Hey ya'll.
We are quite honored to have been invited to play a benefit show this
coming Tuesday at UCLA. Unfortunately the show is NOT open to the
public. However, we have been told we may prepare a list of anyone who would like to attend of up to 100 people!

If
you are planning to attend this show and be one of the 100 non UCLA
students allowed to attend, please send us a myspace message by noon
Monday 04/20. If you would like to come and don't have a myspace, have a friend who does message for you :)

Please be sure to include your real name in the message as photo ID may be requested upon arrival at UCLA.

First messages sent first served.

All entries must be in by Monday morning as we will need a day to get the list to UCLA and to notify anyone that does not fall into the 100 limit.

We still have many spots available.

Here is some information about the show and the cause we are supporting.
Please note this is a benefit show and is free but there is a $10 suggested donation.

Much Love,
Daphne Loves Derby

You
are invited to the 3rd Annual Mighty Mic Human Rights Awareness Concert
at UCLA, Benefit for Burma on Tuesday, April 21st @ 6pm in Ackerman
Grand Ballroom. Burma is a country that has been under the rule of an
all-oppressive military junta for 43 years, making it the 4th least
free country in the world. Join us in learning more about the human
rights violations, including the abuse of ethnic minorities, mass rape
of women, forced labor, mandatory relocations, and child soldiers. The
concert will feature performances by BLACKALICIOUS, DAPHNE LOVES DERBY,
AUDIBLE MAINFRAME, JARELL PERRY & BRANDON CONTRERAS. Speakers will
include Edith Mirante of Project Maje - a Burma awareness group, exiled
Burmese journalist Min Zin, activist Khin Ohmar and the All-Burma Monks
Alliance.

Mighty
Mic Human Rights Awareness Concert is a student-run non-profit concert
that attracts about 2,000 attendees annually and is fast becoming a
beloved UCLA tradition. Last year, Mighty Mic raised over $20,000 for
the refugees of the genocide in Darfur. This year, Mighty Mic will
highlight the struggle for human rights in Benefit For Burma 2009’s
multi-media showcase, which will feature an on-site art gallery,
interactive educational activities, and booth space for non-profits,
sponsors, and student-..organizations,..as well as relevant educational content in the form of speakers and videos which will entertain, inform, and inspire attendees.

Check out our website at www...mightymic.org
or visit us on Bruinwalk for details on how to get tickets. A $10
donation is strongly recommended. All proceeds go to Doctors Without
Borders and U.S. Campaign for Burma.

Sorry for being gone for so long friends. Been too busy getting ready for the alien invasion. Something like that...

I hope you haven't forgotten about us. We just needed some time to breathe and age properly. Like wine... or a methuselah tree.

Please enjoy the new song. We have written over 30 in the past year... Threw most of them away... Survival of the fittest you know? Actually I don't know.

There will be more songs to be posted in the coming weeks. Love you all so much

Meta Lyrics:

Everyone's giving blood from their tongue… just in case they can't dream out loud. No one here has a clue to the calm words of love… so we tend to shout. Once we are dirt, all the mountains of men will fall. Once we are gone, all the mountains of men will fall. They will fall.

God at times it feels like we've been left here alone forever more. God I'm fighting to swim, but my wrongs drag me back to the bloody shore. We will fall.

I'm a lover. I'm a Killer. I'm a sinner and saint. I can fly when I'm dreaming, but I sink when awake.

We posted all this info in a bulletin a while back but we're stupid and forgot to post a blog about it as well. So here it is again...

To the awesome faithful fans of DLD:

Not really sure how to start this, but after countless hours of thinking, praying, and really weighing out my life, I (Spencer) have decided to step away from Daphne.

It is a decision I didn't take lightly and I feel I have avoided for quite some time. I feel as if I have some personal issues in my life to work out, ones much too complicated to write in a simple blog, that simply won't get sorted out while touring and being on the road as often as the guys are.

While in the band, I really poured my heart and soul into it, and it's going to be hard to leave. At the end of the day, it's just something I have to do and I hope you all can understand. I'm really going to miss being with the guys, touring, meeting and hanging out with SO SO SO many awesome people everywhere, and just living the adventurous life we had. I love everyone in the band deeply and I consider them my brothers. They are great guys and from what I know I am beyond stoked to hear what comes of the new music they are coming up with. I can't wait to see where they go!

Thanks for being awesome!

Spencer

on the flight to Austin, I was watching Into the Wild... and there was a quote at the beginning of the movie. It's keeping me up now; so I would like to share it with you.

There is a pleasure in the pathless woods,
There is a rapture on the lonely shore,
There is society, where none intrudes,
By the deep sea, and music in its roar:
I love not man the less, but Nature more,
From these our interviews, in which I steal
From all I may be, or have been before,
To mingle with the Universe, and feel
What I can ne'er express, yet cannot all conceal.

Lord Byron

I want to thank everyone at UT for helping us out so much! Everything here was beautiful. I heard it was snowing back home still... so I am going to miss the Texas sun very much.

i am excited for the flight home today because I plan on watching some Disney movies. the best ever.

Hey Myspacers,

This short tour has been amazing so far.  Getting to play the Mainstage of Bamboozle was really special and the response we have been getting for the 4 new songs we are playing has given us even more excitement to get home and finish writing.  We are looking forward to the rest of these shows coming up and hope to see many more of you.  For everywhere we haven’t come on this tour, we will be coming back as soon as we finish writing/recording this record.  We are more excited about the new songs we are writing than we have ever been in this band and hopefully you will all feel the same.  Stay close as we want to give you all a taste of our new songs as soon as we can.

Much love,

DLD

Hello Friends,

Checking in from snowy Seattle.  We just got word that our video for Stranger will be playing on MTVu quite frequently starting next week so look out for that.

Writing is coming along really well.  Some exciting ideas so far and a lot more to come.  Stay tuned for much more info and updates on this.

We will be playing Bamboozle on April 5th and have some college shows booked around that which we will be announcing soon.  We still may add a couple more so if you have the power to bring us to your campus, send us a message.

And finally, they keep extending the possibilities of these Myspace players so now we can have something like 6 songs up.  We will add some old favorites and maybe another new song soon!

Much Love,

DLD

Hello everyone.

We are officially home and have slept in our own beds for two nights now! The homecoming show last night was amazing. We couldn't have asked for more. Thanks to everyone who came out and supported our return home.

I want to take this time to sincerely thank every last person who came out to one of the shows this tour. You helped make this one of the best tours yet! We had an absolute blast! To This Providence, The Higher and Reign of Kindo, we had so much fun with you guys and will miss you dearly. I know the friendships myself and the rest of the guys formed this tour are going to last a long time.

Now that we're home we are going to enjoy the holidays with our friends and families. We are simultaneously going to write write write! We hope to start recording for a new album sometime early next year. We are as optimistic as possible about how the writing has started and anticipate this being the best Daphne album yet!

Again, thank you so much to everyone who came out to the shows. We love you and will miss you all. Until next time.

David
Daphne Loves Derby

P.S. Our van's transmission was fixed just in time for the rest of the guys to make it our homecoming to play full band. It was a very happy day.

And if anyone has seen the video of the price is right, I am finally going to be taking my trip to Spain in early February. YAY!!!

Current mood:  amused
our van broke again. i think we have the worst luck ever.

good news is that we went to a pizza buffet next to our hotel, and ate our depression away. the cinnamon rolls were premium... if you are ever stuck in Abilene, TX..... go to cici's pizza. forget the pizza and pasta; go straight to the cinnamon rolls.

more good news is that Seahawks are winning right now. i watched david run out of the bathroom and dance like a robot after a touchdown. im not gonna lie... other than that, everything sucks right now. in fact, if seahawks lose... im gonna run away to alaska and live with wolves for the rest of my life.

tomorrow, david and i will fly out of here to finish the tour with an acoustic set. the others have to stay here.

it's been a long day. month. no, i actually cant believe we've survived this year. i cant wait to get home and write a million songs. goodnight
