Wow that sucks! Greg was late because of work and we had to call our set off tonight!! I can't say that I am happy about this! As a matter of fact I am rather pissed but hey it is what it is. Right now we aren't big yet and we have to take hits like this. The economy is rough right now and I can't ask any of my band members to loose any money right now!

Still I was sooo ready for this gig that it wasn't funny!! I love to play live! I wish I could do it for a consistent living!! God that would be great. However at this stage of the game I have to live my life as it is and that means a day job and then grabbing tours when we can.

I apologize to each and everyone who came out tonight ready to get funked!! ChiltonMusic Project takes our art very seriously and we won't have this type of mistake ever again!! Listen we love you all and we promise to do better in the future. Thanks for your future and know that we are coming better and bigger in the very near future.

So I have been away for basically a year and all is pretty much as I have left it in cyberworld!! I can't tell you that I haven't missed being online but it was a bit of an obsession, no an addiction that I needed to separate myself from!!

What did I do for the year? Wrote fantastic music that I am in the process of recording for you all! Now here's the scary part. I am doing it all by myself this time. I mean I produced the last one with the help of G Clef and I can't thank him enough for the help! But this time I am really going out on my own and doing it all from my home studio!!

I actually feel good about this because the songs are strong and if you liked "Is" then you will love the next cd. I have a title but I am keeping coy about that until I actually string it all together.

You know I really want to do something big with this music this time. I mean more than just play clubs and more than just hitting sales goals. I want to inspire people with the actual concept of the music. I want the cd to come to life for those of you that purchase it. "Is" to me is a concept cd about love life and God and how they intertwine in every way.

The new cd will be just as broad but a bit more focused (if that makes any sense) I mean I have grown more confident as a songwriter and performer since "Is" was released 4 years ago (Damn has it been that long) and I can't wait for you all to hear it.

Anyway this is my life in a nutshell right now. Its good to be back in cyberworld!! I of course will be doing everything to make my energy felt in as many places as I possibly can. I look forward to hearing from you all in the future.

Buy the CD. Come to the Shows. SPREAD THE WORD!!

Maybe I am a fool but I really don't think that I am. When I created "Is" I wanted to create something different than what you currently hear on the radio and the videos you see on tv.

Not to judge any other artists work but I feel what I create is bigger, deeper, funkier and most importantly better!!!

I mean it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that most artist that you hear on the radio today don't control their own destiny. (If you think I'm lying ask Kanye West what would happen if he tried to release a country and western cd!!)

Well now I am back in it. I am going to be finishing up two new projects very, very soon and I hope that you respond to them in a very financial manner (in other words buy the damn things in mass amounts)

Right now the industry is in a very bad space and the days of the millionaire rock star might just have run its course. However that isn't my reason for being in it. I want to create music that you feel, that you connect with and that you ultimately love and pass down to your children and your children's children.

Once again not to sound cocky but I really do write music THAT GOOD and THAT TIMELESS. I just need you to realize that, like right now. What I am saying to you is please don't be afraid to feel it!! I want your emotions!! Even the songs of mine that you hate!! I want those emotions too. Believe it or not I created each song with you in mind. Even though I don't know you I made this music specifically for you. It's a gift from God for me to be able to do that!! It is that very gift that I share with you; for you to sing, dance, yell, make love and live with!!

I promise the new stuff will be out in 2008. I promise you its going to be an awesome experience if you dare to listen to it!!

FEEL ME!!, SHARE ME!!, LOVE ME!!!, BUY ME!!!!!

Howdy all!! I  am currently working on two new projects at once right now. The first is the next full length cd whcih I know the title of but I won't tell you yet. Suffice it to say its long as hell but the music is just as funky and I promise its going to hurt  feelings of all the suckas  that are passing themselves off as musicians believe me.

The other is my acoustic cd which I have to say I am loving more and more each day!!! Its such a simply project and its very direct!! I believe that if you believe in music both cds are going to hit you like a ton of bricks believe me!!

The Acoustic jammy will be ready by Christmas and the full length band jammy will be ready by next spring.  Believe me!! Either way I am gonna get ya ear truer words were never spoken!!!

Okay I will let you go for now. Just be looking out for new music soon!! I promise it will be worth your time to hear it!!

Peace

Man does that feel good deleting friends!! Shit I can't tell you how good it feels but I highly recommend it. When I first created the band page here on Myspace I was in heavy promotion mode. I wanted as many people as possible to know about me and the band. So what did I do?

I joined whore trains and joined websites that gave me thousands of friends. This was cool at first because at the time people actually took the time to view my page, listen and rate my tunes and actually leave me comments that related to my music.

Those were the good ole days when myspace still had a simblance of interpersonal relationships. But leave it to the world of cyberspace to make the already im-personal world of the internet to make it even more im-personal.

Hell out of the 6,000 or so "friends" that I have only about 100 of them have actually taken the time to talk to me and only half of them have supported this music I have created through alot of blood, sweat and tears!

So today marks a new day. I know most of  you who come by aren't even going to take the time to read this but in the off chance that you do know this. If you don't like my music and I requested your friendship block me or delete me cause I am paying attention now and I don't want anyone on board who ain't going along for the ride with me and this remarkable band!!!

Delete us now my "friends" because I promise you I am going to delete you!!!

Do you still get excited about music anymore? I mean seriously. When was the last time you were excited about the release of your favorite artists new cd? Do you even have a favorite artist anymore?
Well I am going to hazard a guess and base what I think the answers to these questions are on my own experiences and say no!!

Now I will say upfront that I am a musician, singer, songwriter and music to me is everything. Hell sometimes in my life its been the only thing.

I think the music industry is in a strange place. On the one hand the record buying public and the music appreciation public are two totally different things, places and beings. I mean it is called show business and that means the INDUSTRY has to make money. What's the oldest profession in the world? Prostitution in other words sex sells on just about every level you can imagine.

So you have an industry that sells you sex in every way imaginable. On the other hand you have you have those of us who enjoy sex as much as anyone else but also enjoy converstation, cuddling, Art, God, Nature, Science, silience, noise and just about every other form of stimulation that makes us human.

A fan of my cd "IS" recently wrote me telling me how much the cd meant to him. He told me he felt "it was the most brilliant music I have heard in a decade! Please whatever you do don't stop making music and connecting with the people that care about what they listen too!"

That's the artist I have chosen to be and yes it has hurt my sales. It hurts me and excites me at the same time because I can see a time when the masses of someones get it fully. When the masses buy "Is" (which you can purchase right from my page) The masses will get what I am saying and the music that I a writing.

We have a show this Thursday May 10th at the Loft in Atlanta. If you want to see a band that gives a shit about what they have written and how they present it COME TO THE SHOW. If you want to hear some brothas that give a fuck about what they are saying with their instruments COME TO THE SHOW. If you want to see passion personified on stage, if you want to see it, feel it, smell it and live it COME TO THE SHOW!! I promise we won't disappoint and we will present you with music you can get excited about again!!

Buy the CD. Come to the shows and spread the word!!

Okay maybe something has passed me by and I just wasn't aware of it, but can anyone tell me if they even actually view their event invites?

I have a band (as you already know if you are reading this) and I post shows. I am very particular about how I do this by the way. I streamline the process so that if you live in Oklahoma I am not telling you about a show that takes place in Nashville.

Anyway I have made it a point to just include Georgia people in general and Atlanta people in particular these last couple of events. Do you know what? Not one response!! NOT ONE!! I mean some, hell alot of you I know personally we really are FRIENDS not myspace friends (which we all know is worth about as much as a 3 dollar bill.)

I don't know myspace its just a trip to me. I actually think....Well I will reserve that thought for another blog entirely. But I can say I expected better or at the very least something.

"Black Radio" is actually more discriminatory to black artist than MTV was back in the day.

Follow my thoughts. I had a converstation with a friend of mine the other day and they were trying to make the antiquated case that Lenny Kravitz is sellout. You know the argument because he does rock and roll and only had one r&b hit "It Aint Over".

Well this pissed me off. I asked my friend "What the HELL was Lenny Suppossed to do? Continue making R&B songs that "black radio" wasn't going to play anyway?"

The sad part about it is just how much things haven't changed in "black radio" over the years. Currently R&B radio (which honestly doesn't exist because everyone does hip hop) Doesn't play music that isn't hip hop or hip hop related as in produced by hip hop producers. I challange you to find me a recent "hit" that doesn't feature a rapper.

Now let me be fair I am an artist and I am currently working on my next cd. So yeah I have a vested interest in this debate. But it pisses me off that my work has no where to go upon its completion. My first cd was great and judging by the response of you here on BP it should have been heard on a wider scale.

And if you think I am just crying about how I am treated lets look at the facts.  Van Hunt has released two breath taking cd's did anyone hear them? No! I heard them by a stroke of luck and have been a fan ever since. Eryka Badu hasn't seen substantial radio play in a while. John Legend hardly, CorinneBaily Rae, nope and let's not even begin to discuss what happend to Jill Scott's last cd. I couldn't believe how radio treated that!!

Anyway my point being is that unless I start wearing oversized clothes. Have a bunch of half naked women in my videos and or start writing songs about "The Streets" my music has no chance to be heard via the major media outlets. Just like how MTV used to treat black artist for being black artist before Micheal Jackson came along.

For those of you who don't know MTV used to actively discriminate against black artist. They wouldn't even show Rick James "Super Freak"

So here we are all these years later and the discrimination still exists only this time its worse because its black on black. Seems like we can't stop finding ways to hurt each other.

What can we do to change this? I have no idea and honestly I am spent. I am an artist but I know I won't be heard and that hurts.

A couple of years ago ESPN had a wild hair grow up their ass and decided to hire Rush Limbaugh to be on the panel of their highly successfull Sunday football pre game show.

I have to admit it peaked my interest. Not because I like Rush (I can't stand him actually. Opinions are one thing but lying is something all together different). I just wanted to see how long he could go without putting his foot in his mouth.

Well as it didn't take long before his racism found its way to the mainstream. In the course of speaking about Philadelphia Eagles quaterback Donovan Mcnabb he made the assertion that the only reason why he has gotten any of the respect he has gotten is because he was black and that the press really needed a black quarterback to be successful so they choose him.

Pretty stupid right? But here is where it gets curious. No one on the panel said anything. Now here is where it gets even more curious. Two of the men on the panel were black men. Micheal Irvin and Tom Jackson. When asked afterwards they both said they "Didn't hear the remarks" Which I can guarantee you is bullshit. I have worked in TV for sometime and sets are nowhere near as big in reality as they look on TV. They heard him but they choose to play the role of the "Good Negro" and not say anything about it.

I only bring this up some two years later because I have been watching "Eyes On the Prize" on PBS and the courage of Dr. Martin Luther King and all the civil rights pioneers has really hit home with me. What if King and Malcom X had choosen to ignore or hide from the racism that was facing them?

What if instead of standing tall in the face of police dogs and fire hoses, klan members assasination attempts and most horribly the death of four little girls: they had choosen to be still and silent and not spoken a word? Where would we be as black people, or as a nation as a whole today?

Allow me to submit this. Its not courage to fight the fight you know you can win. Courage is fighting the fight you think you are gonna loose.

Speak up against racism and injustice everywhere and anywhere. Don't be a victim to somebody else "ism" At worst you will just have to agree to disagree but at best you can learn from each others view point.

As black men we see how much racism and self hate has destroyed our communities. Its time for us to stand up and be counted and take care of our own communities. Because our future cannot bear our curious silence anymore.
