LeRoi Moore, saxophonist and founding member of the Dave Matthews Band, died Tuesday from complications stemming from injuries he sustained in an ATV accident, the band's publicist said.

Moore, 46, died "unexpectedly" at a hospital, publicist Ambrosia Healy said in a statement.

Moore was taken to Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, and had been rehabilitating at his L.A. home after the June 30 accident at his farm outside Charlottesville, Virginia.

Speaking for myself and the rest of Atypical Situation, LeRoi will be missed.  He lives on through the music of the Dave Matthews Band, and in the hearts of thier fans!

Rest in peace brother, rest in peace!

It's been too long...

Or so the Dave Matthews song goes.  So, I wanted to take an informal "poll", if to do nothing else but to see if anyone actually reads these blogs.  So here goes:

Is anyone interested in seeing Atypical Situation get back together???

Let me know.  We never really broke up.  We've been on a loooooooong break, mostly because of my new job.  Isn't it funny how work is a four-letter word?

Let me know where we should be playing!  Let me know if you know of any booking agents who can get us gigs!  LOL!  Managing a band while trying to maintain a full-time job sucks!

I know I'd like to go out and play again.  I have so much respect for the other member of Atypical Situation, and have enjoyed performing the music of the Dave Matthews Band with them.  But it's really up to you: the fans!!!

So, I've got a couple DMB shows for the Summer 2007 tour under my belt.  I have to say that for the most part, they have not been a disappointment!  My seats have sucked ass, but that's not Dave's fault.  I guess from one perspective, I shouldn't complain because I was able to get seats via the DMB Fan Club (a.k.a. Warehouse), but I thought my seats would get BETTER the longer I remained a member, not worse.

OK, enough bitchin' (for now).  I saw Dave and the boys play at Live Earth.  True, not a DMB show, but a great "warm up" for the Summer Tour!  Songs like "Don't Drink The Water", "One Sweet World" and "Too Much" were perfect choices for this event.  Dave had some early guitar trouble during "Don't Drink The Water", and actually performed the first half of the song without playing any guitar.  That was a rare treat!

Then my girlfriend and I headed up to Hartford, CT, to catch the first night of a double-header that DMB was playing there.  It was our first concert at the New England Dodge Music Center, and Dave and the band kicked ass!  We missed the opening act, Xavier Rudd, but he came out and joined DMB for a killer version of "Bartender" on didjeridu!  Sweet!  I should mention that the show featured some new songs: "27", "Sister", "The Idea of You" (OK, "Sister" and "The Idea of You" are not new, but they're not off any album either), and "Corn Bread".

We actually went to see the Police the very next night at Giant's Stadium, but I'll talk about that show in my personal blog.

Wednesday night, we headed down to Camden, to catch the 2nd night at the Tweeter Center.  I had friends who saw the first night, and said it was a mellow show.  Well, Wednesday, the band came out swinging, and played "Two Step" as the opener!  Holy shit!  We also got our seats "upgraded" from our crappy section down to near the front, thanks to some clever maneuverings on our part.  LOL!  It was hot as hell that night.  The humidity had to be 100%, and we were all sweating like pigs.  Dave and the band gave 110%, and he was dripping wet by the third song, and showed no signs of letting up.  The band's energy level was really high, and it was an awesome show!

I should comment on the band's video projection: it's amazing.  They do a nice "head fake" for the first song or two, and then the entire back of the stage is made up of three GIANT (floor to ceiling) projection "nets", for lack of a better work.  They are not really screens, but arrays of lights that act as video screens.  You get to see Dave and the band larger than life.  This makes it very easy to see them fro far back.  I can't believe they didn't do this sooner!  It's a perfect use of technology.  Right on Dave!

Hey, I came to you with best intentions....

I just wanted to fill everybody in on what's goin' on with Atypical Situation.  The band is on a "long term" break, mostly because I started a new job, and it has been consuming all of my time.  Anyway, I hope to be getting back into the "swing of things" soon...

In the meantime, we have a great summer of DMB ahead of us!  Are any of you going to the shows this summer?  I saw the Dave Matthews Band perform at Live Earth: awesome! In August I'll be at the Hartford how on Saturday night and then at the Camden show on Wednesday night (tryin' to sell an extra pair of tickets if you know anyone who's lookin').  Then its off to Atlanta for the Peidmont Park show, and back for Dave at Farm Aid.  Who want's to bet that Dave joins Neil Young for a song or two?

I'll probably have my guitar with me for the local shows, so try and hunt me down, and we'll play/sing some DMB or "solo Dave" tunes!

Life is short, but sweet for certain!

Well, as always, we rocked the house at Crossroads this past Friday night.  We jumped in for a last-minute cancelation, and we did two killer sets!  We could have played longer, but the venue had to get ready for a big event the next day, and had us stop around 1:40 AM.

We threw in some new songs, including a cover of Coldplay's "Yellow", which we did for our sound check.  Looks like this will be a new addition to our set list!

And while the crowd was small, they were true Dave Heads!  There was a nice group of pretty girls who came up and danced to almost every song in the 2nd set, and sang every word to every song we played!  Awesome!  I hope they'll come back to see us again, 'cause they made the show!

And I want to give prop's to my band!  You guys (and gal) are amazing!  I am the luckiest man alive to be able to play with such talented muscians!  And to top it all off, you're all good people too! (Hey fella... that's for you Mike!  LOL!).

I think it would be cool to play Crossroads again sometime in the not-to-distant future....
