Oh yeah, it's here. The cold air nipping at your nose, trees turning
various shades of red, orange and yellow, the smell of the neighbors
wood stove... Halloween is right around the corner! Other than the
chill causing my arthritis to go bonkers -- this is my favourite time
of the year! I feel as crisp and excited as the air around me!

So, what are my plans? Well, I'll tell you...

I'm
feeling ever so cheery about my favourite season, so I'm having a
"Awesome Autumn Sale"! From now till November 2nd (my daughter's
birthday!), all of my dolls are $60. If you are interested in any of my
original artwork, they will be priced at "I'm getting and early start
at Christmas/Yule sales" prices.

How will they be priced? Well,
here's the thing. I've got this jar next to me. I'm going to pull out a
ticket with the price! In other words, you can get a STEAL! I will have
prices as low as $25 and as high as $200 for all pieces 11" x 14" and
above. Whatever price I offer you is the price for the piece. It will
NOT be the same price for everyone and you only get one draw! There's
not one single piece that I would normally sell for less than $250 --
so you can't fail to get a great deal!

Well, I've been busy!  With holiday shopping right around the corner, I've been trying to update each location that sells my work with new products, dolls, jewelry, artwork...  I've been SO busy!  Daniel's Flowers and Gifts now has new dolls, Signature Glass has a whole art and jewelry display throughout the store and I just dropped off seven pieces of work at a new juried gallery here in Windsor called Utata Gallery and Art Center.  I've been told that there's no doubt I'll get in all of my pieces in for the grand opening ceremony this weekend, but I'll hear for sure which pieces (hopefully all) they plan on showing on Friday.  They also want me to teach some classes on illustration -- and that is right up my alley.  I might even be convinced to teach some limited beading and basic doll making...  but I don't know yet. 

I had another piece accepted by KindTree Productions!  Aside from using my design as the poster for the Autism Artism 2008 art show, they are also using one of my newest watercolor paintings titled "Angel" for the 2008 Autism Rocks Holiday cards.  If you are interested in purchasing some fantastic original cards, top quality and benefitting the Autism Community, please visit http://www.KindTree.org.

Healthwise, I'm doing much better and I even joined a bowling league.  (Yeah, I know...  go ahead and laugh.  I roll the grandest gutterballs you've ever dodged out of the way of!)  It's something to do and I have already progressed to a top score of seventy-seven!  (Okay, my average is sixty -- but I'm a lovely handicap.)  So long as I beat my average every Friday night, I'm happy.

Okay, this is the THIRD time I'm going to post this, and it's going to be a heck of a lot shorter and sweeter because myspace keeps screwing me and losing my post.

BOY!!!

Okay, I WAS hoping for a girl...  mostly because I flooded the family with boys (except for my precious Brianna) and all the other children are boys...  and I was looking forward to maybe purchasing precious little girl dresses...  and some of those "my first heels"...

But that's okay.  I'll buy him his first tux, make him his first blankie, get him some awesome tennis shoes (or boots), and I'll ignore the fact that I can't stand the name my sister and Joey have chosen.  (Sorry Jo-Jo, I know it's a family name...  but I really really really don't like "Alonzo".)

Anyway...  I'm gonna be an Auntie!  I'm gonna be an Auntie!  Whoohoo!!!  I'm so excited!!!

Blah blah blah, last year found out I had cancer.  Had surgery for it last October.  Didn't work and they messed up.  I didn't know they'd ripped a hole in my uterus and destroyed parts of vital organs till things got bad, had another surgery and they found the 'oops'.  In that surgery, they confirmed the cancer again and said it was a HUGE tumor.  So I went to visit family before the big surgery for it on June 12th.  I had the surgery, things appeared to be going well, hysterectomy healing alright...  No!  Turns out they think the surgeon cut my intestines or something because next thing I knew, on the 28th of June I was in the hospital having an emergency surgery for the largest abscess the hospital had ever seen, and was informed I had been mere hours from death.  (Between the 12th and 28th I'd been to my GP, the surgeon and the ER THREE times.  Eventually it was meningitis that clued them off to my blood poisoning, completely failed liver, blocked intestines, and kidneys and such shutting down.  I was walking death and was stuck in the hospital for two weeks.

That's the short version, and as much as I can really deal with trying to explain in a silly blog.  There was a LOT more to things than that -- but there was just so much that happened that I can't even begin to try to explain it all.  I am just now really healing up physically and emotionally -- so please don't get upset if I don't rush out to email everyone.  I'm horrifically backed up!!!

I am now officially in remission and will be checked for cancer every four to six months for the next five years.  There doesn't appear to be anything more wrong with my useless organs than there was before everything went wrong -- but I did lose part of my liver and half my bladder.  (No, I don't need diapers.)

After all this, I have some really disgusting scars, a lot of stressful feelings, some extreme emotional garbage to work out -- and the discovery that I have the BEST FRIENDS and FAMILY that anyone could ever have.

...and right after all this, nearly losing my life and some of my precious little sanity left, I had the delight to find out that my sister after many years of hoping is PREGNANT!!!  So frankly, after losing my uterus to cancer, this couldn't be better news.  I can't wait to be an Auntie!!!  (March 09!)

...oh yeah, and I lost just under forty pounds.  *snicker*  I don't recommend the blood poisoning, cancer, seven pound tumor, meningitis, organ failure, almost death diet though.

Oh, and Kerry -- have I mentioned how much I love you and Trevor lately?  Just wondering.  *smooches!*  (See ya tomorrow!)

Okay -- this is going to be very short because I'm just too busy and stressed to explain it all, and frankly I know my children read this and if I haven't talked to them yet, I'm not going to throw everything out on the world wide web first.

I'm about to head back to the US and won't be reachable except by email from tomorrow (15th of May) till June 9th.  When I do check my email, it'll be sporatic at best.  For my friends in Bama, I will be there between the 15th and leaving early morning of the 29th.  If you want to see me, please contact me via email and leave me information on how to get in touch with you when I get there.  I will NOT have time to spend countless hours with friends -- so please understand that if I get to see you, it must be SHORT.  This trip is specifically planned to be with close family (my kids mostly).  It's nothing personal, but this trip is costing me a LOT of money that I don't really have, but emotionally it's GOT to happen or I can't deal with what's next.

The reason there is a fairly rushed trip is because I have been scheduled for major surgery on the 12th of June with pre-op and registration on the 10th, the day after I get back.  My mom is flying back from New Mexico to be here with me for it and it's going to be a very stressful time.  I should be in the hospital for three to five days (however the doctors told me to bet more on five to seven).  I've been told that in all, my surgery will require six to eighteen months to heal before I am able to travel or really get around smoothly again.  (I may feel better in a month, but I won't be "healed" for about six months is my understanding.)

So, wish me luck and I'll see who I can see -- and if you want to reach me please do so by email -- NOT myspace.  I just don't want people getting miffed at no response when I just won't be able to respond for at least a month or more.
