First off, a huge ass thanks to our friend Noah Swanson for helping us record drums.

But as the headline reads, we just got done recording 4 demos a few days ago. A small amount of work will probably be done to them soon (mainly vocal wise), but otherwise we think they turned out really well.

In addition to the three new recordings availible on the myspace, two other tracks can be downloaded for a limited time:

Comeback
Outtakes, etc.

Caleb is doing an excellent job learning the material, and the band is getting tighter and better with each practice session. We may have a show the 28th or the 29th, we'll keep you posted.

Otherwise, if you know if any local shows around the area, please message us and let us know. We're availible to play pretty much and Saturday night.

Thanks a lot, and enjoy the songs!

MUCH LOVE,
Climate

We welcome Caleb Swank to Climate.

Come November he's officially playing bass, while Ryan takes up the drums and I continue looking like a total ass with my silver glitter Jagmaster.  Stomp w00 w00.

Caleb hails from the scene extremely knowledgeable of the in's and out's of live performance and booking, as he has his own DIY company called Nameless Productions, where he does booking, radio, promotion and (soon enough) a record company.

So needless to say we certainly scored, big time, with Caleb's almost bottomless expertise, and we're excited as all hell to have him aboard this soul train of love.

Expect some progress in the next month and such.  Keep listening.  Tell everyone you know.  Thanks.

Bored.  I'm posting the lyrics for the EP, not including the cover for Just Like Heaven (but you should all know the lyrics for that... yeah--it's required.)

Come Back

Yeah, I walk alone now--
Shake away and displace
And if you fear tomorrow,
At least you won't fear today

Blood stirred on broken words,
All my love unheard

Everyone is you
And if you're to fold,
I'll hold back--
Don't need to say anything more to you
And if this is true
Come back, react--Oh, love,
It doesn't mean I'm going to fade away

Innocence fades for everyone
But I'm here to take back mine

You are the weakness
Starting to take hold on me--
But I won't give in.

We are the crack of broken hearts,
Hold back,
A comeback always comes to late,
We are the crack of broken hearts,
And I'm intact--
A comeback won't come for you.

You are the weakness.

Personal Effect

So far away, you're rearranged,
Strangely intensified,
Love gone away, this feeling
Of indented intent collides
Wide eyed break, minor and awake,
Local and personified
It's them that said this scene is dead--
Can it become electrified?
I miss home, and I say it's only
A temporary scar--they're shooting stars,
In explosions, their sight is making me whole

I'll turn when the moment is you.

Personal effect, deadly and direct,
Marked for the zealous signs.
Scream my name--
Don't be ashamed
Sing for the jealous times.
Do you believe for one night
Revolution sounds alright
Hit it dead on--I'm running on the energy
You've been giving me all night

I love the melody, I love the misery,
Eating away the color of the lights,
Love the energy--it's sharing,
Screaming like no one cares.

I'll turn when the moment is you.

Walk on with this blue excess,
Walk on with this strange distress.
Let me borrow your love
For the songs and for the crowds--
Am I alone?

To Everyone But Me

Subway lights turning dark red
Fading in your eyes fades again
Nothing else will ever change me.
Nothing else will ever change me.
Mythologies of broken lines
I'm at the edge of my mind
Hanging to every word you say
Hanging to every word you say

I swerve these lies
Into futurist lines
Staging statements
In my mind

Yeah I won't apologize for
This song of your enmity
It don't know anyone
Don't know anyone
Know anyone
But me

I’d rather die than give you
Habit of happy apathy
Actions leave, I stay behind
Writing lines and feeling blind
And the ink is running dry
And the ink is running dry
Writing down every word you say
Writing down every word you say

It's just a decadent
Dependent dissident
Of my rhythmic eyes

Yeah I won't apologize if
I seem to see more clearly
I don't need anyone
Don't need anyone
Need anyone
But me

Yeah I won't apologize
If I wasn't what you wanted me to be.
You can have everyone
Can have everyone
Have everyone
But me.

It’s what I feel when I’m alone

Division Song

I'm locked in this gunfight
Between the chaos and the embrace
And in the crossfire is painted illusions
Drawn out by the outline of your face

Oh today I felt a change coming on
Oh today I felt a change coming on
Ambivalence, like division comes,
To unchain me from your pain

This sense is sane in the divide

I miss the innocence in my life
But I know the silence has to burn
I've got my own tempo and I won't let you break it
In repeating, listless beatings

A bomb sleepwalks into center lines
I've caught your eyes on fire sometimes
But music is the only truth I've ever known,
I've ever known.

Yeah.  Check it.  What what.

1. The Drum Tracks.
2. Some More Vocals
3. John's 12-string for Division Song (it was going to be all electric--I want to see if it holds on its own as just an acoustic, or partially acoustic).
4. More harmonies for To Everyone But Me.. because that song is turning out really, really good.
5. Trying to get a good vocal take for Come Back.  The singing for that is probably the most difficult thing I've ever done musically.  I can't get it to work for the life of me and it still escapes me as to why.

When the drums get laid down (probably Friday afternoon), I'll be able to roughly mix and upload what I've got so people can finally hear it.  It does not mean the EP is done.  It depends on what shows I end up getting.  The recording and mixing will be continual throughout break--the final versions are going to sound astounding.  I'll upload the songs in two waves--the roughs on Friday, and the final ones whenever they end up done.

I want to get more shows, obviously, during this break.  Not sure where or when, but the details will come when everything begins materializing.

UPDATE:

Tonight my voice gave in.  But not without getting a proper vocal track for Come Back (thank fucking God).  I thought that would never happen.  Everything's set to continue to bass and drums.  Hopefully Friday night we're good to upload the EP.

I'm listening to what I've done so far since Thursday.  I'll be the first (and only, since no one else has heard these versions besides other backing members) to say that this blows anything I've ever recorded out of the fucking water.  My voice isn't usually *this* elastic.

Seriously, get excited.  This shit's going to blow people away--especially those that didn't think I could put a decent vocal track down.

It's all going up Friday if everything else--namely, (real) drumming, and the bass parts, go as planned.

Yeah.

Wish me luck.

Now.

If you know of any that you think I could get added to the bill, let me know.  The only conditions are that I'd need a PA for the show--I don't have my own.  That, and the earliest I can play is the 22nd of December, until the 8th of January.  Besides that, I'm ready like hell to start going live with this.  If you have *any* tips, let me know.

Oh, also--it needs to be in a 50 mile radius within the quad cities.  That's it though, swear.

Thanks a hell of a lot.

On Wednesday,

1. I begin hunting for shows for the next three weeks that I'm home,
2. I (should) have delivered necessary equipment for recording vocals,
3. Begin the process of scripting out all the tracks and recording.

From there until the 20th I will be in Champaign recording vocals and guitar tracks.  That's essentially *my* part of it--when I come home Ryan Rowland, Steve Maule, John Hinz and (hopefully) Kyle Rowheder will contribute in drums, bass and vocals.  The first theoretical time I could do a show would be the 23rd--the friday of the week that I come home.  The real issue.

I'm working on ways to improve the quality of the recording.  Seeing as I'm still somewhat a beginner (though I've recorded and used Cool Edit/Audition since 2002), I'm working on compression.  (It's nerd shit, I don't expect anyone to care, but this is documentation for myself as much as anyone else, so bear with me.)  I'm excited as hell to work with the new toys I've been able to afford.  I'm even more excited to get the shows going and actually sell these (for a fucking dollar, people) to everyone and everyone.

For a while, you'll be able to listen to the tracks on here, but you'll be able to *have* them if you come to a show.  See that?  That's "marketing," or so I've been told from people more informed than me. :P

Needless to say, this is probably the greatest thing I've got going for me.  "Music is the only truth I've ever known."  I wasn't kidding.  I wrote that lyric two years before I truly found out the importance of that statement.

I'll try to update each day between Wednesday and the ninth of January, when I have to go back to Champaign.

*Also*, I'm going to work on getting shows in various places over Spring--it's going to be somewhat strained seeing as I don't have a viable mode of transportation--the good news is that both of my roommates live in the same town as me.  I just have to know if they're coming home for the weekend two weeks in advance.  And I can do a show then.  And I'll be happy as fuck to make the rest of the world happy with my happy fucking music that talks about unhappy fucking things.  Yeah.

Hey.

Three steps.

1. This,
2. The full EP
3. The full LP.

Pursuit of Soul EP is going to be released and handed out (for a very nominal fee) during shows. Not a whole lot of copies, but they'll be available on the MySpace. I'll provide bonuses and such for actually getting a copy. Don't expect anything more than a paper sleeve case. This is minimal packaging, maximum promotion and

1. Personal Effect (new version)
2. Come Back
3. Revolution Go
4. Division Song
5. Just Like Heaven (Hell yeah, it's a Cure cover.)

Release date isn't set yet, but expect mid to late December, before first shows. Performance dates are going to be set up in the next week or so around the Quad Cities area. Massive promotion and effort is going into this. Expect it to kick all forms of ass.

Thanks for everyone that's supported me so far. Be assured--It will most certainly not be the suck.

Thanks.

For reasons I won't go into the show at Killers has been cancelled.  "Pissed" is a mild adjective for this.  I was most definitely prepared for it.

Not that this really affects anything.  I may be able to actually record a demo product for whatever show I end up doing next.  If anything, four (good) songs, sold for about $2-3.  Something to get the word out.

I'm terribly sorry for the late notice.  I've been *home* home for the thanksgiving break, without access to internet.  I'm at a public library typing this.
