might as well post them up here in case any of you would like to enjoy them too.

Cold Spell (4.25.08 in Shreveport, Louisiana)

Children Of Divorce (5.6.08 in Anaheim, California)

Forecasting (live in Hollywood, California)

Forecasting (5.28.08 in Phoenix, Arizona after one quick practice haha)

Special thanks to those who came to our shows, videotaped, and photographed.

Sincerely,
Travis

The Indie Review
By Sean Duregger

Artist: Alive in Wild Paint
Album: Ceilings

Alive in Wild Paint's debut, Ceilings, brings together members of Goodbye Tomorrow and short lived Terminal (Other members of Terminal formed Oh, Sleeper), and is a much anticipated debut produced by Mark Trombino (most notably known for producing Jimmy Eat World's masterpiece, Clarity). There has been a lot of anticipation and hype for Ceilings. Does it deliver? Hell yes. But, it will take a little patience on your part.

First of all, I wasn't expecting such a laid back album. Maybe that's an unfair expectation, but because of this expectation, the first listen was a bit rough for me. I was waiting for it to kick in, and by the 7th track (Sleep With Your Soul In) we do get a little dose of rock. But, this is not a rock album. So, drop that from your expectations and let Ceilings sink in. (Although if your familiar with Terminal and Goodbye Tomorrow, this is a natural progression.)

Now that I had my first listen over and done with, I had to immediately listen a second time. Alive in Wild Paint have created an album of such intricacy that, like a good movie, needs to be appreciated over numerous visits. This is not made for fast consumption. Alive in Wild Paint's four members (frontman Travis Bryant, guitarist Matt Grabe, bassist David Roat, and drummer Austin Wilson) have taken the time and care to create numerous layers to each song and to this album. Travis Bryant's vocal are delicate and soothing, nothing is strained or rushed. Each song takes it's time and envelopes the listener in beautiful intricate melodies that, if given the right amount of time, will mold themselves permanently into your skull.

While not an immediately accessible album, Ceilings is an album that you need to take your time with. I'm not sure if today's mainstream culture has the patience for Alive in Wild Paint. We live in such a fast-food society when it comes to our entertainment, that I fear people may not get this album right away. I really hope I'm wrong, because Alive in Wild Paint's debut is a moving and brilliant piece of work.

Stand Out Tracks:

"Ceilings"
"Sleep With Your Soul In"
"Cold Spell"

Alive in Wild Paint's debut has been eagerly anticipated for months now, especially considering that the band wowed fans back when they were called Goodbye Tomorrow. Having put out a three song EP that stood out thanks to its tight melodies and harmonic vocals, the band regrouped and changed their name and are now back with their debut album Ceilings. The result is some of the best down tempo indie rock in quite some time.

The vocals are extremely melodic, as one might expect from former Terminal vocalist Travis Bryant. Bryant's voice is warm and inviting, filled with melody that bridges gaps in between the instrumental arrangements. But at the same time, though his voice is higher pitched it is done in a beautiful rather than whiny way meaning that just about anyone should be able to get into Alive in Wild Paint's music. In addition to this, the lyrics are surprisingly insightful and true to life. Listen to a song such as "Children of Divorce" and it will be easy to see that this is a group with deeper messages than many of their genre mates.

Though sometimes album that stay minimalist and down tempo can become boring, Ceilings doesn't suffer from this problem. Many of its tracks start with just guitar work and slowly build into light indie rock songs. The instrumentalists have a knack for creating compositions that start off with just one or two instruments and climax with layered textures of sound that could rival many groups. If "Carousel" was the group's best work as Goodbye Tomorrow, as Alive in Wild Paint they have produced an album of Carousel's, with just about every track able to stand on its own.

I predicted great things for this band when they released their three song EP back in 2006. And though they've been through a name change and a minor lineup change, this prediction holds true. Ceilings is one of the first great indie rock releases of 2008, and hopefully this band will find the audience they've been waiting for with this exciting debut.

After we witnessed the collapse of Terminal which came all too soon in their short lived career, members sort of went everywhere like debris in a car crash. Three of them ended up in Oh, Sleeper, one ended up god knows where, and then there was singer Travis Bryant. The ever talented Bryant made a soft landing with a band that goes by the name of Goodbye Tomorrow. Then when Goodbye Tomorrow saw their demise, Bryant and three of his fellow bandmates decided to press on under the moniker Alive in Wild Paint, which is an interesting concept in and of itself… what exactly is wild paint? Eh, regardless, you just have to listen to the record. That wasn't a suggestion, that was an urgent request. Listen to the record.

If you fell in love with the honest and beautiful sounds of Goodbye Tomorrow, then you'll love everything about Alive in Wild Paint. In fact, the last track on the album "A Vespertine Haunting" was originally a Goodbye Tomorrow song, but let's put all of the history aside and get down to talking about Ceilings.

The soothing and sometimes lulling sounds of the piano / guitar combo that Alive in Wild Paint uses is exactly what best suits Bryant's pacifying vocals. Alive in Wild Paint reminds me a lot of Elliott, or a more rock version of Coldplay or even a mellower version of Renee Heartfelt. Every harmony and melody builds up into a delicate, yet alluring, song that beckons to you for every bit of your attention. While it may be a very laid back record, it's hard to put down. To attempt to give you highlight tracks, I may end up listing half of the album, so I'll refrain. Instead, I'll tell you this, if you love one of the songs, you'll love them all. While they mix up the style a little bit from song to song, they keep a unified theme throughout the album. These four boys from Arizona have written a spectacular album.

I wouldn't be blind enough to assume that everyone will love this album, but I can safely say that I do. I've always been a little bit of a sucker for albums like this, and I probably always will be. Alive in Wild Paint has a sound that speaks to the sincerity of the music itself, which is too often forgotten in today's music scene.

Ceilings is this Arizona foursome's full length debut album on Equal Vision records. It is amazing in the sense that it is one of those albums you can put on your iPod and fall asleep to or sit relax to. Lead singer Travis Bryant's calm voice and the instrumentation of the songs makes listening to this album a relaxing and sometimes trippy or hypnotic experience. There are many different styles feature on this album, with the fast-paced track "Sleep With Your Soul In" and then "Forecasting," with its piano track and heady vocals. However, having heard both the album version of "A Vespertine Haunting" and the original version, the original is by far the better one: it's haunting and sticks with you long after it is done playing.

Ceilings is an overall fantastic album and I give it a four out of five.

Stop for a minute with me, and imagine that you have been whisked away to some alternate universe. There might not be anything out there that would set this universe apart from our own, but a closer look into this universe's music scene tells everything. Alive In Wild Paint plays poppy tunes and have blown my mind with this release. Imagining the music of this alien world ought to give you an insight into what Alive In Wild Paint's "Ceilings" sounds like.
When the opening notes of "Ceilings" flooded my earphones, I immediately thought that I had Alive In Wild Paint pegged as an act I would soon forget. Repeat listens of this track, however, prove the inaccuracy of this impression, as something is constantly jumping out of the background to differentiate the song from the work of its apparent influences. Whether it be a patient song structure not rushed to win you over or harmonies so tight and clean they sound like production wizardry, these elements make you think twice about jumping to conclusions with your comparisons. This is not to say the road of Alive In Wild Paint diverges from other artists right then and there. The next track, "Crystal Selves" is a driving rock number with haunting details that would make it sound right at home on a John Mayer hit. The first time Travis Bryant's breathy falsetto kicks in, you can't help but think this guy can easily go toe-to-toe with Matt Prior or Thom Yorke. This song is not just ear candy, though, but serves up lyrical wordplay such as "Don't you feel loved, don't you feel so much better now." Shadowy writing and strong musicianship makes this track a turning point, as it proves Alive In Wild Paint are not imposter hacks, but rather that they deserve to sit at the "big kids' table."

"Anxious Disease" is a number that commences with a fuzzy guitar riff that makes way for Bryant's seductive vocals that transition from being isolated to matched in perfect harmony for a lead-in to an sountrack-like chorus. The only problem with this is the fact that the harmonizing sounds almost too perfect. When vocals sound this spot-on, there are only two possibilities – either the band is so tight from playing together so many years they are just that good, or it is studio trickery at its best. The song is very solid, and it's very radio-friendly. From there, we jump right in to "Sleep With Your Soul In" which follows a toe-tapping beat which escorts us into an enormous hook that makes an end result that is extremely catchy, and sounds like it was ripped right from a Watashi Wa album. "Children Of Divorce" is the first number where we see Alive In Wild Paint stepping out of the shadow of their influences, with sweeping beats and brilliant vocals. However, the ball was dropped on the chorus, where what should be a mosh-inducing sonic flurry comes across too safe, and just doesn't rock as hard as you would like. Alive In Wild Paint comes back into favor with the last standout track of "A Vespertine Haunting," which is a heart puller that you can just sit and lay down and fall asleep a great closing track and finish to a fantastic album.

When the disc has spun its final revolution, there is a lot to enjoy from this release. Alive In Wild Paint are proving themselves to be a renaissance in the indie music scene, and Alive In Wild Paint gives an inspired and mature full-length offering. Some songs come across as filler and are not so much bad as forgettable, but the good songs on the album show more than hints of greatness. If Alive In Wild Paint can evolve their sound a bit to cast off the comparisons to other bands, and keep Bryant behind the mic, but have him keep the sound a little more raw, Alive In Wild Paint could put out a work of true brilliance – they really aren't too far off from that now, after all. Definitely worth a look.

Last night, our tour van was stolen out of the Nordstrom parking lot at the Chandler Mall in Phoenix, AZ. Our drummer, Austin, walked out of the mall and it was gone. I headed to the mall to pick him up where we then filed a report with both the police department and our insurance company.

This morning, Austin was awakened by a call from the Chandler police notifying him that they found our van and that we could pick it up at a tow place in Chandler. Of course, the iPod and clothing are gone. We checked out the file to see where it was found ...

The Harkins parking lot at the Chandler Mall in Phoenix, AZ.

They broke in, rigged our ignition with a screw driver, drove it to the other side of the mall, and took our iPod ... ???? What? That seems like a lot of risky work for an iPod.

Perhaps it was because we cannot afford gas and left them with an empty tank? Regardless, we have our van back :)

To the thief, you owe us $10 for the tow truck and $50 for the ignition. Please contact us and we'll tell you who to make the check out to. Keep the iPod as an award for being pathetic.

December 7, 2006 - Mates Studio ( PREPRODUCTION )

I don't have much time to write. We are at the rehearsal studio ( Mates Studio in North Hollywood ) doing preproduction for the album with our producer, Mark Trombino. We have had pretty long days ( 11 AM - 10 PM ) and have a few days left. I thought I'd post some pictures I took quickly with my computer while we were on break. Hopefully, we'll have some more time available to take some pics and make some posts. Next week we will begin tracking the album in Eagle Rock.

One last thing ... we received two parking violations the first three days of being in LA. Not cool.

December 8, 2006 - Mates Studio ( PREPRODUCTION )

While Austin was learning how to play drums, I decided to take some pictures. It is our last day at the rehearsal studio and then we have the weekend off, legit. Here they are ...

I found a sweet really big hoodie.

The effects on my computer stopped working for this picture, so I
wasn't able to use any on Austin, just raw.

December 9, 2006 - Hollywood ( DAY OFF )

Today was our first day off and it was pretty eventful. We woke up and had breakfast at the 101 Cafe (which is the cafe that a scene in Pulp Fiction was filmed at, pretty sweet, but my french toast was lame). After that, we headed to our trailer to grab some merch to send out (if you ordered merch, it's on the way!) and we were welcomed with a surprise, our trailer had been tagged. How fortunate. Oh well, REO Speedwagon was at the rehearsal studio today and their gear was nuts. To cheer ourselves up, we drove straight pass about 25 barricades right up to the stage of The Hollywood Bowl, snuck inside and hung out. Then we went to the mall, which I'm not a fan of. Here are some sweet pics.

December 11, 2006 - Music Friends Studio ( DRUM SETUP )

Today is our first day at the tracking studio, Music Friends in Eagle Rock, CA. There is so much gear that there is only room for a few of us to sit inside. We weren't involved with too much today. It was strictly a setup day... making sure drums sounded good, monitors were in place, doing scratch tracks, and getting all of our producers gear up and running. I'm a gear nut, so I took a bunch of pictures of the studio gear. It's pretty nuts and so packed that I couldn't really get a full room shot. Most of you don't know what this stuff is, but for those of you who do, I thought it deserved a post.

December 14, 2006 - Music Friends Studio ( DRUM TRACKING )

Austin has been tracking drums for the past four days. We will be finishing up drums today and then will have a few days off. We begin tracking bass on Monday. We'll have some more shots of us working soon. For now, I took some pictures of the studio space (backyard, tracking room, studio from the outside, etc.). We are stoked to be tracking the album here, the place is beautiful. Here's what it looks like.

December 21, 2006 - Hollywood ( LATE POST )

In the last blog I made, I mentioned that Austin was finishing up drum tracks and that we were looking forward to a few days off. I haven't been too good lately with updating ... with that said, David is already done with his bass parts and now we've started guitar.  Now we must backtrack. Here are some pictures of our drum sessions with Austin tracking. I'll be sure to make another blog in a day or two on David's progress. Pictures, sweet ...

January 22, 2007 - Music Friends ( VOCAL TRACKING )

I have pretty much failed on continuing the recording blog, I apologize. It has been a long 6-7 weeks now, and we are almost done! We have background vocals and extra guitar layering left. We should be leaving LA this Friday to head back to Phoenix. Some exciting things have happened over the past few weeks though. Here are some short examples of two of them ...

- We all went to a rap show. Yup, imagine every member of Goodbye Tomorrow backstage at the TI, Chingy, Lil Jon, Lil Scrappy, Steve Harvey, E-40, Rick Ross, Le Toya, Lloyd concert. Legit. Send us comments if you're jealous.

- While eating at McDonalds, some lady runs in asking us for a fire extinguisher for her car which is "on fire." No doubt, we look at the window and her Ford Explorer is launching 5 foot flames in the air from her engine.

Now, for some pictures...
