Preventing sexual violence and abuse

What if it was your daughter?
.. ..
What if it were your daughter, your sister, your friend or
mother that was trapped, or had been kidnapped, by guerilla pimps?
.. ..
What if one day your thirteen year old daughter didn’t make
it home from school?
.. ..
What if you were the father who just appeared in the MSNBC
Undercover show, “Sex Slaves in the Suburbs.”
.. ..
His teen daughter was kidnapped by a brutal pimp. With the
help of two female accomplices, he made the girl turn tricks, and even go to a
truck stop.
.. ..
What if you were the executive director of a charitable
organization and it was your job to answer the calls from desperate parents
like the father from ....Toledo....?
.. ..
What if year after year, your hotline took in over five
hundred calls?
.. ..
Trust me. If it were
your daughter, all of a sudden, nothing else would matter. Gone would be the arguments as to whether
prostitution was freedom of choice.
.. ..
What if your daughter was offered a babysitting job by a
pedophile, who made her live in a basement and have nightly sex with him?
.. ..
What if when your daughter was only thirteen she was taken
from her village in Moldova and brought into the United states in a duffle bag,
and from that time on was forced to work day in day out, with no holidays, no
school, no medical care until she found the number of your organization on the
back of a restroom wall?
.. ..
Or what if your daughter, on her thirteenth birthday was
gang raped by her own father and his friends?
.. ..
What if you tried to bring her to safety, but due to a lack
of resources, you lost track of her, and still to this day did not know whether
she lived or died?
.. ..
What if you also were told about missing girls online,
through emails?
.. ..
These are the kinds of decision that I have had to
face.
.. ..
Not only that, what
if you were promised funding over and over by government agencies, only to get
lost in the shuffle?
.. ..
What if you had come up with a solution that would be so
easy to duplicate, that countless lives would be saved?
.. ..
In order to save, and help, and assist the greatest amount
of survivors of sexual violence, we believe now is the time to join together in
the fight. Now is the time that we all,
regardless of political, religious beliefs, stand against violence and sexual
violence
.. ..
.. ..
An accelerated amount of sexual violence survivors will
flood social service agencies, jails, hospitals.
.. ..
At this point, the ....United
States.... government does not recognize that
sexual violence has three aspects. Using
the Department of Justice, Office of Violence against Women as an example,
until congress votes or redefines public policy, only domestic violence and
sexual assault are fundable programs.

Emerging trends in Sexual Violence
.. ..
The internet has created an appetite for children like Kimmi
as sex objects. It’s the holidays. Like
most of us, being a woman, being a mom, there’s so much to do to get
ready. Kimmi came to our hotline as a
survivor of sexual assault. But as I got to know her there was so much more.
Only 23 she has a lifetime of sexual assault stories. Sometimes it’s hard to be the only one
listening to these stories.
.. ..
Kimmi’s Thirteenth
Birthday Present....
.. ..
On Kimmi’s thirteenth
birthday, her father had a special party set up for her. She was gang
raped by her own father and his nine friends. When they were done,
they put a hot stone on her back. The stone burned her back. The scar is still there. Kimmi was told to shower and dress. A
birthday card was slipped under her door.
“Welcome to womanhood.”
I didn’t want to listen.
Didn’t want to believe it. Perhaps that’s why I dropped my cell phone in
water. Sometimes each story is too
much. I told Kimmi that she was a victim
of child sex trafficking.
She was trafficked for the purposes of sexual slavery by her
own father repeatedly, her entire childhood.
When she came to our organization, via our interconnected
websites and toll free hotline, she told me she was a victim of sexual
assault. That was just the latest.
Kimmi’s story is just one of the hundreds if not thousands
that come to via our websites, and toll free hotline. We believe that in order to help survivors of
child sex trafficking like Kimmi, we need to define sexual violence.
