Memories Were Made At The 1st Annual Tresa Street 4th Of July Jam
(Goodlettsville) - The 4th of July weather may have dampened some decorations and watered the flowers, but it certainly didn’t dampen the spirits of country music fans at the 1st Annual Tresa Street 4th of July Jam held in Goodlettsville TN. The show started off with a bang as many of Tresa’s guest artists performed from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Then, as the crowd rolled in so did the storm, but as they say…”The Show Must Go On” and that it did. The show was simply moved from the Long Hollow Jamboree event grounds to inside at the Long Hollow Jamboree.
Eugene Hardison, singer and proprietor of the Long Hollow Jamboree kicked off the show to a packed house. Razzy Bailey, followed with a string of his hits and his new country single “Hank Wrote That “. David Chamberlain, the songwriter of 7 number one George Strait songs, took the stage and performed several cuts from his new CD including hits he has written for George, Johnny Paycheck, Tanya Tucker, and several others.
The crowd was rockin and revved up as Tresa Street took the stage and performed some of her original songs including her 2002 chart single “Naturally”.
Then everyone jumped to their feet as Country Music Super Star, Freddie Hart graced the stage and performed some of his many hits. He surprised the crowd when he called on a spectator from the audience, his good friend Johnny Counterfeit to join him on stage. Counterfeit, a well known impressionist did several of his “impressions” including country greats, Johnny Cash & June Carter and Archie & Edith Bunker. He was hilarious. Mr. Hart ended his segment of the show with his monstrous hit “Easy Loving” and the crowd roared as Freddie Hart left the stage.
Tresa Street took the stage again with her closing song “America The Beautiful” to honor our country’s birthday and left the crowd on their feet with a standing ovation. Fans stood patiently while all the artists signed autographs for over an hour and a half. It was certainly a night to behold and quite the celebration.
If you didn’t see this year’s show, you missed a wonderful musical moment in time for sure. Memories were definitely made with a balance of country music greats, new comers and adoring fans from all over the country. I can’t wait to see what or who next year’s show will bring! Songwriter Jessi Alexander Scores First Chart Topper

NASHVILLE, TN / July 9, 2009 - Disney Music Publishing and songwriter Jessi Alexander are celebrating the smash hit single "The Climb" performed by music, TV and film superstar Miley Cyrus, which soared to No. 1 on both the Billboard and Mediabase AC chart this week, recently secured the No. 4 spot on Billboard's Hot 100 chart and is currently climbing the country airplay charts.  Not to mention, the track is one of the best-selling songs with nearly 2 million downloads to date.  Making this climb up the charts even more special for Jessi is that this song marks her first chart topper.

"I've waited a long time for one of my songs to see the world and it makes me feel honored, validated and incredibly grateful," says Jessi.  "And, it is such an honor to have Miley's beautiful voice be the vehicle to share it with the world."

Produced by John Shanks and co-written with esteemed Nashville songwriter Jon Mabe, "The Climb," is about the personal struggles that we are all challenged to face throughout our lives.  This moving, mid-tempo song is featured in Hannah Montana The Movie as well as the movie's platinum selling soundtrack.  In addition to reaching this coveted chart position, "The Climb," is in the running for the 2009 Teen Choice Awards single of the year.  The awards ceremony, which honors teenagers' favorites in music, film, television and sports, will be held on August 10, 2009 and televised live on FOX Television Network.  Fans can log on to Teen Choice Awards 2009 to cast their votes.

Signed to Disney Music Publishing Jessi is focused solely on writing at the moment and recently was in Los Angeles writing with Harvey Mason Jr. (Chris Brown and Jordin Sparks "No Air") and James Fauntleroy (recent cuts by Chris Brown, Usher and Kanye West).  In less than a year, she has had songs recorded by Toby Keith, Trisha Yearwood, Little Big Town, The Lucky Bucks and others.  A Tennessee native, Jessi already gained street cred on Music Row with the release of her debut album Honeysuckle Sweet for Columbia in 2005.  Jessi also recorded a duets project with artist/songwriter Jon Randall, who won the CMA Song of the Year award for "Whiskey Lullaby."  The pair has also recorded a song for the animated film "Everybody's Hero" which was released in the fall of 2006.  This film was the final project for the late Christopher Reeve as producer.  A favorite writer and artist of such acclaimed producers as Tony Brown and Mark Wright, Jessi is only beginning to achieve the success she deserves.

Next month, Jessi will be joining some of Nashville's finest songwriters for the inaugural Nashville meets Napa benefit, hosted by songwriter and producer Frank Rogers.

Hello fellow players,

While watching the science network on cable last week, I saw an experiment where a machine was totally controlled by the thought process from a human being. I am sure many of you have seen the way brainwaves that are picked up by a special hat with sensors located around it, can be amplified to flip microscopic relays that can be used to pass currents of electricity to different servos which makes this strange process happen.

How long do you think it will be before you can put one of these hats on with the sensors and plug it into your stack of Marshalls and think about the intro to Crazy Arms and as youre humming it to yourself, everybody can hear it coming out of the amp.

Does this sound silly to you? What if I had written to you about computers twenty years ago where you can send a picture and a message to anybody in the world free. Youd have called me the nut that youre probably calling me now for thinking about the thought process guitar.

This wouldnt be like a player piano which is a mechanical contrivance, but the slurs, slides, tones and counterpoint can be created as you think it. I must tell you that this whole idea isnt mine, but was touched on in a conversation that I had with Buddy Emmons eighteen years ago.

Its just that every time I turn on television, it seems like we are getting closer and closer to a thought process steel guitar being a working reality. Pedal setups are a thing of the past with this method, as are possibly even the guitars themselves.

Of course, you would still have to be a steel guitar player to know what were thinking about. Think about all this the next time you see the military channel and see an airplane being flown by using this thought process and sensors in a helmet. We may be closer than we think.

It may not be a bad thing if we can control what were thinking. Your minds can go wild thinking about this kind of thing, but its close. Of course, at the moment, Id just as soon fly my airplane with my hands and play my guitar with my fingers which I think I can control better than my thoughts. After all, Id hate to be in the middle of a solo on Rocky Top in the middle of a show and have a beautiful, sexy young girl come up to the stage in a mini-skirt and well, you get the idea.

A different subject now about the finishes on the bottom of steel guitars. In the beginning, Emmons steel guitars had a red felt process applied to the bottom. Before the cabinet was assembled and after the mica was pressed on, the bottom of the guitar was covered with a sticky red or clear paint, then a hand full of tiny felt threaded were dumped into the bottom or hand sprayed into the bottom which stuck to the paint.

When the paint dried, there it was. A permanent fuzzy bottom on the guitar. It looked great, covered up flaws in the wood and any extra holes that may have had to be drilled. Not much later when Emmons started making the first brown rosewood mica guitars, they used a brown felt on the bottom. This was mid to late sixties.

Then of course, the black felt came into being which goes through until today. Many of you have said this might have something to do with that fabulous Emmons tone. After doing some serious experimenting, I can assure you it doesnt. But it does have a lot to do with how nice the guitar looks. And no, the black felt doesnt sound better.

On the early Sho-Bud guitars, after the permanent cross shafts and welded bell cranks were screwed to the guitar, black spray can, probably rustoleum, painted everything under the guitar. the wood, the steel parts and the aluminum l-brackets that hold the cross shaft.

Most of the spray painted black guitars underneath we built by David Jackson in the early sixties. A very few that werent painted, just the natural dirty maple, were probably built by Shot Jackson himself in the famous chicken coup of Jack Anglin of Johnny and Jack fame.

Shot was actually playing steel guitar for them in this period. When Jack was killed in the car wreck coming back from Patsy Clines funeral, Shot moved the business to the corrugated metal building with dirt floor by the railroad track on Nesbitt Lane in Madison, Tennessee.

This was very early sixties and Shot said to his son David, Help. You take care of this production stuff and Ill piddle around in my garage at home and try to keep these stars happy.

Anyway, using the finish on the bottom of the guitar as a dating process can be pretty accurate if you know what youre looking at for Sho-Bud or Emmons guitars.

I hope to see all of you in Branson for the big steel guitar show there the weekend of the 26th of July. Then August 7th, Ill be in Thomasville, North Carolina. On the Branson show, well be at the Branson mall.

In keeping my promise to keep my mailing list first informed about special guitars we have in stock, I need to tell you about a brand new Rittenberry that was just delivered. This one has a natural lacquer birdseye maple sunburst front, birdseye mica top, aluminum highly polished neck, three pedals, five knee levers. It sounds astounding as you may well expect.

This guitar with this front and polishing package retails for over $2700. Say you saw it here and we can let you have it for our very low Rittenberry sale price of $2490. And remember, we have two brand new Rittenberrys in stock right now, both S-10s with 3 and 5.

LOVE AND THEFT SHOOT MUSIC VIDEO FOR HIT SINGLE, “RUNAWAY”

Nashville, TN- Just days before the 4th of July holiday, Love And Theft’s Brian Bandas, Eric Gunderson and Stephen Barker Liles spent the day in Memphis, Tenneessee filming the music video for their debut hit single, “Runaway.” Directed by Kristin Barlowe, the video was shot at an abandoned brewery in ....Memphis..... The “Runaway” video story line follows Love And Theft as they make a fast paced getaway from the existence that leaves them feeling trapped.

The shoot wasn’t without its challenges – Love And Theft member Stephen Barker Liles played his part despite being sick all day from a bout of food poisoning. Also, the engine in the 1971 Mustang Mach 1 featured in the video had to be rebuilt the morning of the video shoot. The car’s power steering later failed during filming with Love And Theft member Brian Bandas behind the wheel. Despite the setbacks, Love And Theft and Kristin Barlowe teamed up to make a high energy video for the band’s first single.

The video for “Runaway” can be seen on TV and online in the coming weeks in advance of the band’s CD launch on August 25th.

After opening shows for Taylor Swift in 2008, Love And Theft is currently on the road meeting country radio and promoting their debut single, “Runaway.” The band’s debut CD, World Wide Open, will release August 25th. To learn more about Love And Theft, visit www.loveandtheft.com or follow the band on Twitter at www.twitter.com/lntweet.

Red Dirt’s Hottest New Band Breaks onto the Scene with Rockin’ Song from Debut CD....

.. ..

NASHVILLE, TN (July 8, 2009) – The Red River Mudcats, one of the most promising new bands to come out of the Texas-Oklahoma “Red Dirt” music scene, releases their latest Cimsound Records single, “Texas Eagle,” featuring the guest vocals of Red Dirt star, Jason Boland.....

.. ..

“..Texas.. Eagle” was written by the late Bob Childers, who is considered by many to be the Godfather of the ....Stillwater...., Oklahoma Red Dirt movement. The song is from the group’s forthcoming self-titled CD.....

.. ..

The Red River Mudcats are comprised of Texas singer/songwriter Liz Calendar, teamed with hot Okie players - including guitarist/songwriter/producer Jeffrey Parker; drummer Dixie Weathers, and bassist Bobby Ryan Lester, who collectively deliver Americana Roots-Rock with flavors of Southern-fried Country Rock, Red Dirt, and fiery Texas Blues Rock.....

.. ..

Parker, considered by many to be one of the top guitarists in the business, has a long and deep connection to the Oklahoma Red Dirt music scene. In the ‘90s, he owned and operated Cimarron Sound Lab in ....Stillwater..... During this period, Parker played on, engineered and/or produced seminal records by many of the singer/songwriters who were at the forefront of the Red Dirt movement, including Bob Childers, Bill Erickson, Mike McClure and Tom Skinner among others. And he played a key role in the development of some of the biggest stars in the genre, including co-producing and producing the first Cross Canadian Ragweed albums, Carney and Live And Loud... ..

.. ..

Parker was involved with Jason Boland’s early career and fondly recalls, “Jason took guitar lessons from me when I worked at Daddy O’s Music. Later on, I co-engineered the Bob Childer’s track “Change In The Weather” for his ‘..Pearl.. Snaps’ album that Lloyd ....Maines.... produced. So, it is really cool to get to work with him again on another Childer’s song – all these years later! Both of us feel truly blessed to have known and worked with him.”....

Sweepstakes Winner Recounts Unforgettable Experience

July 8, 2009 / Nashville, TN
- The 2009 MusicCityNetworks (MCN) Fan Club Concert Series was an unparalleled success with multiple sold-out shows and more than 2,500 die-hard country music fans in attendance.  Presented by MCN, in coordination with KCW Events at the local Nashville hot spot Rocketown during Country Music's biggest week, this annual concert series always features intimate, live performances from some of country music's most electric performers.  And this year was no different, with Bucky Covington, Emerson Drive, Montgomery Gentry, Josh Turner, Lady Antebellum, Sara Evans, Tracy Byrd and Tracy Lawrence to boot.  A family reunion of sorts, each event connected fans with their favorite artists, as well as fellow fans.

Like most family reunions, there is always something to talk about.  From the on stage marriage proposal followed by Josh Turner performing "Soulmate" to the Sara-oke contest winner singing on stage with Sara Evans to a moving and inspirational gathering of our country's wounded warriors at the Montgomery Gentry show, this was one unforgettable series.  For the lucky MCN sweepstakes winner, Kristin Baltadonis, she had the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to travel to Music City and experience every single one of these incredible concert moments VIP style thanks to sponsors MCN, Yallwire and Country Weekly.

"I had a fabulous time!  Fan club parties are the way to go because you get more of a personal, intimate time with the artists," Baltadonis said.  "Any country music fan would have a wonderful time and this is a trip that I will never forget."

Fans weren't the only ones buzzing about the concert series.  Jenna Roher, O-Seven Artist Management said, "It was a great night!  I really was impressed with the location and everything you guys [MCN staff] did to make it such a great night for the fans... Anyway, thank you - it was a first class night and I can't tell you how many fans said it was the best fan club dinner/party they had ever been to!"

For those fans who missed attending the concert series, Yallwire productions was on-site to capture all of the highlights and will be posting live on yallwire.com later this summer.
