November’s Full Moon
continues the Harvest Moon cycle, also called The Hunter’s Moon mainly because
deer are abundant at this time, but alternately known as the Frost Moon or The
Beaver Moon. The Frost Moon is pretty self-explanatory – frost is indeed evident
as the days grow colder. The Beaver Moon gets its name from watching these
rodents preparing for winter and insulating their lairs (and because they were
targeted by hunters in earlier times because their pelts made for warm winter
wear). ....
.. ..
There is a chill in the air,
making Air the prominent element during this Full Moon, the perfect time to
honor Lucifer, who brings Light to the dark nights and also Inspiration and
Enlightenment. ....
.. ..
Again, since this is still
Fall, other ways of enhancing your ceremony this time around is the Feasting,
the abundance of Autumn’s offerings – pumpkin pie immediately comes to mind, as
do apples and cider, or cakes or cupcakes made with a cinnamon-y Spice flavor.
OR, in honor of the “Frost Moon”, serve up some ice-cold smoothies or ice cream
treats. Or adding Autumn or deer or beaver-themed decorations to your overall
celebration space. ....
.. ..
For 2009, this Full Moon
falls on Monday, Nov. 2. This is close enough to Samhain to tap into those
energies as well!....

October’s Full Moon continues
the Harvest Moon cycle, this one being known as the Hunter’s Moon or Blood
Moon, which is pretty self-explanatory. Since the bright moon rises shortly
after sunset and remains visible pretty much all night on this night in the
Northern Hemisphere, it assisted nocturnal hunters in finding prey. Sacrifices
of thanks for the growing season were not uncommon. It is also traditionally a time of feasting
and bonfires.....
.. ..
Because of the Bonfires and
Campfires connection with this full moon, energies of the element of fire
abound – which of course is the Southern realm of Satan himself. Remember to
honor Satan and his attributes of Lust, Truth, the fire of Lifeforce and
Inspiration.....
.. ..
Other ways of enhancing your
ceremony this time around is the Feasting, the abundance of Autumn’s offerings
– pumpkin pie immediately comes to mind, as does corn on the cob, apples (maybe sliced and served with caramel
dip) and cider, or cakes or cupcakes made with a cinnamon-y Spice flavor. ....
.. ..
For 2009, this Full Moon is Sunday,
Oct. 4.

The September Full Moon is
known as the Harvest Moon, Blood Moon, Corn Moon, Barley Moon.....
.. ..
The Harvest Moon rises
shortly after Sunset near the autumnal equinox. It also notoriously appears
larger than other full moons, and has a hint of yellow color. In more pastoral
times, farmers would use this added light to harvest crops. It was also a time
when the beginning of thinning the herds (hence “Blood Moon”), some of which
were sacrifices of Thanks for a successful growing season.....
.. ..
(In the Southern hemisphere,
the opposite is true – on this night, there will be an extra long time between
sunset and moonrise)....
.. ..
Some suggestions for
enhancing this Full Moon experience could be as simple as adding beer (barley)
and some form of corn – perhaps cornbread or popcorn – to the after-ceremony
feasting, and/or spinning Blue Oyster Cult’s chilling song “Harvest Moon” from
either their http://www. amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0000061RB/crowgrrl-20 Heaven Forbid ....
or “A Long Day’s Night” http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00006JJ1Y/crowgrrl-20 A Long Day’s Night ....
albums.....
.. ..
Or deeper and more profound
additions. This is a great time -
since it’s close to the Equinox - to ponder the Eleusinian Mysteries, secrets of
life/death/rebirth and the Demeter/Persephone connections. Maybe even re-watch “The
Wicker Man” (Personally I prefer the original Sir Christopher Lee version). ....
.. ..
Also, since the Harvest
Moon’s traditions are closely tied to energies of Earth, you should also honor
Belial, whose domain also includes Abundance, Prosperity, and Lust and
Sensuality. Use your imaginations. ....
.. ..
For 2009, this Full Moon is Friday,
Sept. 4. ....

I found the following in the Perch in-box, and wanted to pass along the opportunity for anyone interested. "Noted independent filmmaker and special effects artist Tim Davis (New Jack City, Invaders) needs extras to play zombies for the final shooting days on his movie. He needs an army of zombies on Sunday August 30th, and again the weekend of September 12-13. Anyone who is seriously interested – including makeup artists - in participating should contact him at mmjvideo@aol.com for details."

there are two kittens whose mother was killed by a car in Lebanon County near Jonestown, PA. They appear to be 2 or 3 weeks old, one male, one female; and are currently on formula, but their rescuer can't keep them.
The shelter in that area is NOT a No-Kill shelter, and turning the kittens over to them is a sure death sentence.
Please help get the word out - these kittens need a safe home, temporary or permanent.
