(My Original Blog Post: http://socialwebtools.info/2008/11/17/avoid-talking-go-straight-to-voicemail-with-slydial-review/)
Slydial is a service that I've been looking for & wanting for quite awhile now. It's a FREE voice messaging service that allows you to call someone & go straight to their voicemail without having to talk to them at all. Slydial is one of the most clever yet sneaky services I've come across in awhile & it's definitely something that I can benefit from & can see myself using on a regular basis.I know I'm a weird case but I don't like talking on the phone at all, except to a select few & I especially don't like calling people. Slydial can now change all that though. Of course, Slydial can be used for various other reasons as well such as if you're short on time, if you just don't want to bother someone or maybe just want to avoid an awkward conversation.Slydial really is sly. You don't have to worry about the person you're calling picking up because Slydial calls can not be answered.
"In most cases the person you're slydialing simply receives a new voicemail alert a minute or so after you leave them a message. With some mobile phones, we are able to display a "missed call" from you (after all you did try to call them!). With this feature, the recipient's phone may emit an abbreviated "half ring" before going directly to voicemail."
Another sly feature is that any call made via Slydial will how your phone number & info. So, if you call from 860-636-9999, then it will show on the persons' phone as that along with the date & time you made the call.Best of all, there is no registration required to use Slydial. All you have to do is dial 267-SLY-DIAL (267-759-3425) from any landline or mobile phone & you're ready to go. You will then be prompted to enter the U.S. mobile phone number of the person you'd like to leave a message for.Though registration is not required, it would benefit you to join so that you can have access to the more advanced features of Slydia. You can join MYslydial for FREE of course.Slydial even has an app for the Blackberry, Windows Mobile & the iPhone. These apps allow you to even more easily call & leave a voicemail for any of your contacts that have a U.S. mobile number, with the touch of a button.So, I'm dying to know, is Slydial a service that you would/will use or at least try out? Do you think it's useful or just a cop out? Remember, not everyone likes talking on phones![tags]voicemail, voice messaging, slydial, free calls, myslydial, iphone, blackberry, windows mobile[/tags]

This is a Guest Blog Post by Kelly.

There’s a reason I prefer Firefox over Internet Explorer or any other browser, well, besides the fact that it’s more user-friendly and less bulky – the cool third party extensions that make browsing the web a truly satisfactory experience. There are tons of addons and plugins available for all the browsers out there, and picking the best ones is a chore that’s not easy, especially when my idea of good may equate to your idea of mediocre; but I’ve tried to come up with a list of five extensions that are bound to be useful if you’re a regular user of the Internet, like me:

.. -->more-->

.. -->[if !supportLists]-->· .. -->[endif]-->Snap Links: Are you one of those people whose desktop is always cluttered with more than 10 tabs (this is one reason I switched over to Firefox from IE – the convenience of tabbed browsing was offered by the former long before the latter even thought of it)? If so, this extension is a must for your arsenal of web tools. Snap Links allows you to draw a virtual box around all the links that a search engine throws up and open them all in different tabs. Saves you the trouble of having to right click on each of them to open them in various tabs. [ Get it here ]

.. -->[if !supportLists]-->· .. -->[endif]-->Foxy Tunes: Love to work with the music on but tired of having to switch between your browser windows, programming tool and music player? This extension lets you play music and control your player from within your Firefox browser so you save yourself a lot of time. [ Get it here ]

.. -->[if !supportLists]-->· .. -->[endif]-->Reminder Fox: Absent minded and always in front of your computer? This cool add on allows you to create to-do lists and set reminders with alarms that ring at the right time. Now you can work in peace without having to worry about that pot you left cooking on the stove. [ Get it here ]

.. -->[if !supportLists]-->· .. -->[endif]-->Answers: A good addon if you’re forever searching the archives of your memory for meanings for a particular word, Answers offers you a few explanations when you click a link while simultaneously pressing down the ALT key. [ Get it here ]

.. -->[if !supportLists]-->· .. -->[endif]-->Tab Scope: Another must-have for those aficionados of multiple tab browsing, this extension allows you to move your mouse on top of a tab window and view a preview of the page in question. Not only are you allowed a peek into the page without having to shift between tabs, but you’re also able to click on links within the page. [ Get it here ]

Jaiku Theme For TwitterRestyles Twitter pages to look like Jaiku's bubble theme. A much better look in my opinion.Psst, did you find this tool useful? If so, please subscribe by email or RSS for future social web 2.0 tool updates.
