Here is a first for bjork.com: A video premiere by another artist! Micachu & the Shapes have a new song Turn Me Well which is released 15th of September on RoughTradeRecords

For us MWC of bjork.com, who have actually a bit of an attention span, remember Björk talking about Micachu on NPR not so long ago when she said:
"I saw her in London, in June, a year ago and I was really excited about her. I thought it was that sort of 'do it yourself' approach, with all these little guitars and her attitude was really fresh… think it's really, really fun. (She)is a bit of a prankster really, isn't she?"
So when asked if this would be a possibility for Micachu it as a straight yes from Björk.

And now Micachu is playing the Icelandairwaves festival in Reykjavík in October, and the video being premiered on bjork.com? is there a connection? We like to think so!

Ladies and Gentlemen, we present to you: Turn Me Well by Micachu and The Shapes

[p.s. The "Turn Me Well" 7" is out October 5 in the UK, and Micachu's album Jewellery can be purchased at iTunes]

Björk announces a very special DVD/CD/VINYL recording, Voltaic  on June 23, 2009, world wide! And we also announce the Voltaic Special now!

Available in five different physical configurations, Voltaic is a lovingly packaged celebration of the past two years of Björk’s Volta activities—her critically praised sixth studio album, which came out in 2007, and the subsequent two-year world tour.

Nonesuch Records will release it in the US. One Little Indian in the UK and Universal for the rest of the world

Voltaic DVD 1 contains filmed highlights from the Volta tour, recorded in Paris and Reykjavik, with performances of songs from Volta as well as tracks from previous albums including Hunter, Joga, Army of Me, and Hyperballad.

Björk’s band on the Volta tour included Mark Bell (LFO) on computers and keyboards and Damian Taylor on keyboards and programming. Drums and percussion were played by Chris Corsano (Sonic Youth, etc.); Jónas Sen played piano, harpsichord, and church organ; and Björk’s all female Icelandic 10-piece brass section rounded out the group. A dynamic, grand live experience, the Volta tour has been acclaimed around the world. As the Guardian (UK) said in its five-star review, “Björk delivers a performance as visually spectacular as it is musically innovative. Fifteen years into her solo career Björk remains the least compromising and most fantastical pop superstar talent.”

Voltaic DVD 2
features all of the Volta music videos, including the “Declare Independence” clip directed by celebrated Oscar winning French director Michel Gondry; the “Wanderlust” video directed by encyclopedia pictura; and the “Earth Intruders” video directed by renowned French animator Michel Ocelot.

Voltaic CD 1 is a selection of songs from the Volta tour recorded live at the legendary Olympic Studios in London, just before Björk’s headlining show at the Glastonbury Festival in 2007. It was recorded in one afternoon, and the whole set was played live and captured in one take before being produced and mixed by Björk.

Voltaic CD 2 features key remixes from Volta, with versions of “Earth Intruders,” “Declare Independence,” “Innocence,” “Wanderlust,” and “Dull Flame of Desire,” by the likes of Simian Mobile Disco, Matthew Herbert, Graeme Sinden, Ghostigital, and Modeselektor.

And here for the special!

The Icelandic environmental documentary Nattura–Summer 2008 will be released exclusively on iTunes on March 10/ Today (One Little Indian) via an exclusive digital distribution partnership with E1 Entertainment Distribution U.S. The film focuses on the current environmental issues that face Iceland and includes interviews with Björk along with many other well-known Icelandic figures. All proceeds from the documentary will benefit the Nattura Campaign.

Directed by Charlie Lightening, Nattura–Summer 2008 focuses on the proposed plans to increase the use of aluminum smelters as a means to harness Iceland’s natural energy. As an alternative to these industrial practices, the documentary offers innovations and attempts to reinvigorate a larger discussion and debate on these key issues. In addition to Björk’s commentary, the film features interviews with well-known Icelandic politician and environmentalist, Ómar Ragnarsson, as well as Andri Snaer Magnason. Magnason is the author of the award-winning, best-selling book, Dreamland: Self-Help Manual for a Frightened Nation, which offers a detailed critique of the Icelandic government’s current energy-harnessing practices.

The documentary continues Björk’s close involvement with the Nattura Campaign, which was founded in an effort to generate alternative, sustainable and eco-friendly ways to utilize Iceland’s natural resources. In Björk’s own words, “It is now more important than ever before to emphasize a respect for nature…I believe that profits, technological advances and working together with nature can all go hand in hand. None need to be sacrificed at the expense of the others.”

For more information on the documentary and the Nattura Campaign please visit www.nattura.info or www.bjork.com.

The remastering and repressing of Debut get a storming review. The combination of digital and vinyl just makes our day here a bjork.com

"The  record, previously a single disc affair, has now been mastered over two  discs to run at 45rpm, the higher  sampling rate ensuring the highest  quality playback. It also allows the  mastering engineer to spread the  music widely over each side ofpeople who can take the thing apart  and put it back together.” HiFi World
