EXCITING NEWS!

The release of the Chimera E.P. is less than 2 weeks away. In the meantime, this
week and next week, there will be one new song from the E.P. and one out-take up on
the Myspace page . The Chimera tracks will be listen-only but the out-take track
each week will be available for FREE DOWNLOAD (but only for one week).

This week the E.P. track up on myspace is Wagon Wheel. This is a song originally
started by Bob Dylan and then finished by Ketch Secor of the band Old Crow Medicine
Show. My version of it was originally recorded in the studio in 2005 and then
finished in 2006 and it features some of my old friends, Sebastian Renfield, Jesse
Freidin and Merrill Garbus.

The free track this week is a live version of Come Back Home featuring my good
friend, Gregory Alan Isakov. Greg is one of my favorite songwriters and I have had
the pleasure of playing many shows with him over the last few years.... including a
show at Atwoods in Cambridge, MA this fall where we recorded this track. The only
reason this track didn't make it on the E.P. was because I didn't want to have 2
versions of the same song on it. That and the fact the waitstaff were a little over
zealous in their table clearing, resulting in a lot of clatter....

I hope you enjoy them.

There will be 2 different tracks up next week.

Stay tuned.

Also, t-shirts and posters are still available here:

Hi everyone,

You can now PRE-ORDER the new Chimera E.P. at Cdbaby!

I also wanted to let you know that a new song from the E.P., California, is up on the myspace page.  This is a previously unreleased tune that I wrote about 4 years ago but just finished over the fall (sometimes it just works out that way). Also of note is that I recorded it myself and played all the instruments, which I really enjoyed.

Myspace, being the cutting edge technology that it is, doesn't seem to be allowing downloads right now.  If anyone was able to download last week's giveaway (Come Back Home live with Gregory Alan Isakov) please let me know by replying to this email. But in the meantime, there is a new "download" up there - a cover of the Ryan Adams song Dear Chicago recorded live on my West Coast tour last spring.

If we can't sort myspace out, at some point in the next little bit I will put the 2 free tunes up on my actual website for download (stay tuned).

Thanks for listening!

Hi everyone,

Here's the latest...
I have been working hard on getting the EP together.  The tentative release date is Jan. 20th (inauguration day!!!) and it will feature some live tracks, one new song, and a studio cover of the song Wagon Wheel. Stay tuned for more updates on that. I am also going into the studio in February to record the new full-length which will be out next summer.

There was some great press for the fall shows including this interview and review of my recent hometown Iron Horse Show:

http://blog.masslive.com/hiddentrack/2008/10/an_interview_with_chris_pureka.html

And this little blurb about my set at CMJ from the New York Times online section:

http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/10/23/cmj-delicacy-amid-the-clamor/

I have brand new posters and t-shirts which will be available at shows and for the first time ONLINE!  Those should be up for sale in about a week, just in time for some holiday shopping :)

Stay tuned.

Happy (almost) summer.   I had a great time on the West Coast last month - visiting the lands of wine, beer and coffee all in one trip!  Highlights included 2 sold out shows at Mississippi Studios in Portland (one of my favorite venues to play) and a fantastic time at the Tractor Tavern in Seattle with Erin Mckeown (featuring Allison Miller) and Andrea Gibson.
I was just home in Northampton for 2 weeks of very productive gardening (many thanks to my friends who are watering for me in my absence) and now I am back on the road and hopefully coming to a city near you.  I also, incidentally, have several new songs that I will be trying out in the coming weeks and months.

Boulder:  Since the Chautauqua show with Gregory Alan Isakov has sold out, we have decided to add another (more casual, smaller) show tomorrow night at Burnt Toast. This is primarily to accommodate folks that didn't get tickets for tonight but anyone is welcome (first come first served basis).  It's a small place and will probably only accommodate about 35 people, so get there early.  Doors will be at 7PM and tickets will be $15.

East Coast:  I am very excited to be playing some fantastic rooms on the east coast, opening for up-and-coming folkster Jay Brannan. (www.jaybrannan.com)  Check the tour dates below.
