New Premier League season started, expectations are high, and here are some thoughts from Skysports abot United's start to the season:

The first weekend of the new Premier League campaign is over and supporters have now rediscovered their staple conversation subject matter.

Expectations were high among followers of the 'big four' - Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal - but all made heavy work of the kick-off to their domestic seasons.

Defending champions Manchester United were the only ones of the foursome not to open their account with maximum points, after being held to a 0-0 draw at home to Reading, and could therefore be viewed as the weekend's underachievers.

Despite bossing the possession and the chances, the Red Devils could not break down Steve Coppell's stubborn outfit, who had clearly travelled to Manchester intent on leaving with honours even.

United's dominance was almost embarrassing, especially after Reading's Dave Kitson received his 72nd minute marching orders for a rash challenge on Patrice Evra 37 seconds after coming off the bench, but the end product was missing.

Here are my pedictions for games scheduled tonight:

Can't wait for tonight game. It could be a very interesting match, but then again I thought that Roma - Lyon would have been a great match and it ended in a goalless draw. And that would be a good result tonight. I have great respect for the Roma squad, they are the only club (besides United and more or less PSV, well maybe even Bayern) that are playing in this stage of the competition while havin homegrown stars in their squads. I maybe exaggerating, and the reason for that could be me managing Roma in Championship Manager (CM 01/02 season I think) and realising potential of Alberto Aquilani and Danielle de Rossi some years ago. So, its obvious, the backbone of their squad is Totti, a homegrown player, then de Rossi, one generation younger midfielder, also homegrown, plus Mancini who was bought. And that's how things are to be done. You have a few good youngsters of your own, you give them a chance and you add some quality that is missing. That approach gives you a long lasting squad without the need of refreshment every season, maybe one player a season is enough, and that's how you can last for 10 - 15 years on top. I think United showed it. It's almost paintful to watch, for example Inter with their endless number of players that passed trough that club over last 7 -8 years. Who nows how many talented youngsters couldn't make it to the first squad because of that asshole (Moratti) and his desire for fast succes. If they even have a football academy, maybe they haven't even heard of such a thing. I know I haven't heard for a youngster being a Inter product? Anyway I hope ManUtd will win this one and pass trough to the semi's, and again to the title...
