US show to see if truth is out there

US TV makers have set a date for when they will visit the site in Wales where a mysterious UFO was spotted by police.

The unknown object, spotted by officers in a South Wales Police helicopter above RAF St Athan, in the Vale of Glamorgan, prompted a wave of extra-terrestrial excitement.

Now hit American investigative show UFO Hunters, which is shown on the History Channel, will visit Wales on August 25 to find out if the truth really is out there.

Speaking from Los Angeles, show producer Dave Peroni said they had been inundated with calls and e-mails from people who claimed to have witnessed the flying object on June 8, from as far afield as Abergavenny and Newport.

"We have been monitoring what has been going on in Wales over the summer and it has been absolutely crazy," he said.

"We will be talking to witnesses and taking a scientific view as to what the explanation for these events would have been.

"A lot of people have come forward to tell us what they saw that night on June 8. We will be speaking to all of them when we come to visit."

UFO Hunters, which is in its second series, will also visit parts of England where there have been sightings in recent months.

Dave said he had no doubt there was something out there.

"The experts I have interviewed in the show are very bright people," he said. "I have talked to police officers, ex-military people that have compelling stories to tell. There's nothing for them to gain by lying."

Dave wants to speak to anyone who has seen UFOs to e-mail him on dave@motionpictureprod.com

The UFO seen by police flew over the Vale of Glamorgan, over Cardiff and then over the Bristol Channel. An unnamed source claimed the object was "flying saucer shaped" and could not be seen with night-vision goggles, but was clearly visible to the naked eye.

Just came accross this amazing news. Of couse NASA are going to deny it either way they are going to be accused of a cover-up lol

Apollo 14 astronaut claims aliens HAVE made contact - but it has been covered up for 60 years

Last updated at 8:55 PM on 23rd July 2008

Edgar Mitchell

Edgar Mitchell was the Lunar Module Pilot for Apollo 14

Aliens have contacted humans several times but governments have hidden the truth for 60 years, the sixth man to walk on the moon has claimed.

Apollo 14 astronaut Dr Edgar Mitchell, said he was aware of many UFO visits to Earth during his career with NASA but each one was covered up.

Dr Mitchell, 77, said during a radio interview that sources at the space agency who had had contact with aliens described the beings as 'little people who look strange to us.'

He said supposedly real-life ET's were similar to the traditional image of a small frame, large eyes and head.

Chillingly, he claimed our technology is 'not nearly as sophisticated' as theirs and "had they been hostile", he warned 'we would be been gone by now'.

Dr Mitchell, along with with Apollo 14 commander Alan Shepard, holds the record for the longest ever moon walk, at nine hours and 17 minutes following their 1971 mission.

'I happen to have been privileged enough to be in on the fact that we've been visited on this planet and the UFO phenomena is real,' Dr Mitchell said.

'It's been well covered up by all our governments for the last 60 years or so, but slowly it's leaked out and some of us have been privileged to have been briefed on some of it.

alien

UFO theorists believe Roswell in New Mexico was the site of an alien crash in 1947

'I've been in military and intelligence circles, who know that beneath the surface of what has been public knowledge, yes - we have been visited. Reading the papers recently, it's been happening quite a bit.'

Dr Mitchell, who has a Bachelor of Science degree in aeronautical engineering and a Doctor of Science degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics claimed Roswell was real and similar alien visits continue to be investigated.

He told the astonished Kerrang! radio host Nick Margerrison: "This is really starting to open up. I think we're headed for real disclosure and some serious organisations are moving in that direction.'

Mr Margerrison said: 'I thought I'd stumbled on some sort of astronaut humour but he was absolutely serious that aliens are definitely out there and there's no debating it.'

Officials from NASA, however, were quick to play the comments down.

In a statement, a spokesman said: "NASA does not track UFOs. NASA is not involved in any sort of cover up about alien life on this planet or anywhere in the universe.

'Dr Mitchell is a great American, but we do not share his opinions on this issue.'

I thought this was an interesting case and clearly suggests in spite of the recent release of information on UFO reports in the UK some cases are still being covered up.
The Berwyn mountain rangeOne of Britain's greatest UFO mysteries deepened last night after a new witness emerged after 34 years. The Government allegedly covered up the "Welsh Roswell" incident, in the Berwyn mountain range in 1974, after scores of residents reported a massive tremor, strange lights in the sky and "Men in Black" scouring the area.

Claims that aliens crash-landed and their bodies were then transported by the Ministry of Defence to the top-secret research base Porton Down in Wiltshire were dismissed by Whitehall officials. But suspicions about what really happened were re-ignited in May this year when hundreds of MoD documents about UFO sightings were released, with none containing any details about the Berwyn incident, reviving rumours of a cover-up.

Now, fresh evidence by retired gamekeeper Geraint Edwards, of Llandderfel, Denbighshire, has reopened the debate. He told the makers of a new Channel Five documentary, which is being broadcast tonight, how he stood in amazement as a flying saucer hovered for 10 minutes above the mountains before it disappeared into space at impossible speed.

He said: "It was definitely a flying saucer. It was a pity I didn't have a camera because it was there for at least 10 minutes, just hovering.

"We were on the way down to play darts when something caught our eye in the south-east, so we stopped.

"It looked like a rugger ball, but the ends of it were more pointy.

"When it took off, it just went like lightning on the same line as it hovered.

"It hovered back to the mountain, and (then it was) gone.

"I wrote it down in my diary. It was 6.45pm on the Friday night.

"If we were coming back from the pub, people would be saying, 'they've had one or two (drinks)' but we were going to the pub."

His former neighbour, Pat Evans, a district nurse who gave a detailed eye-witness account of the phenomenon at the time, moved abroad to escape the mass attention she attracted from the media, UFO investigators and scientists.

But Mr Edwards has decided to speak out for the first time about his close encounter on February 15, 1974, for tonight's television programme re-examining the evidence.

Three weeks earlier, on January 23, the villages of Llandrillo and Llandderfel, near Corwen, were rocked by a tremor measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale.

Reports of unexplained strange coloured lights and objects in the sky immediately afterwards and unusual military activity in the following weeks fuelled speculation that a UFO had crash-landed.

Sceptics maintain the explanation was an unlikely combination of an earthquake which struck Wales at the same time that a meteor shower passed overhead, and that "Men in Black" who residents reported seeing were actually seismologists researching the quake.

They also insist Pat Evans, who saw a "bright orb, the size of the Moon" with twinkling around the edges, was actually looking at a lamp carried by poachers on a nearby mountainside.

The absence of any material on the incident from the newly released MoD documents in May has roused suspicions from other eye-witnesses.

But the Daily Post has gained access to documents on the Berwyn Mountains mystery which we have published on our website at www.dailypost.co.uk.

Farmer Huw Lloyd, 48, who was a teenager at the time, said: "Whatever it was, it was kept quiet. And things that have happened have been covered up."

Retired North Wales Police Assistant Chief Constable Elfed Roberts, who was a sergeant at the time of UFO incident, was rushing to Llandrillo moments after the tremor with his superior when they saw the mysterious lights.

He said: "As we were driving, all of a sudden we saw this green light in the sky ahead of us and it seemed to be an arcing light, but it was very sudden, totally unexpected, different to anything ever seen before."

UFO researcher Russ Kellett has asked anyone with information to call him on 0560 2826901.

Well as might have been predicted and often seems to happen in these UFO cases they've managed to dig up a newly-wed couple from Cowbridge who claim to have been setting off Chinese Lanterns. The BS begins see:

Wedding couple sparked UFO alert
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/7471724.stm

It's interesting to note how the BBC report this as if it's a fact. Problem is there's are a number of difficulties with this explanation which don't correlate with witness testimony.

Firstly the ufo was said to have approached the helicopter at high speed from below. Chinese lanterns never travel faster than the wind and being subject to the wind it would seem unlikely that one of these lanterns could approach a helicopter from below, because helicopters produce a tremendous down draft. particularly when hovering at 500 ft.

Secondly if the Chinese Lanterns were released in Cowbridge and were being blown by the wind on a southerly toward St Athen why did it then make toward Cardiff which is in a North Easterly direction from St Athen. Obviously for a Chinese lantern to do this it would require a complete change in wind direction.

Of course one must also bear in mind the witnesses were  police officers  including an experienced pilot. Surely on would expect a such witnesses to be able to ascertain the difference between something travelling on the wind or something travelling at "high speed". Obviously in pilot language "high speed" would tend to suggest something travelling in excess of 100 mph. Yet the winds were no where near this on the night in question in fact if they had been the news would be dominated by stories of a disastrous hurricane rather than news about a UFO lol

I mean how stupid do the BBC think Welsh people are?

Actually another reason I believe we are not getting the whole story here is I believe I may have witnessed a helicopter chasing something over Cardiff on the night in question. I don't want to say too much about this because I have reported to a UFO magazine which is investigating this and if other people come forward with the same details and description it might help to corroborate the evidence whereas if I give all the details away here it might serve to undermine the evidence.

However I can certainly say I think this latest BBC story is absolute BS and in fact it wouldn't surprise me if this latest story is completely fabricated. For some strange reason the mainstream media try to fabricate these weird cover stories. Actually in a recent case in Phoenix Arizona they claimed some guy had tied traffic flares to balloons, with Nylon twine, which might have made sense but for the fact Traffic flares burn very hot 1000 degrees or more and would instantly melt through nylon twine and would also without any doubt burst a balloon so that story was obviosly BS not to mention illegal because they have laws against setting off fireworks and flares in Phoenix because it's desert and the risk of wild fires. :)

Of course it beats me why they come up with these silly stories, because rather than sound reassuring obviously it makes one wonder what they are trying to cover-up so isn't reassuring at all.

I just bought Cardiff Echo, because as I was riding my bicycle up Queen street unconsiously reading the newpaper headlines on those signs signs the Echo sellers have, I noticed this headline, so I thought that's some interesting news for a change. It's on the front page and the main story in todays South Wales Echo with a picture of one of those Independence day UFOs over Cardiff tallest building a take off of the Independence day film posters where of course the UFO is over the Empire State Building . The headline on this story is a bit different in the online version so I've included the headline as it was on the printed version because it's a better headline. :)

UFO OVER CARDIFF?

But don't panic, it happens all the time, say police

A MYSTERY aircraft spotted in the skies today sparked a debate over whether UFOs could be flying over South Wales.

According to some reports, South Wales Police officers in a helicopter gave chase to "flying-saucer shaped" aircraft, after it zoomed over South Wales.

A spokeswoman for the force was today quick to play down the incident.

An anonymous source said the incident happened while the helicopter was at 500ft and waiting to land at the Ministry of Defence's St Athan base in the Vale of Glamorgan. The crew saw the UFO speeding towards them from below, the source said.

"It closed in at great speed, aiming straight at the helicopter," the source said.

"The chopper had to swerve sharply to avoid being hit. The guys said if they'd stayed where they were, they'd be dead – it would have been a direct hit.

"They are convinced it was a UFO. It sounds far-fetched, but they know what they saw.

"These guys are hardened professionals and know people will take the mickey, but they are certain they saw a UFO."

The source added that afterwards it flew towards Cardiff and then headed across the Bristol Channel.

The un-named source also claimed the crew could not see the craft with their night-vision goggles, but that it was clearly visible to the naked eye.

South Wales Police Control Room Inspector Ann Johnson confirmed the air support unit had spotted an unusual aircraft.

"This was reported to the relevant authority," she said.

But she added: "In today's skies, there are a large number of aircraft which come in a range of different shapes and sizes and in all probability, this sighting has just confirmed that one of these was in the area at the time."

But Terry Phillips, a neighbourhood watch coordinator, who contacted 101 about the sighting, said there was no doubt in his mind that the sighting was an alien from another world.

"I have seen strange things in the sky over the years," said the 64-year-old, from Pontcanna, Cardiff.

"The government will always says it's a load of nonsense or that it was a balloon. But I think it was something following them – something not from this planet."

MoD community relations officer for Wales, Peter Sinclair, said he was baffled by the incident.

"Nobody from the MoD was at the base at the time it happened," he said.

"We couldn't find any information about it. I would really like to know the truth of the story."
