Arcade Fire: Neon Bible [Merge]
Ok, it's not as groundbreaking as Funeral, but Neon Bible captures the mood of a generation along the likes of The Cure's Disintegration. [Intervention mp3]

Figurines: When the Deer Wore Blue [Morningside]
This quirky, lo-fi, alt-rock masterpiece from Denmark is a must-have for fans of Built to Spill and Modest Mouse. I played this album a lot this year and it's still in heavy rotation. [The Air We Breathe mp3]

Andrew Bird: Armchair Apocrypha [Fat Possum]

Dark, poignant and remarkably beautiful. Andrew Bird is not your standard, straight-forward songwriter. Every track takes you around corners that you're not sure you really want to go down, but you're ultimately glad you did. [Imitosis mp3]

Bon Iver: For Emma, Forever Ago [Jagjaguwar]
