Current mood:  bouncy
Category: Travel and Places

Travelling for business requires so much preparation and planning. Most of it, what to wear for different days and occassions and activities. Different shoes for different outfits and I have to pick the most comfortable ones if ever my colleagues decide to take a walk from Gate 1 to Gate 65 of airport terminals. Preparing for a 7day trip and not having a return flight schedule is not very promising if I'm really going home after 7 days so I have to bring extras to wear and maybe brin something different if ever I get to be sent out to different location where the weather can be tropical or maybe closer to Northern Hemisphere that I need to bundle up. However annoying the preparation is, the anticipation is so high of what will come ahead on this trip. Meeting new people and making new friends while developing them how to become whole in their line of job.

So, now I'm in Detroit, Michigan. It's 12:18am and still working with the contractors to install the speakers at one of my workplace location. Who knows what time they will be done but I have to get this project done ASAP. The idea of staying up very late is very compatible with my body clock but an agony if I have to come back here at 5am to start working.

The people here seems like extra nice. I stay at the Sheraton Hotel, been eating salmon fish every night for dinner. There are actually lots of options at the menu: salmon salad, salmon with fettuccini, steak salmon, baked salmon and fried salmon. Everything else are soup of the day, cheese fries and some choices of dessert such as cakes, sweets and pies:) True deviant of my semi organic diet and semi vegan food preference...

The city's pretty depress. Lots of unemployed and the public transportation has been reduced due to limited financial budget of the city. I heard the city mayor just got jailed for something. I'm pretty good catching this kind of information but with Hurricanes, wars and going down of stock market, everything else is just ordinary. Events such as like this is not sensational anymore.  I came from a city that wherever you go, everything is accessible with taxis, public transportation so it's easy to get around. By walk, train, bus, trolley, taxis, bicycle, rollerblades and most importantly friends who can drive me around:)

So, business travel can be so much fun that you just don't know what's waiting ahead of you. Interesting places and interesting people makes my business travel interesting.

I travel with books. I brought 2 books with me, The Women who Negotiates and the Best in Interview. I'm almost done with the later.

I call my love ones every now and then to catch up with them and also to let them know that I still exist. It matters to me that they know that even though I'm hundreds of thousands of miles away, they are in my thoughts and I am safe. My mom always ask me if I'm happy so I consider that as a reality check. My mom would always put me in a place that I make sure whatever decision I make, it will make me happy. Travels and earthly possessions are not as important as having a relationship with love and respect.
