okay.  Shows:  a few acoustic-ish, solo-y type things, some hot karate action, and some good ol' fashioned Getouts coming yr way.  Pay attention, solo show with our buddies James Weigel of the Outlaw Family Band and Jeff Massey of the Steepwater band at the Horseshoe on Thursday March 6.  Country Getouts show at Simons on Sunday March 9.  MILE HIGH KARATE hosts Honky Tonk Bingo at the Pontiac on Sunday March 16, and the Getouts return with both barrells blazing at Subterranean on good Friday March 21st with the Steepwater Band and others.  Dig it, fools!

we love you

Nice.  Pete caved in, so I can go home and shave! Remember folks, in a mustache war there are no winners.  ...unless you're Sam Elliott.

Couple things in the news...

The Getouts have parted ways with our buddy Brian Power on drums, he has a little bambino on the way, and I'm told they can really cut into your down time... Now we are rehearsing and writing with new friend Mike Mertz behind the kit.

I bought a Hammond organ and Leslie cabinet for Fort Awesome.  I thought the Rhodes looked lonely.  Big thanks to Pete Pallasch for helping me schlep it up the stairs!

Some good shows on the way, as always we are switching things up a bit, we like to keep you on your toes...

Finally, you can pick up our album on line from CD Baby, just click on the link on our page.

we love you.

Keep an ear out for us on the box.  Richard Milne has given us a spin or two on 93.1 WXRT, and our good friends Razor and Di over at 88.7 WLUW are always nice to us...  Check back, big stuff coming.

A giant thank you to all that came out for the release show, you made our night!  All in all, I would say it was one of the most fun shows we've played.  More big ups to OFB and the Penthouse Sweets for kicking everyone's ass.  ...and my hand is healing nicely.

The next day I was at the space working on new tunes.  Why wait, right?  Might be taking a little time off, but MILE HIGH KARATE will probably be playing something soon.

In case you missed it, here is some unexpected flattery from Monica Kendrick at the Reader.  Take care, we love you!

GETOUTS I love a band that can evoke the comforts of a greasy spoon in music, and this local quartet is among the few to nail it. The house speciality is guitar—bluesy guitar, boogie guitar, slide-y guitar, Keef-y guitar, and Skynyrdyffyc guitar, all chopped up and cooked in a steaming omelet with a side of sausage and a slop of hot sauce. But that's not all there is to eat: singer-guitarist Andy Matzdorf (the group's only constant member) has a little Jeffrey Lee Pierce in him and an accent swiped from one of the Van Zant brothers. Tonight the Getouts celebrate their 11-track debut, How to Save a Drowning Horse, on their own label, Fort Awesome, named after their rehearsal space and studio. Penthouse Sweets and the Outlaw Family Band open.  9 PM, Empty Bottle, 1035 N. Western, 773-276-3600 or 866-468-3401, $7. —Monica Kendrick

Hope yall had a good holiday, I sure dig christmas for a militant agnostic.  Folks got me a sweet new tube condenser mic, cables, and soundproofing for the space.  'Bout time they came around, I was running out of places to store Cosby sweaters...

Thursday night, come one, come all to the Empty Bottle on Western and Cortez in the city of Chicago for the Getouts release of "How to Save a Drowning Horse".  The Outlaws are on at 9:00, Sweets at 10:00, and us at 11:00 sharp.  Be there.

We love you.

Oh yeah, Time Out Chicago was nice to us, check it out...

We will be officially releasing our new album on Thursday December 27th at the Empty Bottle, so remember to get back from Rapid City, or Crown Point, or Schaumburg, or wherever it is you spend your holiday in time for the show!  Also unleashing awesome that night will be the hooky-ass sing-alongs of our friends the Penthouse Sweets, and the triumphant return of the Outlaw Family Band.  B.K. gets to play a country/steel set AND a rock/guitar set at the same show-but he gets paid the same.  which is nothing.  Needless to say, the collective 14 of us are going to kick your fucking ass...   ...and you can get our album: How to Save a Drowning Horse.  Dig it.

we love you.
