nternational call
Recent months have seen unprecendent levels of repression against
anti-fascists in Ukraine and Russia. Anti-fascists have been both framed
up and punished for defending themselves against Nazis. In Ukraine,
President proclaimed Antifa to be "extremists" and ordered
the law enforcement agencies "to scrutinize political motives" behind
the death of Nazi activist Maksim Chayka, who died in Odessa after an
attempt to attack 5 anti-fascists with his 15 friends. Referring to
Nazis as "patriots", Yuschenko showed his sympathy with them. Soon
Ukrainian secret service SBU, controlled by president, announced that a
pro-Russian party was behind the death of Chayka. Obviously, this
incident is used by various political forces for internal political
struggle. 22nd of April, anti-fascist from Kiev was kidnapped, beaten up
and transferred to Odessa, but eventually released. SBU is also
claiming, that suspected killer of Chayka is hiding in Russia, and has
demanded his extraction to Ukraine. Even if that is the case, it is
unlikely that he will face a fair and unpartial court after
interventions of the president.
Meanwhile Russia, a country hinted by Yuschenko do be behind Antifa in
Ukraine, is also repressing anti-fascists with a vigor. 21st of April,
Moscow anti-fascist Aleksey "Shkobar" Olesinov was given one year
sentence for a fight in a bar in August 2008 which did not even took
place. 8th of May in St. Petersburg, anti-fascist Aleksey Bychin was
sentenced to 5 years in prison, for a fight with two Nazis (of whom
another was a police officer) in June 2008. 14th of May in Kazan,
anti-fascist Artur Valeev was given 4 year prison sentence for
inflicting minor wounds to Nazis who attacked him and his friend in
November 2008. In Izhevsk, police cooperates regularly with Nazis to
fabricate criminal cases against anti-fascists, during year up to 80
anti-fascists have been arrested for different cases and currently there
are at least two serious felony cases with 6 defendants going on. In
Vladivostok, court proceedings are going on against Yura M., who
accidentally killed one of the two Nazis who assaulted him in November
2008. And at last, Artyom Lokutov, anarchist artist from Novosibirsk was
planted drugs 15th of May, in a blatant attack against alternative
culture in the city as a whole.
Most of the provocations and repressions against Antifa in Russia are
organised by CPE, "Center of Counteraction against Extremism", a new
police department founded in New Year to replace old UBOP,
"Administration of Struggle against Organised Crime". Already before the
rebranding, UBOP was notorious for provocations and even murder of
political activists, so change of name was just final confirmation that
authorities are rather fighting political opposition than mafia.
But whatever they say, Antifa is not sponsored by powers of the "West",
or "East", we may only count on grassroot support around the world. In
face of increasing repression, and where a number of victims of fascist
violence is mounting (in Russia only, during first 4 months of 2009 at
least 23 people were killed and 98 wounded in racist attacks),
Anti-fascists are standing firm in front of attacks of both the state
and racist groups. Today, international solidarity for anti-fascists of
Ukraine and Russia is more necessary than ever!
Anti-fascists from Moscow, Kiev and all around the world
What to do?
Make an action, big or small, targeted against Ukrainian and Russian
authorities in your city 24th or 25th of May. If you do not have
embassies or consulates in your city, you may target any Ukrainian or
Russian major business, most proper target being the Gazprom
corporation, which is pretty much the same as the Russian state. List of
Gazprom subsidiaries is available for example here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Gazprom%27s_subsidiaries
If you make an action, please report back to abc-msk AT riseup DOT net!

One year sentence for Aleksei Olesinov - anti-fascists hit streets of Moscow
21st of April Aleksei "Shkobar" Olesinov, anti-fascist arrested 5th of November with bogus charges of having incited a fight in a club in August 2008, was slapped one year prison sentence in a kangaroo court. This although defense presented a video which proved that Olesinov attacked nobody, although both club owners and security whom Olesinov allegedly assaulted denied that they had any claims against Olesinov, they even did not appeared in the court. Moreover, police who grabbed people randomly that night in August had already fined Olesinov for a misdemeanor he did not committed, thus this was already the second sentence for the same "crime" Olesinov, who has no criminal record, allegedly committed.
Luckily, judge only gave Olesinov one year instead of five years demanded by the prosecution. Aleksei said that although he has been sick in prison, one year sentence will be no big deal for him. But obviously this was still a miscarriage of justice, as Olesinov had not committed any crime whatsoever and a reason to protest. Really Olesinov is in prison only because he is an anti-fascist activist, and because Russian courts are tightly controlled by the state - they have no chance to release people who are remanded, as that would automatically result a criminal charge against police who arrested them.
Already for a week, Moscow police had been vigilance - originally verdict was expected to be given 14th of April, but as anonymous anti-fascist group called for organisation of attacks against "banks, police stations and expensive stores" (call in Russian here http://free-olesinov.livejournal.com/612.html), authorities panicked and passed verdict to monday 20th week - people who went to support Olesinov 14th of April, were arrested when they were just exiting from metro, and slapped with fabricated misdemeanor charges of "illegal demonstration". Whole region was packed with OMON riot police.
Soon authorities realised, that it would be a fiasco to send anti-fascist to jail in Hitler's birthday, and eventually verdict was passed to Tuesday 21st. There was also a heavy riot police presence all around the city, not only due to anti-fascist plans but also to prevent possible Nazi provocations which at times happen around 20th of April.
However anti-fascists managed to gather following high level of conspiracy, and to mass more than people to Mendeleyevskaya metro station from where a march towards infamous Butyrka prison around 9:10 PM (where Nestor Makhno once spent almost a decade), where Olesinov is held. Scanning "Freedom to Aleksey Olesinov", "Antifa", "No Pasaran" and other anarchist and anti-fascist slogans, behind a big banner "More there will be repression - more rage there will be in our resistance - We do not want peace without social justice - freedom to Aleksei Olesinov!", march made it to the Butyrka prison, where it turned back and to the Lesnaya street in an improvised move. At the crossing, plain clothes cops tried to snatch someone, who resisted succesfully. However in Lesnaya street around 9:25 PM march was stopped by a bus of OMON, who eventually managed to arrest 80 people. Some people were beaten up, one participator had his jaw broken he was hospitalised. During arrest, a crowd of people was pushed to desk of a vegetable vendor which got broken, and now police is spreading lies that demonstrators were breaking shop windows.
As usual, arrested people were threatened and stolen some of their property by the police. Some people were released the same night, some were forced to stay for the court the same day. When writing this (9 PM local time 22nd of April), it is still not clear if everyone have been released.

According to Russian internet news service www.gazeta.ru Russian authorities issued an international arrest warrant for Saidzon Radzabov, a migrant worker from Tajikistan. On the 26th of March Saidzon had been attacked at a train station in Kolomno (between Moscow and Riazan) by a group of Nazis. This time however their victim defended himself very well and as result of this 3 Nazis died (one on the spot and two died later in hospital because of loss of blood). The remaining attackers fled the scene. We salute the brave stand of Saidzon and hope that he will not be caught.

Odessa/Ukraine one Nazi dies after attack on Anti-fascists
On the 17th of Arpil in Odessa (Ukraine) a group of 15 Nazis decided to approach 5 Anti-fascists sitting outside a shop. After initial verbal abuse and a bit of pushing and shoving the Nazis attacked and a big fight resulted from this. During the fight local Nazi activist Maksim Czajka (his picture here http://antifa-odessa.ucoz.ru/ ) was killed and his friend is in a serious condition in hospital. Police are investigating the incident as a case of "hooliganism" and have identified all Nazis taking part in the attack. As for now we do not know whether Anti-fascists will face any charges.
On the 18 th of April Polish fascists celebrated the 75 anniversary of the creation of ONR (National Radical Camp) in the city of Czestochowa in south Poland. About 200 of them attended a demonstration and a gig that took place later. Small group of anti-fascists were also in the area to make sure that at least a few of them will rememeber the celebrations properly. 4 fascists making their way home had been attacked and left in sorry state after a quick but frank exchange of views with Anti-fascists. One of them has described the whole story on the internet forum and is apparently traumatized after attending his first fascist demo ever :) Also in the true spirit of unity some fascists had been fighting with each other during the gig, after they consumed a lot of alcohol and began arguing which football team is better.
The following message has been sent by the group Anty Nazi Chuligani (Anti Nazi Hooligans):
"On 18th of April neofascists going to Czestochowa to demonstrate on the 75th anniversary of the creation of ONR (National Radical Camp) were greeted in Warsaw by "welcoming commitees". All fascists travelling by trains through Warsaw had been welcomed "warmly and from the heart". As a result of those greetings some of them were unable to attend demonstrations in Czestochowa and those that made it wore the clear marks of "Warsaw hospitality". Also those coming back from Czestochowa were not forgotten. Despite the early morning hour those returning had been reminded that in this city fascists do not have and will not have an easy life. It is also worth mentioning, that comradeship is not a strong point among fascists. Gentleman! You don't leave your friends behind to face the muscic!"

Moscow anti-fascist is on trial for his anti-fascist believes! International solidarity is needed! Next Tuesday, the 21st of April 2009, a verdict will be announced in the case of Moscow anti-fascist Alexei Olesinov. He has already been in pretrial incarceration for more than 5 months (since 6 of November 2008). The prosecutor demands 5 years of prison for him. The anti-fascist is accused of "hooliganism in a group" (article 213, part 2 Criminal code of Russian Federation). Specifically, he is accused of a fight with the guards of night club "Cult," which allegedly took place on the 30th of August 2008. He was arrested two months after the event took place, and a criminal case was only started then. It has been falling apart from the very beginning: for instance, there is no "injured party" (guards claim that neither moral nor physical harm was caused). All the evidence and statements prove that the case is completely fabricated. The investigation agencies also claim in their investigation file that Olesinov is a leader of an "informal movement - antifa," as if it is an extra crime so it is explicitly political persecution case. Alexei Olesinov could, quite likely, receive a long prison term. Besides the fact that our comrade will be deprived of freedom that can be also a really dangerous precedent for the Russian anti-fascist and other movements when the person active in these movements can be sent to prison on absolutely arbitrary grounds. While some time is still left, we can try to influence the decision currently being made at a very high level by putting international pressure on the authorities. An anti-fascist should not be convicted! We need your help and solidarity! What can you do? Organize actions at Russian embassies demanding immediate freedom to Alexei Olesinov. You can phone, send a fax or a telegram to the court where the case of Olesinov is being tried and demand to stop the criminal prosecution of Alexei Olesinov and his immediate freedom! November 29, 2008 - Saturday

The 11th of November is Independence Day in Poland. Every year fascist scum use this opportunity to march through the streets and demonstrate their "patriotism". Very often they meet opposition of militant anti-fascists. This year was no different. This year the march was organized by ONR (National-Radical Camp), also participating were other low-lifes from NOP (National Rebirth of Poland), BH/C18 and other assorted scumbags. Warsaw anarchists, gathered under the name of the 'Anti-fascist Coalition', put a call out for mobilization to blockade of the march. On the day there were a few hundred people gathered in nearby streets and when the fascist march of around 300 strong was a few hundred meters away, a group with a reinforced banner saying "Fascist free Warsaw" blocked the street and quickly everybody else joined in, forming a successfull blockade. The police appealed to demonstrators to move from the road and to "not break the law" but they were ignored. As the fascists approached, police tried to push the demonstrators from the road but they stood strong so riot police decided to kettle everyone in where they stood, with watercannons on standby in nearby streets. Those of the fash that were brave enough to come close got bottles and rocks fired at them and few of them got dealt with by "undercover" Antifa mixed with onlookers and passerbys. A few smoke bombs went off too. Police decided to detour the fascists march through side streets and they followed like sheep. A few dozen people managed to break away from the kettle while others inside were amusing themselves by poking fun at riot coppers, and having various types of fun such as trying to put condoms on their truncheons... After the march passed the police spent a further two hours slowly releasing people after filming and IDing them. Throughout the day there were lots of less 'official' Anti-fascist "sport sections" operating in the area and other parts of the city. A few dozen fascists had the privilege of intense political dialogue with them, which for some ended up in hospitalization and for others in bruised bodies and battered egos. There was only one arrest on the day, but police are now threatening to prosecute people that were identified as trouble makers during the blockade. Some may face charges of "disrupting a legal gathering". In general the day was a great success with a fantastic effort from everyone and a winning score for the militant anti-fascists. some photos: http://www.szymczuk.fotolog.pl/niepodleglosciowe-marsze-i-blokady,1687760,link.html http://miasta.gazeta.pl/warszawa/51,95190,5913432.html?i=2 http://www.pl.indymedia.org/pl/2008/11/39526.shtml

6th of July 22 year old anti-fascist Aleksei Bychin was arrested in St. Petersburg. He is facing charges according to statute 111, part 1 of Russian criminal codex (consciously causing grievous bodily harm). 18th of July he was put to remand prison.
In night between 12th and 13th of June a group of around 20 anti-fascist punks was hanging around in the city. Aleksei and his friend were behind the main group. A group of two Nazi skinheads passed by them, they throwing "sieg hail"-greetings. Aleksei understood, that Nazis were about to attack him, as one of them was carrying a broken bottle. A fight started, and Aleksei was forced to use knife against one of the attackers. He wounded one of the Nazis with a knife, and fascists escaped. Eventually it become known that one of the Nazis was a police officer.
In June and July St. Petersburg police was investing the case, using a wide variety of illegal means. A number of punks from St. Petersburg and surrounding areas were taken to "discussions" which lasted hours, no protocols were made during these "discussions". People were threatened, illegally detained after concerts, contents of mobile phones were confiscated, police even set up false accounts in popular Russian social networking site vkontakte.ru (a facebook copycat) in order to gather information.
16th of July in St. Petersburg one anti-fascist punk was arrested while leaving from home. He was taken to 76th police station in Mytinskaya street 3, and chained to a battery for several hours. After this, he was forced to call Aleksei Bichin and to propose him a meeting in the center of the city. In this meeting, Aleksei was arrested and taken to 76th police station. Police refused food and water, which friends of Aleksei carried to police station. It is also worth of noticing that during interrogation of one of the witnesses of the events in 76th police station in 17th of July, police were drunken, announced that they are supporting National-Socialism and were throwing sieg heil-greetings. Home of Aleksei and his friend were searched as well.
We, friends and comrades of Aleksei are certain, that in fight during night between 12th and 13th of July he was acting out of selfdefence. We are supporting any means of resistance against Neonazism, direct and physical action included. For us it is obvious, that government organs are fed with nationalist mood, and while these tendencies are not outrooted, we may not trust a single word from speeches of government officials for tolerancy and against xenophobia.

On the 18th of November, an action against repression of anti-fascists will take place at Metro Station "Novokucnetskaya" in Moscow. Action will begin 16:00, and will demand freedom for anti-fascist prisoner Aleksey Olesinov. Aleksey is imprisoned for more than 10 days already, and has been held incommunicado by authorities, his lawyer Stanislav Markelov has still not been allowed to meet with him. Health condition and conditions in which he is kept are not known to his relatives and friends. Friends of Olesinov are certain, that he is persecuted due to participation to anti-fascist activities. Aleksei Olesinov was arrested 6th of November, and accused of "hooliganism", according to statue 213, second part of Russian criminal codex. Although he has never before faced criminal charges, he was remanded. Police motivated the decision to remand him with the fact that Olesinov is an anti-fascist activist. Formal pretext for arrest is an insignificant fight which took place 30th of August between visitors of one of the Moscow clubs and security of the club. Nobody was wounded during the fight, Olesinov was arrested the same night close to the club, but eventually police who arrested him did not pressed even misdemeanor charges against him. For unclear reason case of Olesinov is united with two felony investigations. Another of them is the murder case of anti-fascist activist Fyodor Filatov. It is possible, that police attempts to hide fact that investigation is doing nowhere by arresting one of the activists of the anti-fascist movement. Case of Olesinov is under personal control of first vice-minister of internal affairs M.I.Suhodolskiy. It is rather unlikely, than an average case of "hooliganism" is under a personal control of first vice-minister of internal affairs. Currently Olesinov is kept in remand prison of "Butyrka", but he was in a police prison for 6 days, which is a reason to believe that police tortured him there in order to gain information on workings of anti-fascist movement. Participators of the anti-fascist movement demand to stop violations of legal rights of Aleksey Olesinova, to give him an access to lawyer, and also to stop using murder of Fyodor Filatov to purposes which have nothing to do whatsoever with the murder investigation. Oficial info :
In the morning on October, 10th, 2008, Filatov «Fedjay» Feodor Vasilevich has died in hospital from plural knife wounds. He was only 27 years old.
In 7:30 a.m. he came out from entrance of the house. He was attacked by four unknown persons, armed with knives. There is no doubt that these people planned this attack. As a result, having received numerous knives's injuries, Feodor Filatov has been taken to hospital on the ambulance. Feodor has died in hospital, without coming to his senses.
We, friends and comrades, deeply grieve over his untimely death. We remember Fedjay as the staunch friend and the fine person who could not pass by the stranger's misfortune or leave a comrade in a trouble. It was one of those people who stood at basis of Moscow Trojan Skinheads, community of apolitical antiracist skinheads from Moscow and Moscow Region. He made for development of Russian antiracist skinhead scene so much as nobody else. There is no doubt, that he was murdered for his believes.
Memory of him will eternally live in our hearts. Rest in peace, the brother.
Never forget! Never forgive!

Moscow antifa lawyer bill fundraiser
In beginning of July there was a fight with knives between Nazi skinheads and audience of a ska-concert. Three Nazi skinheads landed to hospital. X was arrested and tortured by police, although he did not stabbed any of the Nazis (not that support of ABC Moscow is conditional to someone being "not guilty"). The next day X was released, but as we do not know how things will proceed, X needs a lawyer and needs help with covering his legal bill.

Antifascist in prison
In November 2007 Andrei was given a 3 year prison sentence for participation to a fight, which took place in June of the same year. He was fighting with a Nazi, and wounded him with a screwdriver which Nazi dropped during a fight. (A sharpened screwdriver is a weapon of choice of many Russian Nazis – against good opponent it is not as good as a knife, but it is better for finishing a hapless victim as it punctures tissue more deep). Russian mainstream media used the case in order to discredit anti-fascist movement. Journalists supported claim of the Nazi that he was picked up as a random victim, and was not a Nazi but non-political goth, as he claimed in the court:

Here is another photo where you may spot his "gothic" tattoo: http://i017.radikal.ru/0807/c4/dc8eac855caf.jpg
Write support mail to Andrei to address Andrei Mergenov FGU IZ 64/1 OKB 2 komn. 73 Up. Kutyakova 107 410601 Saratov Russia
Even better if you manage to write address in Cyrillic letters:

ANTIFA news from Poland Repressions against Anti-fascists in Bialystok Last year there was a period of serious increase in activity of local neonazis. From attacks on "unPolish" looking people, through to the desecration of a Jewish cemetery, monuments and local buildings were covered with nazi slogans and these sort of events became daily bread in Bialystok. Local Anti-fascists didn't leave this situation without reaction and decided to take matters into their own hands. Nazi slogans were painted over, thousands of Antifa stickers covered the city and nazi bandits themselves became the target of repeated attacks. News about Antifa started spreading fast. This didn't make the "guardians of law and order" very happy. Police began a campaign directed at local Antifa members-stop and search, detentions, the confiscating of legal self defence weapons and trying to fine people for their possession! There were attempts of psychological warfare (writing letters to parents of people etc.) and other sort of tactics aimed at intimidating Anti-fascists and showing them who rules the city. In March a few people got their houses raided, their computers and mobile phones were confiscated and they were presented with absurd charges, which were later overthrown. On the 13th of April 10 people were arrested on charges of assaulting two nazi skinheads. Earlier that day one Antifa activist had been stabbed 5 times by nazi scum. During the arrests cops pretended not to notice a group of Nazis charging Antifa with drawn knives. All of the arrested Antifa activists were held over night and then released, but they have to pay about 450 pounds each of bail money and report to the police station once a week. All this clearly shows what many Antifas have known for years- that "guardians of law and order" stand on the opposite side of the barricade and we can expect nothing good from them. At the same time during interrogations a few people from Antifa had been offered deals if there was co-operation and cops tried to sell stories about how they "also don't like Nazis" etc. Of course those offers were ignored- after all our main slogan is "against state, police and Nazis". Far right and guardian dogs eventually always end up on the same side- more and more facts show that some Nazis give information to police and on this basis a few people have been arrested. Whatever happens, our struggle continues. This is not the first time the forces of repression have tried to suffocate Anti-fascists resistance in Bialystok. They didn't manage before, they will not manage now. Our ranks are growing all the time with people that have had enough of Nazi bandits and enough of waiting for somebody else to solve the problem for them. In the meantime legal help for activists facing charges is being organized. Antifa- the struggle continues! (if you want to help with legal costs write to: barbarians(at)riseup.net Wroclaw 12/04- fascists try to march but they fail On the 12th of April two Polish nationalist organizations NOP (National Rebirth of Poland) and ONR (National-Radical Camp) held a march in the city of Wroclaw (South Poland). First they tried to legalize it under the pretext of "commemoration of nationalists killed by Communists and Nazi regimes" (how funny taking into account that lots of nazi skinheads were expected to turn up as well) but when they got refused they finally got it legalized, two days before the march, by claiming the "commemoration of Katyn victims" (Katyn was a prison camp in Russia, where thousands of Polish P.O.W.s and policemen were executed by Soviets in 1940). Antifa wasn't left with much time to mobilise. In the meantime a group called Young Socialists called for a legal counter demonstration. During the day about 200 fascists and some Nazis turned up. The Anti-fascist counter-demonstration was small, about 30-40 people strong. There were also a few dozen militant anti-fascists from all over country hanging out in the area. A few times fascists were attacked, each time most of them legging it, unwilling to confront Antifa. One was hospitalised after being beaten unconscious by Antifas just moments before a fascist group was ready to launch an attack on more liberal anti-fascists. Many more had been injured (see pictures). On the side of Antifa there was only one person slightly injured. Police decided to stop the fascist march before it really started, they cordoned them off and then detained those that refused to move. Antifa scouts overheard some fash pleading to police to detain them because they were afraid to meet anti-fascists again. So much for brave white warriors…At the end almost all of them had been detained, fined for different minor offences and released in the evening. There were some Antifa arrests and 5 people got charged with assault and had to pay between 250 and 800 euros of bail money and have to report to the police station once a week. The organizers of the legal counter - demonstration didn't bother with the arrested people and didn't organize any legal help at all, disconnecting themselves from militant Anti-fascists. Following a nationalist internet forum Antifascists had been amused to read lots of fearful comments instead of the usual "antifa ha ha ha." The best comment posted was of one nationalist saying "My doctor told me that my nose will never be the same again". The liberal media were all in shock of what happened, because it was anti-fascists openly attacking right wingers, not fitting into the criteria of helpless victims or righteous self-defence. Antifa has shown once again what militant resistance should look like and how successful it can be! At the moment there is money being organized for legal help and to cover bail costs but if you can help please do.
