Where: Meridian, 1503 Chartres right next to the George R. Brown.
Web: http://www.meridianhouston.com/
Why?: Because some of you still don't know about the Chronicle Local Bands database. And some of you still haven't turned in press kits. And you like me.
See you there,

We have launched the Houston Chronicle Local Bands database. Go here: http://www.chron.com/content/chronicle/ae/music/band/index.html
Please take a look at your listing by doing a keyword search at the top of the page. If your listing isn't in the database and should be, it's probably because I'm missing a piece of information and have no doubt tried to email you countless times. Email me and we'll resolve the issue.
If you aren't in the database but would like to be, see the "Bands: Fill out this form" link and follow the instructions.
If you see any problems with anything, email me at sara.cress@chron.com.
Enjoy!

If you haven't entered the Local Bands database yet, I understand. You're busy, maybe you're not interested, maybe you hate me personally and want nothing to do with anything I touch. That's fair. But let me urge those of you who have simply forgotten about it, to please visit http://www.chron.com/content/chronicle/ae/music/band/index.html and click on that "Submit your band" image at the top. We are getting closer to launching the database and we'd love for you to be a part of it.

If you're interested in being listed in the Chronicle's Local Bands database (to launch early 2005) and you find the process of sticking your CD in a mailer and sending us your MP3 agreement just too difficult, I will be at the Meridian on Dec. 14th to pick up press kits and MP3 agreements.
Here is the exact description from Ian Varley of the Houston Music Roundtable:
"The Meridian is having another musicians mixer and "industry night", and this time the Houston Music Roundtable is an official sponsor (look ma, we're official!). So come hang out and meet Houston music folks. Among this month's attendees will be Sara Cress (Houston Chronicle), Taki Pappas (Pace Concerts), Aaron Gossney & Amber Lanphier (Universal Music), Joshuan Mares (Propaganda Promotions), and more. Oh, and me. Heh."
The Meridian is located at 1503 Chartres on the outskirts of downtown.
See you there.
