Hey all you Band Stalkers out there! Krystal here, virtually speaking and I know what your all thinking, Why the hell is she rambling......and yes I am but I will get to a point eventually. but I know you all also saying.....drum roll please,

Long time no post... well life sorta got in the way,as it is known to do. Some one should really kick life's ass and put it in it's place. So I am back and I a taking a new approach to the Stalker reviews, they are going to a once a month format, I'll try to cover what I can and get others to do the same being a working Mom leaves not a lot of time to go to the clubs. But I have a few under my belt and I am going to tell you about them.

Now most of you out there know that my old mans band is Piss Off out of Indy, and they are starting to tear it up show wise, so look for them near you and do your self a favor and go out and check them out. check their page for dates. Most of the shows I'll be covering will involve them.  I will also have pictures from the shows int the pics you can view here on myspace, just look for the date of the show.

And now on to the bands!

New Years Eve @ The Berlin Music Pub
Hosted by Prinny and B-rad Productions

You can check them out here:
Free Image Hosting at allyoucanupload.com

First up on the bill for the Nuclear New Years Bash  was Verge of Submission.
Now I personally missed these guys play and I got to say that sucked, I head that they kicked ass,and judging by the myspace and the music there I believe it. you should all go and check them out! I don't have an pics as I wasn't there yet, but here is the page.
Verge Of Submission

Skeleton Crow was next up, and I did manage to catch them. you can check them here:  Skeleton Crow

They are a good solid band played mostly originals, I think they may have thrown a cover or two in there as well, but they had a couple of real good stand outs, personally I liked the "Mexicans with knives" I was also impressed with the fact that they brought out a harmonica, gave the sound a very southern rock metal sound, that I liked very much, so if you get a chance in Ft. Wayne to see them you should.

Piss Off was there to rock the New Year in the finishing their set just before midnight, and as always they rocked hard and had a great time. The crowd at the Berlin really liked them there. They played all originals and had a few songs that will be on the next album, I have their music playing on the page and you should go and check them out at their myspace and the website where you can buy the cd and other merch. (I know, biased huh?)

Piss Off

Bludsprye a band out of Ft. Wayne, most of the bands there that night were from there, is an original band with a few covers.  They had a pretty tight set and had a really good guitarist, dude could jam.If you can get out to see them, good bunch of guys doing their thing.

Bludsprye

Hollowed Saint followed our buddies Bludsprye and had a good crowd with them. I thought they sounded ok, but it really wasn't my thing, so I went and had to take care of some other business. but I got a shot or two of them before I bailed to take a break, but you can go and check the myspace, I can see how some would like them, they have a nitch sorta sound and it always finds it's people.Hollowed Saint

We had a nother band play late  called Sin-e-kel  and they rocked the way that they do, although it was NewYears eve and the guitar player had celebrate rather well, shall we say, but he played it out! you rock man! So o check them out!

Sin-i-kel

SO I hope you enjoyed this first page of the new BandStalkers vs 1.8
Page two will be posted tomorrow night, where I will cover a few more shows.

For now good night and rock hard!

Krystal

And because the music thing here won't have it I am listening to Piss Off as they practice down stairs! HORNS UP!!!!

Well it has been I think forever since I actually logged on and did anything with this account,, I am about to rectify that.. I have on the player a band called Piss Off I think that you should all go and check them out if you havent' done that allready, and if you have Kick ass!!!

they rock and I know I am a bit biased, (the old man is the singer for them) I still think they are one of the best local(INDY area) bands out there, and they will be in your face very soon, they are working on getting the album pressed and t-shirts ready to go, and the fans they have accumulated through the wonderful thing that is myspace are clamering for more!

So the moral to the story is go check out PISS OFF, and tell me what you think,, make them your friend tell them to kiss it,, just go check it,, Iwill have some more stuffup in the next few days there are some internet radio shows I think you should all go see as well.. look for them coming soon!!!

ROCK OUT!!!

Screaming Mechanical Brain

Screaming Mechanical Brain is an innovative four piece rock band that refers to themselves as The pioneers of video game metal.  To try and enclose them into any one sub-genre of rock would be completely impossible since their style is unlike any other.

Screaming Mechanical Brain (or SMB ) blends the stylings of hard rock with mind pumping electronica and samples from everyones most favorite old video games like Tetris and Pac man.   Their lyrics are political in nature yet done in a hilarious satirical manner which makes them fun to listen to yet they still crank the thinking wheels of your brain.

The members that make Screaming Mechanical Brain great are:

Reverend John Wheeler IV-Vocals, keytar, and samples:  Reverend John has similar vocal stylings to the legendary punk rock singer Jello Biafra of Dead Kennedys fame.  In addition to singing this phenomenal front man also plays the keytar which allows him to show his wacky energy on stage.

Owen Good III-Guitar:  I personally blame Owen for getting me addicted to this band in the first place.  Not only does this man play the sexiest and most creative guitar riffs in the Twin Cities, he is extremely fun to watch on stage.  His bright Orange hair and clothing will spark your curiosity and the fact that he can mosh in the pit while never missing a chord will convince you that this man is on his way to being one of the greatest guitar players that ever lived.

Bryan Da Gimp Pierson-Electronic drums, loops, and samples:  Bryan creates all kinds of interesting drum beats and sounds with his rather impressive electronic kit that helps give Screaming Mechanical Brain their unique catchy sound.

Cass Nee-Bass and additional keyboards:  When it comes to talent, Cass Nee defiantly has it.  His bass licks will have you bumping your head to each and every Screaming mechanical brain song.  He also plays mandolin and slide guitar on a few songs.

Screaming Mechanical Brain has two albums out on Atomic K records, Process of Assimilation and There Is No God in Space.  Check them out on Myspace, Check them out on their website, buy their albums and become a dedicated fan for life.

This could turn out to be a really sweet deal if it takes off!  Especially for all the music lovers here on AP.  Having a site dedicated to promoting new bands is awesome.  It's a great way to spread diversity and help get new sounds out and up.

The lay out looks pretty good for both the site and the blog.  When something is new, there is always room for growth, but this is a really good start as far as I can see.

Perhaps in the future you can expand to Canada (where I'm from).  Here in the city I live, there is a venue that promotes all Indy, and other local music talent.  Small-time bands from all over Canada have stopped in on their tours.

Best of luck in all that you do!

The Web cast:

The bands:

Psychostick

Indorphine

Bobaflex

The venue:

North Carolina

Im doing the usual stuff, checking e-mail, looking at the site, and then I see it. A bulletin from Karen Elliot at Mustang Agency, if youre in a band go see her here:

http://www.myspace.com/elliottbooking

Psychostick live on a web cast, I about freaked!

So of course I clicked on. What, me not watch the three bands Im addicted to, ha! Yeah right!

So away I went into cyber rock land, where to my surprise I found Psychostick setting up on the stage. This was really cool. I got to watch them set up and get ready, as if I was there, only with out the room full of people and the energy in the air, that always comes with this tour.

The band started off, and the video was pretty good. The sound wasnt that great in the beginning but it got better as it went. I know the guys rocked and the crowd rocked with them.

When the sound went out it was like watching an old Three Stooges comedy, completely worth every frenzied second of merriment and music! There for a bit the video started to go out but I was getting great sound. It was like watching life on strobe lights. Their album will hit stores in September, but if you catch a show you can get it before that so go see them, heres a link to find out all the info!

http://www.myspace.com/psychostick

But all in all it kicked some major ass!!!

Indorphine was up next on the list. Which was what I was waiting on, man Im telling ya if you havent heard these guys yet. Get out from under your rock and go buy the album!!!

I dont think Ill ever get tired of watching those guys. The performances that they put on are entertaining and bad ass! They have an energy that just sucks you in and wont let you go!  Its like stepping off the edge of the sidewalk and falling into strawberry jello and whipped cream. Sudden, unexpected, but all good! There is so much I could say and so much that I just cant put into words. I love this band! Thats it! The only downside to the cam shot was it was hard to see how much the crowds like the bands. Unless they were right up on the stage, you could see it. From what I could see the crowd there loved the boys as much as I would have, if I could have been there in the flesh. But I had to settle for rocking out in the office with the computer speakers turned up as far as they would go!

So like I said go buy the album: Glow Sticks For Clubbing Baby Seals

Heres a link, follow it!

http://www.myspace.com/indorphine

Boba flex was up last and everything started out great, they were rockin and part of the crowd was rockin. It was weird and I think the problem was that they were having some mic issues, but it only seemed like part of the crowd was jamming. The got the cord fixed and kept on going and the crowd  got more enthused. It was great to see that. I have sent Boba play at least 3 times and Jim has seen them Im thinking 6 times, could be more.  Most likely will be more after this week, as he is Band Stalking down in Florida.

And the crowd there seemed a bit put off maybe, but it was so hard to tell because of the camera. I had a limited view. Now mind you it was a good view, just limited.

Their album is out in stores now: Apologize for Nothing. Go buy it!!! Heres a link to see what they are doing:

http://www/bobaflexwarriors.com

Ok Band Stalkers, thats it for this one, but I shall have more to come. Im looking at a few demos on my desk and thinking I need to review those. Then Ill have some other stuff floating around out there. So stay tuned!

Rock Hard! Or dont rock!

Much luv-

Ok folks,

As I have already given a decent review about the venue itself, Buckaroos rocks!!

I think Ill move on to the actual show. Things went pretty well this time around, anyone that was there the last time knows about the electrical problems that the club had. So that was awesome.

The night started out with a local band in the Licking county area called CAMSHAFT.

The band consists of Braden on vocals, Damien on bass, Mark on guitars, and CRASH on drums. They played eight tunes, all originals, which is brownie points for me, cause it takes a little more to do your own stuff. Now I think that the band itself is really pretty good, I also think that that vocals could use a bit more power, he has a good stage presence but needs a little bit more in his output, all of which comes from experience, and would improve with time.

With songs like Run for your Guns and Even after Days I think that they have a good deal of potential. If you happen to be around Columbus on August 5th they will be playing at The Newport Music Hall as one of the opening acts for 13th Borne. If youd like more information about the show go here and get it, http://www.promowestlive.com/site/html/index.php

Moving on to the next band that graced the stage, it was TOPLESS, bringing in their usual crowd of fans. This band I got to see a bit of the last time we where at Buckaroos and Ill say it again, they have a tightness that will get them where they need to go. Leading up the crew on vocals was Michel Gleckler, Dusty McCoy on guitars, Ryan Brownfield on bass (aka Sgt. Stick), and Jerry Tolliver (aka T-Cup). They played four originals and two covers. As I said before Im an originals kinda girl, and the covers they played just werent my thing.

Other than that I think they gave it all and got some back. They are going to be really far out of their usual range of playing spots coming up on August 20th where they will be playing in Detroit, for the August, 20 2006 at The Shelter "Bodog battle of the bands" round 2 : 431 E Congress St, Detroit, MI 48201
Cost: 10-15. you can check this on their Myspace at http://www.myspace.com/toplessband

Beer is Good, Beer is Good, Beer Is Good and Stuff!!!

Ok I have that out of my system now. That is one of the side effects of watching the band Psychostick. You find your self talking about the greatness of beer and your car being a piece of sh*t. which for me is all good. I first heard about these guys through Jim, one of the other Band Stalkers here, after talking with Jimmy from Indorphine about them, I of course had to hunt them down and see what my ears had in store for them. Needless to say I was really surprised and happy about what I heard. so do your selves a favor and go there now, you can come back and finish reading its ok, I understand.

http://www.myspace.com/psychostick

These guys were electric. Lots of stage presence and it just made you want to rock out!!

With the assorted costumes and gear, its a visual delight as well as a treat to the ears. The song that impressed me the most really is Two Ton Paperweight I love this song, I dont think I have ever met anyone who didnt feel this way about a car at one point in their life. Another one that they didnt play but I heard on their demo was called Prozac Milkshake this one really shows of the melodic harmonies that these guys can do. Still touched with the comedy that is their style, I think that it is one to be heard! So every one go out get their cd which will be in stores on September 12th or if you happen to catch a show, buy one from the band! They would be happy to sell it to ya!  Ok now for some shameless promoting, because Im pushy like that & these guys are running with my boyz Indorphine, and Bobaflex!

There youve been sticked!!

Now on to Indorphine!

I have been completely obsessive about this band. I cant help it, I listen and it makes me smile. I had a chance to see them at the Alrosa Villa earlier in the year. Which was a great show, but at the time I didnt know the music. We picked up a cd that night and jammed the whole three hours home and Ive had it in my player off and on ever since.

Now I had been looking forward to this show for a week, it was like getting told you had a new Chrysler Crossfire, but you couldnt have the keys for a week!  I was so ready by the time the show came, it was unreal!  By the way If anyone wants to give me one, I want it in charcoal grey with black piping down the sides oh I know keep dreaming!

Anyway back to the band, Indorphine.  How to describe them, well I think the best way to do it is this. Be aware that when you go see them play live, you will never be the same. It was so alive and in your face. It charged you up just being in the same space as these guys.  It completely rocked. Jimmy Grant out front for vocals, Tanner Owings up on bass and does some lead vocals as well on a few songs, while Jimmy plays bass. Everett Sailor on drums, Buddy Fischel on guitars, and Adam Philips winding out the bunch.

I think all of us Band Stalkers wanted to see these guys, especially our Jr. Stalker Wolfboy. He was told on the night of the cancel that he could get up on stage and rock out with the guys. Well I don think I heard anything else out of him for the rest of the week. They rocked and as promised he rocked too! With stuff like Krucafried Chicken and Spaghetti on the menu it was sure to be a blast! Tanner gave us some Kingdoms Fall and Buddy even grabbed the mic for a spell. I have not seen so much mic swapping since I first started to listen to and go see Bobaflex! This band blows me away every time I see them or even hear them. So go out BUY the Album!!! Glow Sticks for Clubbing Baby Seals, in stores now!  So to finish that off, I love them! So go see them, its well worth it!

Heres link to see them!

   http://www.myspace.com/indorphine

Add this banner to your site!

And on to the Headliner..BOBAFLEX!!!!!!

I have seen these guys play 3 times, and Jim has seen them at least 6. I have watched the crowds get bigger, and sometimes they are small, but they always rock. The crowd was small at Buckaroos, but I liked it that way, it gave me a chance to have a more enjoyment of the show. I didnt have to compete for floor space, or table space. I was able to see everyone, and not have some guy in front of me thats at least three feet wide and seven feet tall, which made for a great show!  By the time they had rolled through the usual set and two encores, I had sweat dripping from my pigtails! They played some of my favorite songs.  Rescue You  Bright Red Violent Sex Guns A Blazin. The crowd although small was on fire! The whole place was rocking out and having a good time! I would have to say that this show was the best one that I had seen with them! It was one of those up close and personal kind of shows. I sit here and think about what else I can say about this show.. but I cant. It Was A Great Fracking show!!!! I have lots of pictures great memories and the want and need to see them again. This was high energy music at its best!

And now for the last little bit of shameless promotion here!!! BOBAFLEX!!!!

http://bobaflexwarriors.com

A HREF="http://www.myspace.com/bobaflex"target="_blank">

Ok folks, check out the pics I have posted, I will be rotating them out as I go.. so many of them. And Stay tuned. I picked up demos and all kinds of goodies, So Ill have so more band reviews and stuff.

The Place:

Buckaroos Heath, Ohio

The Show:

BOBAFLEX, INDORPHINE, PHYSCOSTICK, TOPLESS& D.T.D.

Tuesday July 18th

When we arrived in Heath after a three hour car ride from Indianapolis, we were needless to say, ready to stretch our legs and ready for some rockin music.

We arrived about  a half hour before the doors opened up, just in time to catch a couple of the guys from Indorphine, Jimmy, the front man, Everett, the man can rock some drums, and Buddy, guitar to scream to, as well as a few of the guys from Pschostick.

They were finishing up unloading gear, and getting set up.

Now you know, not every band will stop and chat with you, but these guys are great, Not only are they fabulous musicians, but they are real too, sometimes, (Jimmy swears hes superman) They enjoy talking with the fans.

And as a fan I think it rocks!

As this was an all ages event, we took the Jr. Stalkers along for the ride. The guys made sure to say hi to Wolf Boy, and thought it was cool that he was coming to see them for his first show. Miss Frost is a veteran of the rock shows, but enjoyed being able to talk with them.

As we talked about upcoming shows, and stuff going on, Febreeze (dont ask, it was funny) and Jimmy tells us that Bobaflex would not be making the show, vehicle breakdown.

Man talk about being bummed out. Boba is a big favorite with all of us, and weve seen them play several time. Always a good show! They rock it every time!

We soon part company, as they needed to get things done, and we didnt want to be in the way, so we went on inside, the doors having been opened.

Buckaroos

This venue is one that I would defiantly come back to see a show in. No questions asked. The size of the place is great for a show that will have a lot of energy, yet small enough to really give the fans a good show.

There is plenty of bar space for the over age crowd, as well as decent prices. They had lots of tables and chairs, pool tables and lounge areas.

The stage area was nice. Open with room for people and close enough that no matter where youre at you can see the band. There is a patio in back, where when weather permitting and during certain shows they have BMXs doing jumps.  All of which makes for a great place to see a show.

Two local bands were lined up to open up with the three regional bands. They were Destroying the Daylight (D.T.D.) and TOPLESS. Now as of the writing of this first part, I had some interview time with the two local bands, during the forced break in the show.

Forced break, what is she talking about? you ask.

Well lets start off by talking about the first band that was up on the stage.

Destroying the Daylight

This thrash core metal band hailing from Newark, Ohio played a thirty set including some originals and covers. Over all Id say if youre in heat and they are playing go see them, they are a good time. They had a slight equipment problem during a song and worked it out, then moved on. All in all, Id say they did a great job! It takes a lot of guts to get up there on that stage and put it all out there for every one to see. The front man Pryo, talked with me after the show, about future shows, and the events of the evening.

For all interested, they will be playing on the 5th of August at Tonys.

Check them out on myspace.

Topless was the next band up on the slate. This local band also from the heath Newark area has been playing together for four years, and it shows. They have a rocky grudgey punk sound that has a very interesting result. They had a good sound and nice groove to the driving beat they were playing. The local fans came out on force to watch, and that was an interesting addition to the show.

Look for them on myspace as well.

This is where the story gets interesting folks, this band also got about half way through their set when they started having equipment problems as well. The band and the house sound guy soon got the problem worked out and they started to rock out again. Now I had to go out to our vehicle while they were sill fixing problems, had to have the notebook, when Jim and I watched the lights on the building suddenly surge and go back to normal. We knew something had to be up, so we went back in as fast as our legs would carry us, and found the place dark, with only the emergency lights on the exits working.

Every one was groaning and complaining wandering what had happened, most had wandered out to the patio are, as it was still daylight. Thus the Forced Break!  Everyone bands included where out side chatting and cutting up, trying to pass the time. Finally we got the word, Show was done, the power line coming into the club was blown off the power pole, and would have to have the power company come out to fix.

Man now we where really bummed first no Bobaflex then no Indorphine, or Psychostick. But the evening was saved at least for us by being able to hang with the bands. A couple of the guys from Psychostick got out their gear, and did a little impromptu jam, with the wireless gear they had. It was then announced by some of the patrons to the show that the band could come out to their place and jam out. Seeing as we had a three hour road trip back to Stalker HQ, we declined the invite, but was reassured that the bands would be playing again on the following Monday night the 24th of July 20, 2006. After talking with the manager Jay, we were spotted a place on the guest list for the show.

All I can say is WOW. This was a great night! I enjoyed myself immensely got to see and talk to a few people I consider my friends, and listen to some good jams. I plan on finishing this piece with a part two, after the show on Monday. Ill be sure to fill every one in on all the good times.

I look forward to bringing you some interviews with the bands, and more information about show dates and future events.
