She walked in like she did so many times before. Her dress was immaculate as it hugged her supple body. Her eyes would glisten as they caught the reflections of the dance lights. As always, she was surrounded by her girls...each and every one...young and beautiful...ready to take the town by storm. But, tonight was different...
I could feel a sadness in her stare...in her smile.
I don't even know your name. I don't know what went wrong. I don't even know your name, but baby girl I know your song.
So, I flipped through my crate...my fingers guide me through the darkness over the record covers. The faint smell of dust on wax reminds me that nothing compares to dropping a needle on real vinyl.
And at that moment that melody came in...she found herself in the middle of the dance floor...spinning in circles...right where she belonged.
I don't even know your name. I don't know what went wrong. I don't even know your name, but baby girl I know your song.
He stood by the bar, disguised in shadows. Another tip of the glass as he tried to forget. Where it came from or where it went, it doesn't matter now. The taste of his sorrow had hints of vodka and sprinkles of patron. As always, he was surrounded by friends...each and every one...bold and brave...ready to take the town by storm. But, tonight was different.
I could feel the sadness in his stare...in his smile.
I don't even know your name. I don't know what went wrong. I don't even know your name, but my brother I know your song.
So, I pulled that record out of that sleeve. It's been such a long, long time. Laid it carefully on the platter and caressed it with my finger tips. With a flick of the fader...found that sweet release as the beats skated into a groove.
And at that moment that bass line kicked in...he found himself in the middle of the dance floor...spinning in circles...right where he belonged.
Every deejay knows that you spend your whole night on the decks...waiting for the next song to walk through the door.

I want to send a special thanks to all those party people who have shown so much love and support for so many years. To be honest, no one ever gets paid to play in front of people they love...that's a privilege. You only get paid for all those hours unseen...to get to that stage. Anyone who thinks otherwise has forgotten what is means to be an artist. And the people who share this journey...will always mean the most.

Anticipation has been building as iDrum stacks new remixes fresh from the studio. A lifetime of honing production skills...applying years of music theory and composition...hours of practice and endless nights behind a recording console...and it all really just comes down to the grooves you lay for the dance floor. And I am proud to present these new tracks for our next iDrum event!
This last recording session gave me new hope and new ideas from old music and old memories. BT got flavor...requesting a remake of Debbie Deb's "When I Hear Music", then surprising me by laying some crazy hi-hat syncopation to one of my favorites, ATB's "Don't Stop". Somehow we decided to visit my crates of house records (yeah, I said records...as in those 12 inches of good lovin') and came out with an incredible iDrum version of Robin S "Love for Love". A recent visit from Unkle Pete and King Punchy inspired a funky break edit of "Everybody's Free" from that '97 Romeo & Juliet Soundtrack. My sister turned me onto a girl-empowered rock-pop tune "Take Me On the Floor" by the Veronicas and we quickly made it slam. And an instrumental of The Servant's "Cells" got the iDrum treatment. Adding these to the list of literally hundreds of remixes already in my deejay arsenal...I think we got this one covered!
Yeah, for some...going out at night is all about getting crunk and getting drunk. For most who work in the industry, it's all about getting paid and getting laid. No hate...it's all love. But, for those select few who outlast all contenders and pretenders...it really is all about the music, the vibe, and the love! And iDrum represents for the heads.

Yes. Rumors are true. I, Jef Diamond have finally conceded to no longer be a resident deejay at any of our nightclub establishments. It's not that I wouldn't play a residency again, it's just that at this point and time in my career I simply do not find any currently available residency in this city as desirable or advantageous to my values as an entertainer. But, 16 years of playing almost every single weekend...dozens of clubs...literally hundreds of shows...old habits will die hard.
More than a decade of struggle later, I see Oklahoma City's nightlife entertainment industry at a very crucial pivotal point. This city has a very limited time to harness our current potential energy created from our relative great disposition during an economic recession. With over a million people in our metro area and continual efforts to cultivate a cultural revolution, Oklahoma City must decide to be a new iconic mecca within the next few years. My hopes lay with the Academy of Contemporary Music and the production core of the Dream Sound Project.
Will the commercial masses continue to dominate the future of our city's music industry? Will this city cultivate its own cultural revolution? Will our most talented still be forced to flee for survival in more salutary cities? Will this current breed of socialites continue to make their mark as the absolute worst party generation I have ever played for? Will Bricktown recognize the actual industry that their businesses are based upon and then help to build this industry?
So, what do you do? My only resolve is to continue the path I have spend over half of my life pursuing. My focus on music production and performance has not faltered, only changed to more progressive means...beyond that of which this city has been accustomed to me doing.
It's been a long time coming. Countless requests and questions came about in the interim: "when is iDrum going to play again?"
Here's your answer:
(Fri Sep 04 09)
The innovative combination of remixing and live performance now introduces a new musician to add funk to the stage and groove to the dance floor. With a new outlook on life, love, and music come new tracks and a new cast. I am proud to introduce to you my new drummer: B.T.!
An alumni of a recording school so well respected that is simply known as the Conservatory, B.T.'s roots can be found with his grandfather who strummed a guitar, picked a bass, and bowed a fiddle for the legendary country swing band, Bob Piguet and his Kings of Swing. B.T. fortified his groove with years study and recording in live music capitol of Austin. Rocking a vintage Ludwig kit, expect a dynamic rhythmic interpretation to move your soul.

This past week, we have witnessed the sure signs of the new counter-culture revolution emerging in our humble city. Herald the rising of the new generation of the true hip-hop nation...seen through the heart and soul of the Ha'Stylez Krew...as bboys gathered from all over the region and fresh spray paint adorned the walls with live graffiti. Take notice of the wall-to-wall energy created by NeedleGruv as they brought pure funky breaks from the underground basements, right into your ears. And an entire room bounced with an energy I haven't felt in almost a decade, as one of the world's premiere deejays came to town surrounded by a cast of Dance Robots Dance.
The underground lives...
The underground lives...
I recently had the opportunity to pick up some jazz guitar techniques from the great Danny Vaughn, who preached that music always runs in cycles...becoming incredibly simplistic and easily swallowed by the masses before doing a complete one-eighty and growing in increased complexity and intellect. This cycle is ever present in the clubs and dance floors of this city. And as we begin to move from the commercial fluff that has dominated this city's dance floors for years and towards new positive energy, I am confident when I claim that the counter-culture revolution has begun. And these events are only the first few small steps in a great new journey in our city's music culture. Maybe this time we will get it right...
The underground lives...

Every once and a while, there are those people who surprise you. I mean, there are those who have that certain creative ability that just awes you. And then you come to expect that talent in a certain way...a certain media...a certain flavor. Then, given a few years of absence and they return with something that just floors you!
Arkangel has been producing and creating dance floor breaks for long enough to have become one of the most popular downloads on BeatPort.com. His brand of vocal stabs and melodic synth lines create movements that can only be described as uplifting and energizing!
Now, his 2009 all-new album is about to hit the streets! Arkangel's "Synergy" is a collection of original funky breakbeat scores with epic strings and pads, enhanced with vocal stabs and searing synthesized piano leads. This one is for the dance floor!
Martini Lounge is proud to host the "Synergy" album release party! Check out a special live deejay performance from this Kingdom Underground recording artist!

Sometimes you really have to give in order to receive.
On June 6th, a select group of OKC's most talented will take stage for a fundraising event to keep music going in our schools. The idea began as BT and the brethren of broke musicians whom work at Guitar Center were approached by the Fender Music Foundation to build a stage in the middle of our parking lot, rig up 100,000 watts of JBL sound, and gather the best bands we could find...all in an effort to support the mantra: "Give. Music. Life."
Less than a month into the project and others became eager to join our cause. Music4Life Studios offered an EP recording session for the band to who can bring the most donation dollars, and naturally demos from dozens of bands came flooding through the doors. Then our neighbors at Best Buy and Home Depot rallied to provide us with the materials we needed to put together a concert. Star Productions and Little River Music Valley offered technical support and gear as we began to realize how incredibly large this event had become, and always down to ride for a great cause, B.A.C.A. Nation gave the nod.
And now, we gather together...from so many different musical backgrounds...on one stage...upon the commencement of one of the greatest events I have ever had the honor to play a humble role in. Keep music in our schools! Let the youth of our nation create! Let them play! Let them dance! Let their voices sing! Let the revolution begin!!!
This is a FREE concert! Donate $10 or more and receive a 10% discount off of any* item from Guitar Center! There will be contests and giveaways from Best Buy and Guitar Center!
