These sessions of the Uta Hagen Process: the Ten Object Exercises, which investigate the Moment to Moment Thoughts/Actions of the Character. We look at what we Do to each other: attack, surrender, invite, dismiss, seduce, ignore, provoke, comfort. Frank Eberling's Filmmaking Class

REAL-TO-REEL IN REAL-TIME project, making the feature film, TURKLES. Admission is $15 per class MEETING ON THURSDAY NIGHTS at the Burt Reynolds Museum.

To Register, please email info@BRIFT.org

If you have qustions and/or would like to read a script, please e-mail Frank at
palmbeachfilmgrp@aol.com.

In the SUBJECT LINE, please put: R2RRT - PDF TURKLES SCRIPT

Below is the production schedule whereby everyone who attends will learn how to make a film before, during, and after the filming, and will participate in all the activities.

Recently, a church congregation in South Georgia participated in a similar business model, and a group of inexperienced filmmakers made the feature film, FIREPROOF, which as of January, 2009, had earned $34 million at the box office. This is before going to DVD. Will TURKLES match this success? Probably not, but our goal is to make enough profit to move on to FEATURE PROJECT #2 and assure that everyone is paid for their efforts and enjoy some profit-sharing.

Please join us in this effort if you can. It is not necessary that you attend all evenings, but we need your skills and your enthusiasm to make this happen.

PRODUCTION SCHEDULE - "REAL TO REEL IN REAL- TIME"
Producing a feature film in real-time

STARTING 7:00 THURSDAY NIGHTS, APRIL 2, 2009

In this new, ongoing Thursday night class, with the generous support of the BURT REYNOLDS INSTITUTE FOR FILM AND THEATRE, filmmaker Frank Eberling will lead filmmakers through the process of making a feature film from start to finish, in real-time.

Through use of original written material, students will see how a script evolves from the written page to the final product on-screen, as seen through the eyes of the director, during preparation of a one-camera, “film-style” shoot, on-location. Students will serve as production personnel during all phases of this unique, hands-on learning experience.

The finished film will then be taken to the marketplace, using 21st Century marketing techniques, and students will share in equity ownership, based on the number of hours they put into the production.

We need people of every skill level, from filmmakers, laborers, cooks, kid wranglers, business types, accountants, legal staff, administrative, phone solicitors for distribution, etc. We need everyone! If you’ve ever run a business or worked in a business, we need you!

Come join us as we defy the laws of gravity, physics, probability, and plain common sense! Be a witness to history!

Burt Reynolds movies, sports on cheerful parade

MARCH TO MIAMI WITH DAVE HOEKSTRA

JUPITER, Fla. -- The Burt Reynolds & Friends Museum calls itself the largest celebrity museum in Florida. And considering that the Sunshine State is home to the grandiose tastes of Gloria Estefan, Jennifer Lopez and Jackie Gleason, that's something.

But Burt's museum -- in a former bank off the Intracoastal Waterway in Jupiter, about an hour north of Fort Lauderdale -- is an imperative stop for any road trip to Super Bowl XLI. Not only is Burt a movie star, he's nearly a sports figure, as well.

Burt played football for the Florida State Seminoles. He starred in the classic 1970s football films "The Longest Yard" and "Semi-Tough."

He was also featured in "Deliverance," shot in the Okefenokee Swamp on the border between Georgia and Florida. We drove by the swamp a few days ago. We drove fast.

B.R. and the Bears
The son of an Army brat, Burt was born in Waycross, Ga., but settled in Florida at age 7. He still maintains a home in Hope Sound, outside of Jupiter. He comes by his museum now and then, but volunteer coordinator Jo Renkert said lately he has been under the weather. Burt turns 71 on Feb. 11.

The museum opened in 1988 in a small, cracker-style building on U.S. 1 in Jupiter. It moved to its present location in 2002. The not-for-profit museum is operated by a volunteer staff, and Burt is not officially connected with the endeavor.

But plenty of his stuff is.

The museum has a couple of thousand items about Burt, or "B.R.," as locals call him. You can see Burt's boots from "Smokey and the Bandit" (which co-starred Gleason) and shocking blue boots from "Striptease." There's the canoe from "Deliverance" and a football helmet from "The Longest Yard."

The hallowed halls are elegant in an un-Burt way, accented by long gold chandeliers and soothing shades of mauve.

Football, you bet
The sports angle at the museum is not understated. Miami Dolphins owner Wayne Huizenga donated an autographed football helmet, and former Oakland Raiders receiver Fred Biletnikoff gave the museum his last jar of Firm Grip stickum. An autographed picture from Muhammad Ali states, "Enjoy life, it's later than you think." Former Dolphins quarterback Bob Griese visited the museum last week. He is the father of Bears quarterback Brian Griese.

After reading inscriptions from hundreds of Burt's celebrity friends, it is clear he is a fun guy. A 1983 autographed picture from Frank Sinatra says, "Dear Burt, why don't you cheer up and have a good time?" Former New York Yankees manager Billy Martin signed a picture, "To Burt, the only guy who will fight quicker than me -- and damn near as good."

Jane Fonda writes, "To Burt, I wish I knew you better." There are also pictures of Bette Davis, Mae West and Dinah Shore. In the "Striptease" section of the museum, his co-star Demi Moore writes, "Burt, whatever it takes I'm going to get you!"

BurtHeads could spend an entire weekend in Jupiter. Not far from the museum is Burt Reynolds Park, replete with easy-access boat ramp facilities.

Burt has encouraged Hollywood to utilize South Florida as the setting for more films. According to the museum, his "B.L. Stryker" TV series brought more film dollars ($48 million) to Palm Beach County than any other film or series shot in the county.

Frog Prince

is grandmother was Cherokee and his mother is Italian. That, he says, is why one-half of him wants to grow hair and the other doesn't. The Indian side got overexposed in more routine movies and TV shows than he cares to remember. His face, at least, was memorable—a rubber stamp for Marlon Brando's. But his name did not become a household word until last spring, when he posed in the hirsute buff for Cosmopolitan magazine. Now, unliberated housewives shamelessly tape Burt Reynolds' sinewy centerfold to their refrigerators the way their hubbies paper tool sheds with "Playmate" pullouts.

Burt Reynolds' rise has come from unveiling more than his anatomy. Until two years ago, he says, "I was the tight, constipated actor. I just stood there with my No. 3 virile look and never took chances." Then he drew a guest spot on the Johnny Carson show and revealed an unexpected penchant for putdowns, mostly of himself ("My movies were the kind they show in prisons and airplanes, because nobody can leave"). After that, Reynolds was invited to air his gift of glib on a flock of other talk shows and comedy hours. After seeing him on the tube, Director John Boorman asked him to read for a leading part in the movie version of James Dickey's Deliverance. Boorman found his "power and vulnerability" perfect.

The movie was Reynolds' own deliverance. Overnight he became the Frog Prince of Hollywood. He made two more pictures in breathless succession, Fuzz and the forthcoming Shamus. Last week he was on location in Little Rock, Ark., shooting McKlusky with Director Joe Sargent. Sargent admires Reynolds' "ballsiness and talent" and says, "He has the same kind of craft as McQueen and Newman."

Being liked and respected is a new experience for Reynolds. "I was like Lewis in Deliverance" he says. "I did anything physical to get attention." That included party pranks like jumping into swimming pools from third-story windows as well as being pushed out of windows as a professional stunt-man on live TV. Once he angrily threw an assistant director at Universal into a river.

Reynolds' trail of trouble extends all the way back to Waycross, Ga., where he was born 36 years ago. He was raised in Palm Beach, Fla., where his father was the town's police chief—a former cowboy who believed in "fanning Burl's rompers till he knew what was wrong." To Burt he seemed a stern, inflexible hulk. After briefly running away from home when he was 14, Burt channeled his belligerence into athletics and won a football scholarship to Florida State. When a knee injury and a car accident aborted his athletic career, he drifted into college dramatics, then dropped out of school in 1955 to take a crack at the New York theater. A few TV tidbits, supplemented by washing dishes at Schrafft's and bouncing drunks at Roseland, kept him afloat for two years until he won the part of Mannion in a revival of Mister Roberts. That, and a contract with Universal, propelled him into twelve years of lucrative mediocrity: "I was a well-known unknown."

Along the way, he married British Pixy Judy Carne, who later became Laugh-In's "Sock It to Me" girl. She apparently got a lot of preparation for taking lumps before she and Burt split in 1965: "It was a wild trip, our marriage. The hostility got so out of hand that one day I bought him a punching bag."

Nowadays Reynolds spends much of his spare time in Florida on the 160-acre ranch that his father, newly reconciled, runs for him. "I feel like the Marlboro man there," he says. But increasingly the Marlboro man is being lured back to Hollywood to woo the Perle Mesta of the Bel Air set, Dinah Shore. It all began when Dinah, 19 years his senior, had Burt on her show last summer. Oscar Levant once said he couldn't watch Dinah because he had diabetes. But, as Dinah tells it, the show she did with Burt would have been X-rated if it had run as taped. "I'm not that sweet," she says.

With Dinah and Deliverance, Reynolds hardly needs any more boosts. But his Cosmopolitan caper has given him a taste for prankish self-promotion. This fall he will appear on the cover of Esquire—in the raw again, but cropped above the waist. Burt will be looking down at himself, his mouth agape with disbelief. A headline asks: THE IMPOTENCE BOOM: HAS IT HIT YOU YET?

Maltz Jupiter Theatre and Burt Reynolds and Friends Museum Form Partnership To Present "The Life Of Reilly"

Life of Charles Nelson Reilly Portrayed on the Big Screen in Fundraising Event

(Jupiter, FL) October 10, 2007 - If, in 1940, you had a lobotomized aunt, an institutionalized father, a racist mother, and were the only gay kid on the block, what do you think the odds would be that you'd end up a Tony winner, a staple of television, and a generational icon?

Enter The Life Of Reilly, an adaptation of Charles Nelson Reilly's acclaimed one-man show made for the big screen during Mr. Reilly's final two performances of his play in North Hollywood, California. Mr. Reilly also made his mark in Jupiter in the 1970's and 1980's when he was a regular director and performer at the theatre when Burt Reynolds owned it. To commemorate his significant cultural impact the Maltz Jupiter Theatre and the Burt Reynolds and Friends Museum have partnered to present the critically acclaimed documentary film The Life Of Reilly on Sunday, November 11 at 7 pm to benefit the Museum.

"Presenting the Life Of Reilly in partnership with the museum will be a great way to celebrate Mr. Reilly's amazing life as well as support the many contributions Mr. Reilly and Burt Reynolds had in this community," said Andrew Kato, Artistic Director of the Maltz Jupiter Theatre.

Charles Nelson Reilly coined the phrase "the miracle at the truck stop" when the theatre first opened in 1979. He affected and inspired many young actors' lives through his Burt Reynolds Institute of Theater Training (BRITT) Master Classes at the theatre. His legacy continues today at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre and Burt Reynolds and Friends Museum where Mr. Reilly's acting methods are often taught by many instructors who are alumni of BRITT.

Reilly, an actor famous for his double entendres on '70s game shows and lesser known for Tony Awards on Broadway stages, performed his one man show "Save It For The Stage: The Life Of Reilly" for the last time in October of 2004. This film, The Life Of Reilly, is an adaptation for the screen of that performance.

The film takes us through this man's strange, tragic, and hilarious life, from his birth in a humble neighborhood of the Bronx to his retirement in his posh Beverly Hills abode. Success came to Charles' professional life, and he has used all the knowledge and expertise he has gained through a lifetime spent acting to teach. His longtime friend Burt Reynolds gifted him the Jupiter Theatre in which to teach the craft of acting, and it has fulfilled Charles ever since. As we leave him in what he calls "The twilight of an extraordinary life", we see a portrait of an artist, a victim of prejudice who rose above it, a trailblazing comedic personality, an entertainer, a son, a teacher, and a man laid bare for all to see. And the old pro makes us laugh raucously through the entire journey.

"With the support and cooperation of the Maltz Jupiter Theatre the museum is establishing a collection of Mr. Reilly's memorabilia and cultural contributions to the Jupiter area. Anyone who would like to donate an item to this collection, please contact the museum. We are pleased to come together with the Maltz Jupiter Theatre to host this benefit in honor of our dear friend," said Mike Daniel, Executive Director of the Burt Reynolds and Friends Museum.

The Life of Reilly, is a L'Orange Film, made in association with Civilian Pictures. It is a Reel Diva Consultants release, directed by Frank Anderson and Barry Polterman, produced by Bob Fagan and Wrye Martine and written by Charles Nelson Reilly and Paul Linke.

Tickets for the special benefit screening at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre are $25 for VIP seats and reception at the Burt Reynolds and Friends Museum and $15 for the movie screening only. Proceeds will benefit the Burt Reynolds and Friends Museum. Tickets are available at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre Box Office, online at www.jupitertheatre.org or by phone 561-575-2223 or 800-445-1666.
