I was getting my hair did yesterday, and was talking to the girl aboot friendship and how we all will drift in and out of different groups throughout our lives. Most of my friends, at least the ones from college, can be broken into too groups, essentially divide by the two bars we all congregated at- the Levittown Crue and the West Hempstead Crue. Anthony was always the head of the West Hempstead Crue.

I still check in on MySpace to keep  nabs on the  Nashville scene, but for the most part I've moved on to Facebook and Twitter.  You should be my friend there:

"Some friendships do not last, but some friends are more loyal than brothers."
- Proverbs 18:24

I'm thankful for God in heaven, who has blessed me with my sense of humour, creativity, and everything that you're aboot to read.

I'm thankful for my mom for all the reasons I'm always thankful for her.  Plus, she hasn't thrown me out yet.  Good on her for that.

I'm thankful for the Stattler to my Waldorf, the Cohen to my Scarborough, the Longo to my Serra, and the Nick Hex to my S.A. Martinez, who always bring the political debate, the A-material, and most importantly, the beer...lots and lots of beer.

I'm thankful for all the new additions to my family, with a special shout out to Uncle Chris, and for having a place within walking distance for football and all the drinking holidays.

I'm thankful for a boss that always thinks to fill the candy jar before she goes away, and a German who always shares her sandwich (and who finds it funny when I call her Mein Fuhrer).

I'm thankful for my Byters.

I'm thankful for the apple pie my mom has been getting for the past fifteen years, and the family that never forgets us that I don't think I've ever met.

I'm thankful for the "Observation Deck," which has just aboot influenced everything I've done since.  That's right; all of this is YOUR fault!

I'm thankful for all the friends I've kept in touch with through the years, and to the friends I've apparently touched throughout the years that they went to look for me on Facebook.

I'm thankful for strangers who invite other strangers into their home to share in what we call democracy, the service and sacrifice John McCain has given to this country, and that I live in a country where a black kid with a single mom and a funny name can one day be President of the United States.  More importantly than any of that, I'm thankful that the damn election is finally over.

I'm thankful for Hotair.com, because if not for trackbacks I'd have no one visiting my blog.

I'm thankful that I may have found my new Concerts, even though Phyllis would plotz if she knew they were all Republicans.

I'm thankful for Taylor Swift in the morning, Explosions in the Sky in the afternoon, and Coheed and Cambria on the ride home.

I'm thankful for rediscovering the joy of reading and the boss new bookcase George Bush and Nancy Pelosi bought me to house all my books.  They also got me new office furniture as well.  They rock.

I'm thankful for the gang on "Morning Joe," the all stars on "Special Report with Brit Hume," and the panel on "Lou Dobbs Tonight."

I'm thankful for having known (in a way) Tim Russert.

I'm thankful for anyone I've shared a cup of coffee with.

I'm thankful for country music and mixed martial arts.

I'm thankful for all that I may have forgot, that I won't remember until after I click the "post" or "send" buttons.

Finally, I'm thankful for everyone reading this right now, who in one way or another, no matter for how long or how short, have been a part of my life over the past year and given me reason to pause and give thanks.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Country Muzik Monday: Matt Ramsey
When I have the time where I'll go to the MySpace page of an artist I like, click the page of one of their friends, and then keep doing that to look for new music. In doing this, I've managed to come across a few great unsigned Nashville artists. One of them is a singer/songwriter named Matt Ramsey.

Liddell vs. Couture: A New Hope
Mind you the rumour is coming from the British tabloids, but the story is that Liddell would move up to heavyweight to fight Couture when the UFC debuts in Germany in the summer. The winner would then wrestle for the heavyweight title. As for the rumoured Liddell vs. Anderson Silva fight in February, that's rumoured to be Silva vs. one of four light heavyweight - Forrest Griffin, Quinton Jackson, Rashad Evans, or Wanderlei Silva - depending on who loses at UFC92.

Ed Hardy Sucks
To make a few extra sheckles, I used to work at one of them trendy hipster clothing stores in the mall. While surrounded by all that couture, I one day made the declaration that there comes a time in every man's life where he has decide if he's going to be graphic tees guy or a polo guy. It was that day I decided I was going to be a graphic tees guy. They were cooler and edgier; polo's were for frat boys and date rapists.

Three thoughts from the liquor store
It seems odd that you would ask someone you've never met before if you'd like something or not, but if you're an old lady who mixes her vodka with V8 juice, maybe it's not so odd for you. Did I mention she smelled like moth balls?

Review: "Do the Right Thing" by Mike Huckabee
In "Do the Right Thing: Inside the Movement That's Bringing Common Sense Back to America," Mike Huckabee opens up aboot his life as a pizza delivery boy in Brooklyn amidst the racial turmoil of the late 1980's. Actually, that's not true, but Gov. Huckabee had to know what he was in for when he named his book after a Spike Lee movie. No, "Do the Right Thing…" was mainly aboot Huckabee's 2008 campaign for president and I have to say, homeboy sure sounds bitter.

Someone's in the kitchen with Obama
Since the election there's been some concern (at least from those of us on the lower taxes/brutalize criminals* side of the isle) as to what kind of President BAM** is going to be. Will he govern center-left like he claimed during his campaign, or far-left like before he ran for President? Inquiring minds want to know. Actually, a lot of them stopped paying attention after Election Day…but I want to know!

Another blog on Bobby Jindal and 2012
Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal travel all the way to Iowa last night to keynote a fundraising dinner for the Iowa Family Policy Center's "Celebrating the Family" banquet. Of course since a politician is going to Iowa that has to mean he's running for president, right? I mean it has too. There's no reason for anyone to go to Iowa unless they're running for president.

"I've always believed that America offers opportunities to all who have the industry and will to seize it. Senator Obama believes that too, but we both recognize that we have come a long way from the injustices that once stained our nations reputation and denied some Americans the full blessings of citizenship. A century ago, President Theodore Roosevelt's invitation of Booker T. Washington to dine at the White House was taken as an outrage in many quarters. America today is a world away from the cruel bigotry of that time. There is no better evidence of this than the election of an African-American to the presidency of the United States."

Tomorrow I go back to being a Republican.

Today I'm simply proud to be an American.

May God bless our new President.

As you may or may not have noticed (what with the lack of updates), PCLIVE! has gone on hiatus for the time being. Mark has taken sabbatical and was last seen in the mountains of Peru contemplating live, the universe, and everything.

As for me, I'm back to blogging...hence the reason for this e-mail. www.johnbrodigan.com. Yeah, I know. That's a wicked creative title!

Either way, visit it frequently.

"When, after having heard the explosion from their practice facility, they ran into the fire to help get people out. Ran into the fire. The streets of heaven are too crowded with angels tonight. They're our students and our teachers and our parents and our friends. The streets of heaven are too crowded with angels, but every time we think we have measured our capacity to meet a challenge, we look up and we're reminded that that capacity may well be limitless. this is a time for American heroes. We will do what is hard We will achieve what is great. This is a time for American heroes and we reach for the stars. God bless their memory, God bless you and God bless the United State of America."
-President Bartlet, "The West Wing (2002)"

Your lyric of the week...

All this talk of getting old. It's getting me down my love. Like a cat in a bag, waiting to drown. This time I'm comin' down, and I hope you're thinking of me as you lay down on your side. Now the drugs don't work. They just make you worse, but I know I'll see your face again

A video, cause the Kevin Smith countdown has begun...

And just because it cracked me up...

Rumoured Vice Presidential candidates get asked all the time in ten different ways if it's going to be them, even though you'd have to be a total maroon to think you're going to get an answer. Just once I'd like to see someone say "Yes," and then while the reporter looks on in shock that he got a scoop, say "Nah, I'm just fucking with you."

It took someone who didn't see the movie to make me realize, but the more I think aboot it "Tropic Thunder" was pretty damn funny. Plus it comes highly recommend by Hurricane Doyle. What more do you need?

Your assignment for the day is to find a video of The Jokers "fatality" from the new DC Comics vs. Mortal Kombat game.

They say I need some Rogaine to put in my hair. Work it out at the gym to fit my underwear. Oakley makes the shades to transform a tool. You'd hate for the kids to think that you've lost your cool. I'mma do the things that I wanna do. I ain't got a thing to prove to you. I'll eat my candy with the pork and beans. Excuse my manners if I make a scene.

Is there anyone during the day that's nicer to deal with then the UPS guy?

My iPod was severely lacking in Kiss, so I rectified that by downloading aboot 50 songs or so. And get this - I even did it legally!

Relative to what I said a few days ago aboot how everytime Bill Clinton opens his mouth it's to campaign for 2012, let me know what you make of this quote of his from yesterday and who or what he could possibly be alluding to?

"Suppose you're a voter, and you've got candidate X and candidate Y. Candidate X agrees with you on everything, but you don't think that candidate can deliver on anything at all. Candidate Y you agree with on about half the issues, but he can deliver. Which candidate are you going to vote for?"

It's the DNC Convention...shouldn't Bruce Springsteen be opening for Barack Obama and not the other way around?

Memo to self: when you post a blog aboot girl-on-girl kissing, don't read any of the comments while you're still at work. Thanks Lee. And, um...thanks Lee!

Apparently T-Bell is the new cool way to say Taco Bell. Think of all the seconds of your life you can save by not saying "aco."

Today is a winding road that's taking me to places that I didn't want to go. Today in the blink of an eye I'm holding on to something and I do not know why. I tried. I tried to read between the lines. I tried to look in your eyes. I want a simple explanation for what I'm feeling inside. I gotta find a way out. Your voice was the soundtrack of my summer. Do you know you're unlike any other?

Protesters make me giggle.

I'm just a dude playing a dude disguised as another dude.

There were a few people surprised that I said something nice aboot Teddy Kennedy yesterday, what with me having an (R-NY) after my last name. I say two things to that:

1. I don't care how many things I disagree with you on, as long as the one thing we do agree on is how much we love our country, that's the only thing that matters.

2. Take politics out of the equation and just look at the history. Ted Kennedy, besides serving the country for the past five decades, had been heir to the Kennedy legacy that has unfortunately give us two of our nations greatest tragedies. And while I know there are 217 grandkids, nieces, nephews, and cousins who have the word "Kennedy" in their name somewhere...when Teddy passes a major part of our history goes with him.

At least, unlike his brothers, he has an opportunity to say good bye.
