Ok...it was Friday night...Thursday was a boring night so foget it happened.  Anywho...Friday I only had training for half the day.  The other half of the day I went to watch a movie (Forbidden Kingdom and it was good...like the 2008 version of Neverending Story).  I also went walking around and took the pics of the Gateway (the big 144 store shoping center).  Then grabbed me some subway and hit the 20 min walk back to the hotel....hehe "Back to the hotel...".

I did some google searching and got some local maps of the area from the front desk of what bars/clubs were around.  Come on people...did u actually think I wouldn't go out to party any in SLC?  Well, I marked about 3 spots I wanted to hit that sounded good and was within 5 or 6 blocks...gotta be able to stagger back.  It was early so I ate my subway and waited for the night.

Around 6:30pm or so I decided to go down to the hotel bar, get a drink and ask which spots were hot and when everyone went out.  Me and the bar tender hit it off well!  He mapped my whole night out and told me that 10pm was the time people went out.  I watched tv and was drinking my guiness when a very hott blonde woman came in and sit two seats down from me.  I could tell she was already drunk and it was barely 7pm.  She ordered some expensive drink and announced that she had been drinking since 1pm.  WOW is what I thought.

Soon after a couple came in and wanted to sit at the bar.  The drunk woman .... moves down to the seat next to me so they could.  Nice of her...  Now she noticed me and how me and the bar tender was chilling and kinda hanging out talking about me hitting the clubs.  She introduces herself to me...family of doctors...she is a doctor working in her fathers' office...has bf back home...from North Carolina and here for a summit or such....parent hate she gets effed up all the time...she is staying in their room.  I couldn't help but laugh.  She said she overheard that I was going out and asked if she could go.  I knew I should have blew her off...but I was drinking and she was very hott and well...im a stupid guy.  I said yeah....sure.

Well, we paid and left the bar about 8pm or so cuz she haaad to go right then and couldn't wait.  Even though i told her no one went out till 10pm.  We go to the first bar.  She is holding up ok.  Im fine at this point.  It is dead....they were actually weighing guys for a UFC type of fight the next night.  Weird...but I kinda wished I could have seen the fight the next day.  We went to the bar.  She turned and ased if I like Patron or not.  I said suurree.  She ordered us each 2 shots of Patron and 3 budlights.  She then forced me (hehe forced) to drink all of mine within 15 mins.  She had no prob downing hers.  Ok...now I am buzzin.

Next bar was a joke...dead too...but of course she wanted to buy more Patron and beer.  I took one shot and took a beer and kinda escaped away from the bar.  She kept drinking and I watched from the other side of the bar.  I knew I was in trouble.

Third bar...the one I actually was excited about was up.  It was close to 9:30...there was a line...woohoo.  Well, it was within view and the girl I was with couldn't walk anymore in her high heals.  She jumped on my back and I carried her for almost half a block to the line at the club.  Whew!  Ok...now for some fun I thought.  NOT ...   The bouncer wouldn't let the girl with me in cuz she was obviously too drunk.  And she was.  Could barely talk.  I said to him, "She is with me and I will watch her."  He said I could go in but not her.  I was at that moment torn...  Do the right thing and take care of her cuz she couldn't herself?  Or go on in since I wasn't her caretaker and wasn't her date.  Well, the ginger with a heart (or maybe just stupid) waved down a cab and took her back to the hotel.  Once there, I took her to her floor and said goodnight.  I then went to the bar to tell my bartender friend the story.

She showed up at the bar...lol.  Yep...night not over yet for me!  She set next to me.  I had already told the bartender the story and he couldn't help but look at me and laugh.  I slyly flipped him off, laughing too.  The girl ordered a drink from the female bartender working that night.  She was refused and offered water instead.  She looks over at me drinking a beer and started to argue.  I butted in and said, "Yeah, give her a water and a menu.".  The girl then started to tell me bout hooow much fun she had tonight and blah..blah...blah.  I made conversation and tried to understand all she was saying, urging her to drink the water.  She ordered food and while eating it she became obnoxious and got mean to me...for nothing!  I think she was mad cuz I was able to drink and she wasn't.  I had enough and cashed out.  The bartender cashed me out but when I got up, he said, "Oh no man...you had a night of nights....im getting off work now and we are gonna hit some shots on me!"  I was like..."hellz yeah!"  He killed me with a bunch of expensive boubon shots and some mixed drinks I don't even remember what they were called.  We actually started drinking away from the girl so I don't know if she got mad or not anymore.  He did tell me they would make sure she made it back to her room and that was enough for me to cut the string.  We closed the bar and I barely remember getting to my room and passing out.

Next morn I felt like 14 layers of shit and had a plane to catch.  It was a long and rough day to say the least.

End of my SLC training/trip and my adventure.
Don't you love adventures?

Well, lets see...I guess first I should say why im here.  EKU sent me here this week for training on a new system we...well, me...will be implementing and administrating later in the year.  It is an 8 month project.

Anywho...

Monday

I flew out of daVille on Monday morn at 7am...argh...that effin hurt!  Lay over was in Chicago.  Now here is the first interesting thing to happen: They needed more seats for my flight to Salt Lake City.  The arirline, United, offered a free round trip ticket within the USA if you gave your seat up and took a later flight.  I did and set there for all together 4 hrs in the Chicago airport.  Wasn't bad...ate McDonalds, had Starbucks and read on a book during that time.  Plus the later flight I had an awesome seat!  Oh yeah!

Got to Salt Lake City at about 4pm...took cab to hotel which was the Marriott downtown (nice).  Got all checked in and went walking around looking for where I had class the next day.  Didn't find it but did see the huge outside mall, The Gateway.  The cab driver from the airport kept saying that the best food was at the Marriott so I ate in its' restaurant Monday evening and the steak was effin awesome!!!!

Tuesday

Got up early and headed out to find where the class was and wouldn't you know...it was at that big outside mall...haha.  Speaking of this mall.  It has 144 stores!  Two stories and goes for blocks.  These aren't outlet mall shops either...nice as stores.  Anyway, I stayed late after class in the lab to work on some of the software then went back to the hotel.  Hey, that made a song pop into my noggin "Back to da hotel...".  Got a pizza from the hotel...got a couple drinks at the bar and watched basketball then went to bed.  Time change made me tired.

Wednesday

Got up and went to class.  Stopped to get a coffee before leaving the hotel.  Took my camera and tried to take pics on the way to class (its a 15 min walk) but the batteries were dead...great...argh!  Class till lunch time and at lunch I went to Dicks to get batteries.  After class I just started walking around for hours looking and taking some pics.  It was fun.  Stopped and got some Wendys.  The weirdest thing was a park I went to.  It was being working on but you could still go through it.  Mainly the sidewalk was being worked on.  Anyways, the weird thing was the park was full of homeless people just sleeping under trees or just anywhere.  I felt a little weird and bad.  Other than that I stopped into a few little stores downtown like a weird crafts place and a huge  Old, New and Rare Books store.  I spent a lot of time at that book store.  Plan to go back.  Finally after several hours of walking around my feet hurt.  I went back to the hotel and chilled out.  Now I am posting this blog.  Soon, I will go downstairs to see what is going on.  It is only 8:30pm here.

Later...

Tagged!!!

The rules in this game of tag are simple -- once you have been tagged, you must write a blog with ten weird, random things, little known facts or habits about yourself. At the end choose at least 10 people to be tagged, list their names and why you chose them. Don't forget to leave a comment that says 'you've been tagged' and tell them to read your latest blog. Since you can't tag me back.. let me know when you've posted your blog so i can see it..

1. I wear slippers at home like an old man...maybe I am an old man...hmmm....nevermind I guess I am!

2. I have to have at least one day of "Joe Time" a week.  What do I do during Joe Time?  Not a damn thing...scratch my ass and pick my nose!

3. I use to shave my um...area....haha!  Sure everyone wanted to know that one!

4. I have a major hangup with "double standards".  They kill me!

6. I watch and enjoy reality TV...well, sometimes.  I know...sad.

7. When I belch, I actually say "beer".  Started out as fun but now it comes natural.  The guys at work try to say other words (wine, coffee, etc) when they belch.

Sorry this is late.
I was lazy and didn't post about my trip even though I was  asked about it several times.  The trip/vacation was to Massanuttan Resort in VA.  If you wanna see it there are pics on my profile of some of it and their website is at http://www.massresort.com/

Lets see...where to start...hmmmm
Maybe from the beginning!

I rode down there with Wendel, Sarah and my god child Abigale.
The drive was about 6 hrs or so to get there.  Weather was good for a trip.
In VA we kept seeing signs for a place called Biscuit World.  Almost every darn exit had one!  We started to make fun of this fact and the odd name.  We made up slogans, songs, and even radio commercials for the place.  Yeah, we are not right in the head.  We ended up stopping at a hot dogg place cuz the two year old wanted a hot dog.  It was one of those hole in the wall places that usually end up with the best food.  The place was small and was connected to a little room full of electronic poker machines.  The food was very good.  We watched some of the football game while we ate and as we left we notice accross the streat was... BISCUIT WOLD!!!!  OMG!  I yelled out one of our previously made up slogans aloud.  Wendel bout pissed hisself.  Sarah told us to stop acting stupid and lets go.  Abigal giggled.  The rest of the trip was just normal and uneventful.

Arriving to the Resort

We arrive and meet up with Sarah's Dad (Dave) and sister (Aleisha).  Now the crew was all together and we then check in.  I noticed a lot of people checking in but also notice that they were about 98 percent older to old people 50+.  There goes my chance of a vacation romance!  My heart sunk!  They gave us all event schedules, IDs, offered a discount card for the resort and local sites ($100) and then we were finished and ready to hit the house/condo.

The place we stayed in was very nice.  Two floors.  Slept 12.  Two jacuzis, 4 decks, kitchens up and downstairs, grill, washing machines, washer and dryer, and 6 TVs.  Nice!  Right behind and off from the deck was one of two resort golf courses.  Beautiful to sit out there and watch people play and enjoy a few brews.  The resort had a ski slop and lodge but it was closed till the right season.  They had hiking trails, markets, canoe/rafting group, indoor water park, outdoor pool, indoor pool, several rec rooms, several game rooms, massage parler, go-carts, put-put course, and much more.  Ok...now back to the trip.

First day we didn't do much.  We were all tired from the drive and all.  We went out to eat at a TG Fridays.  About 10 miles away was where this and lots of stores and restaurants were.  We also since we had kitchens decided to cook as much as we could at the resort.  So we went and shopped after dinner.  Ended up buying like $200 bucks in food!

The next day we planned to drive up to DC (3 hrs) and look about at stuff.  We drove into a metro station and rode on into DC.  We first went to Arlington Cemetary.  I had been but a few others had never seen it.  If you ever get a chance...go.  Then we took the metro to the mall.  The mall had just got finished with some festival or such and was a mess!  Huge empty whit tents everywhere.  Kinda sucked cuz I like to sit on the benches there and people watch.  We hit the National museum first.  Found out that they close at 5:30pm off season so we didn't have time to see any other ones.  We did however get to see a iMax movie about sharks.  It was my first iMax movie and it was pretty cool.  After it closed we just walked around to see some monuments and such.  We walked so much the rest started to whine.  I knew they would where themselves out like that.  I had done the same my first time there.  The drive back was very quite.  They said they wanted to come back two days later.  I thought to myself that I would put money on that they wouldn't.

The next day we hit the indoor water park.  Abigal seemed to love it at first but she got a little scared of one of the bigger slides and ended up wanted to not leave the kiddy area so some had to take turns staying with her.  The rest of us hit slides, rides and the super cool artificial surfing ride.  I found that they served 16 oz beers in the food pavilion and ended up with a good buzz in no time.  I then spent a loooong time on the river ride.  It was basically a little flowing river through the park that you would float around on a big intertube.  Very relaxing and fun when you got surprised with water squirting you randomly from some spots.  There was also a huge buket that would fill up and randomly pour down on whomever was under it at the time.  I never got hit with that guy but laughed my ass off at the others who did.  The look of surprise and sometimes horror was just too much for me!  We stayed for hours there.  And since it was inside...this ginger didn't burn!  After we got back from the water park we all were wore out and most of us took naps.  That night we grilled out and had fun.

Like I knew, no one was ready to go back to DC the next day.  They were still in horror from the first trip there.  Plus 3 hrs is a long drive there and back to see a few hours of DC.  I told them if you want to see DC then you need to stay just outside DC and take the metro in every day and if you want to see the monuments at night, drive around at night and see them.  It is easy at night to park near them and run up to take a look and a quick pic of them.  So instead, the girls went to do some craft sessions, Wendel and DAve went golfing and I went walking around the resort some.  I hit a few arcades, stores, and chilled at a scenic spots.  I also ate at a pizza place that was on site at the main resort building.  The pizza was awesome.  That evening we all got back together and went driving around the ski and hiking areas.  We walked the hiking trails for a while but it got dark fast.  It was dark there by 8:30pm.

Another day Wendel, Dave and I went to a local cavern.  Can't remember the name but it was very cool.  It was actually the first one I had went to.  We all three forgot any cameras.  I was sooo mad cuz there were some pics I would have loved to share from there.  The tour walk was 1.5 miles but it didn't seem that at all.  I am now soooo gonna go to Mamoth Caves sometime soon.

Another day me and Wendel went to a local vineyard.  There are pics of this on my profile.  I actually learned quite a bit from that tour and we for sure got our buzz on a little bit....haha!

One night me and Wendel went to a comedy show there at the resort.  It was family friendly but it had a bar and the guy was fairly funny so we had a good time!

Wendel and Dave played golf a lot, the girls did several craft sessions there and went home with lots of goodies from those, I relaxed a lot and hit the pools, gym, arcades and one day I even had a manicure.  Yes, a manicure!  It was my first and it was nice.  I wanted to get a massage but our schedules and their open slots never did line up enough for me to do it.

We ate at a few local spots.  One always had to do that.  Applebees in VA tastes the same as it does here so I try to always eat at local or unique spots.  They had a breakfast diner that was very good.  They gave you waaaaay too much food too.

The trip back was uneventful for the most part.  The only exciting thing to happen was that me and Wendel was determined to eat at a Biscuit World and did.  Wendel ordered two biscuits and gravy and some other stuff.  When it come out we were horrified by the size of it!  There was noooo way he could have finished it.  The buiscuits were huge!  They would be what we call 'cat head' biscuits +.  They also had wild types of biscuits.  They had a peporoni and cheese biscuit, a vegi biscuit, and just about anything you could think of!  So the trip ended with a stop to Biscuit World.  What a end to a wonderful trip and vacation.

Well, there is prob lots I missed but that is the jist of it peeps!

Finally got around to watching Black Sheep last night.
IMDB link: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0779982/

Well, this movie is a kinda sheep/zombie movie.
It reminded me of a high budget Bad Taste (Peter Jackson) movie.
Just so happens that Weta did the special effects for Black Sheep.
Weta also was behind the special effects of Peter Jacksons' LOTR trilogy.

Ok...back to the movie.
Genetic experiments on sheep; check
Conflict between brothers; check
Returning to ones roots; check
Tree huggers; check
Zombie sheep; check
Gore; check...check...check
Sheep bites human...human turns into giant mutant flesh eating sheep; check
Evil scientist; check
Good ol boy character/friend of main character who you will like; check
Deep compelling story; ummmmm....well....

Ok, I enjoyed watching it.
Horrible movies I have to turn off or end up leaving the room at some point.
Bad movies I read, play the PSP, or surf the net during it.
I actually watched it all the way through.
And didn't read or anything.
Actually paused it for a water break.

If you go in expected a lot you may be dissapointed but if you go in with lower expectations then you may just enjoy the gore fest that is Black Sheep.

Ok, we all hear about how bad Microsoft operating systems are right?
How it has security holes galore in it right?
I always agreed but to pick on M$ and not understand that the only reason the MAC/Apple operating systems and Lynux operating systems don't have security holes is very ignorant if not a reason to turn in your IT badge.  Only about 8 percent out there are MAC users so if you were a hacker and wanted to do the most damange to the public where would you release hacks, exploits and viruses to?  The 8% MAC users or the 75+ percent PC users?  Nuff bout that...

Heard about this new phone out there selling itself crazy?
What is it called again...hmmmm...thinking...thinking...
Oh yeah! iPhone!  From Apple; the makers of iPods and MAC/Apple computers.  There was already one hack on it and now there is another one.  Just goes to show the truth about if you get popular enough with the general public and have high selling numbers then you also become popular with the hacker community.

Here is the second hack so far for Apples' iPhone...

It must be Mac Hacking day because here's another Apple exploit hot off the presses. Some other hackers have found an exploit in the Safari browser on the iPhone. A hacker could throw a website up with the evil code that will give them full access to an iPhone.

This lets them do things like record the audio from the room the iPhone is in, see the text messages sent, check search history in the browser and Google Maps, and more.

Instead of making a worm and not telling Apple, these folks have notified Apple and will help them fix it. They also believe that the worm also affects the PC and Mac version of Apple's Safari browser.

Video of the exploit in action after the jump.

Could vampires have really existed?

Alleged vampires of the 1700s may have had rabies, a disease largely banished by modern medicine, says Dr. Juan Gomez-Alonso.  Vampire stories go back many centuries, but their modern form arose after a major rabies outbreak in central Europe in the early eighteenth century.

Here's the evidence:

1. Vampires bite people; so do 25 percent of men with rabies.
2. Vampires seduce women; rabies patients are often hypersexual, in some cases having sex up to 30 times a day.
3. Dracula appeared on moonlit balconies; rabies patients often have disturbed sleep cycles and insomnia.
4. Vampires shun mirrors and garlic; rabies patients are hypersensitive to strong stimuli, such as lights, mirrors, and garlicky odors.  The mirror connection is so strong, says Gomez-Alonso, that in the past, a man was not considered rabid if he could stand to see his reflection.
5. Where there are vampires, there are often wolves and bats -- two animals that can contract rabies and pass it on through bloody bites.

Joe:
Thought this was very interesting to my peeps.
I had no idea about all the connections (actually any at all) between vampire myths and rabies infected humans.  Makes you think.  I did know of the hair disease that was probably the root of werewolf myth.  Got curious and her is some weird diseases I found:

Vampires
If you thought vampires only exist on Buffy, the Vampire Slayer, I have news for you. There are people out there who go to great lengths to avoid the sun. If they are caught in the sun, their skin will blister. Some of them have pain and blistering as soon as the sun touches their skin. Ok, so they're not actually vampires. They don't drink blood and sleep in coffins, but they do suffer from a rare disease that has vampire-like symptoms.

Blue Skinned
If you complain about your skin color, try being blue. A large family simply known as the blue people lived in the hills around Troublesome Creek in Kentucky until the 1960s. They were the blue Fugates. Most of them lived past the age of 80, with no serious illness - just blue skin. The trait was passed on from generation to generation. This might have something to do with all the inbreeding that happened back then. People with this condition have blue, plum, indigo or almost purple skin.

Werewolf Syndrome
Growing facial hair is a sign of being a man, right? Not if you're a girl, or if the hair covers your face, neck, back and shoulders. Two year-old Abys DeJesus grew dark, hairy patches on her face. Doctors said she has a condition known as Human Werewolf Syndrome. The disease is called werewolf syndrome because people with it look like werewolves - except without the sharp teeth and claws. In Mexico, a large family of men had hair that covered their faces and upper bodies. Two brothers were even offered a part in the X-Files but they turned down the offer.

Sports going MMO?

Over the last several months I have noticed that sports games have gone MMO (Massive Multiplayer Online). First I saw golf with Shot-Online then I heard about a few baseball MMO call Ultimate Baseball Online and now I read today that they are releasing a basketball MMO called Freestyle Street Basketball. So what does this mean to fantasy MMO fans? Nothing at all. All this means is that companies are making some MMOs for other people other than RPG fanatics. We have already seen this in the past with Sims Online and Auto Assault which appeal to the Sim and car battle fans. FPS (first person shooter) fans have Huxley coming out this year and they will probably like Tabula Rasa when it comes out also.

This is a great time to look at what is available (mmorpg.com) and try them. Most of them are free to try or in public beta. Not a fantasy MMO fan? You have many choices out there that are not fantasy RPG themed.

Don't get too excited though...like I did when I read the headline from Gamespot, "Square Enix Announces First VC Title".  I was sooo certain that it was gonna be a classic Final Fantasy game or at the least Chronotrigger.  My hopes and dreams were crushed!

The first Wii VC game from Square/Enix will be SNES action title known as Actraiser this March in Japan (no US release date yet).  I know...I hear your hearts breaking, mine did too.  Below is a list from the same article they gave a list of games comming to Japan in March.  I soooo hope some of these make it over here.  Some I haven't even heard of so I am doubting they will make it  At least you can see what "may" be comming to a US Wii VC channel near you!
