We’d like to thank everyone who came to see our homecoming gig at The Wardrobe a few weeks back. What an amazing night! We’ve seen many a great band play the famous downstairs venue, but we’ve never seen it so full!! We hope you all enjoyed the show and thanks to everyone who gave us great feedback on our new live sound.

There’s certainly no doubt…Chichino are still Britain ’s grooviest band!!

For those of you who want to re-live the night, or for those of you that couldn’t make it and would like to hear our new sound, we’re back in Leeds on Friday 10 April (Good Friday) at The Elbow Room. This is already shaping up to be a massive event for us and we’d love to see you all there. Admission is FREE with a ticket or via a guestlist place. Please contact your favourite Chichino member for a ticket or to be added to our guestlist. We’re on stage at 8:30 prompt, so you can catch your favourite band and still have plenty of time to paint the town afterwards!!

We now have a fantastic range of merchandise, including “Are you ready to funk me?” tee-shirts, A3 posters and badges. The tees are especially fabulous and come in all sizes and bright colours, and there are also girls skinny tees in various colours. Please check out our website and myspace for details. Tees are £10 and signed A3 posters are £1. Postage is free!! Please reply to this email or to info@chichino.com with any orders or enquiries.

To celebrate our new gear, we’re holding a special prize draw for our newsletter recipients! To enter this competition, to win a Chichino goody bag (including tee-shirt, poster and special promo CD) please respond to this email or to info@chichino.com with the heading CHICHINO COMP ENTRY by the end of March. The winner will be notified soon after via email.

There’s plenty happening in our world lately with a number of gigs, events and radio appearances (including radio shows in Canterbury , London , Essex and Sheffield to name but a few). For our Leeds based fans, we have another notable one in the shape of East Leeds FM’s “ELFMathon” on 4 & 5 April. This is a special 24 hour live broadcast and we will feature in a live slot. Although actual timings have yet to be confirmed, we can announce that we will be performing on air on Saturday evening 4 April, after 8pm, but please check our site www.myspace.com/chichino1for exact details.

Thursday 19 March sees us at Rehab in the centre of Harrogate and on Thursday 26 March, we return to London to play Fiddler8 0s Elbow in Camden . We are putting on transport for these gigs, so please contact us for a seat.

Now that the album is complete, it seems that everyone is already talking about Chichino and we’ve been approached by numerous radio stations across the UK for interviews and performances (as well as those mentioned above). We’ll try and keep you as up to date as possible, but please refer to our web world for up to date information…..you wouldn’t want to miss out on special acoustic shows and daft Chichino chit chat now would you!?

Our homecoming gig is almost upon us! Saturday 21 February sees us play our first proper gig in Leeds in absolutely ages. If you don’t already know about it…where have you been!? We hope you can make it to The Wardrobe on this date to catch our next Soul Party. The fun starts at 8pm, with a DJ set of funk/soul/house from DJNK, at around 9:45pm you will be treated to a fabulous live set from Sheffield ’s finest psychedelic blues band, in the shape of Mojo & the Beatniks and then straight afterwards, there will be the Chichino live set! We promise a new dimension to our sound (don’t forget that on stage we are now a 5 piece) and some new tracks as well as old favourites. We’re sure you’ll love it!! There will be free giveaways on the night and brand new “Are you ready to funk me?” t-shirts…and admission is FREE!!!

We have had loads of press and media coverage centred around the gig, including our live appearance on BBC Radio’s Leeds United Unplugged, a delightful feature in the free local lifestyle magazine H2B Journal, an interview on Leeds Music Scene webzine and a feature in The Music Guru, amongst others. Our Wardrobe gig has also been chosen by BBC Radio's Raw Talent programme as their "Gig of the Week." The programme is broadcast live on BBC Radio Humberside on Sunday evenings (8pm) on 95.9FM and DAB Digital. It's then repeated on Monday evenings on BBC Radio Leeds DAB Digital and online at www.bbc.co.uk/leeds (please note the Monday show is not broadcast on FM).

Presenter Alan Raw and Producer Katy Noone have chosen the band's gig at The Wardrobe in Leeds, on Saturday 21 February, as their live highlight and will be premiering the gig and airing two of the band's songs, "This is it" and "It Could Happen to You" on the show, broadcast this weekend (Sunday 15 February).

As well as our Wardrobe gig, we have many other events confirmed for 2009, with upcoming shows being Thursday 19 March at Rehab in Harrogate and Thursday 26 March at Fiddler’s Elbow in the Camden area of London . For these two gigs we will be re-launching the very successful “Chichino Fun Bus.” Anyone interested in travelling to these gigs with us will be given transport to the venue and return home. Travel to the Harrogate gig will set off early evening and is free, whilst the trip to London will set off mid morning and will cost £10 (but this includes entry fee to the gig itself). We return after the gig. Anyone interested in booking places on the bus trips can either respond to this email or alternatively contact your favourite Chichino member.
