Yowsa.

Jesus F. Christ, the summer is here, and I'm feeling it. Sitting in Sorsapuisto writing this and catching some rays, not bad.

What's up right now is this: We spent the month of May demoing & (near-)perfecting our newest batch of songs at Cosmic Studios and at our practise pad, Herrain Shakkikerho. The third album is taking shape pretty nicely, and we decided to let you in on the scheme by uploading a couple of tunes for your listening pleasure. After all, it's been fucking ages since we put out anything new, so as to prove we're not dead or lazy or anything, here you go! Check them out, sing along and let us know what you think! One thing to keep in mind of course is that this is NOT the final product, but a taste of what you can expect from us in the near future. Who knows what we can still come up with before we enter the studio "for real" later this summer.

As usual, you can scroll down to go through our latest random bullshit storm from the studio and some pics.

Summer is crazy, have fun, catch you later

JANNE: At Cosmic Studios. The plan is to record demos of the 12 best new songs we think we've got, to see where we're at right now considering the next album or some such release. It's headphone soundcheck time. Most of our clothes are still on and there's not one beer in sight. Let's see how it all works out. We should be pretty familiar with all the songs at this point so a quick in 'n out trick is hopefully the case today. 10 hours of work and minimum busting of our balls, maybe? We'll track the vocals later this week.

15:32

JANNE: Monday To Someday in the can except some minor fuzz overdubs and lead gtrs. Then: fore!.

18:06

KIMMO: Let's see if we'll do 12 songs in 10 hours... seems like a lot of work. Hard concentration eats the brain. Still no open beer bottles. Matador felt better without a click. Thankfully Matti is handling Pro Tools. Time for a quick snack now.

OLLI: Air conditioning has to be turned off while recording is on. Oxygen level drops as temperature rises. This is causing sort of dullness and weakness as well.

18.16

LUCA: Three songs have been recorded, feels good. Lisää kahvia, ei tarvi ku koko ajan käyä kusella.

19:02

JANNE: Snack break is over. Food-mute is a fact. Gotz to try, still. Next song is Kuovi.

21:06

KIMMO: I dunno how many songs done... feeling good for the first time today. Promised myself not to drink before all recording is done. Finland - Canada hockey match will begin soon.

OLLI: Fucking hockey. We had a deal that the internet shall not be opened but everybody has already broken the rule. Matti and I just opened the first beers. So things start rolling. I have relatives in Canada, Jimmy was born there, we have maple syrup in stores and I saw Melissa auf der Maur live last November. What that means...I dunno.

21:54

KIMMO: We're all guilty, addicted to internet or alcohol. 12 steps?

00:01

JANNE: Song 9/9 to go.

01:00

JANNE: Success. Now let's pack our shit up and continue in a couple of days.

01:02

OLLI: I'm almost proud. I guess we're a pretty good band nowadays and even somehow more sober. But that doesn't mean that I haven't been a major bummer lately.

KIMMO: Finland beat Canada. Wonderful. Melissa hope you're not mad?

1:08

Luca: Damn I'm proud. Nice day, nice songs and now beer. Feeling pretty tired, but good. I've been so busy with the drums that I had no time to write here. Can't wait to hear the songs ready.

MAY 8-10, at our practice pad:

JANNE: Olli & Matti had to fix some last week's guitar fuck-ups (there were plenty, esp. out of tune stuff). I sang 2 songs (Monday To Someday & Kuovi) and tried my best at shredding a guitar solo for a thrashy number called Räs. Had some beers and got merry. We also managed to make an impromptu appearance on stage on Saturday night at our friends' b-day party. We played some Nirvana tunes +got a request to do one of our new ones, Caravan. Matti played drums, Olli played bass and me & Kimmo handled the rest. Luca was boozing somewhere else, the bastard. Now, a day off and we're gonna continue with the recordings on Tuesday. Going fine so far.

MAY 12-20

JANNE: Olli's back from Helsinki, we recorded a song called Caravan (all acoustic), did some additional guitar wank and Kimmo had to redo some bass tracks which didn't take too much time once we got his cheap-ass woodblock in tune. Finished the vocals, which ended up sounding really really good without too much teethgrinding IMHO. We came up with all the vocal melodies & lyrics for a brand new song "Locust Flight", and it sounds great, definitely gonna be on the album if you ask me. The other brand-newie, which shall remain nameless at this point, sounds pretty lame-ass. But who knows how it's gonna end up, it's pretty catchy and all so if we can breathe some life into it at a later time, maybe it'll be worth something.

MAY 22-23

JANNE: Finishing the mixes at Matti's place. Plus we did some overall EQ-ing, mastering or whatever (don't ask me) at Cosmic Studios one evening, which meant me & Kimmo sitting around smoking constantly and Matti fighting against the rise of the machines, smoking constantly. In the end we had 10 new songs ready... which means probably 70-90% of the album is now written, depending on how we feel about the tunes in a couple of weeks time, and whether we can come up with some worthy new shit during the summer.

April 10

its 5:30 PM and i'm at home waiting for our show at Kustaa III (pretty close to my place) later tonight. I can't really stress enough the fact that this unplugged thing is so fucking great for us. the songs live and breathe and we go with the flow, the arrangements aren't very strictly thought out (as they usually sure as fuck are... everything), somebody starts a song and the rest of us follow.

the only downside to this that i can think of is the fact that it's almost too easy get into arguments at the practice pad when there isn't all that constant 110dB noise going on. i mean, we've been picking fights with and fuck-you'ing each other even during the songs, not just the breaks. but ha ha, that's a part of this thing as well as all the easy-going times. we sound better than ever, so who the fuck cares how we feel, like Kimmo once put it... and we're feeling pretty damn good actually. i'll try to take a nap now, catch you later when we've played the show.

-janne-

April 13

Playing acoustic shows has always been fun, this time around too. There's no pretense in the music or the performers, you just sit down and play some songs for the people, a very simple thing. Feels very refreshing after all the noise we usually make, and really makes us fall in / out of love with some songs that work differently in a more basic rock band -form.

Listening to Hazards of Love from The Decemberists, sounds awesome. It's also mainly acoustic instruments and not very rocky stuff... hmmm. Maybe we should do an acoustic album too. Well not really.

We're going to record some new demo/promo songs in a couple of weeks, really looking forward to that. Lots of good songs. Maybe we should think about giving some out for you to listen, after all it's been fucking ages since we put out any new material? We'll try to figure out something.

PSst!: studio reports with vids & pics coming soon... soon after that, new music

Current mood:  knighted
We had a nice productive couple of days last week playing a show at Klubi plus rehearsing for the acoustic show which will take place this Friday at Kustaa III here in Tampere. What can I say, the Klubi show wasn't without its problems, at least for me since IMO I managed to fuck up some of the songs pretty royally singing-wise... you know, the usual stage-sound-was-crap-and-my-voice-was-pretty-shot-because-of-that-blah-blah bullshit, but what the hell, we rocked the house and put a smile on the people's faces and premiered two brand new songs that night, so mission accomplished.

The next three days were spent nursing our ever-evolving hangovers at our rehearsal room, playing stripped down acoustic versions of our new & older songs. It's pretty rewarding to go through your material with everything stripped down to the basics, i.e. melodies & chords & simple beats, and still realize they're very good and in some cases much better than the originals. We trimmed a lot of fat off of the new songs as well, which no doubt will help us put together the upcoming album in the best way possible.

Lazy afternoon jam, April 3, 2009 at our place:

Olli spots a pink elephant, Matti faces the facts and is angry at life:

So if you're able, come to Kustaa III and find out for yourself, it's gonna be great I promise. Olli's gonna bring his cello, bouzouki & whatnot plus you'll hear some stuff we'll probably never be playing again... like Hells Bells unplugged.

Any suggestions, anybody?

catch you later,

-Janne & D.E.-

............Well,

sorry for being so lazy with updating this thing lately. We're still not dead or anything, we're working on our new songs all the time and working on getting to the studio sooner or later.

Check out the interview below (by rockbaari.de) to get a more detailed view of what's up with us.

The new songs... there's a lot of varied stuff for sure and they just keep coming. Think Faith No More's King For A Day, Fool For A Lifetime. Think Black Sabbath from Electric Funeral to Planet Caravan, think punk, think Pink Floyd. Think R.E.M. in a particularly bad mood. Think Nirvana trying to play Type O Negative covers. Death, happiness, boys, girls. That's what it is.

My own favorite song of the bunch at the moment is this one called "Silent Shudder", which is a cross between Myrskyluodon Maija and the big N's Scentless Apprentice. It sounds so fucking ridiculous that it just has to work. Sort of like us deliberately trying to stuff every song we've ever made into one piece. Totally unexplainable lyrics that still take me places. We'll probably play this one at our next show, should be fun.

Come to the shows and hear for yourself:

Thu 02.04. Klubi, Tampere, +White Flame, Parasite City (6 €, K-18)

Fri 10.04. Kustaa III, Tampere (UNPLUGGED, FREE ENTRY, K-18)

Day Eleven showtime for both nights is 21:00.

MARCH 2009 INTERVIEW by ROCKBAARI.DE

1. According to your Myspace Diary your third album will be recorded later this year, what can we expect from it?

JANNE: Probably a bit of a mix between our two previous albums, you know, the melodies and the moody atmosphere of our debut combined with the heavy rocking of Sleepwalkers. With a lot more hooks than before. We're not pulling any punches, it's gonna be very diverse. Some blastbeats, some acoustic songs, the whole shebang.

KIMMO: Hopefully it will be an interesting listen. The records I love the most are diverse, have a unique sound and personality, and the songs are great and catchy without sounding labored or over-thought. I think we're aiming for that kind of thing.

2. How’s the work going so far?

JANNE: We're currently sorting out the business side of things, the budgeting etc. That's the one load of bullshit we have to get out of the way before we can enter the studio. But yeah, we have lots of great new songs written and there's more coming still. Pre-production & demoing.

KIMMO: We've been writing for a while now and it's going well, at this stage it's about making the record amazing instead of just good. We've achieved the good and are inching towards amazing, hehe.

3. Did you already choose the name of the album and your debut single?

JANNE: Nope.

KIMMO: Album: All I Want, first single: Shine.

JANNE: Wow, you can't get more basic than that... Maybe this time we should use "We're From The Country Where Lordi Lives", which was the working title for the previous album.

4. Will your album be released in other countries as well?

JANNE: Let's hope so, I'm pretty sure it will be.

KIMMO: Of course it will be, and nowadays that we have Spotify I think these things about releases here and there are becoming pretty redundant.

5. If you think back, when you have recorded the songs for your first album: What is/was different this time?

JANNE: Most of our debut album's songs were written by me and Kimmo at our rehearsal studio over a long period of time. Nowadays, since Olli joined in 2005, there's four guys writing and also, we try to make the songs really work as a five-piece band. It's more of a group effort, more spontaneus. The recording itself, as well.

6. Will you work with Jens Bogren again or will you choose another producer?

JANNE: We're trying to get this pretty well known Finnish dude to produce us, but I won't name any names yet in case it falls through. He's interested, we're interested so let's see what happens.

KIMMO: I think it won't be Jens this time around...but we're not sure who it's going to be.

JANNE: Lordi, perhaps?

7. Do you plan to play some shows in other countries than Finland this or next year?

JANNE: Absolutely, there are some German shows being planned at the moment and we'll let you know as soon as we get them confirmed.

8. You have already published two albums, how do you feel about it? Are you happy with the things you have achieved so far?

JANNE: Could have done better, could've done worse. Of course I'm proud of what we've accomplished so far, since we started with absolutely nothing years and years ago. But we're still looking for that "one big break", if you know what I mean, and as long as we're happy together pursuing that dream I guess everything's fine.

KIMMO: I feel good about what we've done, lots of great experiences and memories. The music has gotten better all the time and that gives a lot of enthusiasm to keep playing.

9. How did your families, friends react when you told them that Day Eleven is more than an ordinary school band for you?

JANNE: This band stuff has been a huge part of our lives since we were fifteen so they've just had to live with it, I guess. They've been supportive, big thanks for that, even though this shit gets pretty silly sometimes and certainly doesn't pay the bills even though it takes most of our time.

10. What was your worst gig ever?

JANNE: Filling in for Jann Wilde at some charity event in Hämeenlinna 2007, no soundcheck, 15 minutes on stage instead of 30+ we were promised, everything all fucked up including Matti's amp which was dead for the first two songs and the sleaziest, assholiest, motherfuckingest douchebag in Finland, Janne Kataja announcing us on stage with the most embarassing choice of words imaginable, wrong place, wrong time... shit like that is always an experience that teaches you a lot, though. Boy, did we suck but the conditions were not helping.

11. What’s your favorite song of your own last 2 albums? And why?

JANNE: From Almost Over Everything it's the title track, and from Sleepwalkers it's Dissonance Fading. Everything just clicks on those two, the lyrics, the production, the good memories from when we were writing and recording them.

12. Think 10 years ahead: where would you like to be?

JANNE: On tour somewhere, and hopefully still having a full head of my own hair...

13. How do you spend an ordinary weekday?

JANNE: Lately it's been like this: wake up at noon, think about getting a real job, get some caffeine in me, hang around at home listening to music, playing guitar and maybe cooking, go to band practise at around 6 PM and once in every couple of days go to Dog's Home after that, get loaded and talk about Jane's Addiction, Syd Barrett or Izzy Stradlin with Olli.

14. Males and Make-up: yes or no? And why?

JANNE: If you dig it, go for it. It looks pretty bad if you don't wear it with pride, though.

15. Can you give us three things you absolutely don’t like doing? (Like laundry or ironing, for example)

JANNE: Discussing music. I really hate it but I do it all the time after three or four beers. I mean, music should be experienced personally through listening, you can't talk someone into liking an artist you like yourself. It always ends the same, you know, "Dude, Blind Melon fucking rules", "No no, Tuomari Nurmio is better."

And the same goes for our own songs whenever we try to decide if some part works or not. The discussion goes nowhere, and you either feel it in your guts or you don't. The situation usually ends up with someone saying "Everybody shut up, I'll decide this one." Which is alright.

Things number 2 & 3 that come to mind right now are: jogging and waiting in lines. Washing dishes is fine...

16. Can you imagine taking part in a TV reality show?

JANNE: Depends on what it would be about.

17. What’s the best thing for you at the moment?

JANNE: Listening to Elliott Smith and reading Robert Harris' books.

18. Do you have a message for your fans?

JANNE: Hang in there, you will hear new music from us pretty soon and you won't be disappointed.

thanks for answering and taking your time :)

HEY DUDES!!!!1 what's UP!!!.

photo: Jarkko Heinonen / Argohoo.com

We spent the last weekend at our practice pad demoing new songs. They sound good. You'll hear the best of them... soon. I can't think of anything else to say about it, check it out and judge for yourself:

That means that new album is getting pretty close to being written... just a little squeeze away. So hang in there.

Here's a recent interview from metalfromfinland.com you might wanna check out:

http://metalfromfinland.com/interviews/402

We played a couple of pretty good gigs last month with Molly Grows Up in Helsinki, Turku & Tampere, respectively, as well as a surprise stint at Vastavirta-Klubi here in Tampere with Miss Monster Truck and Nugget Nemesis (Rommel!! lol!1), both of which you should check out. 'Cause they're great, that is. Some pics and our vague memory traces can be found below.

06.09.2008 Gloria, Helsinki, Finnbands Rock.

JANNE: Not too many people there, but the few that attended seemed to really be into it so yeah, we had a good time. We we're the last band on the bill that night so surprise, surprise, all the booze backstage was already gone when we had played. Everybody knows that's like the worst thing that could happen, man. So we were devastated but I think we learned something that day. Get what you can while you can and run. Boo-hoo.

KIMMO: Basic stuff here... we tend to play well when nobody's watching.

OLLI: Exactly. The best part was our promotional pictures that we tried to take earlier that day. We found out that boozing three days in a row before that isn't the best idea, at least I found out. The afterparty was kind of fun: at Lostari and then in my place; hazy memories, weird moments.

Photos: Finnbands.com, except where noted

18.09.2008 Semifinal, Helsinki.

JANNE: It was a pretty good day I remember. A good show, encores and all.

OLLI: Great gig, cool afterparty. Next morning we made delicious stuffed pancakes and had a couple of beers with Luca and Matti, so Kimmo was only one left to do the driving to Turku. (He wasn't that happy, but thanks anyway)

This is what was apparently going on after the show. Thanks to Spanish Team Who Loves Olli Sopanen's T-shirt  for the  illustration:

19.09.2008 Klubi, Turku.

JANNE: A hangover-from-hell day. I was panicking my ass off backstage until the showtime, but once we got onstage I was surprised to find out that I wasn't gonna die or fall into pieces after all. It was the best show in ages in my opinion, great crowd, Turku we love you.

KIMMO: Hungover from the day before, trying to get your body & mind into some kind of a shape to be able to play - so far I think that's been the most reliable recipe for a good show. Worked here as well.

OLLI: As I said before the couple of beers did the trick: I felt fine the whole day. One funny thing was this 'Pirates of the Baltic Sea' environmental project launch party at Tavastia club. Couple of ciders and sandwiches there too while we were packing our gear.

Photos: Petri Vilén / Huumakuva.net

24.09.2008 Vastavirta, Tampere

JANNE: So, we weren't supposed play here in the first place, but in the morning we got a call from the Miss Monster Truck guys asking if we wanna fill in for Dolly's Diamond Bra (check them out) who had to cancel their slot. 'But of course', said we, and off we went. Small crowd, weird boogie, the beer was good but Olli couldn't stand the garlic olives backstage.

KIMMO: Nugget Nemesis was entertaining, on- and offstage.

OLLI: I hate 'em olives but like the place.

25.09.2008 Klubi, Tampere

JANNE: Great sound (kiitos monitorimiksaajalle), good times, played a newie called Isokuovi for the 1st time ever, took a sauna, got happily wasted, a great night out in general but where the fuck was everybody?

KIMMO: Nice and all but was missing the element of a spectacle. Well, next time will be better.

OLLI: Great night over all. Felt weird to get on the train (totally wasted) at 6.30 A.M. heading back home to celebrate my girlfriends birthday.

Well hello honeys...

Here's what's up in Day Eleven Land at the moment:

Yes, we are still in the process of writing more and more new material with our upcoming third album in mind. We do have a lot of songs (maybe half of the album) written but we want to push ourselves as far as we can to make sure the next one is fucking perfect, and that we really have something important to say. We want to take the time to see all the possible directions we can take ourselves in, and make some decisions later when we have lots and lots of inspired stuff to choose from. We are working with the deadline of March 2009 in mind, but don't take that for granted, it can change either way.

We will be hitting the studio at the end of the year if all goes well. Before that, we've got some shows to play here in Finland, at which we'll be putting many of the new songs to the test. So, in order to be among the blessed first to hear the wonderfully titled tunes Mormon Whore, Parmesan, Isokuovi, Uskis and Laimea Paska among many other future favorites, get your ass to:

Thu 31.07.2008 Liberte, Helsinki, 5 € + Substances, K-18

Sat 06.09. Finnbands Rock, Gloria, Helsinki, 10€ + Crumbland, Naked, The Winyls & many others, -S- / K-18

Touring with our pals Molly Grows Up
:

Thu 18.09. Semifinal, Helsinki K-18

Fri 19.09. Klubi, Turku K-18

Thu 25.09. Klubi, Tampere .K-18

Wed 15.10. Torvi, Lahti K-18

We had a great little trip to Lithuania 2 weeks ago, where we played at "Pragaro Ausra III" festival. You can check out the road diary below.

Oh, and one more thing:

OUR OFFICIAL WEBSITE ADDRESS HAS CHANGED TO:

So remember to update your links & bookmarks. I know, I know... there's nothing there yet, but the new website is on the way. Until then, check out our Myspace for everything you need to know about us, and as always, a lot of crap you didn't even want to know. Like the pics and shit below.

Lithuania, July 2008:

After breakfast in Vilnius, July 4th 2008. Luca's vomit just out of shot.

Moody Finns sightseeing.

A wall. And a sightseeing Finn. Statue of Frank Zappa just out of shot.

A patch of Lithuanian grass. And I dunno some guy I guess.

Climbing the Gediminas hill to the Upper castle.

Kimmo perceives a park.

Oh yeah, the show. Well, what can I say, we played a fiery show to a couple of dozen crazy drunken people in the middle of a forest just before the sunrise. It was pretty weird... we had fun, and the audience was lovely. The stage was set pretty cool, sort of half a barn as you can see. Live pics taken by Vemalas (http://public. fotki. com/advansas/pragaro-ausra-2008/).

After the show. Making friends, getting happily wasted. Sopanen's passing out with a fresh drink in hand, Kimmo's falling in and passing out by the river and Janne's vomit just out of shot.

Next day at the airport in Riga. The check-in was pure hell but the smiles never left our faces.

Thanks for the good times Nino and Santa, our driver, and all the other good people we met.

see ya,

-janne & d.e.-

Oh hi!

Here's what's up at the moment: we're not dead or anything, just busy working on our new material. We just spent five days demoing new songs, you can check out the video "blog"  and our random bullshitting below.

We're playing one of the very few shows of this spring tomorrow (17.4.) at Vastavirta-klubi, here in Tampere. It's a special kind of show because Matti fucked up his hand in a freaky wrecked-drunken-nerves type of accident the other night. (No, he didn't beat anyone up... And he'll be ok in 2 weeks.) Anyway, I'll be playing guitar at tomorrows show. Should be fun. Plus it's Kimmo's b-day. See ya.

Sävi, Suodenniemi, FI 26.-31.3.2008

THURSDAY 27.03.2008

3.14. AM

JANNE: Ok kids, here we go. 4 hours ago we got to Sävi, a weird nowhere of a village in the countryside of Finland, somewhere near... yeah, near what, don't ask me. We're here with a plan: to have a serious 5 day jam and get some new demos on tape to see where our heads are at right now, musically. Let's roll. We got time, beers and guitars in our hands, should be fun. Fuk yeah.

11:07 AM

JANNE: Good morning. Woke up to the sound of Olli, Kimmo ünd Luca playing "Sopasen Betteri", I was dying to snooze for a little while more but it sounded so disappointing that I had to go tell them that. So we patched it together and it's sounding pretty good now. Yeah. Matti's still asleep, the bastard.

13.01

LUCA: Sopasen Betteri is sounding pretty good. Janne's got some cool punk song and I cant wait to play it. The sun is shining, nice.

13.25

OLLI: Here I am, the best looking guy in this whole damn bunch. I find it hard to do that song (my "Betteri"). We lowered the key because the vocals sounded like crap in the original key. If I had more talent it would be easier, but I guess I..m only good at drinking. We are waiting for Matti while he..s doing whatever... I don..t know. The weather is like a springtime goddess, means it's the most beautiful day of the whole spring. I'm really enthusiastic about all the songs and possibilities and directions we can go.

13.48

KIMMO: Seems like the computers are working, time for another beer. Now we just have to cook up something to record.

15:00

JANNE: Performance was good, team was good. Kohta röökille, vittu et käy moikkaamaan.

16:26

JANNE: Business as usual. We're fighting over which parts of the song "Ex-Lovers" suck and which are good. Kimmo wants to get rid of the part that Matti & Olli think is the best damn thing in the whole song. Lötjönen is waiting for Fed-Ex to bring him a new guitar to these backwoods. He's on fire. Nerd-fire.

17:30

JANNE: Fuck this no sleeping shit. Thanks to a couple of Morning Champions (cranberry juice & vodka) that Olli let me fix for myself (from his unlimited arsenal of all things booze) I'm starting to feel a little more energetic now. In only a couple of hours we've done more positive creative work on our songs than I think the whole year this far. It's sounding good and mäkihyppykin sujuu (Deluxe Ski Jump 3). Matti is busy miracle-making in the kitchen. Tofu-lentil soup or something. We're veggie pussies, you know. Except for Luca, the Italian Stallion, Ruisleipä-Kyttä, a man's man.

19:31

JANNE: Time for the soundcheck. The mics are in place, I guess we'll start easy with an AC/DC cover. I bet it's gonna sound like crap. Songs we've doodled with today so far: Sopasen Betteri, 2 Ex-Lovers, They Work You Out, I've Changed If I've Changed

23:52

KIMMO: Yeah-oh-yia. Fresh out of sauna, going for a smoke, feeling good. What's nice is we ditched the stupid idea of doing an AC/DC cover so we managed to record our own stuff instead.

23:54

OLLI: I don..t know why, but I..m still acting like a cool urpo, having a fishnests like tommors hard ons, I prefer longjohns.

2:57

JANNE: Drunk as fuck but happy, listening to what Richard Ashcroft has got to say. He's got a lot of nothings to say yet the man still sounds like he means it. I'm the last one up, well what can I say. I'm feeling good... what would Izzy do?? I'm listening to The Verve and trying to come down. Come down. Down. Listen to the Verve before you listen to our mind boggling mind-fuck mind fuck stuff. Get sum guts, good nights, good

3:07

J: Not much.

FRIDAY 28.03.2008

12:25

J: Mitä vittua.

13:48

J: Olli, why ya such a fuck-up? Tried to record "Bring The Wave (Tsunami-rock)", but it sucked, so it's time for a ciggie break and then it's take two.

OLLI: Janne fuck you, I..m innocent. Luca and Kimmo are ruining this recording.

18:08

KIMMO:

19:09

J: Lots of songs on tape, and three of them with vocals as well. So I guess it's been a good day. Feeling pretty loony though, another hangover from hell. Gotta sleep a little better tonight. Yeah, right.

OLLI: I have faced a greatest problem so far and I don..t know how to get through it. I have lost my cranberry juice which isn..t a nice thing at all. Without a mixer my booze will get pretty heavy...I don..t mind but let..s see what other guys think when I..m getting drunk as hell. Let that be my revenge on the world.

21:05

J: Yes, everything sounds amazing and we think we rule and will start a revolution and will bring flanellipaidat back in style. Olli's cranb. juice mystery solved. More on that later when someone is in a mood for yak-yak-yakking. I shall sing "Two Ex Lovers" now.

23.03:

Hey this is Acul, the new drummer from Fedex. I..m not good as Luca, but I try to be a nice guy, I got booze, will you be my friend?.

SATURDAY 29.03. -08

0:08

J: Kello on paljon ja väsyttää, Kaikilla moikkaa. Sopane "kusi" housuun. Kimmo luovutti. Hyvä jöö. I played a bouzoki solo today, it's amazing. We're sitting here with beers and listening to the day's work. (Editors note: no we fucking didn't, computer problems and too much booze apparently, Olli collapsed on the control room couch for the second night in row)

11:50 AM

J: Playing some acoustic songs for a change.

20:42

J: Matti is singing backing vox to his upcoming hit song, "Parmesan". Sounds excellent. Everything's going too well. Of course there have been a couple of songs that are apparent dead ends, but most tunes sound better than I had imagined. One problem though, every song sounds so samey, we can't tell them from each other, same tunings, dynamics, everything... NOT. A ridiculously diverse pack of songs we got here. From jestanpoo to death punk. Still one more day to go, which is nice.

SUNDAY 30.3.2008

15:17

J: Everybody's hungover but me. The guys wanna leave today, fucking bastards. 5 or 6 songs left to sing. Njääh. Olli's cooking, and I don't mean crystal meth.

19:37

J: We're not leaving today 'cause there's still some work to do. I'm pleased. Matti is panicking with his hangover, Kimmo just mixed the first song that is officially "done". Crazy sounds. Yeah.

OLLI: I..m in the mood. Gotta do some house cleaning... I..m really interested. Want to look at the sunset instead.

19:51

J: We got a lot of talent, for retards.

19:55

JANNE: Oh, and by the way: never trust Fed-Ex.

23:33

OLLI: Matti is starving.

MONDAY 31.03.2008

1:00 AM

J: Tired but happy. Couple of more songs to mix. Nothing to say. Cigarette break.

David Crosby, the King of the Hippies, dropped by for a jam, how nice.

Useful stuff.

Luca seems happy, I bet he's just wasted.

I was right.

you might be wondering what's the truth / but you like my smell, don't you

I think a part of me you should save, honey / but you forget every promise as you inhale me

After taking two or three weeks off from this band shit around Christmas & New Year's (trying to screw our heads on straight again), we're finally ready to get down to the business of coming up with material for our next album. New songs have been taking shape in my head since last summer, but you know, it seems to take some effort trying to find the time to present the songs to the other guys, let alone practice them, even if you're only playing shows every other weekend or so.

Time for some new music, then. Like the case has always been with us, we've got a lot of different stuff from acoustic songs to total noise and we just have to sift through it all to see what pleases us the most this time around. So far I feel it's gonna be quite different from our last album... darker, heavier, more melodic but in a twisted way. But who the fuck knows, we might end up changing everything and coming up with terrible, pathetic power ballads and my next haircut will be a camaro mullet. And Kimmo will let his moustache grow back, and Olli will put down his guitar and concentrate on his bouzouki & booze 100%.

Anyway, what we'll try to do next is to just jam on some of these new tracks together and also try to come up with something cool with all five of us writing together at the practice pad, which is the way a lot of our favorite songs on Sleepwalkers (such as Untitled & Message) were made. But the main thing is to not give a fuck, not think about it too much, just tap into the stream and let the music flow. The time for thinking and decision-making will come later. Some of the working titles we have at the moment include "Both Ex-Lovers", "Sad Satellite, Bring The Wave", "(I Have Changed) If I've Changed", "Mormon Whore", "Inside Outside", "Sopasen Betteri" and of course "Lötjöse Biisi" and "Lötjösen Se Toine Biisi". Let's see how many of these you hear on the album when it comes out (later this year I really really hope).

We played a short but sweet show at Nosturi, Helsinki ten days ago, here are some pics taken by Niina from Finnbands.com (where noted) and Oona Siltanen (the others). You can find some more photos for example in here (taken by Lumikki Black.)

Cheers, stay sane and stay tuned. We'll post some new pics and maybe some song snippets when there are some.

PS: Mein edellinen plaatta "Sleepwalkers" löytyy näin levyalen aikaan kaupoista suunnilleen 7,99 euron hintaan, joten jos ei oo tullu hommattua ni nyt on hyvä hetki käydä se poistamassa kokoelmiinsa.

Current mood:perus
Saarbrücken, Roxy, 19.09.2007

The scenery & the weather were starting to kick some ass when we got near Saarbrücken. The highs were getting higher & the lows were getting lower, and we were on fire. The venue was the smallest club we played on this tour, which wasn't a bad thing, it was pretty cool to stand there literally face to face with the 200-or-so-headed crowd (the night before in Bochum we played a sold-out club of 850). And the show was really good, the crowd was into it from the start and we finally started seeing a lot of people singing along to our songs as well, which was amazing considering that not many had heard of us before we set foot on the German soil only 5 days earlier. So it was a great energetic show, a lot of sweat and screams, and then we had to head to the next town when NGT were in the beginning of their set. Good times, good times.

Karlsruhe, Substage, 20.09.2007

A weird venue that was located in an old subway station if I understand correctly. We had some time to check out the city during the day, so we hung out in a park and Olli bought some of the most useless souvenirs known to man. We did a some interviews and had a meet & greet with our street-teamers - thanks guys.

The show was not the best from our part, I don't know what went wrong, we played the songs pretty ok but the energy just wasn't right, maybe we just couldn't top the craziness of the night before. Nevertheless, people seemed to dig us, because afterwards we got a shitload of great feedback from this particular show. We didn't have to switch towns that night so we had a chance to hang around and party for the rest of the night. We ended up in a hotel room party with Olli dressed in drag, Luca passing out in the bath-tub and shit like that... business as usual. Met a lot of fans and nice folks outside the venue, thanks.

Glauchau, Alte Spinnerei, 22.09.2007

In the morning after the show in Karlsruhe we had a 500km drive to the next town, and our driver/backlinedude Simo participated by throwing up and sleeping in the backseat, so the job of listening to Lady Navigator and trying not to fall asleep at the wheel was left to me. Actually the drive was not that hard except Janne needs to take a leak every five minutes and Olli needs to yell for food every five minutes, hehehe.

We had a day off which we spent in Chemnitz, the hostel was the coolest ever but the town was a bit of a, well, a ghost town. We spent the whole day without a drop of alcohol which did wonders to our heads & bodies, oh joy!

The next show was in Glauchau which was a tiny little village in the middle of the fields, even the venue smelled like cows or something. Still, it was a great place with a big stage, great food and everything so things were as cool as before.

The Glauchau show was for us the best one on the tour, the crowd was drunk on Saturday night and probably something else too, and it was great to be on that stage and just let go. Also, we had all kinds of problems with our gear, which funnily is a thing you learn to appreciate when you do a number of shows in a row. It breaks the routine in a nice way plus I think it's fun for the audience to see how the band manages to pull it off when their equipment says "fuck you I'm going home", hehehehe. Olli went totally Axl Rose and changed costumes during the show so I'm not sure if the biggest hit of the night was our music or the black girlie nightgown he wore but I think both went down well enough. So, big thanks to the audience and once again hats off to NGT and their busdriver John who gave us a huge pile of Bit, some kind of German liquid that is neither beer nor cider but it does the trick.

Berlin, Columbia Club, 23.09.2007

Berlin was the last show on the tour, and there was some extra pressure in the air, at least for me, 'cause my girlfriend and a couple of really good friends from Finland were in the audience. Also, our German record label Dockyard1 and some people from some magazines had come to check us out. I was tired and felt weird and irritated the whole day, but it all went away the minute we got onstage. By this show the playing and singing stuff had gotten pretty easy so once again it was just a matter of letting go and having sips of beer in between. Columbia Club is a great place to play, the audience was there and everything flowed, a nice ending for the tour on our part. Before the tour I had promised to stay up partying all night after the show in Berlin, but yeah, the 10 previous days had taken their toll and after the show it was almost straight back to the hostel for me. Still, we had time to meet some nice people from Dockyard & some other friends too, cheers to you and of course to the audience at Columbia Club!

And now that I've started thanking people, very big thank you's go out to NGT and their crew for taking us with them on this trip, it was truly a blast - khiitosh & ahntheekshi!!! (I don't speak)
