Current mood: good
Monday - Went to Emo's for Little Dragon. DJ Car Stereo Wars opened. He was an alright dj. I'll give him a props for mashing Radiohead's Idioteque w/ M.C. Hammer's U Can't Touch This. Little Dragon was great. Yukimi sounded amazing. The crowd was a bit lackluster, but we'll blame it on a case of the Monday's for the decline of moving bodies. Best believe I got into the groove though. They performed a lot of material from their new album and my heart went a-flutter when they closed the show with "Twice" - that song is so good it hurts.
I got there just in time to catch Scorpion Child - a band worthy of their epic 70's rock band name. I could totally picture a sweet mural of a scorpion an a van somewhere. All jokes aside, I thought these guys were rad. I'm glad I got my ass out of the coffee shop in time to catch the last half of their set. Cage The Elephant was good stuff. The lead singer looked more than slightly inebriated, but he was definitely a crowd pleaser - jumping into the crowd and staying there for the first song. Those guys knew how to rock - and who says nothing good comes from Kentucky? They played a new song which was drenched in punk influence - I adored it. The crowd for this show was really into it despite 50% of the patrons looking like they made a wrong turn while looking for the ultra mega dope night club; but alas, everyone was into it. I was pretty stoked I got to hit up the show.
Wednesday - An impromptu roadtrip back to Austin with Krystal & Jerm to see Skinny Puppy. I had no idea these guys were even in town until about 2 hours before showtime. Oh Twitter, how I love thee for keeping me in the know. We got to the outdoor - yes, outside; chilly - show just in time for the show. It was your typical SP show and it was not disappointing. Amazing visuals, great sound, and of course Ogre being the awesome creeptastic motherfucker he is. His costume mirrored something like what I would see if a deranged KKK member was attacking me in my dreams. Loved it. Of course, I was a fan of the old songs and found myself getting all goth topic and nostalgic when Worlock & Assimilate played, hehehe... Once again, another concert on a whim that turned out to be rad as fuck. I love Skinny Puppy.
My goodness, I'm getting spoiled already with this concert love in Austin - a city programmed for a music whore like myself. (Gee, I wonder why I'm considering moving there.)
I'm 90% sure I'm seeing 311 next week too.... and if you haven't noticed yet; yes, my musical taste is all over the place - just the way I like it. ;-)

Forcing someone to sacrifice their own happiness for yours is a selfish act; and more importantly, leads to living a life that is not genuine if you force one into this type of emotional slavery. I cannot imagine the type of fulfillment one can recieve from doing so to another person; because fulfillment itself simply does not exist in this way. That sense of fulfillment is nothing more than a facade, a security blanket, a curtain covering one's own personal fears they have about themselves - whether those fears be loneliness, failure, rejection, or the like. Quite simply, it's forcing someone to be dishonest to themselves for your own personal gain; and dishonesty is eradicating. Truth is fulfilling. To live a lie no matter how good the lie is, will never be as fulfilling or rewarding as accepting your own happiness and more importantly accepting & respecting others' - that's what's called selflessness.

The infamous Black Friday. A total exploitation of consumerism that I will not be a part of. *hides* My deepest sympathy for those of you who work in retail on such a wretched day. Seriously, I feel for ya. And lets hope no one dies this year, k? Is that 75% off trinket really worth someone's life? I think not.
Here's a good quote I saw today: "As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them."
Word.

Chatted it up with my grandma... she helped me with some details I needed for a new tattoo. She thinks I'm crazy. ♥ her.
