I really don't care that this is possible the lamest blog title in the history of blogdom - I'm so excited about my maxidress collection that Really Crap Catchphrases just feel so damn right!

A new one arrived in the post today, courtesy of eBay, of course, and not only have I got at least three wear-to destinations planned already, I put it straight on and am wearing it now - complete with new avocado stains from dinner. Oh well, that's what Sard soaker is for!

We've had fashion commentators hammering home the maxi dress for a few months now, and never has there been a trend that has required less industry salesman/womanship.

Unlike the perennial socks-with-heels story that we get shoved down our collective throats by images of gamine waifs in five inch stilettos teamed with chunky cable knit knee socks EVERY SINGLE YEAR, the maxi dress doesn't need to resort to photographic trickery, paid editorials, computer-generated special effects or anything else to convince women to wear it.

No style even comes close to it for sheer non-tarty sexiness and event apporopriateness. Wedding? No problem. Midnight in the rock pit? Easy. First date? Fine, just show a bit of back.

Here's the newest recruit to the Breeze Maxidress Racing Stable.... a 70's piece with original tags and the best back lacing ever!

And here's another vintage old faithful I adore....

I would also have added a pic of my favourite modern rainbow one, purchased from Dotti of all places, except that I just realised my nipple was showing - oops! So you get the NW press photo of the knee length version instead, but be assured that the maxi version is so much more glamorous - naturally!

And by the way - there's lots of fresh'n'pretty dresses instore at Breeze Vintage right now...

Humeur actuelle :Breathless - good times are coming!

What month is it again?...

If you're a fan of beer and bavarian blouses, the answer is probably "Pre-tober".

Yep, it's officially dirndl season. Although for the past little while it has seemed like every season is dirndl season, with the saucy strumpet frocks cropping up everywhere.

It's not just for bratwurst lovers any more, people - ever since SJP picnicked her way across SATC screens in her red laceup front number, dirndls and especially retro dirndls have been big news in vintage.

It makes sense in some ways - dirndls are invariably beautiful quality, fabulously embellished and have the happy knack of making streamlined bodies look curvy and generous bodies look voluptuous.

And I didn't even like the one Carrie wore to bask in the Central Park sunshine!

To my mind, it is far too "Oktoberfest Fucky-Fucky Available Here" with that silly little laceup bodice and the ridiculous puff sleeves.... it is just so unlike Ms Field not to put herself out there and find the best of the best that I am convinced she was having a mental health day when this scene was styled.

Can't you picture her yelling down her cell phone with an industrial sized box of tissues under her arm and snot streaming at some hapless assistant  "....A dirndl, dammit, a dirndl - you know, one of those German dress things with the embroidery!!!!" only to arrive back at work post-flu and become incandescent with rage at the horrifying, Disneyland Does Bavaria results?

But maybe you have a different view of the matter - I'd love to hear it if so.

Anyway, for those who know a fine dirndl when they see one, here is the obligatory slideshow with the many gorgeous vintage dirndls instore now and arriving soon at Breeze Vintage....

Humeur actuelle :Feelin’ good!
OK people, now's the time to be letting me know if you want to pre-order any of my crochet swimsuits for summertime in the Great Southern Land... and although I don't have pics yet, I'll also be offering them in sexy ruby red and dark chocolate colourways this season.

Personally, I will be ordering myself pairs in the classic style in yolk yellow...

.... and the laceup style in black:
