Hi, this is Luci here - one of the people who found Boxer almost 4 months ago. Boxer finally let me have the password so I could write a quick note while he's on the road.

With a sad eye and a happy eye we saw Boxer get in this super cool Portable Pet Home today. We will certainly miss him (Jarmo and Kater won't so much, I suspect) but we are incredibly happy that he has found such a loving and just plain perfect home with Megan and Tim. He couldn't be luckier.

And not only is he getting a permanent home, he even got a permanent name. But I'll let him tell you all about it.  Oh, yes, it turns out he will have Internet access upstate! We can't wait to read about his new adventures...

Inspired by our rescue cat we decided to have a myspace site of our own. So if any of you would like to stay in touch with Scott and Luci please become our friends at our Good Hard Working People myspace site.

Thank you all for your support in getting Boxer help, food and finally a fantastic home.

Luci and Scott.

OMG! It really did happen: I met the most wonderful humans who are going to let me move in with them and from now on rule their house.

I had met Tim before the holidays already and then those traveling humans I'm staying with now and Meghan could finally make arrangements and she came over last night. Of course, I played it all rather cool (if I remember correctly I actually fell asleep on Tim) but I gave Meghan a hand sniff and she smelled like good people.

Seriously guys, I'm thrilled! I'm going to be moving out of Brooklyn and upstate like all the hip cool cats. We'll be living in a converted school house in a two floor loft space. I'm sorry, does it get any cooler than that? They even have a yard and hardly any cars around.

They're coming to pick me up on Saturday. Honestly, I can't wait. Though all of last night I made muffins on Scott and Luci's bed to let them know that I appreciate everything they've done for me. Apparently they didn't appreciate it and kept pushing me off mumbling something about my purring and claws on comforter being louder than the N train rumbling by below. But I was persistent and finally got them to get up in the morning and let me out for a quick run in the yard.

Ahhhh, life... it couldn't be better. Who knew that it would all turn out so well.

Not sure if I'll have computer access upstate - never know how backwoods those Hudson Valley people are...

So if you don't read from me anymore... don't forget me... pet a cat... and thank you for all of your support.

So the humans are back from all their traveling.
And I can finally write again. Jeez, they really should have left me a computer here.

Anyway, I just wanted to spread the good news that I totally rule this house now. Yes, Jarmo has finally accepted me as the man in charge. I knew it was only a matter of time.

I also managed to finally convince the humans not to bother with that expensive diet food for old fuddy-duddies anymore and feed all of us the much yummier if not as health conscious grocery brand. All that health babble - totally overrated. You gotta enjoy life - and part of that just happens to be indulging in junk food. Don't you think? No?
Hmm... maybe I should start a whole food revolution... More junk food, less bad conscience, longer life! I'll work on that slogan.

Can you believe it? The humans are leaving me, Jarmo and Lynch Kater alone AGAIN. They were only home for a few days and now they're flying off to Florida.
This time I hear Erica is going to be taking care of us - though rumors has it that she just wants to watch Battlestar Galactica day in, day out.
Which might just keep her distracted enough while I bring Jarmo to complete submission. Kater may be big, but he wasn't much of a challenge.

Oh, and because both humans took their computers this may just be my last blog before the holidays. Some of you may know that I was raised Muslim, but that Christmas sounds like a heap of presents and special canned food... There's still a debate if you get more stuff if you're Jewish. Cats have it so good - not following an organized religion gives us the freedom to choose our holiday. So anywhich way you look at it: HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Secret Message: The next time I write I may have some great news about my future. Let's just say I met a special someone yesterday (of course I played it very cool and totally not needy). Nothing is final yet so I don't want to jinx anything.

Eat well,

Hello my feline friends and friends of felines!

The time has finally come: I'M LOOKING FOR A NEW HOME!

Apparently it's a little too crowded with three cats, two humans and constant visitors from Germany (suspicious).

Also it's become quite apparent that the people who I used to live with before my accident are unreliable, overwhelmed or just plain don't care to take me back. So after three months of smooching off Kater and Jarmo's humans it's time for me to move on and find my own place.

By now I'm totally better. All that's left is a little bit of a limp (which you might not even notice if you don't know) - but I can run around and jump and get into all kind's of trouble like the best of them. No need for any surgery, no damaged nerve, no nothing.

I'm a neutered boy-cat, about 3 years old. Energetic but snuggly. Well behaved. And I looooove "making muffins". Really the only catch is that I have a bit of a cat nip addiction. I don't have any diseases and if you can offer me a loving home, you WILL NOT get stuck with the remaining vet bill.

And I really am as beautiful as my pictures - no photoshop whatsoever.

How about it?

I'm in the process of a little overhaul and decided to put my old profile description in this blog - for preservation or something like that. :

"My name is Boxer (well, at least it is for now) and I currently live with Scott and Luci, who found me in their yard on September 16th in the middle of the night.
I couldn't really move and just hid in the corner of the yard - my days were pretty much numbered.

Because Scott and Luci are suckers they not only fed me but also took me to the vet. It turned out that sometime earlier that week I had been in an accident and broke my pelvis and scraped up my other back leg, which had gotten infected.

I don't have any diseases (I don't mix with the wrong crowds, if you know what I mean) and I'm terribly sweet (I get more food and love that way) and am blessed with very good looks (don't hate me).

Because of all that the humans suspect that I belong to someone in the neighborhood (Park Slope, Brooklyn) - but so far no one has responded to the flyers or online notices. It seems that me and the humans have some communications issues or I would explain the whole situation to them.

The doctors recommended surgery to re-align my pelvis but that's THOUSANDS of dollars. The alternative is for me to live in a box for 4 - 6 weeks - as immobilized as possible - for my pelvis to heal as good as it can on its own. So that's what I do right now - just "living in a box".

The next concern is that it looks (and feels) like that there is nerve damage in the leg with the broken pelvis. If that's the case, my leg will be amputated. I know, I know, that doesn't sound good at all. But it turns out that cats can do just fine on three legs. So maybe there's still surgery in my future.

All right, this is the deal though. Scott and Luci have this odd notion of being filmmakers and don't seem to be making much money with that (something about "starving artists" when clearly I could tell them a thing or two about the starving part). So to keep me fed (I love Friskies canned food and I liiiiiive for Pounce Tartar Treats) and dry (I can't use the litter box quite yet, but that's another story) and medicated and x-rayed... these humans need some help. If you could send me some money that would help me tremendously. So far I owe the doctors $700 and I can't even imagine what the potential surgery might cost.

Also, if you think you might want to adopt me, Jarmo and Lynch (the big ol' cats that already claim this apartment and yard with these humans) would be very much obliged I'm sure.

Last but not least, if you are a cat surgeon or know of someone, I could really use some free advice and maybe some work done...

Anyway, drop me a note, check out my blog.

Pet a cat (and don't make war or get a dog),

Current mood:  working
All kinds of strange things are going on around here.

First - Lynch Kater totally plays footsie, I mean tailsies with me. (I know he claims, the picture makes it pretty obvious by his expression that I started it. Hah, yeah right, you old snuggle puss!)

Then - I hear rumors that the humans are going out of town and are leaving us with a house/cat sitter: Jacqueline. Now, Jarmo and Kater claim she's a real sucker and will give me lots of treats and catnip. I'm not sure, I better practice my head-butt against the leg and the begging stare some more.

Oh, but the audacity that tops it all: Luci, the female human, started her own blog. I scream COPY CAT!!! She's so blatantly copying me - it's embarrassing. So far she's being all shy and not telling anyone. But I got her number and I'm spreading it all over town! Yeah!

Time to go make Scott give me some treats. He's been sitting on the editing computer all week finishing up their documentary "All God's Children".

You know if they're so busy with finishing up that film and preparing to work on another of their documentaries "Five Sisters" in Oklahoma City this week - how come Luci has time to copy me and start a blog, too, huh? Yeah, that's what I want to know.

Later, Boxer!

Current mood:  thankful
I know - it's a little bit after the fact. But the humans have been so incredibly busy with all their computers and laptops and whatnots - that I haven't had a chance to sneak in some Boxer Blogging time. Until now.

So I just wanted to let you know that I had a fabulous Thanksgiving. I know you were worried. I did some thanking for, you know, the whole rescue and and having 9 lives and all - and even a little bit for Kater & Jarmo sharing their human can openers with me.

But the highlight was clearly when Jeff Israel brought over a can of Thanksgiving Feast (cranberries and everything) for the boys and me. I'm not quite clear why I didn't get my own can.
But since Lynch Kater is such a priss I ended up eating his portion anyway (and he's all: Eeew, what do you mean? Stuffing? Cranberries? Aren't they tart?...)

So, yeah, Thanksgiving was cool - even though the humans and their friends stayed up all night being quite noisy. Of course, that was nothing compared to the Post-Thanksgiving Party they had a few nights later. But by then I was used to chilling at the other end of the pad. Just had to teach Kater and Jarmo that from now on I always pick where I lay down first and then they may arrange themselves around me.
Being the king of the house rocks.

What are you getting me for Christmas? Or Chanukah? Or Kwanzaa? Or whatever - I'm not picky.

Alright, it had to come out sooner or later...

The humans have allowed me to go into the backyard a few times.

Apparently they're all nervous because, you know, I got away from my last home, roamed the street and was hit by a car. So for the longest time they wouldn't let me into the yard at all. Which is totally unfair because that yard is perfectly fenced in without anything to jump on top of or squeeze through. Total AlCATraz.

So for a month and a half I was forced to sit inside on the windowsill and watch Kater and Jarmo frolic around in the colorful leaves! An outrage and disturbingly unfair. I suspect some serious favoritism.

But I worked on them and finally had them convinced that even I deserve some fresh wind blowing through my whiskers.

Of course, they still won't let me go outside by myself and constantly keep guard. Silly, really. Naturally they're not worried about the other cats - those cats barely manage to jump onto the couch. While I'm clearly more athletic and energetic (shall I add handsome?)

Anyway. So I've been exploring the yard on occasion (there really is no way out). But today I followed Jarmo's example and rolled onto my back on the stone patio and I rolled and I rolled. You have no idea how good that feels. Well, my feline readership, of course, knows what I'm talking about. But the significance that shouldn't be lost on anyone is that: I rolled on my back! Remember? I have a crushed pelvis? And now I'm rolling on my back...

Man, I'm clearly doing soooo well.

And I run way fast when I hear the treats bag rattling. I just kind of lift up the messed up leg and run on the other three. Which... what... ah, there it goes again: Pounce treats here I come...

Yum,

You might have jumped back in shock when you checked out my list of friends today. Maybe you thought it was a technical error. Maybe you wondered if it is a conspiracy. But it is true: I just added two dogs as my friends.
Hi Rebel and Mary!

Alright, so dogs are smelly, they are mind numbingly obedient to humans (hello - grow a spine, already), and they drool.
But I try to be open to all species, you know, not be all prejudiced like some cats.

In that spirit,
Go pet a dog today (just wash your hands afterwards)
