So aside from the annual fake update, a lot of things have been going recently. I'm sure most people are in the dark, so time to shed a little light:

After spending a few weeks completely unemployed (which sounds a lot worse than it is. In my business being unemployed is like having summer break for teachers, it just means you're in between projects) I did in fact land a job with Discovery Channel. Specifically, I'll be one of the videographers/production guys they call on when they have a project in my area (DE, PA, NY) and I'm on the list for when they need folks to go overseas (woo!). Granted it's all commissionary but that gives me time for the other jobs I'm on.

Can you say TV Pilot? I think you can, and I'm pretty excited to be working on one. More info on that as I am allowed to give it.

I've also been a writing fiend, currently collaborating on not one, but two different scripts; both which are great stories that I was honored to be asked to help with.

Have you heard of Theater Revolution? If you're in the Philly area you will soon, which is something else I'm very excited to be a part of and plan to flood everywhere with info on as I can give it.

What am I missing.... OH! Most importantly, I've begun the "Great 09 Wedding Extravaganza". It was kicked off in March with the wedding of my brother Matt Morton and his lovely wife Tab. There are plenty of pics of this floating around, and for the record (in case you can't tell,) it was a 'Renaissance Theme' and I am in fact in my family colors(kilt). Takes a real man to wear a skirt. Check the pics, it was a beautiful ceremony, disregard any pictures I look drunk in.

Wedding number two was this Saturday, when my other brother Morgan married his now-wife...er...Morgan. I'm sure THOSE pictures will be up soon enough, and I filmed most of the reception as a gift so I'm (all to apparently) not as drunk. Both were good times, and I've proven that even with a bum knee and a bruised ass(see: ego) I can still limbo like a champ.

I think Dina and Rob are up next. 2 down, 4 to go...oye...

So that's life over here. Jaunts all around the east coast, good times, just the way I'd want it.

Before I go, I wanted to share something that was both funny and devastating to my perception of my childhood. According to the following video a "friend" sent me, good ole' (Uncle) Walt Disney wasn't very creative in his early years. I loved Robin Hood too...sniffle...

Disney? Creative? Pfft.

I don't care what she says, it was different times back then, Disney has more than fixed it's problems. I still like Brer Rabbit.

Alright everybody, I know I had mentioned working on a major project before and said when I could I'd give details.... well, the official press conference went up yesterday so now I can!

I was tagged to help scribe and later assoc. produce(which basically means sit and watch) the next comedy out of Dreamworks entitled "Benny And The Jet". here's the official description!

Benny And The Jet, the next out of the minds behind great buddy cop movies such as STEEL and Showtime, strike again with the combined experience and awe of Christopher Walken and William Shatner!

Benny Carlatto(Shatner) was a no-nonsense cop on the tough beats in Chicago, when he was assigned a loaded gun of a partner in Johnny "The Jet" Cage(Walken). After a fiasco ending with the Mayor's old '67 exploding, Benny and The Jet take the only job with a badge left to them: Public Safety. Protecting tiny dancers at the local ballet and housewives at the Pottery Barn might not seem like much, until rogue Major Tom Dillings threatens the entire city! Only benny And The Jet, with their combined know-how and off-kilter tactics, can stop it before the candles blow out!

I'm not going to lie, working around Christopher Walken and William Shatner has been inspirational to say the least. Shatner is a lot cooler than anyone gives him credit for, and genuinely loves doing the "priceline negotiator" thing all the time. Walken is...well... he's a character. So here's the poster, straight from the IMDB page. I'll be keeping you guys updated, from what I've heard theyre looking at an early '10 release. I'll be in big screen credits, woo!

Alright guys, can't wait to keep you all updated on what's coming up in my life, so I'll catch you all when I have more to tell!

Oh, btw....

...April Fools.

It seems like only yesterday checking myspace and updating the world on your own personal little piece of it all was the big thing to do, then you get working and things start rolling, and next thing you know it's been three months and nobody knows what happened to you!

It could also be because the world has moved on to twitter and facebook, so myspace doesn't get much love.

Well, I'm not one for 'tweeting', 'twittering', 'twottering'.... whatever they call it.

And as much as I'm plugged in to facebook like everybody else, I have a little heart for my myspace roots, so I'll take a page out of Tim(Carr)'s book and start linking these over.

Speaking of the necessitous Tim & Tim, lots has been in the works since last I blogged. There's some big things on the horizon, which I'll be posting about later this week after a crucial meeting. With the continuing buzz over LEAF (which I have no idea why, I mean I love it and all but it's STILL going!) we're poised in the right spot and we're striking hard.

All that aside, life's been good. Filmwork in Philly is (tentatively) done for a bit, but it's looking like I might be getting some work in D.C. which I'm excited about. Oh, and I'm on the Discovery Channel freelance team now, so if Mike Rowe gets a dirty job in the area, you bet your ass I'm in the muck next to him.

So until I update later this week, take care everyone!

Monday, January 12, 2009
So it's a beautiful morning... well, aside from it being a Monday morning.... and it being freezing cold... and knowing I've got work to do in the freezing cold... and it's the morning...

Ok, well the morning part doesn't bother me so much, so let's just say 'it's a morning'. But it doesn't matter how cold or Mondayish it may be, because the Giants won last night and nothing can take my spirits down.

This would be the point in this entry where all the Giants fans I know are going "pssh, jerk" and all my Eagles friends are saying "dumbass", one in particular probably ironing a Bobby Hoying jersey right now with my name on it saying "You can't fool me we had a bet!"

So no, the Giants didn't win, but this is MY world and MY blog so I'm going to tell the story like this:

Last weekend kicked off with a visit to the spectrum to see Jeff Dunham. Me and my compadres sat third row from thr front, a grand seven feet from the stage. Jeff and Guitar Guy are sitting there with Achmed, cracking jokes, when I yell out "That's What She Said!" and the Spectrum bursts with laughter. Jeff invites me and my buds backstage after the show for Yuengling, which was cool and strange seeing as every one of his puppets were out and he ordered pints for all of them... except for Jose'. He had a Corona.

Even stranger, Peanut's pint was empty when we left. Weird.

I spend my remaining week of freedom before the world starts turning again traveling. I see DC, NYC, France, and even make a stop in Belgium to say "What the hell are we doing in Belgium, I need to get back home."

Friday my brother and I are in New York again, he's going to his internship with Nickelodeon. I decide to go for a walk, and accidentally stumble upon a Scorcese movie being filmed. His camera operator is out with the measles, and he's worried his perfect shot will be lost. I puff my chest and run to his aid, ready to save the day.

And he tells me to f*&! off.

Hey, I said I was telling the story my way, but a man's imagination can only stretch reality so far.

I shrug my shoulders and head to Bryant Park where I enjoy their marvelous cafe' and some ice skating. I decide I still have time to kill and make my way to Serendipity3, where I enjoy a delicious frozen mint hot chocolate and an excellent conversation with a man I later realize is Eddie Izzard. Funny guy.

Heading back to the Viacom building, I pick up Chris and we make our leave, promising our beloved city we would return soon. On the way back to Trenton, we notice two old men (I mean like 86 years old) wrestling in the traincar in front of us. We pull out the Black n' White cookies we bought and watch the show. It was like WWE in extreme slow motion, but surprisingly spritely and acrobatic for two old men. The man in the blue tights beat the man in the red tights with an impressive triple-axle powerbomb, and gloated the entire way back to Trenton about how in his glory days it would have been a quadruple-axle.

The drive through Jersey is brisk, we make it back to DE with plenty of time to stop at Cheeseburger in Paradise. Chris takes two burgers over to Borders so him and his girlfriend can enjoy them while reading Tolstoy, and I am introduced to the wonders of Chocolate Nachos by a certain lovely lady as we share track injury horror stories.

Saturday, after running 4 miles at Delrec, I hop over to the B-Dubs to watch the games with the Y crew. In between halves I get a phonecall from Kodi, who is now the chairman of Seaton Designs, asking me to make some time to come down and film President Obama for the Inauguration. I humbly agree.

Sunday Tim Carr and I sit in the VIP at the ESPN Zone in Times Square and watch the Giants struggle against the Eagles; but in a display that can only be defined as classic, Pierce makes Westbrook fumble, picks it up, and runs a 42 yard defensive touchdown for the win. To celebrate, I hand Tim Carr a Manning Jersey, hop up to Marietti's in the Upper East Side, and spend the night celebrating with the Offensive Line. Hixon buys me a beer after I tell him a hilarious joke about Cat Burglars. Our fun is interrupted for only a second when Regis calls to doublecheck our booking on his show to talk about LEAF, and the NFL name Tim Carr and I patrons to the sport.

Right before heading home we all watch the Golden Globes, and decide we had enough to drink after Colin Farrell's victory speech sounded like this:

"Oiy, ahm Colin Fawell, and oi tinks oi dahservfed dis 'ere award fer moi fwick, En Brooche'(In Bruges). Oi mean, look awt me! Oi's a man, an oi made meesewlf croiy fer dat moivefie. Das actin, innit? Oiy's dinnae efen get tah snog da fit bird, and look at me? Oiy'd snog meesewlf ifn ah could, innit. An Oiys straight asan arrah. Wewlls, oiy'd snog Heaf too. Rest es soul, innit. An dat Voldymort fellah, howd  deys make em look uuman? Inna he sappowsed tah be bawld and whoite?!"

We laughed, and left.

Oh what a dream. But, in reality, we sat six feet away from Jeff Dunham and laughed hysterically. We left in a great mood, but I still think Jose' would have a Corona and Peanut would down his beer like a champ.

I helped an old school friend who does film critique's now with a couple movies, so in a very short timespan I watched Frost/Nixon(again), Valkyrie(again), In Bruges(again), Ghost Town, Bedtime Stories, and Defiance. Most of which were good. I traveled back and forth to Philadelphia quite a bit, but seeing as Im all but a legal resident of the city, the surprising part is that I kept coming back to Delaware

I managed to catch up with old friends, which was awesome, and Friday I was in NYC as my bro started his internship for Nickelodeon. I did walk on a set, no idea whos, and the cinematographer lost a contact so couldn't find the gradient switch. I helped him, he thanked me, and I went about my business.

Lunch at Bryant Park, followed by a little ice skating was great. Ironically I later fall on my ass on a patch of ice. Figures.

Mint frozen hot chocolate is a new sin of mine... but Serendipity3 wasn't open when I got there

On the train back two old guys started cussing at each other, but the most action I saw was one almost lost his dentures mid-vulgarities.

Chris got a little tipsy at Cheeseburger in Paradise, wanted to go serve his gf a burger at her work at Borders, but decided against it. I think his reasoning was he'd get ketchup on the books. Chocolate nachos are still awesome over shared track injuries.

Saturday after running 3 miles at Delrec and feeling like I might collapse, I go do some scriptwork and then head to BDubs with my Y fam. Kodi lets me know he's getting the hell out of dodge for the Inauguration, but is job searching in the Philly area. We rejoice.

And we all know how Sunday went, which means next Sunday Tim Carr and I watch the game as I sit in green.

I didn't see Colin's acceptance speech, but I'd like to think I'm accurate

Time for the Happy Morale: In Hindsight, it was a great week. I don't need my football team to win (otherwise I wouldn't be a Giants fan, bong!) or to travel all over(all the time), with true friends and a creative drive, I'm perfectly happy. Queue the Awes and Heartfelt Sighs.

Oh, and the stuff about LEAF? Guess you just have to wait and see eh.

Kudos to anyone who picked up that vague and misinterpreted Beatles reference...

Well everyone, it's the end of the year. 2008 will cease to exist in about 48 hours and 2009 will take over as the new reality.

As is customary, I normally do a lengthy and generally long-winded round-up of events this past year, but since I'm pressed for time, I'll give you the abridged version.

2008, oh what a year. I travelled and saw sights across the US. I went to festivals and rubbed elbows with celebs. I garnered respect from my peers, I taught a new generation of would-be filmmakers. I went out on a limb for some and succeeded, I went out on a limb for others and failed. I saw a project of mine fall on its' face, and another breed interest for top production. I played in theatres from NYC to San Diego and back again. I reacquainted myself with old friends, lost a few new ones, and was reminded which ones will be there for the long haul. I did nice things that were appreciated, some that weren't, but felt good about all of them when I did them. I'm sure I did some shitty things too, hopefully not too shitty.

I saw the west coast for the first time. I tasted true success in my career for the first time. I attended my first wedding, bought my first suit, ate my first crab, and bought my first "P-coat".

For the first time in a long time, I had my faith in the Y reinvigorated, my doubts about my future wiped clean, and managed 2 miles without wanting to die. For the first time in a long time I ventured outside of the USA, I put myself out there for someone, and I experienced the dreaded "Guinnes hangover".

I continued to be reliable and stubborn, I continued to be a voice of reason for my friends, I continued to better myself, continued to be more open... and I continued my love affair with clementines.

I would like to think I didn't change this year, but rather grew a little wiser and gained a bit more perspective.

As always, I end my 'End Of The Year Blog' with the Ten Things I should have said or would have said to ten different people this year but didn't. It wipes the slate clean, and clears the mind, you should try it:

1) I know we're all professionals, but don't forget that at the end of the day a lot of people on this project are doing it (me included) firstly because we're your friends. We may better from the work, but we're still doing it for you. Don't lose sight of that.

2) You're rushing things waaay too fast. You need to take a breath and slow your road. I just kinda wish i had been down there so I could have kept your speed in check.

3) You know that feeling you have when you're just meant to be family? Thats you and me my ebony brother We have to end up in the same vicinity so our wacky exploits can ensue.

4) I know I've said thank you numerous times, but I need to say it again. Thank You.

5) Once things start going our way, if you give me the chance, I know I have the ideas to make it big.(edit: bigger than already)

6) Just cut your damn hair already, I really don't want to have to come back to camp.

7) I'm glad that you and I grew close working this summer. I don't think I ever really knew you until this past year. BTW, take it easy on the baby-making, you're stressing out enough with just two

8) You're still my brother, but there's definitely days you just need a swift kick in the ass. I love ya though.

9) Thanks for being predictable

10) You're amazing. Don't change that.

And last but not least; To all the people who treated me well this year, Thank You. To all those who didn't... well I probably honestly don't care enough about you to worry. If I've done you wrong I am sorry... unless you deserved it

Alright 2008, you weren't that bad. 2009, you better ROCK.

Thursday, December 25, 2008

It is most definitely that time of the year again... my bank account can attest for that.

But it's all for the good of seeing my friends and family smile, right? Right. The most exciting part about this time every year is certainly the trip back to New York. Granted, it hasn't been long at all since I've been to NY (actually, it's been about a week) but being there with fam is always different.

So this is my Happy Holidays wish to you, and I hope that this season finds you in good spirits, or at least helps to put you in them. Don't Forget! Between now and new years I'll have but one more blog, the annual year end wrap up, which is always a good read!

cya then, Happy(Christmas)(Hannukah)(Kwanzaa)(Ramadan)(Festivus)(TimisAwesome)

I hear that last holiday has become very popular in recent years.

At least it feels like the best week ever. So what exactly would denotate the "Best" week ever, you say? That would be a week filled with great things that promise to continue past said best week. It's all very technical when you get down to the math of it.

See Above Formula For Figuring Out Best-Week Status.

Ok seriously, let's get down to the week itself. We start off with Sunday, and like any Sunday should, mine set the mood for the rest of the week. I finished all my storyboards, I went for a run (which doesn't sound exciting but consider I haven't run in about three weeks) without dying, and of course....

My boys in blue keep it going. 11-1 anyone? Anyone??

Alright enough sports gloating. Monday comes around, and I get all my B.S. paperwork for the entire week out of the way. Quite exciting. That's followed with my Monday jaunt to Philly joined by my good friend Kodi.

And it's funny, but for all the time I spend in that city now what with my unrequited love affair I'm having with it (NYC you're still 1 in my heart) I had never been to Pat's and Geno's. Doesn't sound that exciting when you realize you're just visiting cheesesteak shops, but WOW. I didn't realize that it was like a secret greasy food war in that part of the city. Once we get out of harm's way, I come upon the UArts master Class I've been a part of, and it's been decided that it's time to start making something happen.

Yeah... I know not having anything definitive at this point shouldn't be something to celebrate, but just the idea that I was surrounded by like-minded individuals again that wanted to work made me feel good.

TUESDAY is when it starts getting a little crazy. So there's this documentary I worked .. and have mentioned a few times... maybe you heard of it?

Hey, maybe you've been one of the lucky many that have seen it? LEAF?

Tim(Carr) lets me know Tuesday that our run through the West Coast is looking prominent. Between Tuesday and Friday, Tim would be in a string of interviews that brought new attention to this project! I hear that the showing for Wednesday is looking good, and I'm stoked about San Diego!

Wednesday: The showing kicks in. I have a new photo in the work photos section that gives a little bit of an idea of what we had, but in case you can't tell, that would be a SOLD OUT THEATER. Yep. Oh, and I forgot to mention, after the seats sold out, more people came in and sat in the isle way.

I'm going to have a pompous bragging moment real quick: The last movie I ever went to where people sat in the isle way was the first Lord Of The Rings film.

One LEAF to rule them all?

Needless to say it was a large crowd at a great venue, which made it ever more imperative for us to kill at that show. So how did we do?We Killed.
The San Diego Tribune Says So.

Just one of the many interviews Tim(Carr) went on and continued on straight through to Friday.

So Thursday I celebrate my father's birth best I can with everything going on and news of this great showing dancing through my head.... and then I hear that LEAF is being shown at Qualcomm Stadium before the Chargers' game on Thursday.

Yeah. Oh, not to mention, that amidst a not-so-great season, the Chargers CRUSHED The Raiders that game. Coincidence? Who knows, but this documentary is quickly becoming a lucky charm!

Friday I was on a secret mission (TBD what details I can divulge) in NYC. I went with my bro Chris, as he had an interview with Nickelodeon there.

Oh, btw, congrats to Chris for nailing it and getting the internship with Nickelodeon! We keep the biz in the family

Friday night I make it back down to Delaware(finally) and figure myself for a relaxing weekend. Not so much.

After killing all my Xmas shopping Saturday, I hooked up with my buddy Aaron who was back in town and went for drinks at our favorite watering hole, Piece Of Ireland. Little did we know this Sat. was being hosted by Guinness, with Guinness girls and everything. They were having some strange contest going on, so we decided to check. Plus it looked like people were getting free Guinness.

Turns out, it was the 'Pour Your Own Pint" contest, where they had everyone at the bar (and it was a packed Saturday so it took forever) learn to pour a Guinness properly, and then the Guinness girls and the officionado would rate the pours and determine a 1st 2nd and 3rd place holder. Of COURSE we had to give it a go, it's a win-win! At the very least, you get a Free Guinness!

So after our free pours (and then some, we didnt pay for a single pint the whole night!) they announce the final round to determine 1st 2nd and 3rd place out of six people. I ended up being in the competition, which was pouring a perfect pint complete with shamrock in the top, and in case you don't see where this is going, I'll spell it out for you: 14 years of fine arts training paid off.

Apparently the pics are going up on the site at some point in time, so when that happens I'll nab the link.

To wrap it all up, I've got great work on the horizon, important people interested in LEAF, which is KILLING in the West Coast, I worked on a doc that played at an NFL stadium, went to NYC, celebrated success with my bro, won a Guinness contest and drank free beer(plus got a nifty bottle opener and jacket) all Saturday. I can say this with confidence:

Good Times.

Ok next week, let's see what you got
Thursday, December 04, 2008
I'm quickly running out of time in my time to updates ratio. I already had to update a previous blog(see under) the next day after posting it, and NOW I'm doing it again. Because we just can't get enough.

Needless to say, before I had thought my week was going to be pretty complacent. Instead, LEAF will be playing at QUALCOMM STADIUM (That's right, home of The Chargers) before the game tonight. Better yet, I'll be in NYC tomorrow.

Actually, so will my brother. He's got an interview with Viacom for their animation department in the MTV building, so everyone be sure to wish him luck. After he's done his interview we're catching up and enjoying some sights and a day away from the crazy excitement that has been my life
Tuesday, December 02, 2008

Hey everyone, after what can only be described as a whirlwind of a week both personally and professionally, I'm taking a break from my love affair with Philadelphia to bring you news with a west-coast style. It seems now, as the playoffs in the NFL draw near and teams settle into accepting whether they have a shot or not, the San Diego Chargers are one of the many that could use a distraction away from their current run.

And apparently I'm not the only one to think that! Hot off the presses, cover material even(!), we have today's San Diego Tribune:
LEAF Hits The West!

My favorite quote in this article being (Tim Carr)said he had a couple of phone conversations with Leaf about the movie and was hoping Leaf would agree to a cameo, but that their talks "got progressively less cordial."

UPDATE
: That's not all, folks! Tim(Carr) explains more in the official LEAf blog:
Leaf in Cali!

Classic Leaf. It's gonna be a big week folks. Leaf is still rockin', Tim(Carr) and I are still workin', and apparently I might be getting in the Cabaret business... but that's TBD. More when I have time to chat, until then- catch the screening!
Sunday, November 23, 2008
It really has been a hot minute since the last time I wrote here, hasn't it? Take it on word of faith that it's a good sign.

Since last I blogged, my time and energy has been solely devoted to my work... and Philadelphia... there's going to be some GREAT things coming out of this UArts Master's class, trust me.

Not to mention the commission I worked on for a commerical ad was greenlit, regardless of my badly drawn storyboards (at least I thought they were bad).

AND there will be some very awesome things coming from the Tim & Tim collabo soon my friends. You will NOT be disappointed

More importantly, I wanted to use my fleeting free time here to wish a Happy Thanksgiving (or All Hallowsgiving pt.2 for those of you that pay attention) to everyone! I'm lucky in that this Thanksgiving season is treating me well. I had a really cool Thanksgiving Potluck with all my DE Y Crew friends, I'll be rockin a 'The-Night-Before' Thanksgiving good time, and even though I'm working the first half of the day, should still be able to enjoy Thanksgiving proper. Might even be able to catch the parade in Philly depending on how much work I get done.

Which sounds like a perfect segway to get me back to work. Alright all you readers, Happy Thanksgiving(All Hallowsgiving pt.2)!!!
