I missed my chance to see
Jill Sobule perform yesterday--6/11/06. I decided I'd take a pass at the two bus transfers and one train ride out from the suburbs. The gig was at 8 pm on a Sunday night in Chicago. (Not that I had to worry about getting up early for work today or anything; and the tickets were a fund-able $15.) Actually, the mode of transportation wasn't that much of an issue. So, what was the big deal?
Well, the name of the bar! The venue was a bar called Martyrs'. Forget about that I didn't have a date or that I don't drink! After finally making my way through a big chunk of Melody Beattie's book
Codependent No More I took it as a sign (not to ignore) that I should pass on the bar. I did really want to be there, so I guess that counts for something. I think I made a healthy choice. (I wonder if my therapist will think so?) I hope Jill and her audience had a good time. I ended up watching
15 Minutes and
The Four Feathers. For a late night snack I deconstructed an already-non-functioning Lexmark printer, scanner, copier combo thingie (technical term).

I'm glad I enjoy my own company!
