The Heavy Hittter DJ Eddie One Latino 96.3 LA, CA

1. How long have you been in radio and what inspired you to start?

I've being djing on the radio for 2 years a lot of different reasons inspired me to become a dj. Listening to other very good djs and listening to very bad djs I just felt like I could do what these guys do and bring in a different type of flavor since almost everyone on radio sounds the same. I've always thought that a mixshow should sound way different then your regular rotation of course with out going all crazy and still stick to the format.

2. What do you think makes a good DJ?

1. Good Mixing

2. Good Record Selection

3. Scratching & Tricks

3. With the attributes stated in question 2, who do you think is a good DJ?

Guys I listened to before I started djing that I think qualify to question 2 include

1. Vice

2. Felli Fel

3. Mr. Choc

These were the guys that made me wanna dj I remember being a label rep and working records on them now I find my self on their side playing records and not promoting them.

4. What's the most memorable experience in your radio dj career?

I feel happy and blessed to be on the air in LA in a market with lots and lots of good djs and a lot of competition getting on Latino 96.3 and be part of the hottest DJ Crew in the nation The Heavy Hitters those are all memorable moments in my still short dj career.

5. What advice do you give to new DJs that are pursuing a successful career like yours that you wish you had received when starting out?

To practice practice & practice brush off the haters and do your thing if your hot someone will notice it no matter what.

6. What are you currently working on?

I just landed the night shift at Latino 96.3 FM in Los Angeles 7pm-12am thats my newest challenge to go up against the big dogs in the 2 Market in the country.

7.When can they see you live? What events do you have coming up?

I do various spots in LA I dont like getting stuck in one club I like moving around I do lots of clubs in Southern Cali and out of state as well.   My myspace calendar is always up to date.

8. Tell us about the Los Angeles music scene. Who are the top local artists? And how do you think it has evolved over the years.

The hottest LA act rightnow would probably be The Game.

9. What is a song that you hate to love ? (guilty pleasure)

There's many of those

10. As a street marketing professional on the promotion side of the music industry, what suggestions do you have for independent or new artists in creating a buzz for themselves? And how can they get to you?

Do whatever it takes make your own mixtapes, create your own exclusive remixes, print your own fliers, snipe your own posterboards keep your self visible at all times. Anyone can get to me through my site www.djeddieone.com

11. What is the most memorable obstacle you have had to overcome?

Learning a whole new language "English" from scratch when I came to the United States at the age of 11.

12. Who were your biggest influences in your life?

My dad I probably got my hustle from watching him be a good business man back in El Salvador growing up.

13. Websites?

www.djeddieone.com

www.latino963.com

& of course www.myspace.com/djeddieone

15. What else do you do besides DJ? And what are your typical working hours?

Im 100% into doing the radio thing rightnow

16. When can people hear who you are on the radio? What station? And how did you become involved with that station?

Its 2008 and Im currently at Latino 96.3 FM 7pm-12am Monday-Friday.

Getting on 102.7 KIIS FM was a real real big break for my DJ career it happened at the beginning of 2005 I heard through the grapevine that they were looking for a latino DJ that could play everything hip hop, r&b, reggaeton & top 40. At first it was a big challenge coming from Blazin 98.9 in San Diego a all hip hop station because I had to adjust to the whole top 40 thing. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do but ounce I got the hang of it it was all good.  Now being at Latino 96.3 in Los Angeles is a whole new ball game I went through a Hip Hop statation, a Top 40 station, and now a Latin/Hip Hop station.

17. What has your experience on MySpace been like so far? How did you first heard of MySpace? Is there anyone or group of people that you would like to re-connect with? If so, who?

Oh man so far its being beautiful to be able to connect with my people.

I get to see who my listeners, supporters and even some haters lol... see what they look like lol... I'm able to interact with them get requests, shout outs, keep them posted of where I'm at and what I'm doing. I'm happy to be a part of myspace and I'm happy to share my music with everyone on here. I would like to hook up with all my high school homies Grant High School & North Hollywood High holla!
