Common Market launches the music video for the single "Trouble Is" from their new album Tobacco Road (Massline/ Hyena) with an exclusive world premiere on mtvU on today, Wednesday September 24. The video will play on the mtvU network every hour for 24 hours starting at 6:00 am and will also be featured on mtvU.com. It was directed by the brilliant young director Zia Mohajerjasbi who also directed all three of Blue Scholars' recent videos.

Watch the video at mtvU.com at http://www.mtvu.com/music/video_premiere/common_market/

''Trouble Is'' tells the story of a vagrant farmer's hardship in a town where the locals call into question his intentions and work ethic. The video captures this tension with unmistakably rustin and southern imagery as the first scene opens with a fiery sermon delivered from the pulpit of a dusty Baptist church. The farmer, played by the emcee RA Scion, is aggressively pursued by a town mob, first driven out of town over distrust and distaste, then back again for the purpose of assimilation by force. The video takes a curious turn in the final scene, ultimately leaving the viewer in the position of the town-folk to question the farmer's motivation.

Catch the exclusive premiere of "Trouble Is" today on mtvU and mtvU.com. Check out the tracks from Common Market's "Tobacco Road" at www.imeem.com/commonmarket and www.MySpace.com/commonmarket.

"RA Scion and Sabzi form a lethal combination with Common Market. Don't call it a comeback but the duo's September release of Tobacco Road is an impressive followup to their self-titled full length of 2005. The record is laced with rich and rhythmic beats that'd make a fat white man move. RA Scion's lyrics surround the clash between big and small business, a strong influence on the title and overarching theme of the album. Grunge is dead and now some serious hip-hop is spawning out of Seattle." - Quiet Color

apologies in advance for the next week or so. updating is gonna be dificil!

NYC was off the chain. it's always difficult to do shows out here cuz there's way too many people to say hello to. we got in early in the morning, crashed out, then went out to say wassup to our homie Andrew at 3sixteen.

then went to the Foundation showroom to chop it up with Rhandy from In4mation and this dood Izza Kizza who "raps like Timbaland sounds." good folks.

then we hit the venue, met up with Dru Ha from the old Boot Camp videos. Duck Down was in full effect.

show went well. NYC holdin it down for us as usual.

we had this grand plan to show major photos from our NYC trip, but our homie Tone who does most of our photography got booked at the last minute to shoot GZA. i know right? why would you miss hangin out with us to do something lame like that….

=)

until next time!

as we drive north, the weather is getting a little cooler. still hella muggy, but cooler nonetheless.

up in Baltimore, i gotta chance to meet the originator of the Hip Hop Database. his name was Tyrone. he was breakin down the science of hip hop on the internet, websites, income from advertising, and the future of blogs and such.

he also surprised me when he basically said he was the Northeast's biggest Anticon fan. but then, after he explained Anticon's fanbase on the east coast, i suppose that's a title that isn't very difficult to claim without contest.

Baltimore was in full effect.

in attendance was also our illustrious Iranian-American homegirl who maintains the premier progressive hate blog in the DC area, HateOnMe.
