What month is it again?...
If you're a fan of beer and bavarian blouses, the answer is probably "Pre-tober".
Yep, it's officially dirndl season. Although for the past little while it has seemed like every season is dirndl season, with the saucy strumpet frocks cropping up everywhere.
It's not just for bratwurst lovers any more, people - ever since SJP picnicked her way across SATC screens in her red laceup front number, dirndls and especially retro dirndls have been big news in vintage.
It makes sense in some ways - dirndls are invariably beautiful quality, fabulously embellished and have the happy knack of making streamlined bodies look curvy and generous bodies look voluptuous.
And I didn't even like the one Carrie wore to bask in the Central Park sunshine!
To my mind, it is far too "Oktoberfest Fucky-Fucky Available Here" with that silly little laceup bodice and the ridiculous puff sleeves.... it is just so unlike Ms Field not to put herself out there and find the best of the best that I am convinced she was having a mental health day when this scene was styled.
Can't you picture her yelling down her cell phone with an industrial sized box of tissues under her arm and snot streaming at some hapless assistant "....A dirndl, dammit, a dirndl - you know, one of those German dress things with the embroidery!!!!" only to arrive back at work post-flu and become incandescent with rage at the horrifying, Disneyland Does Bavaria results?

But maybe you have a different view of the matter - I'd love to hear it if so.
Anyway, for those who know a fine dirndl when they see one, here is the obligatory slideshow with the many gorgeous vintage dirndls instore now and arriving soon at Breeze Vintage....
