"dude...this is all public info....no stuff on salaries!!"

March 27, 2008 - Thursday

There have been several concerns raised by concerned residents in Selangor (mainly PJ) in the Keadilan Power (K-Power) e-group that I manage...:

Some of the concerns were regarding issues facing Selangor/PJ residents and a few contentious proposals made by our new Selangor MB Khalid Ibrahim.

The issues ranged from...

1)    Selangor Excos unwillingness to declare their assets.

2)    The continuing of the "Zero Squatter" policy.

3)    The RM9 tax on every foreign worker

to..

4) Disparity in Water Tariff :  Stratified Residence charges RM1.38 per cu meter while the landed properties pay only RM0.57 per cu meter.

5) Disparity in Assessment Rates: Eg. A luxurious bungalow pays RM500 per annum while Stratified Residence pay over RM1,000.

       To...

       6) Someone complaining of the limited parking spaces available at his Condo. (Only space presumably for his Merc, while his Beemer and Volvo are left outside in the sun and rain, the poor thing.)

According to S’gor MB Abdul Khalid Ibrahim’s statement in Malaysiakini recently: (http://www.malaysiakini.com/news/80406):

He said this when asked if the Selangor government would direct its excos and municipal council heads to declare their assets.
’We’ll do it also ... but the timing of its implementation will take time.

’I’ll have to ask my excos first. Some do not want to make their declarations public for ’family’ reasons.

’If they feel they want to make it public, then we’ll make it public. But there are reasons for this, because they say they do not want to show their shareholdings to the public,’ he added.

Cue THE TOYO, jumping in with a flying kick:

Excerpts from Malaysiakini report:
http://www.malaysiakini.com/news/80470

Former Selangor menteri besar Dr Mohd Khir Toyo has challenged his successor Khalid Ibrahim and his state executive councillors to declare their assets.

Mohd Khir was responding to Khalid’s recent revelation that there were reservations by some exco members on the matter.

"All these opposition leaders should declare their assets and their debts. If they have settled their debts, tell us where the money came from," he said.

... or burn and shred the paper trail!

Mohd Khir said previously, he and his exco members had to declare their assets to the Chief Secretary to the Government once every two years.

...who then was too embarrassed/powerless/chickenshit to reveal the figures to the public.

I forwarded the K-Power postings to a few S’gor Exco members and received a reply from Exco member Elizabeth Wong, who commented on the asset declaration issue:

HI there,

There was no discussion on this matter in the exco meeting this Wednesday. However it will only be brought up next week.

No doubt from KeADILan, the position is public declaration of assets. I believe the MB will over-rule those exco who may not want to declare their assets.

I hope this helps.

thanks,

Elizabeth Wong

Elizabeth has also declared on her blog:

Yes, I will publicly declare my assets, to which Teresa Kok quipped, "Aiyah…only got RM 25 lah!" :D

Apart from that, the new MB has also clarified two contentious items on his agenda:

1] Continue the ’zero squatter’ policy.
- according to his statement in the same M’kini report:
’We want to accommodate the wishes of the squatters as much as we have to take into account the costs (incurred by) the developer,’ he added.

2] According to TV3 last night, and all the mainstream newspapers and M’kini today: ’Khalid also said the state government will seek to realise a system where companies that hire foreign workers will be ’taxed’ RM9 per worker per month.’

If this can be collected for all of the estimated 1.5 million foreign workers in Selangor, it can serve as a source of funding for skills training programmes for the state’s youth. This, in turn, can contribute towards decreasing the dependence on foreign labour, said Khalid.
....

Wait first!!!
If there are there any youth out there who are dying to be trained as  tukang cuci pinggan, tukang cuci tandas awam or pembantu rumah, please raise your lily-white hands ....

OK ... what about tukang tuang minyak kat Stesen Esso?

Suaram have come out strongly against this proposal, as it fears, and rightly so, the employer would tax the worker the RM9 per month.

Latheefa Koya, Central Committee Member of Parti Keadilan Rakyat has emailed her pledge to the same K-Power e-group:

Dear Everyone,

I totally appreciate and share most of the sentiments expressed in this egroup - as well as outside regarding the controversial statement by the S’gor MB.

In fact I have forwarded some of the constructive criticism to Dr Wan Azizah, Anwar and Dr Syed Husin. This is indeed a real challenge for us as the policies must be in line with party policies and not different from what was promised during election campaign.

I hope to continue getting feedback and responses as direct and as frank as possible to keep our leaders in check.

Believe me this is not a PR excercise on my part as I believe party unity cannot be above basic human rights principle.

Latheefa Koya

Central Committee Member

Parti Keadilan Rakyat

Not to detract, downplay or disregard the negative proposals of Khalid as discussed previously, we should also give a fair amount of credit to some positive steps taken:

1] Reducing quit rent for schools and places of worship to RM1.

2] Investigating the "murky" Puncak Niaga water deal.

3] His idea to rent out to CEOs of multi-national companies the "
Taman Exco" mansions and charge rental that reflects the quality of the real estate, instead of letting the S’gor Excos live there.

Meanwhile, the mainstream media are falling over themselves out-gloating each other at the news that Malaysia Today blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin (RPK) has been ordered by the High Court to pay RM4 million in damages for libel for things he wrote in his blog.

The mainstream hacks are gleefully saying themselves or quoting people to the effect: "Yeesss .... all you keyboard cowboy blogger buggers .... now you’re shivering in fearrrr, aren’t youuuu...!!! Oooo ... scared now aren’t you? Yesss... better be careful now, you miserable little ticks, or you’ll be nexxxtttt....."

To which, any keyboard cowboy worth his er... gigabytes... would respond in the same way RPK has (excerpted from his blogpost):

When his lawyer sent me a Letter of Demand I did not respond to it. I threw it into the dustbin.

Then they served me the Writ of Summons and, again, I did not respond to it but threw it into the dustbin.

Then I was ordered to defend myself in court and, yet again, I ignored the order and threw it into the dustbin.

I, of course, also did not make an appearance in court so they obtained judgement in default.

Soon they will serve the Judgement on me and rest assured I will do what I do best, I will throw it into the dustbin.

Then they will of course file for bankruptcy against me and I will, in time, receive the Bankruptcy Notice and guess what, yes, I will throw that into the dustbin as well.

That is the ’value’ I place on all their Letters of Demand, Writs of Summons, and whatever else they have chosen to serve on me and will continue to do so as we play this little charade of justice in Malaysia.

RPK, I may not always agree with you’ve written in your blog, but I have to say –

MAN, YOU GOT BALLS.

On a related note, there is evidence that quite a few East Malaysian BN MPs are in discussions with Anwar Ibrahim on hopping over to PKR - Anwar has confirmed he was canvassing support from coalition lawmakers in East Malaysia, which represents a power bloc that could unseat the government if it changed hands.

People have come and approached me," Anwar said, adding that he had spoken with "quite a number" and told them their support would not be bought.

"If you want to surrender at a price, then you have chosen the wrong party," he told reporters, adding that they would be welcomed "if they accept our agenda".

Get the East Malaysian MPs on our side and that’ll be the end of BN’s rule of Malaysia....

Update 17 March 08:

---PRESS STATEMENT FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ---

A MALAYSIAN ECONOMIC AGENDA

March 15, 2008

Petaling Jaya, Malaysia - KeADILan’s Malaysian Economic Agenda is committed to the upliftment and betterment of the poor and marginalized Malays, Chinese and Indians, Ibans and Kadazans.  We have always stated that under our leadership the interests of the Malays will be protected and we remain committed to building a new system that is more just, more equitable and that ensures no one is left behind irrespective of race or religion.

We plan to implement new mechanisms to channel economic aid to the vast numbers of petty traders and small businessmen in Malay communities and ensure that educational opportunities, microcredit financing schemes, social and welfare services and other forms of economic relief are made available to the Malays.

I believe all Malaysians including the Malays are pleased with the mandate that was given to KeADILan on March 8th and they look forward to a government that is more accountable, fights corruption and delivers on its promises to promote economic growth and reduce poverty in all segments of society.

I am therefore deeply concerned with the attempt being made by certain elements to stoke the flames of racial hatred in the aftermath of the March 8th Malaysian elections.

We have reason to believe that this vicious campaign is being orchestrated by a small number of very wealthy Malays and UMNO leaders who are themselves guilty of squandering and abusing the NEP to enrich themselves and their cronies at the expense of the general public.

These people are now using the UMNO and government controlled media to incite fears among the Malays and deflect attention away from their electoral defeat and from UMNO’s historic failures to address the needs of all Malaysians including the poor and marginalised Malays.

I ask my fellow Malaysians to reject the desperate attempts by some UMNO members to salvage the remnants of a broken party by pandering to people’s fears and sowing divisions and disunity among the people of our nation.

We must remain united in support of a New Dawn for Malaysia.

ANWAR IBRAHIM

--PRESS STATEMENT FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE --

KeADILan HAS CLEAR AND FIRM STAND ON NEP

Parti Keadilan Rakyat (People’s Justice Party) has a clear and firm stand on the New Economic Policy (NEP). As explained by the Ketua Umum of the Party, Anwar Ibrahim in his 20-page article as well as through his many public pronouncements and ceramah, and further reaffirmed in several Party documents, including the Election Manifesto, we intend to replace the NEP with the Malaysian Economic Agenda.

The NEP, after nearly 40 years is already anachronistic. It has been abused by a handful leaders and cronies in Umno-Bn to rob the country of its wealth to enrich themselves, in the name of the Malays as a whole. It has led to discriminatory practices that are against the spirit of justice and fairness for all Malaysians, particularly the poor, marginalised and disadvantaged groups of all races.

The Malaysian Economic Agenda aspires to:

(a) institute and implement fair, just and equitable redistribution of the wealth in the country;

(b) fight against and finally abolish the evil practices of corruption, cronyism and nepotism and ensure the award of contracts and projects are done in open and transparent manner;

(c) continue the policy of positive discrimination in favour of poor dan deprived Bumiputera while at the same time giving equal opportunities to poor and deprived non-Bumpiputera on the basis of need and not racial greed;

(d) utilise the wealthy resources of the country to provide better social facilities – especially education, health and housing – for the poor, irrespective of ethnic backgrounds; and

(e) generate pro-people development and strengthen the competitive capacity of Malaysia so that she can stand tall with all developed countries, starting with  those in Asia.

Those leaders of Umno-Bn and the media they own that accuse Parti Keadilan Rakyat as having no stand on the NEP and on other ways of improving the lot of the poor, marginalized and disadvantaged Malays are deliberately indulging in lies to mislead the public.

We wish to emphasise that a policy of positive discrimination in favour of all Malaysians who are poor, marginalized and disadvantaged will benefit the Malay rakyat more, because they form the big majority of this category of people.

Dr. Syed Husin Ali
Deputy President, KeADILan
March 15, 2008

Excerpts from MalaysiaKini:

Anwar slams gov’t for stoking racial tension

Opposition figurehead Anwar Ibrahim has accused ruling party leaders of stoking racial tensions over plans to dismantle discrimination policies favouring ethnic Muslim Malays.
...
The alliance’s plans to transform the New Economic Policy (NEP), introduced in 1971 to boost majority Malays, has drawn criticism from the ruling Umno which led a protest in Penang.

Anwar said the opposition wanted to reform the NEP so that it uplifted all poor Malaysians, no matter what their race, and accused elements in Umno of inciting fear among Malays over the plan.
...
"This vicious campaign is being orchestrated by a small number of very wealthy Malays and Umno leaders who are themselves guilty of squandering and abusing the NEP," (he said).
...
"These people are now using the Umno and government-controlled media to incite fears among the Malays and deflect attention away from their electoral defeat and from Umno’s historic failures to address the needs of all Malaysians including the poor and marginalised Malays," said Anwar.

"I ask my fellow Malaysians to reject the desperate attempts by some Umno members to salvage the remnants of a broken party by pandering to people’s fears and sowing divisions and disunity among the people of our nation."
...
Anwar has reassured that Malays will not be forgotten under his new Malaysian Economic Agenda which he said is "committed to the upliftment and betterment of the poor and marginalised Malays, Chinese and Indians, Ibans and Kadazans."

Zaid: Stop pitting Malays against non-Malays
Excerpts from Malaysiakini report:
Former Umno leader Zaid Ibrahim has called on politicians - both government and opposition - to stop fueling racial sentiments in the wake of the ruling Barisan Nasional coalition’s unprecedented election setback.

"The political landscape has shifted so much and it’s a dangerous time for mischievous people and racists in this country to exploit," he told Malaysiakini in an exclusive interview.

"At this stage, when it’s still a very volatile, (with) our ethnic relations not good and national unity non-existent, both sides should avoid political grandstanding and emotive outbursts."
...
"And the mainstream media are not helping matters either when they say that the Malays have lost the ’Ketuanan Melayu’. We’ve just lost an election, for God’s sake....

On the other hand, Zaid ticked off DAP leaders for their "provocative" statements.
...
Lim, soon after he was sworn as the first DAP chief minister in the island state, declared that his government would do away with New Economic Policy, an affirmative action programme for the country’s bumiputeras.

"A good leader should be able to say the good part of NEP, which is to help the marginalised group, should be continued. The NEP which helps selected individuals to enrich themselves will be stopped. That’s all he should have said, not provocative statements," said Zaid.

"... TV3, the newspapers and the radio stations must also stop pitting the Malays against the non-Malays. It is so dangerous."

Meanwhile, in Penang....

Umno holds one-hour protest at Komtar
Excerpts from Malaysiakini:
Some 1,000 Umno members and supporters staged a one-hour protest outside the Penang state government office in Komtar this afternoon over the New Economic Policy controversy.

The crowd - which gathered there after Friday prayers around 2.30pm - chanted slogans such as ’Don’t sideline the Malays’ and ’Don’t abolish NEP’.

The demonstration, led by Penang Umno secretary Azhar Ibrahim, to protest Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng’s declaration that the new DAP-led state government would do away with NEP.
...
There were about 3,000 onlookers as eight FRU trucks armed with water cannons were deployed and the crowd eventually dispersed after the police gave the protestors a five-minute ultimatum.

Organisers described the demonstration as a "protest by Penang Malays against the state government’s discrimination and marginalisation of the community".
...
Lim also alleged that Umno had twisted the facts contained in his statement by claiming that the state government would abolish NEP.

"I only stated that the state government would do away with open tenders and contracts to eliminate corruption, nepotism and cronyism.

"Our tender awarding system will be fair and just to all," he assured.

Unlike the previous Barisan Nasional state governments, he said the present state government was neither anti-Malay nor pro-non Malay.

"We are pro-Malaysians," he told a packed news conference.

Excerpts from a follow-up Malaysiakini report:

The opposition, including the DAP but also the conservative Islamic party and the multiracial PKR, have said they want to sideline the NEP because it fosters cronyism and corruption.
...

Lim urged Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to ignore calls by Umno in Penang to scrap the various million-dollar development projects previously approved in Penang.

"Instead of respecting the outcome of a democratic process they are now sulking and venting their frustration at the people," he said.

It has become abundantly clear:
BN are using their control of the mainstream newsmedia to create discord and resentment with the new state govts while threatening the public that we have made a grave mistake in voting them in and are going to pay for our folly!

And we are STILL buying, reading and watching this shit?

Excerpts from Malaysiakini report:

On Saturday night, the initial count for the Rembau parliament constituency in Negri Sembilan showed that PKR had taken the seat by a razor-thin majority of 141 votes.

A recount however saw a complete reversal - Khairy Jamaluddin, son-in-law of premier Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, won by a staggering difference of 5,746 votes.

For opposition party PKR, this stark gap came in as a shock and consequentially became a solid basis for suspicion.

Rembau's PKR candidate Badrul Hisham Shaharin is today considering a legal challenge against the result.
...
"There were (also) irregularities in the vote counting procedure. The Election Commission (EC) did not issue the 'Form 14' to us when it was compulsory to do so," said Badrul, a former teacher and member of PKR supreme council.

Elaborating, Badrul said that Form 14 was an extremely important procedure as the document was one of the many measures that was in place to prevent vote-rigging.

Form 14 contains the number of total voters for a particular polling station and once the vote counting has been finalised, the form will be the official indicator of the number of votes designated for each candidate.

If the form was not issued, the results could not be considered as an official one but most importantly, it gave way for manipulation as the number of votes may be added in favour of a particular candidate.

Yes, yes - go gettim and take 'im down!! Khairy the Kerbau in Rembau.

Meanwhile, over in Kedah:

PAS rules out Islamic crackdown in Kedah
Excerpts from Malaysiakini:

Islamic party PAS moved today to dispel fears it will impose its values on states won by the opposition in weekend elections, amid reports that alcohol and short skirts are already out of favour.

The Star newspaper said hotels and entertainment outlets in Kedah, one of four states claimed by opposition parties in stunning electoral gains, were already making changes.

(Yesterday RTM1 news quoted an outgoing Kedah MCA-man pleading that "all races be treated fairly" but the report gave viewers the impression that PAS was all ready to implement Hudud Laws there - the newsreader mentioned "...bila PAS melaksanakan hukum Hudud di Kedah".)

But PAS secretary-general Kamaruddin Jaafar said changing lifestyles was not the party's top priority as it works to form coalitions with opposition parties to rule the newly acquired states.
...

Kamaruddin said PAS would be sensitive to the feelings of minority ethnic Chinese and Indians who led the electoral rush away from the ruling coalition, which is dominated by Muslim Malays.

"We appreciate the fact that we obtained this massive victory this time through all Malaysians in Kedah, the Malays and the non-Malays," he told AFP.

"We are not going to let down any racial groups," he said. "We want to repay their support with policies that benefit all."

*************

Have you noticed the mainstream papers and TV news are still clinging on to the losers - last night RTM1 were still interviewing the losers and completely ignoring the winners.

The winners have to do something to get the mainstream media out of their state of denial - like SACKING a few editors.

Meanwhile our Prime Minister in waiting was quoted in, yes, of course Malaysiakini, (you were expecting the NST, were you?)

Opposition figurehead Anwar Ibrahim said today that the three parties he rallied to stunning election results were a "government in waiting".
...
Anwar has previously said he will return to parliament through a by-election in a seat held by his PKR party after April, when the ban related to a corruption conviction expires.
****************

And when Parliament convenes 120 days from now, we will see for the first time, the formation of The Shadow Cabinet!

My picks for:

Shadow PM: Anwar Ibrahim
Shadow DPM: Lim Kit Siang
...aannnd thennnn.....
Shadow de facto Law Minister: Sivarasa Rasiah!!! He should be able to shut the Nazri up for good, without even breaking a sweat!

I wrote this on the KeADILan Power e-group [http://groups.google.com/group/keadilan-power]yesterday:

1) Now that we have friends in Parliament, some of us may be getting calls from our other friends outside Parliament asking us to see if we can "pull some strings" to get this, that and the other as a favour.

I think we must impress upon them that in this 'new era' - it's not about "who you know" but about how good or in need you are, regardless of race, connections etc. - in other words, help and opportunities will be given on merit and need, and not connections.

2) If any of your friends start pointing out that there are no [place race here] in this or that position in the new State govts, we have to dis-educate them from thinking along these racial lines - and impress upon them that our needs as MALAYSIANS WILL be met, regardless of WHO is in whichever position.

That's the Opposition promise, so we'll give them a chance to prove it by helping them in the above manner.

....it is not the speakers that I want to talk about. It was the crowd. It just grew and grew. ... The open space was packed. The flyover that passed it was packed. The river side area separated from the open space by a fence was packed.
    ...
People were standing in the rain and the mud and they did not move. And when Raja Petra said that "BN can threaten the Indians and Chinese over our dead bodies", the Malay crowd roared approval. I could not believe it.

    ...
The rain was still pouring down, but people were still pouring in. Anwar was coming and they wanted to see him.

    ...
    Najib was speaking in Bangsar....
    ...
They had closed the road next to Bangsar Village II with a gigantic white tent. There was a portable generator the size of truck pumping electricity into the fans and bright lights that illuminated the tent. A cushy stage with Mak Datin chairs were arranged for the, oh so important, people. There were hundreds of chairs for the audience.
    ...

At the most, at the most, there were 500 people there. And most of these were curious onlookers on the five foot way. The tent was not even half full. Empty chairs everywhere.

And while the huge crowd at Lembah Pantai needed no prompting to shout "Reformasi" and "Makal Sakti", Najib had to practically plead with the crowd to respond to his pathetic attempts at rousing oratory. Its not that he was a bad speaker. Oh no. it was just that he was not getting any response. Except for a small group of maybe 30 BN workers right at the front. Everyone else sat quietly. Or made comments about how much those fellows were getting paid to shout "hidup UMNO".
    ...

The differences between the two ceramahs shocked me. One was packed with thousands and thousands of people. Wet, filthy with mud but vociferous in their desire for change. The other was dry, comfortable, posh even, but scarcely attended by people who mainly did not seem to care, despite the speaker's increasingly desperate rabble rousing.

Friends, before this night, I thought there was no way BN could lose their two thirds majority. Now, I am not so sure. There is a hope in the air and although I am loath to tell anyone what they should do, I will say this. We must vote and we must vote opposition. We must do all we can to change the rotten status quo. We vote, not just to get BN out of power or at the very least to lose their two thirds majority. We vote for change. We vote for democracy. After tonight, I believe, we can do it.

TEN REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD VOTE OPPOSITION

    by Aneel David Kannabhiran [DeadAlienX]

According to the Sun today, "35-40% (3.2 - 4.4 million) of voters have not made up their minds as to who to vote" (or if to vote at all).

According to NST yesterday: "Registered voters: 10.9 million, of whom some 25 per cent aren't expected actually to vote." (2,725,000 of them).

Instead of the usual "BN is horrid – here's proof, so vote Opposition", which EVERYONE with half a blog or email address (including yours truly) has been indulging in for the past year or so, let's not bash BN for once, and ….

Look at what the Opposition is capable of giving us if we vote them in:

    1)    ABOLISH RACE-BASED POLITICAL PARTIES – this will go far in eradicating racial polarization and hegemony.

    2)    REDUCE CRIME + ERADICATE CORRUPTION IN THE POLICE FORCE

    How?

    ·          Increase salaries of policemen across the board.

    ·          Increase the number of patrolmen and crime investigators – right now the bulk of policemen are involved in desk jobs, escort and "Special Branch" (read Opposition and dissident surveillance).

    ·          Set up the IPCMC

    ·          Address root causes of crime – ie: marginalization, disenfranchisement of certain sectors of society.

    ·          Restructure prison and drug rehabilitation programes.

    2)  ERADICATE CORRUPTION IN CIVIL SERVICE

    How?

    ·          Turn the ACA into a completely independent body accountable only to Parliament.

    ·          Promulgate a "Whistleblower's Protection Act".

    3)    FREE THE JUDICIARY

    How?

    ·          Continue the Royal Commission and widen their terms of reference to include past high-profile cases where the outcomes were suspect.

    ·          Set up an independent Judicial Appointments Commission.

    4)    RESTRUCTURE THE NEP

    How?

    ·          Affirmative action, job opportunities and education based on need and merit, not race.

    5)    UPHOLD FREEDOM OF RELIGION/CONVERSION AS PER ART. 11 AND PLACE  "ISLAM IS THE OFFICIAL RELIGION" [Art 3(1)] IN IT'S PROPER PESPECTIVE as per Art 3 (2-5) and Schedule 8, Federal Constitution (FC) – ie: under the purview of the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong and for ceremonial matters only.

    ·          Repeal Art.121A of the Federal Constitution which gives prominence to the Syariah Courts over the Federal Court.

    ·          Set up a Constitutionally enacted "Inter-Religious Council" accountable only to Parliament.

    6)    UPHOLD FREEDOM OF SPEECH & ASSEMBLY AS PER ART. 10 FC

    How?

    ·       Repeal the Printing Presses and Publications Act

    ·          Repeal S.27 Police Act requiring the issuance of "permits" for peaceful assemblies.

    7)    INCREASE THE BUDGET ALLOCATION FOR EDUCATION – to increase the extent of training and remuneration of teachers.

    8)    RESTRUCTURE THE EDUCATION SYLLABUS

    – away from exam orientation and rote learning, towards nurturing thinking skills, research capabilities and analytical prowess.

    9)    RE-ESTABLISH LOCAL COUNCIL ELECTIONS

    - to make Municipal Councils accountable to residents in order to eradicate the "Little Napoleon Syndrome".

And the biggest one of all:

    10) REDUCE THE COST OF PETROL – which will result in a reduction of inflation across the board.

          How?

    ·          As an oil producing and exporting country, Malaysians should BENEFIT when the prices of world oil prices go up. The RM80 BILLION in oil profits can be channeled to subsidise local petrol prices above and beyond the present subsidy – economists assert that if world petrol prices have gone up five-fold in the last 10 years, local petrol subsidies should also go up five-fold…

    ·          …instead of going towards military equipment, space programmes and the pockets of those in power.

IF YOU PERSONALLY KNOW OF ANY FRIENDS/FAMILY WHO ARE STILL "SITTING ON THAT FENCE" OR PLANNING TO SIT QUIETLY AT HOME THIS SATURDAY, PLEASE SHOW THIS TO THEM AND PERHAPS THEY WILL RECONSIDER…

The problem is that even if the Opposition is voted in to form the next government, it will not be able to deliver simply because it is not ready. It does not even have a shadow of a "shadow cabinet" to take over.  OC.
