Don't tell me you love me, if you just want my favors.

Don't tell me I'm attractive and just need to get out more, if you'd never think of dating me yourself.

Don't tell me I'm important to you, if you just want to be with me in a crisis.

Don't tell me how much you like being around me, if you're only going to come around when you've got nothing else to do.

If you're my friend, be my friend. If you like me so much or love me, don't just tell me. Show me. If this seems like I'm talking about you, maybe you should think about why.

To all my real friends, much love and many blessings. And don't ever tell me goodbye.

Probably not. But this article....

Dear Pixar

....asks Pixar to make a movie with a girl in the lead role who's not a princess. I had not noticed that they had not but looking over their output they are guilty of not putting women or girls in the lead. The closest is The Incredibles and even then they are more sidekicks.

Here's an interesting thought regarding The Incredibles marketing. How many of you went to Wal-Mart and bought a Violet or Elasti-girl action figure? No one? Well that's because those were "Disney Store Exclusives". The Disney store here in Houston closed down about a year or so before The Incredibles came out.

The marketing of almost every movie is geared towards boys, but Disney especially. Unless it's a princess.  Dorie from "Finding Nemo" might be the exception. So I agree with the article. Where are the girls?

Current mood:  miserable
Ever have one of those friends who always seemed to give and give, yet nothing ever seems to work out right for them? What's the best possible way to make them feel worse? I'll tell you what to do. First off, find out what they really want. I mean, really, really want. Then do your level best to not help them get it in any way whatsoever. Don't lift a finger or your voice at all.

Also it helps tons if they have something you want. That way you can ask them for it and when they say "yes" (because they're too nice to say no to someone who claims to be their friend), make sure you have other things to do when they want to do something. Make sure you're only available at your utmost convenience. Don't let the fact that they help you out bother you at all.

You know, like when you need a place to live and they and their mother make it possible. Or when you ask to move in and they say "sure. no problem" right away then you need to make sure NOT to return the favor. That's nothing but awesome!

Oh and if you should happen to be a girl/woman who they are in love with, please go over to their place, ask them for favors then sit on their couch and mention your fiancee a bunch. Best yet is to make them feel like you think of them as no more than something to be scraped off the bottom of your shoe. But keep asking for favors cuz they'll let you have whatever you want.

I hope I've helped you out in someway letting you know how to treat people. Please do this as it is the only way to treat people who love you. What do you mean it's not?

Emily Osment inspired me to think about my playlist and why the songs that are on it are there. She is totally right when she says playlists are audible diaries. This is what I feel and what I do. So this blog post is for her (now get the album done girl! lol) In no particular order-

The Weight of Her by Butch Walker- I recently had my heart broken by the woman in this song. Ok, not the exact same woman but this song describes her better than almost any other song. Plus it rocks my socks!

Wicked Sensation by Lynch Mob- George Lynch is one of the finest heavy metal guitarists ever. No doubt that wins the spot but also listen to the bass line. Funky, fun...good to dance to. Basically this song is for when I feel good. Which right now is more often when I hear great guitar. So it feeds the cycle.

I Just Wanna Rock by Joe Satriani- Pretty much the same as Wicked Sensation except it's Satch! Note that you can play heavy and still make good dance music.

Only Happy When It Rains by Richard Cheese- I met Garbage once. It's a good story, I'll have to do a blog on it. Thing is, Richard Cheese takes it and makes it swing. It's funny, fun and well...just cool. I love big band jazz and this is the modern equivalent.

I'm Done by Marla Sokoloff- Normally an actress sings and sounds like crap. Not so here. This girl has chops and frankly the song resonates with me. See the Butch Walker entry.

La La Land and This Is Me by Demi Lovato-This whole album is pretty much constantly in my ear and at some point I have to get this tone for myself. It's pretty much the perfect pop/rock album. I have said it before, I'll say it again. If she wants, Demi Lovato will be the next Pat Benatar. And if you know me, you know it's a big compliment.

Norwegian Cowbell by Paul Gilbert- I unabashedly have a man-crush on this guy. He's cool, talented and everytime I see him perform he's looking like he's having so much fun he can't believe he gets paid. This song is great but the song I would love to have on my page is ...well two. Both off of his "Acoustic Samurai" cd. "I Am Satan" and "Suicide Lover". Check them out. Great stuff.

Candle (sick and tired) by White Tie Affair-Just good pop but it was introduced to me by a new friend so that makes it special.

Watershed by Rainchild
- Rainchild is a local Houston band that rocks. Nice guys every single one of them. Why this isn't a hit song across the US and beyond yet is only a question of exposure.  Check out the rest of their stuff and tell them Michael sent ya.

What's your playlist? Let's keep this going. Mine will probably change soon but this is a good start.

Thanks again Emily for the inspiration.
Michael

Over on the YouTube MemeMolly posted a video asking "Are you anyone's favorite person". Apparently there is a video of a man on the street asking this exact question. I can safely say I am not anyone's favorite person. Really. This isn't some cheap attempt to get a compliment.

Here's the thing, are YOU anyone's favorite. Comment below or message me.

Yes I have two favorite people. Had three until life handed me shit. So I have two. They know who they are. Just about everyone else can suck an egg.

One of my favorites. Hope you all enjoy it. Yes he was a druggie and all but just try to deny the beauty of this song.

Maybe one of the fantastic musicians on my friends list will cover it.
